Chapter 8: Witchy Ways

It was a normal day at in Titan's Tower. The Titans were lazing about. It was a slow day and things in the city were calm. Robin and Starfire were sitting together on the couch just snuggling together. Ever since their date last week the pair had been inseparable. Terra and Beast Boy had seemed a bit closer as well. Cyborg was in the kitchen working on perfecting some of his recipes. Since his car was upgraded the best it could be right now, he needed something else to do. Raven was off in her room.

Sapphira on the other hand was very busy. She was working on a potion. It was tricky and very complicated. It required strict attention. She had to add ingredients in a certain order and at a certain time. This had to be carefully timed out.

Sapphira looked up from her book and saw that the potion had turned a nice shade of pink. According to the book that meant it was ready for the next step. She reached over to grab the next ingredient off the shelf next to her. Her arm however hit a bottle and it tipped spilling into the small cauldron in front of her. Sapphira let out a shriek before the potion blew up in her face. The tower shook and more shrieks were heard.

Sapphira ran out to the living room. The Titans were all laying on the floor in heaps. They seemed a bit shaken up. The Titans all slowly managed to stagger back to their feet.

"What was that?" Robin asked not having noticed Sapphira enter the room yet.

"It almost felt like an earthquake," Raven said looking to Terra.

"It wasn't me, I swear," Terra said glaring at Raven.

"It was me," Sapphira said making herself known to the others. They all turned to her waiting for an explanation. "So, I was working on a potion and things didn't go as planned," Sapphira said scratching her neck nervously.

"Potion?" Beast Boy asked.

"Should we be surprised?" Robin asked.

"I told you all when we met, I am a witch," Sapphira said mystically waving her hands about. "it was supposed to be done, but I messed it up and no longer have the ingredients I need to finish," she added.

"You mean, you need to start over?" Raven asked.

"Same difference," Sapphira said waving her hand at the Gothic teen. "Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some collecting to do," she said turning to leave.

"What do you need, maybe we can help," Terra said stopping the blonde alien in her tracks.

"Really?" Sapphira asked, "I need lots of stuff, some stuff that requires magic to get," she said.

"Well you can do the magic stuff, if there is anyway we can help we will," Terra said.

"We will?" Beast Boy asked looking at his girlfriend shocked.

"Yes we will, we promised to help her," Robin said nodding his head. Sapphira squealed with Joy and flew off to her room. She returned with a list for the Titans. She handed it to Terra.

"If you need anything I am a call away," Sapphira said holding out her communicator. The Titans nodded their heads.

-Seventh Titan-

Robin followed Starfire and Terra into a marshy area just outside the city. The Titans had split into two groups to try and find the ingredients that Sapphira needed. Robin, Starfire, and Terra had taken to getting the nature related items that could only be found outside the city. Terra was a big help with her earth bending abilities.

"I got mud from the bottom of a frog filled pond," Terra said holding up a jar. She did not look too pleased about it either.

"Ok that only leaves ground Fairy dust," Robin said.

"Where do we find ground fairies?" Terra asked.

"I have no idea," Robin sighed.

"We should ask Sapphira," Starfire suggested. The other two nodded their heads in agreement. She pulled her communicator out. She waited until Sapphira picked up.

"Hey Star, make it quick, I am on the tail of a gremlin from the sewers," Sapphira said quickly, "He's a tricky little bugger," she added quickly.

"We are looking for ground fairies, and we do not know which way to go," Starfire said.

"Oh ground fairies dwell in the woods near the purest ponds," Sapphira answered. "I'm not sure where exactly, but good luck, I gotta go before this little bugger gets away," Sapphira replied as she hung up.

"Oh great, this is gonna be fun," Robin said sarcastically.

"Relax, we'll figure this out, it can't be that hard," Terra said.

"Terra is right, Sapphira would not give us the list if she didn't think we could not do it," Starfire agreed.

"Ok lead the way then," Robin said gesturing for the two to go.

"Gladly, birdbrain," Terra said pushing past him. Starfire followed with Robin taking up the rear.

Terra had no idea where she was going, but she was going to at least try. They had to help Sapphira. Robin's lack of enthusiasm wasn't going to keep them from getting the job done.

