Author's Note: I am an asshole everybody. I wrote this back in December, right before Christmas after BlueLion reminded me I hadn't written in forever. I wrote this and was going to release this as a Christmas/New Years present to y'all and them for reminding me. It was fully written (i don't remember if i edited but i wait any longer i'll forget again). A few days ago I was wondering why i hadn't been receiving any emails about this chapter, anything at all, then I realized I hadn't published it and was like "Oh crap." So here I am, with the update that I wrote a little over a month ago... I am a horrible person my friends. Anyways, It's been a long time since I worked on any fanfic, so I hope that you all enjoy this and that my writing hasn't deteriorated too much. Please enjoy, and BlueLion... I am so sorry that you knew this was finished and it never came out ^^;
Dinner was served after Sara and her twin uncles had finished watching a cartoon. Hego and Mego had helped set the table, and Jason was relatively silent, sitting on the couch behind his youngest kids and his grandchild. He would smile whenever Sara looked towards him, but it would fade moments after.
When Kim was helping pour drinks, she noticed that Shego was right. Her cheek and lip had healed already. What it also made her realize was that Jason had to have hit her as hard as Kim did when they used to fight to cause such an injury. He hadn't been holding back.
The dinner would've been awkward if not for the chitchat that the Wegos and Isabelle provided. Sara was good at rambling as well, talking about school, her friends, how her mom was teaching her to fight. She was excited to find out that her entire family new how to fight.
After dinner, she made them all promise to spar with her, no powers allowed.
While they were roughhousing after dinner, Isabelle keeping an eye on them and prepping to intervene at any moment Shego stepped outside for some fresh air.
Kim noticed the tension rolling off of her and followed.
Once they door closed behind them, Shego spoke up, "Sorry, Pumpkin."
Kim furrowed her brow. "For what?"
"I really can't be who you want me to be."
"What?" Kim stepped closer, placing a hand on Shego's shoulder. "What are you talking about?"
The older woman turned around to show the most shattered expression she'd ever seen.
A glimpse was all it took for Kim to pull Shego into a hug, wrapping her arms tightly around her. "You can stop pretending for me. I think we've known each other long enough that it's okay for us to be real with each other"
Shego let out a short breath of laughter as she returned the hug with more strength than Kim expected.
"I was trying to keep it together in the kitchen," Shego whispered. "You've always seen a tough, badass villain when we crossed paths before. Now you have to deal with a middle-aged woman who is falling apart because of a childhood mistake."
Kim pulled back and shook her head. "I see a tough, badass woman, so I think you're still doing pretty good. You didn't need the villain title anyways. Besides, we all make mistakes. I don't think Sara is that much of one. She's a wonderful girl an I can see you love her. And if you didn't need the money," Kim said playfully, "you would never have been a villain and I would have never meet you."
Shego pulled back with a small smile. "Thank you."
"Hey, if we're swapping what mistakes we think we made, I made the mistake of dating Ron."
Shego raised an eyebrow. "You two aren't together? I thought you were inseparable and in love? I mean if anything I figured maybe you guys had off again, on again things going on."
Kim raised an eyebrow at the last part but shrugged. "Teenage love, what can I say? We realized as time went on that we were better as best friends than lovers. We'd always had a weird dynamic, and dating seemed like an okay step, but it never turned out well."
"So, you two are still best friends?" Shego asked, glad for the distraction from her own problems.
"Sort of. I'm sure that if either of us asked for help we'd come flying, but Ron is in a different country and happily married."
Shego's eyes shot upwards. "He's what?"
"Married," Kim laughed. "I was the maid of honor at the wedding."
"Who married him?" Shego asked.
"Yori. A ninja."
"Right. You're telling me that that buffoon managed to snag a ninja?"
Kim shrugged. "Mystical magic monkey power?"
"Huh."
They both fell silent as they stared out at the open land surrounding them. The sun was getting close to setting and a slight breeze was passing through. It wasn't until they heard Sara shout excitedly about landing a hit on Hego that they snapped out of it.
"We should probably head in. We'll need to leave soon to get Sara home before bedtime. I also feel bad about snagging you without really telling you what you'd be dealing with."
"It's really fine, you know. I still had some time off, and I'm sure my mom is glad that I wasn't just laying around my apartment all day binge-watching rom-coms."
Shego laughed as the pulled open the door. "Glad to be of service." She gave a slight bow.
"Why thank you," Kim said with a small curtsy.
They helped clean up the dishes while Sara hung out with her family for a little while longer, a good portion of the time playing "Guess which Wegos aren't clones." However, Sara was starting to get tuckered out fast.
Kim picked up the little girl and brought her around the family for one last round of sleepy goodbyes. She was glad she was holding Sara when they said goodbye to Hego. She could almost see the infatuation in his eyes. She managed to escape with only a kiss to the back of her hand. It was Isabelle who saved her by saying she wanted another goodbye kiss from her favorite grandchild.
Then, Shego asked Kim to settle Sara in and wait in the car. Kim hesitantly did so.
The moment they were out the door, Jason stepped towards Shego, and Isabelle took a step closer as well, preparing to intervene if things became physical again.
"I am immensely displeased with you," Jason said gruffly.
"I've gathered," Shego managed to bite back. Maybe some of her fire from her villain days was still around.
He grit his jaw. "However, Sara is not at fault, and she does not deserve to be treated like a mistake, when that title belongs to her mother." Shego cringed but said nothing, and Isabelle was at a loss. He'd never openly said that before She didn't know how to react. "Even so," he continued, "you should bring her by more often. She should get to know her family. Learn how to be an upstanding citizen from heroes. It would be poor form for her to be learning from a villain."
"Ex-villain," Shego said bluntly.
"A villain is always a villain."
Shego crossed her arms, "Rest assured, father, she seems to have taken a liking to Kimmy, so I'm sure she'll pick up heroic tendencies from her."
That was what made it click. "Kim Possible? The one who was your arch-nemesis?"
"She's the one and only."
"She can't be too heroic if she's mingling with you."
For once, it seemed Hego and Shego were in Sync. Both of them grabbed their father by the shirt and pulled him off his feet.
"Don't you EVER say something bad about her again."
Jason was startled. It was one thing for Shego to be angry, but his son was practically his spitting image. If there was one child he knew would side with him, it had always been Hego.
Shego was the first to let him go, letting Hego vent his anger should he choose. Instead, Shego gave her other brothers a hug goodbye, and gave her mom a kiss on the cheek with a promise that she'd call and visit soon.
Then Shego was out the door and getting into her car.
"She's asleep," Kim whispered.
"Everything okay?"
Shego started the car and mumbled back, "it will be."
They didn't talk the rest of the ride back, and Shego dropped Kim off before going home and tucking Sara into bed.
After such a long day, Shego collapsed into bed and was asleep the second her head hit the pillow.
A/N: I hope you guys enjoyed! I know it was super short, and to be quite frank I'd forgotten where I had planned to go with the story here - i mean I know where I want the story to end and a big part of the story was going to be, but that isn't going to be so immediate (or at least it wasn't going to be) and I dont remember if I even knew how i was going to get to it... but one day I will get to it. Just remember, I will, no matter what, finish ever story I started posting here. Just please, if I haven't posted in a while, drop me a review or shoot me a message... having someone remind me that they really liked my writing and are looking forward to the next chapter helps motivate me to write. Thank you guys for bearing with me and my long ass breaks :p You guys are fantastic, and I hope you enjoyed this :)
