A/N:I know it has been forever and a day since I posted anything for this story. I lost my muse for writing and that made me lose interest in all my stories. I am slowly starting to find my inspiration for writing again. So, I decided to test the waters with another story and that one got me in the mood to finally finish this one. I want to sincerely apologize to all my readers and reviewers who have waited so long to read the ending of this story. All of you have been terrific and each review truly made my day. Now, I'm going to shut up and let you get to reading. I hope you enjoy and that it was worth the wait.
The sound of her cell phone ringing woke Christina up out of a very pleasant dream of her and Tom. She turned to her night stand and looked at her clock. It read 6 am. She rolled her eyes and cursed underneath her breath. Not even bothering to look at her screen to so who it was she answered her phone.
"There had better be someone dying for you to be calling this early."
"Does dying to see you count?"
"Tom! Hi baby." Christina said with a yawn.
"I know I woke you and I'm sorry. I just needed to hear your voice."
"Oh, that's sweet. Where are you?"
"At work."
"Work? I wish I was at work." Christina pouted.
"You're not coming back to work." Tom said sternly.
"I know, spoil sport. Why are you there so early?"
"I have a surgery scheduled at 8 and I needed to get something's done before hand. How are you?"
"I'm fine." Christina said not very convincingly.
Tom could hear it in Christina's voice. She wasn't fine.
"What's wrong? And don't tell me nothing."
"That obvious huh?"
"Only to those that really know you. C'mon, tell the doctor what ails you."
Christina chuckled.
"You really wanna know?"
"Yeah. What's wrong?"
Christina sighed. "I'm bored."
"Bored?!"
"Oh my god yes! I need to do something."
"Christina, you are the only person I know that when someone tells you to rest you do everything in your power to do the exact opposite."
"I can't help it. I'm wired differently."
"Believe me I know. That's what I love about you."
"Tom, what am I going to do? I have another week to go before I can go back to work. If I don't do something soon I'm gonna scream."
"Christina, your a sexy, brilliant, resourceful woman, I'm sure that you'll think of something. Just take baby steps."
"Baby steps?"
"Yeah, don't look to plan something for the rest of the week. Plan something to do each day. You always tell me that you would love to be more spontaneous but never get the chance to. Well here's your shot. Take it."
"I think I forgot what it's like to be spontaneous."
"Well use this week to remember."
"You know, I think I will."
"That's my girl." Tom was about to say more to Christina when his pager went off.
"ER's paging?"
"Yup. I gotta go sweetie."
"I know. Will I see you tonight?"
"Yes, you will. I'll come straight over after work... with a surprise."
Those words made Christina sit straight up.
"A surprise huh? Now, I really can't wait. Ok, go work so you can get to me faster. I love you."
"Love you, too."
Christina hung up her cell phone and placed it on her night stand. She thought about what Tom had told her about being spontaneous and her mind began swirling with all sorts of things she could do today.
It didn't take long before one idea popped in her mind. She smiled the more she thought about it.
"Now, to put my plan into action."
Christina picked up her cell phone again and scrolled through her list of names until she found the one she was looking for and dialed.
"Hey, stranger!"
"Christina! It's wonderful to hear your voice."
"Why, thank you, John. It's good to hear your voice too."
"What in the heck are you doing up so early?"
"An early morning phone call from Tom woke me up. What's your excuse?"
"I spent the night here in my office trying to get a budget proposal ready for that new NICU we've been talking about. I think the board will like the numbers we came up with. I can't thank you enough for all the work you did trying to help get this project started."
"Oh, John that's great! I'm glad I could help out. Listen, I ..I.."
Christina paused for a second and thought about what she going to say. She started to get nervous. A million thoughts started racing around in her head and all of them were the different ways Morrissey could say no to her. If he said no to what she was thinking then that would blow all of her other plans out of the water.
"You still there Christina?"
John's voice brought her out of her negative thoughts. No, this is going to work, she said to herself. No negative thoughts. Only positive ones. I'm gonna make this spontaneous thing work if it kills me. With a new found sense of courage she continued her conversation.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm still here. Look John, one of the reasons I was calling was because I have something to ask you. A favor really. I..."
