The Pharaoh' Summoner 8

A/N: I just realized I haven't touched this story in over five years. So sorry to my loyal readers for this story. I've just gotten inspiration back for it so here it is. The next chapter of the Pharaoh's Summoner.

Akita woke slowly from the drug like sleep that expending too much energy always put her through. Everything ached like nothing had ever before.

"Hey you okay?" she heard beside her.

The smaller version of her Pharaoh stared back at her concern clear in his innocent eyes. She sat up slowly and regretted the movement as the room started spinning. Her eyes slid shut. Thankfully, she wasn't nauseous. Most times after using Ra she was down for a long time. There was the strange inkling that maybe being in the presence of the Pharaoh might've lessened the effects of using Ra on her body.

"Where am I?"

"You're in my Grandfather's game shop."

She nodded her head tiredly. For one small saving grace she didn't have class or work today.

"Are you well Summoner?"

Her head came up seeing Yami staring at her. Shivers ran down her spine at the familiar baritone. His eyes were hard and dark. She fought the urge to cringe at the look he was sending her way. Her eyes narrowed back at him. She wasn't a servant anymore except to Ra, himself.

"Keep glaring Pharaoh but until I can get my thoughts straight you're not going to get answers."

"Guys," Yugi tried. "Please don't fight."

Akita rubbed her forehead and leaned back against the wall. Her body ached. Sometimes she hated the Winged Dragon of Ra. A low rumbling growl escaped him in her mind. Blindly she reached for her deck that wasn't on her hip and she started panicking. Then she looked up at the two and her decks were on the nightstand. A soft whine escaped her as she looked at the decks that were her bane and saving grace. At one point in her life all she needed was the smaller deck, but to gain entrance in the world where the Pharaoh was she needed another deck.

"What's wrong?" Yugi asked.

"Nothing."

She reached for her larger deck in which she used for non-summoner duels. Flipping through her deck she pulled out the Mystic Elf and summoned the elf. The elf had kind eyes that new that her mistress needed her. Reaching forward the elf knew Akita needed healing. Her gentle blue energies surrounded her working on the wounds that needed help. Akita relaxed underneath the gentle touches and healing of the elf.

'You should take better care Mistress,' the elf's voice chimed in her head.

"Some idiot started a fight last night that Ra wanted to finish."

Mystic Elf nodded her head in understanding. When Ra wanted to fight Akita wouldn't be able to summon her immediately to assist her. Once the healing was done the Elf vanished into her card. Akita sighed softly in annoyance. Now that her head was clear she could start processing things normally. Carefully she placed the card back in her duel deck and went for the smaller deck. She could feel Ra's rumbling as she touched the deck but it was silenced by the whispers of her four loyalty cards which she was grateful for.

"You have two decks?" Yami finally said.

"Yes, the thicker deck is for duels and the second is for summoning battles. I don't require a lot of cards for a summoning battle only because using too many cards costs energy. Besides not many are able to summon more than three in one go."

"You were talking about ranking last night."

"Yes, I'm a white summoner. The highest ranking in the world. I think only three had come before me."

"Arrogant aren't you?" Yami asked.

She sighed softly. There was so much hostility and seething anger underneath the cool façade. Even after three thousand years she could still read him. he never could hide from her, except for one time. She'd known information but refused to tell him where his sister was when she went missing. It took her many months to get him to trust her again and it nearly took her dying for him to come back to her side.

"Guys, guys please don't."

"Are you angry that I have Ra?"

Akita looked him in the eye. He turned his head away. "I've been guarding him since Marik gave him to me. I'd rather not have him in my possession."

She grabbed the smaller deck and fished out Ra and held him up. The dragon shifted as she moved the card.

"Why not he's a powerful card?" Yugi finally piped up.

"Because when a summoner gets a card they have to form some kind of connection to be able to work flawlessly and not expend so much energy. Ra hated me back in Egypt and he hates me now in the future."

"Wait what?" Yugi asked.

"I've had Ra in my possession before over three thousand years ago. Inadvertently, not being able to control him signed my death warrant with his elders. Well, that and other factors."

The two stared at each other for a moment before Akita turned her gaze away. This was worse than him mistrusting her, there was nothing but contempt in his eyes. "Anyway, a normal summoner only has one or two Loyalty Cards, I have four working on a fifth."

"Loyalty Card?"

"A card I've formed a bond with that is deeper than the normal bond. Mystic Elf, I have a bond with and it is tempered with affection, but she's not a Loyalty Card. It still takes a bit of energy to summon her. Though it's not as big a cost as Ra is. I think he draws that much just to spite me."

She scooted to the edge of the bed and sat there looking at the two. Her strength was starting to return.

"What are your Loyalty Cards?" Yugi asked her.

