ONE WEEK LATER
DALE VIEW COTTAGE – MORNING
Ross and Caitlin are lying in his bed
ROSS: Do you fancy going away this weekend?
CAITLIN: Where? Why?
ROSS: Well I just fancied having you all to myself
Caitlin frowns
CAITLIN: Eh hello, you've got me all to yourself right now
ROSS: Yeah, but I thought we could do some fun stuff
Caitlin widens her eyes at Ross
CAITLIN: Is this not fun enough for you?
ROSS: Of course it is, I just thought we could hang out and do other fun stuff
CAITLIN: Oh ok, so the sex is too sordid for you?
Ross is taken aback
ROSS: What, where's that come from?
Caitlin smiles
CAITLIN: I'm joking. What were you thinking?
ROSS: Ok. Well I was thinking we could go ice skating
Caitlin looks at Ross as if he is mad
CAITLIN: When have I ever given you any hints that that would remotely be something I'd want to do?
ROSS: Why, you frightened you'll ruin your manicure?
CAITLIN: No I'm frightened I'll break my neck
ROSS: Such a piker
CAITLIN: I'll take being a piker over safety then
ROSS: Well you come up with something then
Ross clasps his hand in Caitlin's
CAITLIN: Could have a couple's spa day
Ross laughs
ROSS: Do I look like I do spa days?
CAITLIN: I don't know Ross, do I look like I do ice skating?
They look awkwardly at each other as they realise that they don't have anything in common
CAITLIN: I mean apart from fancying each other do we have anything in common?
ROSS: Of course we do
Caitlin laughs
CAITLIN: Ok, well let me know when you think of something won't you?
ROSS: Are you hungry?
Caitlin shakes her head
ROSS: Great, we don't even have that in common
CAITLIN: We could go somewhere and check out the pubs and clubs and go bowling
ROSS: Sounds good
CAITLIN: Just one little pint sized problem
ROSS: Milana? Well that's what her dad's for, or you could always ask loopy Laurel?
CAITLIN: Yeah, but what reason could I give?
ROSS: I don't know; say anything, use work or something
CAITLIN: Hmmm, you're not just a gorgeous face you
Caitlin kisses Ross, his phone beeps, he checks it
CAITLIN: That better not be Chelsea
Ross laughs
ROSS: Awwwwe I have to go, got a call out
Caitlin puts on a sad face
CAITLIN: I'm sure you can spare 10 more minutes; I can definitely make it worth your while
Caitlin pulls the duvet over their heads
TALL TREES COTTAGE – MORNING
Caitlin sneaks into the house, she goes into the kitchen, breathing a sigh of relief she puts the kettle on, Laurel comes in the back door, giving her a huge fright
LAUREL: Oh, I didn't realise I was that frightening
Caitlin smiles nervously
CAITLIN: No, I just didn't think anyone was in
LAUREL: Clearly, where have you snuck in from?
CAITLIN: Nowhere
Laurel looks intrigued
LAUREL: Are you seeing someone?
Caitlin looks awkward
CAITLIN: Kind of
LAUREL: Someone round here?
CAITLIN: No, just someone I met in the pub when I was doing a shift. Do you want a coffee?
LAUREL: Yeah, why not? You can tell me all about him
CAITLIN: Is Milana ok?
LAUREL: Yeah, Marlon's taken her to nursery
Caitlin pours water into cups
CAITLIN: Actually I've got something to ask you about the weekend
LAUREL: Can we look after Milana so you can go out?
Caitlin looks surprised
CAITLIN: Well yeah, I mean I was gonna ask Aaron if you couldn't, but if you can that'd be great
LAUREL: Which night, Friday or Saturday?
Caitlin folds her lips
CAITLIN: Actually the whole weekend if that'd be ok?
Laurel looks surprised as she leans on the worktop
LAUREL: Oh, you doing something nice?
CAITLIN: I'm going away with a friend
LAUREL: Wouldn't be this friend you've just been with would it?
Caitlin puts the mugs on the worktop
She smiles awkwardly again
CAITLIN: Well yeah it is
LAUREL: Who am I to stand in the way of a dirty weekend?
Laurel smiles as she sips her coffee
CAITLIN: Great, thanks
Caitlin sips her coffee breathing another sigh of relief as she smiles
THE GARAGE – AFTERNOON
Caitlin walks up the gravel to the garage as Ross walks out sipping a mug of tea
CAITLIN: That is pretty much all you mechanics do isn't it, skive off drinking tea?