Morrisey sighed. "You are not coming back to work early Christina. I.."
Christina cut him off. "I already know that, John. Sheesh, did you guys all practice the same speech? Tom just told me that and Bobbi told me that last night when I spoke to her."
"Good and yes we all did. We knew you'd try to find a way back in here. I'm sorry to burst your bubble if that's what you called for."
"It was a tiny bubble, but I'll get over it. What I called for is that I need your help on a project."
"Is it a work project?"
"Nooo. It's an out of work project and it needs you to make it all happen. If you've gotta a couple of minutes I'll explain it and then you can tell me whether or not you approve of this proposal."
"Sounds fair. Go ahead."
John listened as Christina explained laid out her plans to him. His mind immediately began processing the pros and cons of it all. Could what she want work with out disrupting hospital operations?
When she was done there was silence over the phone and Christina started to fear the worse.
"Hello John? You still there?"
"Yes, Christina I'm sorry. I was just jotting down some notes about your proposal.
"And..."
"And...I don't see a problem with it, but I need to work out something's on my end. How soon do you need an answer on this?"
"Tonight." Christina said sheepishly.
John chuckled. "Of course you do. I don't know even why I asked. Alright, I'll give you a call tonight."
"Ok, and thank you ,John for doing this."
"Don't thank me yet. Thank me when I get this all worked out. You take care, Christina."
"I will John, you too. Bye."
Christina hung up her cell phone and hopped out of the bed and headed towards the shower. She had a lot to do and needed
to get the day started.
Later that night.
"Camille, your sure you're ok with all of this?" Christina asked.
Camille rolled her eyes for what she felt like was the millionth time. Her mom had been asking her the same question all day and she was really getting tired of repeating herself. She was fine with all the plans her mother made and she was both surprised and happy that her mother was finally doing something without over thinking it to death.
Camille walked over to her mom who was standing in front of her closet looking more lost than she had ever seen her. She gave her mother a hug.
"Mom, I'm really cool with everything. Good for you for not stepping on the spontaneous bug."
"Yeah, yeah. I just hope it all works out." Christina said with a small smile.
Oh, no. Camille thought to herself. No, no,no.
Camille looked at her mother closely. She looked her mother square in the eye and hoped she wasn't seeing what she thought she was seeing. When her mother tried to turn away from her daughter's gaze that's when she knew her suspicions were confirmed.
"Mom,you're still scared aren't you?" Camille said looking at her mother.
Christina smiled back her daughter. Sometimes she hates that her daughter knows her so well. "That obvious huh?"
"Only to the people who really know you. So,what's making you not so sure about all of this?"
Christina sighed then sat down in front of her closet and leaned back against the closed door.
Camille went over to her mother's bed and laid down on it facing her mother with her feet crossed behind her in the air. She waited patiently for her mother to begin.
"I'm scared of losing him, Camille. That's what's holding me back."
Camille was surprised at her mother's confession. "Mom, you shouldn't be afraid. Tom loves you."
"I know he does."
"Than if you know, then what's the problem?"
"Me. I'm the problem!" she said almost screaming.
"Wait...I don't understand."
Christina sighed. Here she was again, going to her daughter's confessional.
"Camille, there is so much to me that Tom doesn't know. Hell, there are things about me you don't know. I have a lot of issues and I think that if he knew them, that he might get scared and run and..."
"And what mom?
Christina looked over at her daughter and sighed while a loan tear fell down her face.
"And I don't think I could handle that. I don't think I can handle him leaving me because I want this so badly. I want Tom in my life more than I have wanted anything in my life. Except you of course."
"Well, thank you." Camille said.
"I'm tired of being alone Camille. I thought that after your father died that I wouldn't want to be with anyone else and for a while I was ok with that. I was ok with being alone and growing old alone. After all, I had my work and you to keep me company. What more could I want right? Tom...Tom changed all of that. He made me open my heart and feel love again. I wanna keep feeling that love and show him how grateful I am to him for bringing love back to my life. I don't wanna mess this up."
"Then don't."
"You make it sound so simple."
"Maybe because it is. You love him. He loves you. I say that's a good foundation to start with don't you?"