-Seventh Titan-

"This is hopeless," Beast Boy sighed.

Beast Boy was with Raven and Cyborg and they were heading about the city collecting items for Sapphira. They had gotten the herbs she needed from a chinese medicine store. They were now on the search for a rat in the sewers.

"You can transform into a rat, where would they hide?" Cyborg asked the changeling.

"I can turn into them, I don't know what they do," Beast Boy retorted.

"I'm gonna call and ask Saph if she's looking for anything in particular," Raven said pulling her communicator out. She quickly called Sapphira.

"Hey Raven, make it quick I am kind of busy," Sapphira said glancing over her shoulder.

"What kind of rat do you need? Does it have to be specific," Raven asked.

"Yes, sorry I has to be a black rat, I had one before but I set him free in the sewer, Beast Boy should be helpful," Sapphira said as she yelped. "Gotta go this Snorc is not happy with me," she said. the call ended and the three Titans shared a look.

"I hope the others are having better luck than us," Cyborg said.

"Ok I'm gonna scout ahead and try and find this rat, get the cage ready," Beast Boy said as he walked ahead. He transformed into a rat and took off.

-Seventh Titan-

Sapphira looked over everything she had managed to gather. It had taken a lot of work, but in the end it would be worth it. She looked up as the door whooshed open. Raven, Cyborg, and Beast Boy walked into the room. Beast Boy was holding a cage that had a black rat in it.

"You're not gonna hurt the little guy are you?" Beast Boy asked looking at the rat.

"Only you would bond with a sewer dweller," Raven said looking over at Beast Boy.

"Never, I just need some of his hair for the potion," Sapphira said walking over to the three. Se grabbed the cage and looked at the rat.

"He's perfect," Sapphira said.

"Have the others come back yet?" Cyborg asked.

"Yeah, is Terra back?" Beast Boy asked.

"Not yet, they haven't called lately, I don't think they ran into any trouble," Sapphira said.

The door whooshed open again. The others all looked to the three Titans as they walked into the room. They were all soaking and covered in mud. Terra didn't look as mad as Robin did.

"What happened?" Beast Boy asked.

"I told him to stay put and he got antsy," Terra said giggling.

"I was in the way," Starfire added.

"He fell?" Raven asked.

"That's one way to put it," Robin said glaring at Terra who only laughed and looking away from the angry leader.

"Did you get what I needed though?" Sapphira asked.

"Yes," Terra said slipping a backpack from her shoulders and handing it to Sapphira. Sapphira quickly opened the bag and looked through it.

"Thanks, this made things so much easier," Sapphira said smiling and looking up at the TItans.

"I am going to go shower," Robin said grumpily. Terra and Starfire nodded their heads in agreement. The three left the room.

Sapphira thanked the others again and took off to her bedroom. She needed to get started on this potion again. She locked herself in her room and started once more.

-Seventh Titan-

Robin walked back out to the living room after his shower. He felt clean and relaxed after Terra had made him slip. He saw Starfire sitting on the couch with Beast Boy and Cyborg playing video games again. They were always playing video games. Robin joined the three.

"So she made you fall right?" Beast Boy asked.

"She is denying it, but yes she did," Robin said nodding his head.

"I thought so," Beast Boy said smugly. "Wanna play winner?"

"Sure, I'll play against Cy," Robin teased.

"Oh ha, so funny," Beast Boy replied.

Starfire giggled at the banter between the two. Robin sat back with Starfire watching the two. He eventually placed his arm over Starfire's shoulders and she leaned into him.

"So what was Saph doing with that potion?" Robin asked after a bit.

"I didn't ask," Beast Boy replied.

"Me either," Cyborg added.

The four shared a look before jumping up. They were curious now and wanted to know what the blonde alien was up to. They headed to her bedroom recruiting Terra along the way. They knocked on Sapphira's door.

The door opened to reveal the blonde alien. She was wearing big thick apron and gloves that came up to her elbows.

"What's up guys?" Sapphira asked.

"Hey Saph, we were just wondering what you were up to," Beast Boy said.