ROSS: Hey, I resent that, I'm a hard worker
CAITLIN: Hah, what fixing cars, or other things?
ROSS: Well you should know
They both laugh
CAITLIN: We're on for the weekend by the way, Laurel's gonna have Milana
ROSS: Great
They smile at each other as Ross see's Aaron coming towards the garage
ROSS: Watch out, father of your daughter incoming
Aaron approaches, he frowns at Caitlin
AARON: What are you doing here?
Caitlin looks at Aaron
CAITLIN: It's a garage Aaron; I came to talk to the mechanic about my car
AARON: I'm a mechanic
CAITLIN: What so I can only talk to you if I come here? Well you've only just arrived
Aaron steps between Ross and Caitlin
AARON: Well I'm here now, so talk to me
CAITLIN: Well I've already spoken to your "colleague" here; besides, I had to have a go at him for being a slack arse
Caitlin and Ross smile at each other
CAITLIN: See'ya later, probably in the pub, your mum's got me doing another shift
Caitlin walks down the gravel, Aaron turns, looking suspiciously at Ross as Caitlin looks back at him smiling
ROSS: Better get back to work hadn't I? Since I've just had my knuckles rapped
Ross smiles sarcastically at Aaron as he throws the rest of his tea out on the ground; Aaron looks on as he goes inside with the mug
THE WOOLPACK – EVENING
Caitlin is serving a male customer who she knows from previous shifts
BRAYDON: So have you decided about that date yet?
Caitlin puts on a thinking face
CAITLIN: Still thinking, but I'm pretty sure it'll be a no, sorry
BRAYDON: Well I can be persuasive so I won't give up
Caitlin smiles at Braydon as he takes his pint to the table where he's sitting with friends, Ross walks in and goes to the bar
ROSS: Slack arse, really?
Caitlin smiles
CAITLIN: Well I had to say something didn't I?
ROSS: Yeah, but not that you think I'm a slack arse
Ross puts on a sad face
CAITLIN: Awwwe, would a pint help?
ROSS: It might help heal the hurt a bit yeah
Caitlin puts the pint in front of Ross
CAITLIN: £3.20 please
Ross looks surprised
CAITLIN: Awe sorry, did I say that I was paying?
Caitlin smiles smugly as she puts her hand out; Ross relents and puts his hand in his pocket
ROSS: Such a tease
CAITLIN: Well you know I thought you might like me to apologise in kind and it is a nice arse so I really wouldn't mind
Ross looks happy
ROSS: So does that mean you're staying over again tonight?
Caitlin thinks
CAITLIN: It means I might make you wait till the weekend
Ross looks deflated
CAITLIN: Well we have to have something to do
Aaron walks through the door, he sees Ross standing at the bar with Caitlin, he approaches
AARON: Well don't you two look cosy?
Caitlin frowns
CAITLIN: I was serving him a drink, God, I'm not allowed to talk to him in his capacity as a mechanic and now I'm not allowed to serve him as a customer, what would you have me do?
Ross looks smug
ROSS: Cheers barmaid
Ross goes to sit at a table as Laurel and Rhona enter
CAITLIN: God this place is getting busier than Burke Street
Ross comes back to the bar
ROSS: Forgot I wanted a bag of nuts
CAITLIN: Salted or roasted?
ROSS: Salted
Caitlin goes over to the peanuts and pulls one off the cardboard holder
LAUREL: I've solved all your problems
Caitlin looks weirdly at Laurel
CAITLIN: What, mine? I didn't know I had that many, but if it's money then I accept
Caitlin smiles
LAUREL: No, I've signed you up for speed dating
Caitlin, Ross and Rhona all look equally horrified as Aaron finds it amusing
CAITLIN: What? I don't need to do that, and I told you I'm going away with a friend at the weekend, I might meet someone then
LAUREL: Well it's to save you going on all your hook ups from here
Aaron looks over towards Ross
AARON: Yeah, you're right Laurel, you find all sorts in here, better save her from herself
LAUREL: Yeah, well that's settled then, it's next Tuesday at a bar in town and me or Aaron can have Milana so there's no problem
Laurel and Aaron both smile
Caitlin protests
CAITLIN: No, but I really don't want to
LAUREL: Give it a go, it can't hurt, just see what happens
Laurel hands her a leaflet, she looks panicked and glances over at Ross
DALE VIEW COTTAGE – EVENING
Caitlin knocks on the front door, she waits for a few seconds, Ross opens it, she pushes past him, they stand behind the door
CAITLIN: What am I gonna do?
