Olivia opened the car door and thanked Elliot for the ride. She was exhausted and had forgotten her promise to Elliot to tell him what he wanted to know.
"I'll see you tomorrow El. I can drive in tomorrow." Olivia smiled at her partner, closed the car door and walked into her building. She had gotten halfway up the first flight of stairs when Elliot called out to her.
"Liv," came Elliot's voice. He was at the bottom of the stairs, not wanting to scare her. "You promised to talk to me, remember?"
"Yeah, sorry. I'm just tired. Come up, I'll get you something to drink." Olivia continued climbing the stairs, wishing that this was just a nightmare.
"Liv, you don't have to talk to me." Elliot shut the apartment door behind him. He wasn't in a hurry since no-one was waiting for him at his apartment. He sat down on the couch. "If it's painful, you don't have to say anything."
"No, I promised, and I think that it might be better to talk to someone." Olivia handed a glass of juice to Elliot and sat down next to him. "I pretty much told Donahue that I couldn't remember anything. I gave him as best a description as I could, but it wasn't much. They have him on camera, but the image is really poor. There isn't much they can do."
"Yeah, they can do a lot Liv. You know how good CSU techs are. They'll find him, and if they don't, then I will." Elliot hugged his partner. "I promise that much."
"Detective Benson?" asked a man on the phone.
"Yes, what can I do for you?" asked Olivia. She was making breakfast for herself and Elliot since he had stayed the night at her apartment.
"It's Captain Donahue. I have some good news for you. Last night CSU sent me a clear copy of the camera footage. We caught your attacker in a random traffic stop. He's being questioned as we speak. Did you want to talk to him?"
"No way!" Olivia's voice rose a couple of octaves. Elliot came in to the kitchen and caught the knife as it dropped from Olivia's hand. "I never want to have any contact with him Captain."
"Fair enough. Did you want to be informed when he goes to court?"
"Only if I have to testify. Otherwise, I only want to know the outcome." Olivia hung up and turned around. Elliot was standing there, looking astonished. "Sorry El. You were right, Captain Donahue found him."
"Good." Elliot handed the knife back to Olivia. "What's going to happen to him?"
"He's being interrogated at the moment. I don't want to know anything except the outcome."
Elliot smiled. He helped Olivia make the rest of their breakfast, but kept an eye on his friend the whole time, just to make sure that she was okay.
Two days had passed since Olivia's phone conversation with Donahue. She had been informed that she would not need to testify in court, which had made her happy. The team could tell that she was feeling a whole heap better now. They had stopped worrying about her so much too. Olivia felt like everything was back to normal now.