"I just hope that he is ready for the roller coaster called my life."
"I think Tom is well aware of how topsy turvy your life is. If he hasn't run yet, he's either crazy or he's crazy in love and I've seen the man around you. He is definitely crazy in love."
Camille got up off the bed and went over to her mother by the closet and sat down next to her. She put her arm around her and Christina laid her head on her daughter's shoulder. She smiled when she felt Camille kiss the top of her head like she used to when Camille was little.
"This is happening way too often ya know." Christina said.
"What?"
"This role reversal of ours. You being the parent and me being the child."
"It is a little weird isn't it?"
"Yes, it is."
"Can I just be the parent one more time? Then I promise to go back to being a kid."
"Sure mom, go ahead." Christina joked.
"Don't let the past hold you back from your future. Open yourself up and embrace life, mom. Embrace all that Tom is offering you and once you have it hold on to it and never let it go."
"Ya know something kiddo?"
"What?"
"Your going to make a great mother someday."
"Duh? I learned from the best. Now enough of this mushie stuff lets you get you dressed." Camille said helping her mother up off the floor.
"That sounds like a plan." Christina said.
"Nope. No plans. What's the word of the day?"
Christina laughed. "It sounds spontaneous."
A Few Hours Later
Tom pulled into Christina's driveway and was barely able to keep his eyes open. It was 11:30 at night and Tom was much later than he originally planned to be. He was supposed to be at her house by 6:30 but a six car pile up on the highway changed that. Tom barely had enough time to text Christina he was going to be late when the first trauma patient arrived. When he finally left the hospital Tom was still on his adrenaline high and didn't feel the slightest bit tired. It was that and the idea of lying next to Christina that kept him from falling asleep behind the wheel. That thought brought a smile to his face.
Sharing a bed with the woman he loved, what could be better than that?
Tom yawned as he exited the car and headed towards Christina's door. He grinned when he saw the light in Christina's living room was still on. That meant she was still up waiting for him. Tom knocked on the door and he didn't have to wait long before Christina met him at the door.
The smile on his face widened when he saw Christina.
She was standing there in nothing but his soccer t-shirt.
"Wow. You look...wow."
Christina grinned. She was happy that Tom not only appreciated how she looked, but that he was also speechless.
"You think I look hot now, you should have seen how I looked earlier in my little black dress. I was smokin'." she joked.
Tom frowned.
"I'm so sorry Christina. I really tried to get away..."
Christina put two fingers to Tom's lips to quiet him.
"Tom, you don't have to apologize. If there is anyone that understands how hard it is to get away from work it's me. I mean how many times have you found me walking the hospital halls long after my shift because trauma after trauma came in, huh?"
"Too many to count."
"Exactly. So, why would I be mad at you for doing the exact same thing I would do if our roles were reversed? You were doing what you are good at Tom, and I will never find fault with you for that."
Tom pulled Christina to him and crushed her in a hug.
"You're too good to me. You know that? I don't deserve you."
"Yes, I am, of course I do, and you're wrong. It's me, that doesn't deserve you."
Tom kissed the top of Christina's head as he held her close. He didn't want to let her go but the breeze against his back cleared the fog in his brain and he remembered they were still standing in the doorway.
"Maybe we should take this inside."
Christina giggled. She had totally forgot that they were standing there for all the world to see while she was in her skibbies.
"I agree. Inside is best."
Not wanting to let his prize go, Tom held on to Christina as she started to walk backwards inside. He used his foot to kick the door closed while Christina snaked her hands around Tom's back to lock the door.
Barely breaking eye contact with one another they moved around the furniture in the living room like two ballroom dancers. Finally making it to the couch Tom sat down first then pulled Christina down so she could straddle him.
"You hungry, I made dinner?" Christina asked as she gently touch the side of Tom's face.
"I'm starved and I wanna eat, but if eating means you have to move from this spot then I don't wanna eat."
Christina chuckled. "Let me make you something to eat. I promise I won't be more than five minutes. I'll be back before you miss me."
"Ok. But you better be back in five or else I'm coming in there after you."
Christina hurried off of Tom's lap before he changed his mind and headed towards the kitchen.