"You mean with the potion?" Sapphira asked shedding her gloves. SHe tossed the apron aside as well and let the others into her room. "It's for a sick pixie, I was commission last week to get it done, I collected all the stuff I needed, but I messed it up and had to start over. You guys saved me a lot of time," she said. She led them to her shelf where there was three pixies sitting on a small makeshift bed made out of books. All three pixies had light orange hair and pale skin. The only way to tell the three apart were the colors they were wearing; one in blue, one in red, and the last in green.

"Guys these three are Tally, Mae, and Shay, they are sisters," Sapphira said, "Mae was sick, and they needed the potion but it would take them forever to collect everything. I was in the right place last week when I was fighting a demon," she said.

"Demons again?" Robin asked.

"They are attracted to me like flies to honey," Sapphira said.

"Anyways you agreed to help them out," Terra said walking up to the pixies.

"Hello, I am Tally," the one in blue said flying up to Terra's eye level. "Your friend saved our sister," she said.

"Saph's good for that," Terra said smiling. "I'm sorry, we've just never met any pixies before," she added.

"We live all around, we don't often let people see us," the one in red said quickly.

"Relax Mae, they will keep our secret," Tally said.

"You will won't you?" Shay, the one in green, asked.

"No we won't, you can keep your lives peacefully," Sapphira promised.

"Yeah, your secret is safe with us," Robin said.

"Thank you, we are eternally grateful," Mae said.

"It's no biggie, now I know where to go if I ever need pixie dust," Sapphira said with a smile. She walked over to Mae and held her hand out to her. Mae climbed into her hand. "How are you feeling?" she asked.

"Much better thank you Sapphira," Mae said her wings lifted from her body and she flew up and kissed Sapphira on the cheek. Sapphira smiled and walked to the window. She opened the window for the pixies.

"Thank you so much Sapphira, we wish you luck on your journey and hope you find what you're looking for," Shay said as she and Tally joined Mae at the window. The three thanked Sapphira once more before they left.

"We had no idea you were helping pixies," Starfire said.

"Yeah, like I said I was in the right place at the right time," Sapphira said shrugging.

Wildfire sighed as he looked up at the old house he and Fiyero had managed to hole up in. Fiyero refused to sleep on the ground anymore. He had standards apparently, something Wildfire didn't get. Fiyero blamed his Tamaranean roots and said it wasn't his fault. Wildfire, used to the comments of his friend, wasn't really affected much. It was after that Fiyero had managed to get some money and sent Wildfire for his new favorite food.

Wildfire quickly slipped inside the old house and found Fiyero sitting on the counter in the kitchen. The banished prince smiled when he saw his friend.

"Did you get some food?" Fiyero asked eagerly.

"Yes," Wildfire said setting the paper bag on the counter. "Do I want to know where you got the money from?"

"When you're banished, you learn a few tricks," Fiyero replied. It was no secret that Fiyero had lived on the streets for a fraction of his life. It wasn't something he was proud of and didn't talk about it much. He opened the bag and pulled the food out. He grabbed a burger and started to scarf it down. "This world has such strange foods, but they are delicious," he said looking to Wildfire.

"You are a pain in the neck sometimes," Wildfire sighed.

"Hey, you asked me to come along," Fiyero retorted through a face full of food.

"Don't remind me, you're not much of a help," Wildfire sighed.

"What do you want me to do, you're the one who's scared to do anything. I mean you found her, but you didn't tell her who you were," Fiyero said shaking his head as he grabbed some french fries from the bag.

"She doesn't remember me," Wildfire said hanging his head. "Whatever happened to her between the attack on Garadonia and now, she doesn't remember," he said.

"Well, let's find out what happened on Garadonia," Fiyero said jumping off the counter.

"How?" Wildfire asked glad that Fiyero was trying to help.

"I'm not sure, but there are demons crawling in this city, maybe one of them knows," Fiyero suggested.

"See, this is why I brought you along, underneath that proper I-am-better-than-you attitude is a brain, somewhere," WIldfire teased his friend.

"Alright, I'm going back to my burger, have fun searching on your own," Fiyero said.

"Knock it off, Fi you know I am joking and I appreciate your help in all of this," Wildfire said.
