Just as promised, here is another chapter for the weekend! I hope you enjoy, and I would love to hear what you think!

I do not own Criminal Minds.

It was the next day and Emily had just walked into the conference room from getting a cup of coffee when Hotch stopped her, "I want you and Roust to take over the tail on Sheila Grant."

"Hotch, I can do the tail by myself–"

"It was not a request," he said sternly.

Emily sighed and went to go find Roust. This time she made sure to drive. After communicating with the officers currently assigned to Grant, Emily and Roust pulled out of the PD and headed to the grocery store.

Emily put the car back in drive when Sheila Grant walk out of the grocery store twenty minutes later.

"How exactly is following a lawyer helping us with this case?" Roust asked.

"She knows something, we might gain insight by seeing where she goes," Emily explained without looking at him.

"So far the only insight I've gained is that she she likes to go grocery shopping during the middle of the work day."

Emily said nothing, waiting for Sheila to get in her car.

"Why can't we have a uniform do this?"

"If you've got something more important to do, you're free to find your own way back."

"The station's ten miles from here."

Emily glanced at him and smiled tightly, "then you might want to start using those observations skills you learned at the academy."

Roust pulled his lips back in contempt, but said nothing.

When Sheila's car moved past them, Emily waited a moment and then pulled into traffic. She stayed at least three cars behind her, trying to anticipate any turns she might make. As much as she would have preferred not to be locked in a car with Roust; Grant knew something, and they had to find out what it was.

They were driving toward the center of Seattle and Emily began to recognize the streets. They had spend their first night here, canvassing the area, hoping someone had seen Elle. While a few people recognized her, they had barely anything helpful to say.

Emily almost missed the left turn Sheila made, but quickly switched lanes and followed behind. The dark sedan then pulled into a parking lot on the left, and Emily continued down the street, pulling to the curb.

To her left was a medium sized building. It was four floors tall and made of brick. Emily watched as Grant got out of her car and then disappeared through the front door. Emily pulled out her phone.

"Hey Hotch, we might have something," Emily said when he answered the phone, "Grant just walked into Motel 16. It's on Third Street."

"Okay, this could be something."

"Do you want us to go in?"

"No, keep the tail, I'll send Morgan. Let's get an idea of what this is about before we make our move."

Emily didn't let the disappointment be heard in her voice, "okay. I'll call if anything else happens."

Emily hung up and tucked the phone back in her pocket.

"What's so important about a motel?" Roust asked, checking his watch.

Emily sighed and turned to face him. "Why is a thousand dollar an hour lawyer going into a motel in the middle to the city?"

Roust shrugged.

Emily shook her head. "And if you'd been using those observation skills we'd talked about, then you would have noticed that we're only a block from where Detective Greenaway went missing. And this is the direction the witness said she was walking."

"You mean the homeless man? You really think that's conclusive evidence?"

Emily slowly took a deep breath and released it through her nose. "How long have you been on this case, Roust?"

"Since the fourth body."

"You mean Gladys Summers?"

Roust's eyes were blank.

"Gladys Summers. The fourth victim. She had two daughters and a son. She and her husband lost their jobs five months ago and they lost their house soon after. She had just found another job and was working nights at the hospital." Emily turned so she was square with Roust, "Until you start to think of these women as people, you are going to get nowhere. What have you done since you've been on this case? What have you done to catch this killer and protect all of the other women and families out there?"

Roust's face had turned red, and Emily was glad to see Sheila exit the motel and walk to her car. She followed her back to her office and sat outside, the inside of the car a few degrees warmer.

Morgan and Yanik walked into the motel and went straight to the front desk. Derek took out a picture of Sheila he had printed and put it on the counter. "Give me a room key or I come back with a warrant and clear out everyone staying here."

The man behind the counter looked at them with wide eyes for a moment and then hesitantly lifted a key from under the table. He handed it to them saying nothing.

Morgan wasn't sure what he had been expecting when he opened the motel door; but it sure hadn't been the two young girls who were staring back at him. The older couldn't have been more than seven. And she had a gun pointed right at them.

What is going to happen?