Only two minutes had passed and Tom was already missing the feel of Christina against him.
"Christina?"
"Yeah."
"I miss you."
"It's only been two and half minutes." she said laughing.
"That's two and a half too long, woman."
"It's almost done."
Tom sat back and tried to get comfortable but he couldn't. Every part of him was restless and crying out for Christina to return. It took everything he had not to follow her in the kitchen like some love sick teenager. His restraint paid off when a moment later she walked out of the kitchen with a tray of piping hot food and something to drink.
Christina placed the tray down in front of Tom who wasn't really paying attention to the meal but more to the woman before him.
"Christina, this looks and smells delicious."
Christina beamed at the compliment. "Thank you. Now eat up before it gets cold."
"You don't have to tell me twice."
While Tom ate, Christina sat in silence on the couch watching him.
She didn't know why she was staring at him. She just couldn't take her eyes off him. Something about his eating fascinated her. The rhythmic movement of his jaw was hypnotic and the sound of him chewing for some reason was calming to her.
Tom was about to take another bite of his meal when he felt Christina's eyes on him.
He saw her out of the corner of his eye watching him with a far away look on her face.
"Do you like what you see?"
Christina smiled. "Yes, I do."
Curious now, he put down his food on the table in front of them and turned to Christina.
"Tell me."
Christina quirked an eyebrow at him. "Tell you what?"
"What you see?"
"You'll think it's silly."
"No, I won't. C'mon tell me."
"Ok. Promise you won't laugh." Christina said pointing her finger at Tom.
"I won't. Scout's honor." Tom said holding up two fingers.
"Ok, I'll tell you but there is catch." Christina said.
"And that is?"
"You have to dance with me."
"Dance with you?"
"Yes. Dance with me. Or if you don't want to know..."
Never one to shy away from a challenge. Tom picked up Christina's thrown down gauntlet.
"I'll dance with you."
Christina smiled then hopped off the couch. She pushed the coffee table out of the way to make room for her and Tom. She then walked over to the mantle where her iPod was sitting in her iHome radio. She scrolled through some songs then found the one she was looking for and pressed play.
As the song started she walked over to Tom and held out her hand to him.
"Dance with me."
Tom was up off the coach in a flash. He took Christina's offered hand then pulled her close to him and they both began swaying to the music.
Christina took a moment to collect herself before she started speaking. Her mind kept telling her not to put herself out there like this, but her heart shouted for her mind to shut up and let it do the talking for once.
"Tom, there is so much I wanna tell you. So much my heart wants to say, but I'm afraid. So, I'm gonna say it with a song and a little help from Alicia Keys. She's gonna start and I'll fill in where I need to."
Moment of honesty
Someones gotta take the lead tonight
Whose it gonna be?
I'm gonna sit right here
And tell u while it comes to me
If u have something to say
U should say it right now
"Christina?" Tom said softly.
Christina hushed Tom and told him to listen.
U give me a feeling that I never felt before
And I deserve it, I know I deserve it
"I was blind before this Tom. I closed my eyes to what this was and now I'm ready to see." she said softly in to his chest.
It's become something that's impossible to ignore
And I can't take it
I was wondering maybe
Could I make you my baby
If we do the unthinkable will it make us look crazy
If you ask me I'm ready
If you ask me I'm ready
"I'm ready to be strong enough to walk away from old fears. I see what this new love between us is now and I want more of it."
I know u said to me
"This is exactly how it should feel when it's meant to be"
Time is only wasting so why wait for eternity
If we gonna do something about it
We should do it right now
"I don't want to wait anymore. No more wasting time. I wanna see you here with me."
U give me a feeling that I never felt before
And I deserve it, I know I deserve it
It's become something that's impossible to ignore
It's what we make it
I was wondering maybe
Could I make you my baby
If we do the unthinkable will it make us look crazy
Or would it be so beautiful either way I'm sayin
If you ask me I'm ready
If you ask me I'm ready
"My heart is open, Tom. And I now that I deserve this. We deserve this."
Why give up before we try
Feel the lows before the highs
Clip our wings before we fly away
I can't say I can't compare
I'm suspended it the air
Won't u come be in the sky with me
"All I need to know is... if you can see us too?"