Ross smiles
ROSS: Well if you told her the truth like I said before, she wouldn't be organising speed dating for you
CAITLIN: You're not helping
Ross clasps his hand in Caitlin's and puts it against the door, kissing her
ROSS: So, are you staying, to you know, apologise in kind?
Caitlin smiles
CAITLIN: What, stay out again, well how can I now? She'll get suss
Ross frowns shaking his head
ROSS: She's your cousin not your mother, and even then you're still a fully paid up member of adult society
Caitlin smiles, wrapping her arms around Ross's neck, kissing him
CAITLIN: Yeah I know, but it's not just her, Aaron's definitely on to us
ROSS: Oh Aaron knows nothing about anything and as long as he doesn't have evidence he can't prove anything
Caitlin squints her face
CAITLIN: Did you book somewhere to stay for the weekend?
ROSS: Yes, it's not the Ritz but it's a nice place
Caitlin looks intrigued
CAITLIN: Oh, so you've been there before then?
ROSS: Yeah
CAITLIN: On your own?
ROSS: Not exactly
Caitlin looks slightly annoyed
CAITLIN: Oh, with one of your many conquests then I take it?
ROSS: Yeah, but don't worry, she won't be there, well, not unless you want me to invite her that is? You don't seem like you'd be into threesome's though
CAITLIN: Oh, so you've still got her number then? That's reassuring
ROSS: Yeah, but I've got your number as well so don't worry
CAITLIN: Hmmm, funny guy
ROSS: I know, they might give me a Golden Globe one day
Caitlin squints her eyes
CAITLIN: You are such a dipstick
ROSS: So are you still sure you can't stay, cause you know even a 10 minute apology would be acceptable?
They kiss. Caitlin clears her throat
CAITLIN: Well, I'm "technically" closing up the pub, which could take a while
ROSS: And we're still standing here talking because…?
Caitlin smiles as she pulls Ross's hand, they rush upstairs to his room, he slams the door, they pull each other's clothes off as they kiss, he lifts her up against the door, she runs her fingers over his hair. Finn goes past and is curious by the banging at the door
FINN: Ross, what you doing in there?
They stop having sex as they look at each other, surprised, Caitlin breathes quietly
ROSS: Eh, nothing, I just dropped something
Finn looks confused as he stands outside the door
FINN: Yeah well drop things more quietly will you? You make such a racket, you give people frights
Caitlin and Ross smile, she slides down the door quietly
CAITLIN: (whispers breathlessly) I'm going
ROSS: (whispers breathlessly) No, we'll just be quiet
Ross kisses Caitlin's neck
CAITLIN: (whispers) Finn's got ears like a bat
ROSS: Come on, you can't just get me going and then leave me high and dry
CAITLIN: (whispers) Ok, but if he comes back I'm blaming you
ROSS: Whatever
They kiss again, moving over to the bed
A few days later
THE VILLAGE BUS STOP – MORNING
Caitlin arrives at the stop with a small suitcase, Ross is already standing in the shelter, folding her arms, she waits beside him
CAITLIN: Hey
ROSS: Hey
She smiles at him
CAITLIN: Off anywhere nice?
ROSS: Oooo I don't know, see when I get there
They smile at each other; Laurel comes across from the café
ROSS: Oh my god, what does she want?
CAITLIN: Be nice
LAUREL: Hey, you're already to go then, well Chas has got Milana; I'm picking her up later
CAITLIN: Thanks
Laurel gives Ross a dirty look
LAUREL: What's he doing here?
Caitlin sniggers
CAITLIN: Well, it's a bus stop Laurel; I think he's waiting for a bus
Laurel folds her arms
LAUREL: Huh, where to, court?
Ross looks offended as Caitlin looks embarrassed
CAITLIN: Laurel, he's not even doing anything, why don't you just leave it?
LAUREL: He's breathing, that's more than enough
Aaron is walking within earshot and approaches
AARON: Couldn't agree more Laurel
Aaron and Laurel both look smug
ROSS: Why don't you just shut your mouth?
AARON: And what, are you gonna make me?
