Allie crossed the yard to the building that they called the garage. Sam had built the large storage shed for Emily to keep her crafting things in after Allie was born. Sam was building new shelves to hold the ever growing things that came from having three growing girls.
"Hey dad," Allie dropped onto a box next to Sam, her paper in hand.
"Hey pumpkin, how was school?"
"It was good. I got my paper back," Allie said. Sam sat the shelf down and turned to look at his daughter. He fought back a grin, she looked pathetic. She was holding the piece of paper out towards him while staring at the floor, scuffing her feet over the small pieces of scrap wood littering around him.
"A B, that's great! I know you worked hard on this. Good job," he ruffled her hair, smiling when she pushed him away with a look disgust.
"I worked really hard dad, I promise! Aunt Bella said that my grades are getting better too. And I've done all my chores this week. Can I please go to Becky's birthday party Saturday? Everyone is going to be there. We haven't been skating in forever. Please daddy?" Allie pleaded. She turned on the sad eyes that usually worked on him.
Sam sighed, eyeing his daughter. He saw through the act but she had a point. She had worked hard to get her grades up.
"You understand why I grounded you right?"
"I know dad," she said rolling her eyes.
"No Allie I mean it. You've got to keep your grades up, do all of your chores and help your mom with your sisters. If I hear you back talk your mom ever again you will be grounded for the rest of your life, got it?" Allie sighed but nodded her head.
"Alright, you can go to the party."
"Thank you daddy!" Allie wrapped her arms around Sam with a happy squeal.
"But you are still grounded until then. Go help your mom finish dinner," Sam said hugging his oldest daughter.
"I will! I love you! I'm going to call Becky!" Sam shook his head as she fled out the door.