He reminded her of a small eager puppy. She hoped that he never lost that innocence it was a rare thing in teenagers anymore.

"Celtic Guardian, Silverfang, Fire Winged Pegasus, Little Chimera and soon Dark Magician."

Yugi thought over those cards for a moment. Then realization hit him.

"I have three of those in my deck."

She smiled softly at the little Light. He was adorable to her.

"Yes, I know and there's a reason for that and no I won't say why. All the two of you need to know is that I have a past with the Pharaoh and I've been sent by the God Ra to assist you in regaining what you've lost."

There was mistrust in his eyes and that hurt her heart, but she wouldn't show it. She'd become that slave once again, who so long ago trusted no one but herself and expect all others but a select few not to hurt her. "Trust me, don't trust me I honestly don't care, but I have been sent to help you."

"Do you remember your past completely?"

"Yes, I know my past entirely. It's as if I went to sleep back in ancient Egypt and woke to the modern world in the tomb of the Pharaoh."

"Wait what? Tomb?" Yugi asked. "They actually never found the Pharaoh's tomb. He was sucked into the puzzle."

She just smiled softly. Her Pharaoh's Light was so innocent it was adorable. She wondered if they'd been allowed a son alongside their daughter would he have been much like Yugi.

"There was a body kid they were just made to believe that there hadn't been one. The scientists haven't but I have been in the tomb. It was so well hidden and for a reason it was hidden."

"What reason?"

"The Pharaoh is buried alongside someone else."

"His Queen," Yugi piped up.

Yami listened on quietly. There hadn't been any record of a Queen to stand beside him.

"No, he had no Queen. They hadn't wanted the world to know about the love they shared. He was a pharaoh and she a mere slave."

Suddenly something clicked in his mind at her words. She was trying to hide emotions when talking about the woman he'd supposedly love so much. Now he understood those looks she'd given him. The sadness that hung around her like a too heavy blanket. The woman was suffering alone in her sadness with no one to lift her up.

"You were my…"

She bowed her head. Tears were sliding down her cheeks. Yugi looked back and forth between the pair. Then did realization dawn on him too.

"I was. I didn't want to burden you my Pharaoh with such knowledge. It was in the past."

Raising her head she ignored the tears. "We have a mission my Pharaoh Marik is still a threat and needs to be stopped as much as it pains me to admit the possibility."

"Why?"

"Because my best friend loves him."

"Marik?!" Yugi squeaked.

"Yes, Marik. He wasn't always like this. The Marik I knew was kind and gentle. What he is now is because of the possession of the Rod."

The sound of car doors slamming made the conversation stop. Akita felt a flicker of familiar power. Getting up she moved to the window to see Kaiba with a few of his guards moving towards the game shop.

"Great now this idiot."

Yugi stood beside her seeing the businessman.

"It's just Kaiba. You know him?"

"No, I know the past Seto. I knew the man not the boy."

She rose slowly and trembled. Dark Magician appeared at her side and steadied her. The bond between her and the new card shifted to something that made her smile. It clicked into place seamlessly.

"Thank you."

He nodded his head and gave her a small smile. The stoic magician card made her heart ache. This card was all that was left of the priest she'd known so long ago. He'd only walked into her life for a short period before Bakura killed him for his millennium item. Mahado hadn't acted like the others towards her. There was no measure of distain in his eyes. Mahado probably would be one of the few that wouldn't have made them hide their relationship. Then maybe Atem could've known the daughter they'd had.

"I guess we should go out and meet the moron."

"You down him as if you know him and yet you don't."

"We had a few issues in the past even though he hid from the others the relationship he knew was going on. Though considering the times the fact the Pharaoh never used his harem or betrayed me that was saying something."

Light and Dark looked at each other in confusion. The Dark Magician paced beside her quietly like some type of sentinel. She'd be grateful for his presence soon enough. Seto was standing in the doorway as she hit the bottom step. Her eyes narrowed when hers met his. He scrutinized her features for a moment and then something clicked in his mind. A feral grin spread across her features.

"What are you doing here priest? Shouldn't you be looking for your Blue Eyes?"

The confusion in his eyes made her start laughing so hard she had to lean against the Dark Magician. Once she calmed down a moment she saw Seto's face and started laughing again.

"Stop laughing!" Seto growled.

"I can't…" she gasped between breaths.

'Mistress?'

She finally calmed down staring into the deep eyes of her new Loyalty Card. Taking a deep breath she faced Seto.

"I have all of my Blue Eyes what could you possibly mean…"

"There is a person out there that embodies your precious Blue Eyes, Seto and she's looking for you."

"Stop changing the subject."

"I'm not Priest Seto. Kisara is out there somewhere looking for you."

"I came here for a reason," he snapped suddenly.