Aaron squares up to Ross ready to start a fight, Caitlin steps in-between them
CAITLIN: (angrily) Enough, both of you, go to work Aaron
Aaron steps back; he scans Caitlin and Ross with a knowing look
AARON: Enjoy your weekend (smiles insincerely)
CAITLIN: Well it'll be a bit hard worrying that you two will tear lumps out of each other while I'm gone
Aaron eyes up Ross's bag
AARON: Oh I don't think that'll be a problem, it doesn't look like he's gonna be here either
Aaron walks away
AARON: I'll call you tonight, round about Milana's bedtime
Laurel looks on, confused
LAUREL: Yeah well, enjoy, see you when you get back
Ross shakes his head
ROSS: I swear I'm gonna deck him one of these days
Caitlin turns round to face him
CAITLIN: No you're not
ROSS: Huh, just you watch me
Ross takes Caitlin's hands, she swings back and forth cause she is cold, Aaron turns, looking back at the bus stop to see what they are doing, he moves a bit closer without being seen
CAITLIN: If you didn't wind each other up and get to each other so much you could probably be mates instead of a pair of idiots
ROSS: Hey, who you calling an idiot?
CAITLIN: Well apart from me there's only one other person standing here
ROSS: Come here you, make you pay for that
Ross pulls Caitlin to a side of the shelter and kisses her, unbeknown to them, Aaron is watching, he shakes his head as the bus comes and he heads towards the garage, Ross and Caitlin get on the bus
THE BUS – MORNING
Caitlin and Ross are sitting at the back of the bus; she pulls out a bag of crisps from a carrier bag
Ross looks on offended
ROSS: Eh, where's mine?
Caitlin looks at him
CAITLIN: In the shop
Ross puts on a sad face, Caitlin smiles; he grabs the crisps from her
ROSS: I'll just have to have these then
CAITLIN: Oi
Caitlin reaches out for the bag, Ross puts his arm up so she can't get them, she moves to try and get them, accidently putting her hand in the private area of his jeans as the bus jerks
Ross laughs
ROSS: Whoa, you can't wait to get your hands on me can you?
Caitlin laughs as she looks embarrassed
CAITLIN: Eh, the bus jerked and my hand slipped
Ross nods his head smiling
ROSS: Yeah, like it slid off the gear stick that day in the car
Caitlin opens her mouth wide with amusement
CAITLIN: Oh my god, you're so disgusting
ROSS: Me disgusting, did you see where you just had your hand? That could be classed as sexual assault, could have you done for that you know, I think I'll take the crisps as payment
Caitlin bursts out laughing
CAITLIN: As if you would ever feel sexually assaulted
Caitlin takes out another bag of crisps, Ross looks in surprise
ROSS: You had another packet all along; anyone would think you planned the whole thing, attacking me like a sex pest
Caitlin smacks Ross's leg
CAITLIN: Stop talking about that, people are looking at us
ROSS: You're really giving me a good going over today
Caitlin smiles shaking her head
CAITLIN: Shut up
Ross takes his phone out
CAITLIN: Oh, getting your little black book of phone contacts out are ya ready to get a stand in for me?
Caitlin eats a handful of crisps, Ross frowns
ROSS: Well if you go on like that I might need to, you'll be the size of a house
CAITLIN: Eh, just cause I "sexually assaulted" you doesn't mean that you can insult me
ROSS: I might not be in the mood later now
CAITLIN: No and I won't be in the mood either if we've got the same room as you were in last time
ROSS: You are so jealous
Caitlin looks at Ross as she eats more crisps
CAITLIN: Yeah well there's no need to look so smug about it, geez
Ross smiles at her
ROSS: Finn texted, just replying to him, don't get jealous cause that'd just be weird
CAITLIN: Yeah well as long as you're not texting that Chelsea chick I'm not bothered
Ross looks up annoyed
ROSS: I was just hanging out with her; I don't see the big deal
CAITLIN: Well she fancies you
ROSS: So do a lot of people
Caitlin shakes her head
Ross frowns at her
ROSS: Why are you trying to pick a fight?
CAITLIN: I'm not, I just don't like you hanging out with girls, cause they fancy you, and you might, well, sleep with them
Ross looks at her weirdly
ROSS: Wow, you've got a high opinion of me, been taking lessons at Laurel's school of poison have you?
CAITLIN: What? Now who's trying to pick a fight?
ROSS: Well just cause people fancy me doesn't mean I'm automatically going to sleep with them
Caitlin looks awkward
CAITLIN: Ok
The bus stops at the Hotten stance
ROSS: Shall we get off here, or do you wanna go home?