I was wondering maybe
Could I make you my baby
If we do the unthinkable will it make us look crazy
Or would it be so beautiful either way I'm sayin
If you ask me I'm ready
If you ask me I'm ready
Christina stopped moving and looked into Tom's eyes. For the first time since she could remember, she wasn't afraid of the love she saw in them.
"Ask me?"
Tom hands drifted to Christina's face.
"Are you sure?"
Tears prick Christina's eyes.
"I'm ready."
"I need to..."
Christina hushed him.
"You don't need anything."
"For this I do. Don't move."
Tom ran over to the door and was just about to leave through it when he turned around again. "Don't move and close your eyes."
"Tom, you don't..." Christina was cut off by Tom shushing her and telling her to be a good girl and do as he said.
Christina smiled as she rolled her eyes at him then closed them just as he was opening her front door.
She heard Tom's car door open then slam shut. Then heard her front door open, close, and then lock. A moment later she felt Tom lips on her for a quick kiss.
She pouted as he pulled away. He laughed at her pout.
"No pouting."
"But, I like your lips on mine."
"I like them there too. You can put them back there in one minute. Just hold on for one second." Tom said. "Ok, now open them."
Christina open her eyes and she gasped at what she saw.
There was Tom, on one knee, holding open a box, with a ring inside.
"You said to ask, so... I'm asking. Christina, will you marry me?"
Christina was so overwhelmed with joy that she couldn't speak so she nodded.
"Oh no. You have to say the words. It's not official until I hear you say them. So don't keep me waiting. Say it."
"Yes! Oh, yes baby, I will." Christina said through happy tears.
Tom placed the ring on Christina's trembling finger.
She laughed a little as Tom slipped the ring on.
"What's so funny?" he asked.
"That I'm not the only one that's nervous. Your steady surgeon hands are shaking just as much as mine."
"Well I was worried."
Christina frowned a little.
"Worried that I would say no like last time?"
Tom was quiet. It would be easy to say no or of course not but, that wouldn't true. A small piece of him deep down was afraid that Christina might reject him again. He didn't think he could deal with the pain of her saying no to him again. He looked away from Christina and was ashamed of his thoughts.
Christina smiled at Tom. She wasn't angry at him or blame him in the slightest for having those thoughts.
She grabbed Tom face and turned it to her. Then knelt down in front of him so they were now eye to eye.
"Tom, I don't blame you for having those feelings. I gave you plenty of reasons to feel the way you do by constantly pushing you away because of my issues. I was afraid of our love but, I'm not now. I want this. I want you. I want a future with you. I love you and if you will have me, I promise to never make you feel like you have to doubt me or my love for you."
"Christina, that's all I want. All I ever wanted was you."
Christina pulled Tom to her and they held on to each other whispering words of love.
"So, do you like the ring?" Tom asked.
Christina pulled away from him and then looked down at her ring. It was a three carat princess cut diamond with a platinum setting.
"Wow!" was all she could get out.
Tom was grinning from ear to ear.
"So, I did good?"
"Oh, yeah. You did really good. I can only imagine how much this set you back."
"Don't you worry about that. You were worth every penny I spent. There's an inscription."
Christina removed the ring and looked at the inscription.
* To Christina-My Everything *
"And you are my everything."
"Here let me place that back on your finger."
Christina held her hand back out to him. It still trembled, but not as much as before.
She watched as he looked into her eyes while slowly slipping the ring on her finger. She couldn't help but smile.
"You know, I think this calls for a celebration." Tom said while leaning in to kiss Christina on the side of her neck.
"You are absolutely right. This does call for a celebration but, before we do that, you need to finish eating because you, my dear doctor, are going to need all your strength."
"Yes, ma'am." Tom said right before he gave a Christina a long slow kiss that left her breathless.
"Oh, yeah. That kiss definitely held the promise of things to come." she thought.
Tom finished his food quickly and set the tray on the table in front of him. He sat back on the couch and felt even more content now that his stomach was as full as his heart.
"Would you like some more?"
"No. I'm stuffed. Plus, having more would delay my bed time and I for one am ready to go to bed.