His attention turned towards the Dark Magician and then to the two behind them to the old man standing beside the boys. Seto moved towards them and as soon as he stepped near her everything froze inside of her. There was a dull rumble of power inside of her mind as Ra stirred. Her eyes narrowed as she grabbed Seto's arm.

"You foolish boy," she snarled.

Everyone was taken aback by her harsh words. Her eyes were flashing dangerously. "You carry around a god card like any other card. There are those who'd kill for the Tormentor."

"How…"

"I can sense them."

"Sense them?"

He was one of those who didn't believe magic existed in the world.

"Did you not think the God Cards have a power unto themselves? I've had all three in my possession before so I know their energies."

"You lie."

"Do I?" she taunted.

She held out her hand. "Give me your deck and I'll prove to you what I know."

"How?"

"Just take all the monsters from your deck and put them in your hand and I'll tell you what monster I'm touching. Blind fold me if you must, but I will tell you the monsters in your deck."

"A lot of people know what's generally in my deck."

She snorted at his words. He'd never understand what stood before him, and what he understood in the past.

"You don't know me and I will know your deck. I wouldn't duel like you do if I didn't have to and I couldn't care less what's in your deck. You're cards souls mirror your anger except for one card and that's the Blue Eyes. The Blue Eyes is tempered with her soul."

He looked at the others in confusion. Seto drew his deck and pulled the monsters out and held the deck out. He fanned out the cards in his deck in his hand. Closing her eyes she took a deep breath and reached for the deck. Her fingers came in contact with a Blue Eyes and there were whispers from the dragons. When she made sense of their words her eyes opened and she glared at him.

"You tore up a freaking Blue Eyes with a soul?" she snarled.

"What? I did tear up…"

"You moron. Do you realize what you could've done?!"

"Instead of insulting me tell me what you mean about it having a soul they're just cards."

She rolled her eyes in annoyance. Ignoring him she continued to search the cards. Once she got through the deck she knew the Tormentor wasn't there.

"You know if you think you can hide the Tormentor in your jacket you have another thing coming."

There was shock written on his face that he was trying to conceal. She handed him his deck back. "Each monster to a Summoner has a soul. One that can be hurt and can bleed and if the circumstances are right, die. You're lucky though the soul of the Blue Eyes you tore up went elsewhere."

Her energy was starting to waver again. Dark Magician steadied her. Yami must've caught her wavering because he spoke.

"What is it you've come for Seto? She's not yet well enough to take on anyone else."

"To make amends with your grandfather."

The older man cocked his head to the side in confusion. The men started talking as she leaned against the Magician. There was a growing concern for the Summoner. She wasn't recovered completely.

'Mistress. You have to rest.'

"I know," she murmured tiredly.

She closed her eyes. "But we need to find a Dragon Master. They're here I can feel them."

All eyes were on her now. Yugi looked at the tired summoner worriedly. He and his Dark exchanged glances. Seto watched her before gesturing for his guards to follow him. He stopped to look at her.

"I'll pay you to help me find the other two."

"No, no amount of money will convince me to betray my Pharaoh."

Yami looked at her in shock. Akita her head dipped down before she came up and met his eyes. Seto snorted and walked away. She sighed softly. The Pharaoh looked at Akita wondering whether or not he could really trust this woman that said she had a connection with him in the past, a past he couldn't remember.

"You believe that?" Yami asked.

"I'm a servant to Ra and my beloved Pharaoh."

They watched each other for a moment before he spoke up.

"I'm not exactly that person anymore."

"I know and that's what hurts the most."

There was so much pain and suffering in her eyes. It made the Dark flinch. One only had eyes like that when they suffered greatly. The Dark Magician picked her up as a familiar blue winged stallion stood outside pawing at the ground. He placed her over the stallion's back.

"I need to rest, away from you but we'll be in touch."

"You can't go by yourself," Yugi protested.

"He doesn't trust me, kid. And I need to recover and find that Dragon Master."

Yugi looked at his dark and then the woman draped over the shoulder of the blue stallion. The Dark Magician had a hand on her shoulder to keep her on the stallion's back.

'We will return,' his voice reverberated through their minds. 'She won't leave you alone long now that she has found you.'

The Dark Magician got on the stallions back and the trio shot skyward and vanished. They returned to her apartment and the Magician tucked the exhausted summoner in her bed. He moved down the hall and stopped seeing paintings dotting the hallway. He froze seeing a portrait of her and the Pharaoh sitting together under the light of the moon on a sand dune. Then the next made him stop and stare. It was him staring out over the Nile.

'She liked you a lot the short time she knew you.'

He looked down at the purple winged cat. 'You are one of us now. It's your job to protect her where we cannot.'

'I will do my best.'

The cat nodded before pacing back to where she came from. The Dark Magician moved back to her room and sat beside her bed waiting for the time when he'd be needed by his new Mistress.