Ross gets up and walks off the bus in a huff taking the case and the bag, Caitlin follows, she catches up to him, getting in front of him
CAITLIN: I'm sorry ok?
Ross looks annoyed as he turns his head, Caitlin tilts her head, smiling at him, she puts her hand under his chin, turning his head and leans into his face
CAITLIN: Come on, please don't stay annoyed
Caitlin kisses his nose and looks at him, he tries not to smile, she kisses his lips
CAITLIN: I can see you trying not to smile you know and if you stay annoyed I'll just have to "sexually assault" you again later
Ross relents and smiles
ROSS: For your information I'm not planning to sleep with Tom, Dick and Harry
Caitlin looks taken aback
CAITLIN: Well I hope not, leave them for Finn and Aaron
They laugh
CAITLIN: Come on slack arse, I'll buy you lunch
They move towards the shopping centre
ROSS: We're gonna fall out again if you keep calling me that
CAITLIN: Ok, sexy arse, is that better?
ROSS: Oh yeah, and you can show me how sexy it is later
CAITLIN: I'll have to think about it, I mean if you're gonna keep accusing me of assault
Ross takes Caitlin's hand as they walk
HOTEL – AFTERNOON
Ross and Caitlin arrive in their room; they both flop out on the bed
CAITLIN: It's so great just doing nothing
They lie in silence for several minutes
CAITLIN: It's a nice room
Ross looks mischievous
ROSS: Yeah, it's the one I was in before
Caitlin kicks him
CAITLIN: Oh shut up
Ross rolls on top of her
ROSS: So am I getting the rest of my apology now?
Ross kisses her cheek, working his way down to her neck
CAITLIN: Hey, I bought you lunch, is that not enough?
Ross moves up to her face
ROSS: Yeah, but we need to work our way up to tea now
Caitlin shakes her head, smiling
CAITLIN: Nah, I'm good thanks
Ross looks disappointed
ROSS: Oh
CAITLIN: Well what was the point in us coming away to sleep together? We can do that at home, we do do it at home, I mean if you only wanted to come away to have sex, you can just hire a prostitute for 3 nights
Ross looks annoyed
ROSS: I don't treat you like a prostitute
Caitlin pushes him off; she gets up off the bed, pulling him up by the hand
CAITLIN: No, so let's go out and have a wander, see things, people, have a meal, go bowling
Caitlin gives him a prolonged kiss
CAITLIN: There, that'll keep you going till later, and if you're a very good boy you might get dessert, come on
Caitlin picks up her handbag, takes Ross's hand and leads him out the door
ROSS: So… where are we going?
CAITLIN: Anywhere
A few hours later
BOWLING ALLEY – EVENING
Ross and Caitlin are in the middle of their game, being very flirty with each other
CAITLIN: I thought you said you were good at this
ROSS: I am, just haven't done it for a while
CAITLIN: Yeah, it's a good job you're not rusty at everything isn't it?
ROSS: Well I haven't heard you complaining
Ross kisses her
CAITLIN: Keep it clean, we're in public
ROSS: Yeah, where no-one knows us
Caitlin rolls her eyes
CAITLIN: Oh ok, is that you have another dig about me telling Laurel etc. about us?
ROSS: No, but it could be
Caitlin looks annoyed
CAITLIN: I thought we came away to have a nice time? We're not gonna have a very nice time if all you want to do is argue
ROSS: I don't, I'm sorry, just please tell her when we get back
Caitlin looks unhappy
CAITLIN: It's not gonna be an easy conversation
Ross shrugs
ROSS: But once it's out there at least it's out there
Caitlin gives a reluctant look of agreement, she looks at the screen
CAITLIN: Oh it's my go, I thought it was yours
Caitlin picks up a bowl and goes to take her shot, Ross sneaks up behind her, he tickles her just as she takes the shot, she screams, resulting in the bowl going into the ditch, Ross stands laughing his head off as Caitlin turns and smacks his arm
CAITLIN: What did you do that for?