"I feel the same way. Let me put the plates away and I'll join you in the room."
"No, leave them and come with me to bed." Tom said trying to pull Christina to him.
Christina laughed as she squirmed out of Tom's grasp. "It will take me five minutes to put them in the dishwasher."
"You got two minutes."
"Five."
"Two."
"Meet me halfway."
"Fine. Three."
"Done." she said kissing him on the lips. "Now, shoo. I expect you nice and naked when I get in there."
"Ok. Hurry up. I'm timing you."
As Tom walked, well more like ran to the bedroom Christina gathered up the dishes and headed towards the kitchen. She quickly put them in the dishwasher and cleared away any mess that was left out in the kitchen. Once she turned on the dishwasher and made sure that the kitchen was squared away she started to make a beeline for her bedroom and the man who was sure to be naked and waiting for her.
Just as she round the corner to her living room her cell phone started to go off. She cursed under breath and damned the person for their ungodly timing. At first she wasn't going to answer it but, changed her mind thinking maybe it could be Camille. She looked at the cell phone number and saw it was the hospital calling her. Now she knew she really needed to answer because maybe they were looking for Tom.
"Hello."
"Hello, Christina. It's me, John.
"Hi, John. Is everything alright? Is the hospital ok? Do you need Tom?" she asked rapidly trying to think why would John be calling her at this hour.
"No, no. Everything is fine here and we don't Tom." he said laughing. "I'm sorry to call you so late. I just wanted to give you an answer to your proposal that you made me earlier."
"Oh, yes. And..." she asked with her fingers cross.
"Well the answer is..."
Before John could finish giving her his answer Tom walked out and called to her. "Christina! Time's up."
Christina looked over to where Tom was standing and found him standing there naked as the day he was born. Her jaw dropped and she couldn't help as she stared at him letting her eyes soak all of him in. God, was he gorgeous. From his chiseled jaw line, to his six pack of pecks, to that rock hard...
"Christina? Are you there?"
Jolted back into reality and feeling embarrassed that she taking all of Tom in while speaking she John she recovered quickly.
"Oh yes.. yes..yes.. I'm here. I just lost you for a second."
"Cell phones. They have the worst reception don't they? Well, I won't keep you long. I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know your proposal is a done deal."
"Really? Oh my god! How soon can I can we make this happen?"
"As of right now."
"Oh my god, John thank you."
"It wasn't just me it was a team effort to pull this off. Now, go and enjoy the fruits of your labor."
"I will and thank you, John."
"Take care, Christina. Bye."
"Bye."
Christina pushed the end button on the phone and was just about to turn back to Tom when she suddenly found herself being swooped up in his arms.
"What are you doing?" she laughed.
"I'm taking my fiance' to bed so I can make love to her all night long. Do you have a problem with that?"
"No. No, problem at all. I only ask that you let me bring my laptop with me."
"Why? Are we watching porn?" he joked which earned him a playful slap on the arm.
"No! No, porn! I just want to show you something. I promise it will be worth the wait."
"OK."
"Are you doing to put me down?" she asked when she tried to get him to let her go.
"Nope. If I'm carrying you then I know where you are and there will be less chance of you getting distracted."
Tom quickly walked into her office and let Christina grab her laptop then like a man on a mission he made a bee line straight for bedroom.
As Tom made himself comfortable under the covers, Christina was about to slip into something more suitable for the occasion when he stopped her.
"I'm sure you have something that will make my heart stop but, I can't think of anything sexier than you in my t-shirt. I mean damn, you look hot."
"Well, then I guess I will be leaving it on then."
"Don't worry, it wont be on for long."
"I'm sure it wont be. Before you do that. I need to tell you what that phone call was about."
Tom sat up and suddenly became worried.
"I know that it was John on the phone. Is everything alright?" As he was thinking about what the phone call could be, an unpleasant thought came in to his head.
"Christina, are you about to tell me that you talked to John about coming back to work early? If you are that is a serious mood killer."
Christina chuckled. "No mood killing here. Relax, baby."
Tom sighed. "Ok, so what was so important John had to call you and interrupt my time with my new fiance'?"