Ross still laughing
ROSS: Cause it was fun and you should've seen the look on your face
CAITLIN: Yeah, can't stand being beaten by a girl more like it
Caitlin goes to take a sip of her drink, Ross follows
ROSS: Hey, I don't care if I lose
CAITLIN: But you just don't want me to win
ROSS: I just like gloating
Caitlin squints her eyes
CAITLIN: Uh huh, it's your go shot wrecker
Caitlin smiles at Ross as he goes to take his shot, she looks around and is horrified to spot a familiar face, she turns back, trying to hide
CAITLIN: (to herself) Oh my God
Ross comes back over looking smug
ROSS: Did you see that? I got a strike
Caitlin looks distracted
CAITLIN: Never mind that, we have to go, now
Ross looks completely confused
ROSS: What, why? We're not finished the game
Caitlin gestures her head
CAITLIN: Over there
Ross looks over, still confused
ROSS: What?
CAITLIN: It's Caroline
ROSS: Who?
CAITLIN: Caroline, Laurel's sister, we can't let her see us
Ross looks up
ROSS: Eh, think it might be a bit late, she's coming over
CAROLINE: WHOOOOOO HOOOOOO CAITLIN
Caitlin looks at Ross in a panic
CAITLIN: Oh my God
Caroline approaches
CAROLINE: I wasn't expecting to see anyone I knew here
Caitlin and Ross turn round looking extremely awkward
CAITLIN: Caroline, hey, what are you doing here?
CAROLINE: Oh, we're just having a game and some dinner
Caitlin looks confused
CAITLIN: No, no I mean what are you doing here in Leeds when you live in Lytham? I mean, they haven't run out of bowling alleys in Lytham, it's a long way to come for a game
Ross frowns at her as she rambles
CAROLINE: Oh no, Laurel left her phone charger at mine, she's such a ditz, never grown out of it you know, anyway, the postage is so expensive I decided to come and give it to her myself
Caitlin looks at Caroline weirdly
CAITLIN: Yeah, good old Laurel. So the postage is expensive so you decided to come in your car, which uses petrol, which costs money, yup, that makes sense
CAROLINE: Well it was a good excuse to come to the village and see Dad
Caitlin nods awkwardly
CAROLINE: So, how are you anyway? Haven't seen you for ages, you should've come down
CAITLIN: Oh fine, busy
CAROLINE: How's your little girl, Milana isn't it?
CAITLIN: Yup, she's fine
Caroline smiles awkwardly as she eyes up Ross
CAROLINE: And who's this?
Caitlin looks at Ross
CAITLIN: This, this is… Braydon, yeah, we're just on a date, Braydon this is Caroline, Laurel's sister
Ross looks at Caitlin, stunned and bemused as he talks through gritted teeth
ROSS: Nice to meet you Caroline
CAITLIN: I haven't told Laurel about it, you won't tell Laurel will you?
CAROLINE: No, of course I won't. Well you've got good taste anyway, he's very nice looking
Ross smiles smugly, putting his head down
CAITLIN: Yeah, and there was me thinking I needed glasses, cause I never saw you coming
Caitlin laughs nervously
CAROLINE: Do you want a lift back with us or anything?
CAITLIN: No, no, we're eh, we're going for a drink after so
Caroline smiles like an idiot
CAROLINE: Right, well then, it was lovely to see you
Caroline leans over and kisses Caitlin on the cheek
CAROLINE: Come and see us next time. Lovely to meet you Braydon
Ross smiles
ROSS: Hmmm, yeah, you too
Caroline walks away as Caitlin turns to Ross, closing her eyes and burying her head in his chest
CAITLIN: Oh my God, that's it, we've signed our own death warrants, she's gonna tell Laurel
Ross looks intrigued
ROSS: Braydon, really?
Caitlin lifts her head
CAITLIN: Well she's gonna tell her and we'll be dead anyway
Ross looks amused
ROSS: Well don't hyperventilate will you? Besides, she'll tell her she saw you with "Braydon", seriously, what was with calling me Braydon?
Caitlin looks up
CAITLIN: Well I could hardly say Ross could I? Once she opens her big fat mouth Aaron'll put two and two together anyway, so, would you like to be buried or cremated?
Ross laughs
ROSS: Neither, frozen, to await the advances of medical science
Caitlin pulls his t-shirt as she screws her face up
CAITLIN: Well that's it; she's completely ruined the enjoyment of this weekend
Caitlin goes to walk away, Ross pulls her back
ROSS: No she hasn't, we're no worse off than before we saw her, short of photographic evidence, what proof does she have that I'm not "Braydon"
Caitlin closes her eyes
CAITLIN: Yeah ok, I know, you're right, so, where were we before the rude interruption?
They clasp both their hands together
ROSS: Hmmm, I think I was about to beat you
Caitlin squints
CAITLIN: Seriously? You got one strike Ross, how does that mean you're gonna win? It's my turn anyway
Caitlin goes to pick up another bowl and goes to take her shot; she turns around, pointing at Ross
CAITLIN: AND DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT DOING IT AGAIN
A few hours later
HOTEL ROOM – EVENING
Caitlin and Ross enter the room; they both collapse on the bed
CAITLIN: That was a nice night in the end, despite Caroline
ROSS: Yeah, apart from the guy in the bar that tried hitting on you
Caitlin looks round at Ross smiling
CAITLIN: Yeah well at least you didn't hit him
Ross looks round
ROSS: Yeah only cause you stopped me
CAITLIN: Yeah well he was only giving me his number
ROSS: Oh well that's alright then
Caitlin laughs
CAITLIN: Well I wouldn't have used it
ROSS: Well I don't know that do I?
CAITLIN: I didn't even fancy him
ROSS: Reassuring
CAITLIN: Oh you're only sore cause I beat you at ten pin bowling
Ross stretches
ROSS: Nah you didn't beat me, I let you win
Caitlin bursts out laughing
CAITLIN: Yeah right, you were rubbish
ROSS: I was having an off day
CAITLIN: Oh ok, well we'll take Milana next time so she can give you a run for you money, beaten by an almost 5 year old, you'll never live it down
ROSS: Well I'd definitely have to let her win cause she's a kid
Caitlin sits up, turning to the side and stretching her legs out
CAITLIN: Ross, you didn't let me win, I beat you fair and square
ROSS: Deluded. Hey, so does that mean you've definitely decided to tell Laurel when we get back?
Caitlin looks annoyed
CAITLIN: Oh yes Ross, if it'll shut you up I'll find the courage from somewhere
ROSS: Courage, it's only Laurel
Caitlin frowns
CAITLIN: Yeah, and just cause you don't like her Ross doesn't make her any less of a human being. I don't want her to be hurt and and angry at me
Ross is dismissive
ROSS: She'll get over it. Now can we stop talking and do more interesting things please?
Ross moves closer to Caitlin, they sit in a see-saw like position, she smiles
CAITLIN: You gonna give me my reward for my big win?
ROSS: That's not funny
CAITLIN: Oh I think it is, your hurt little male pride
Caitlin strokes his face
CAITLIN: I'll tell you what, how about I cheer you up cause you lost?
Caitlin leans up, kissing Ross, pushing him back, she falls on him
Two days later
THE VILLAGE – AFTERNOON
Caitlin and Ross have just got off the bus and are walking away from the bus stop; Aaron is coming out of the café
AARON: Wow, you leave at the same time and arrive back at the same time, what a coincidence
Caitlin looks really annoyed
CAITLIN: What are you going on about now?
Aaron smiles sarcastically, shaking his head
CAITLIN: I can't help it if he's on the same bus as me, it's a public service, am I supposed to tell him not to get on it?
ROSS: And as if I would've listened, like I'm gonna be bossed around by anyone related to Laurel, no matter how fit they are
Ross looks down his nose at Caitlin, Aaron stares at them
AARON: You know have you two ever thought of going into acting? You're really grabbing me with your Oscar winning performances
Finn is looking on, curious, he approaches
ROSS: Oh whatever mate, I've spent all weekend clubbing with mates
AARON: Oh, you've got mates
ROSS: Well it's better than just having the one. Nah, you couldn't pay me to touch her with a barge poll mate, even if I was hard up, which is never, I couldn't be that desperate
Caitlin looks at him as if he is going over the top
CAITLIN: Oh look, he stole my lines. Anyway, if you two idiots don't mind I've got a daughter to go and check up on
AARON: Oh, you remembered her, that's nice
Caitlin smiles sarcastically
CAITLIN: Hmmm, get stuffed
Caitlin walks in the direction of Tall Trees
TALL TREES COTTAGE – AFTERNOON
Caitlin walks in with her case, Milana is sitting on the couch watching a film, she jumps up in excitement
MILANA: MUMMMMY, YOU'RE BACK
CAITLIN: Yaaaaay, hey sweetie
They hug
MILANA: I missed you
CAITLIN: Awe, I missed you too sweetie. What you watching?