"You remember when you told me to be spontaneous?"
"Yes."
"Well, I took your advice and I did something."
"And..."
"It's better if I show you."
Tom looked on as Christina opened up her laptop and pulled up her email. Once she found the one she was looking for she placed the laptop in front of him and told him to read the email.
Christina waited for Tom's response as he looked over the email in front of him. It was hard for her to gauge a response from him because he had a blank look on his face. She took his long silence as him not liking what he was reading. So much for spontaneity, she thought. She watched as Tom pushed the laptop away from him and then turned to look at her.
"You did this?"
Christina nodded.
"Today?"
"Yes."
Tom shook his head.
"Look, Tom..I know it's rushed..and..
Tom looked at her and started laughing.
"Shut up. Just shut up and come here."
Christina grinned and then gladly climbed on top of Tom so she that she could face him.
"So, I take it you like what you saw?"
"Like? I love it."
"From the look on your face I thought you didn't like it."
"Baby, I was just blown away. I couldn't believe you got us two first class tickets to Montana."
"Yup, and I also found us a lovely secluded cabin with a lake front view."
"Wow! I need you to be spontaneous more often."
"Oh, it doesn't stop there. We leave the day after tomorrow."
"That soon? I don't know if I have time to find someone to cover my patients."
"And that's where Morrissey comes in. He already took care of that. You are covered."
"So, how long do we have off?"
"Well, I was supposed to be back in a week but John said the hospital can last without me for another week. That gives me and you two glorious weeks together. Think you can handle being alone with me for that long?"
Tom sighed and rolled his eyes. "I'll manage".
Christina laughed then grabbed a pillow from her side of the bed and tried to hit Tom, but he was faster and blocked her. He then grabbed the pillow and threw it across the room.
Christina looked at Tom and smiled. She let her finger glide down his jaw line. God, she loved this man. He was so worried about her. She could see that he was still a little scared that she would run. Run from this. Run from them. It was time for her to show him that the only running she was planning to do, was toward him. It was time to give her man some reassurance.
"Tom, I want this. I WANT you. I was serious when said I not running away from this. You are my everything and tonight, I'm going to show you how much I love and need you."
She pulled Tom to her and started placing gentle kisses along his neck. She watched as his head tilted more to the side giving her lips better access. Her lips worked from his sweet tasting neck to his ear lobe. A spot she knows drives him insane. She gentle bites down on it and hears her name escape his lips. That sounds sends a wave of heat through her and spurs her on. As she continues nibbling on her ear, his hands start to roam. Soon they start to work their way under her shirt where they make contact with her skin. Silk, was the only way to describe how soft it felt against his fingers.
"God, Tom, you feel so good. I need.. I need..."
"What do you need?" he asked pulling away from her. He cradled her face him his hands. "Tell me what you need, baby."
"More." That's all her mind kept chanting. "More".
"Take what you need, baby. I'm here. I'm not going any where. We have ALL night."
Christina didn't need anymore encouragement. Her lips crashed on to Tom's and it started a fire in both of them that became all consuming. Just as Tom promised, the shirt Christina was wearing wasn't on long and was thrown to some unknown portion of the room.
In the darkness all that could be heard were grunts, moans, screams, and then words of love.
Three rounds of love-making later, the two held each other spent. Tom was barely able to move as he grabbed the blanket that was on the bed to cover them. Once the blanket was around them he pulled Christina against him. Her back to his chest. He placed a soft kiss on her neck.
Christina was still on her cloud when she felt Tom's lips against her neck.
"Tom... that.. was..."
"Wow."
"Yeah. Wow." She chuckled. "I think you broke me."
"If it's any consolation to you. I think you broke me too."
"I'm sorry baby."
"Don't be. I will take a lifetime of being broken by you. Thank you very much."
"I feel the same way." Christina said then yawned.
"I will take that as a cue for us to get some sleep."
"Good idea.
Christina smiled as Tom arms pulled her as close as he could to her then wrapped them around her tiny frame. He buried his face in her neck just below her ear. Just as he was about to drift off she heard him speak.
"Good night, Mrs. Wakefield. I love you."
"I love you, too Mr. Wakefield. Good night".