Caitlin strokes Milana's hair and face
MILANA: Pocahontas
Caitlin sits on the couch, sitting Milana on her lap
CAITLIN: Oh I remember watching that, it's good
Milana plays with Caitlin's hair
MILANA: Did you bring me back a present?
CAITLIN: Maybe. Where's Laurel?
MILANA: Upstairs, she's changing beds and doing the washing
Caitlin opens her mouth wide
CAITLIN: Oh, and why are you not helping?
MILANA: I did help, I made my bed
Caitlin nods
CAITLIN: Oh ok
MILANA: Daddy's been in a really bad mood mummy, like worse than usual; I think you've done something to upset him
CAITLIN: Oh, that's unusual, not. It's ok honey, I've just seen him, he was ok. So, I have to go out tomorrow night, do you want to stay with daddy or Laurel?
Milana sways her head from side to side; she puts her finger under her chin in a thinking pose
MILANA: Well since daddy is never happy and Laurel is, I think I'll stay with her
Caitlin laughs
CAITLIN: Good choice
MILANA: Can I have my present now please?
CAITLIN: Depends, what have you done to deserve a present?
MILANA: Well I made my bed, said where Laurel is and told you about daddy's bad time of the month
Caitlin laughs again
CAITLIN: Ok, well I might give it to you after dinner, you sit here and watch the rest of the film and I'll just unpack my stuff
Caitlin puts Milana on the couch and gets up as Laurel comes downstairs with a washing basket
LAUREL: Hey, you're back, how was it?
CAITLIN: Great
LAUREL: Well I'm going for a drink in the pub later if you wanna join me and tell me all about it, think we deserve it, the housework never ends
Caitlin smiles awkwardly
CAITLIN: Cool. Hey Laurel, I'm really not up for this speed dating thing you know, do you mind if I just sack it off?
Laurel looks disappointed, she shrugs
LAUREL: Well I can't force you, but I really think you should go
DALE VIEW COTTAGE – EVENING
Ross opens the door, while he eats a slice of pizza Caitlin walks in
CAITLIN: Well I hope you're alone cause I'm gonna kill you
ROSS: It's a good job my family are fond of the pub the amount of times you come here
Caitlin slams the door
CAITLIN: Barge poll, hard up, desperate, really?
Ross laughs, wiping his mouth
ROSS: Ex boyfriend, gay, baby daddy, yes
Caitlin looks angrily at him
ROSS: Oh sorry, I thought we were playing a word game
CAITLIN: Yeah, well I've got two words for you and one of them ends in off
ROSS: So rude. Come on, it was play acting, I had to say it
CAITLIN: No you didn't, mind you; at least you said I'm fit so that's a plus
ROSS: See, I wasn't completely nasty. Did you just come here to bawl me out over that, cause you know if people see you coming here they'll be thinking you're giving me late night booty calls
CAITLIN: Isn't that what I'm usually doing? You're on a real roll with the compliments today
Ross sniggers
ROSS: Hey, you're the one that just agreed that you could be seen as a lady of the night. Do you want some pizza?
CAITLIN: I only came to see if you had my IPod, I can't find it, but I am quite hungry as it happens
They go into the kitchen
CAITLIN: If people do see me which I'm pretty sure they don't, then I could be coming here to talk to you about my car, you being the terrible mechanic that you are and me just needing to have a go at you about what a terrible job you've done
ROSS: Hey, no-one disses my abilities with cars
Ross pretends to be hurt, he picks up a slice of pizza and shoves it in her face, Caitlin is stunned
CAITLIN: Whoa ho, you did not just do that
Ross laughs
ROSS: I'm open to any punishment you wanna throw at me, but it'll have to be quick cause I'm meeting Finn for a drink
Caitlin wipes her face with kitchen roll
CAITLIN: Huh, did you not get enough of that over the weekend? I mean you even tried to persuade me to do it in the cinema
ROSS: Yeah well that's what back rows are for
CAITLIN: They're for kissing, not for what you suggested
Caitlin sighs, her eye catches a can of squirty cream, a cheeky smile spreads as she picks it up, she grabs Ross's hand and leads him out the door
CAITLIN: Come on then, Casanova, I'm going out as well as it happens
LATER
THE WOOLPACK – EVENING
Laurel is sitting at a table with Caroline when Ross enters, Caroline clocks him, he rushes over to the bar where Finn is standing, not noticing Laurel and Caroline at the table
CAROLINE: Oh well Caitlin can't be far away now, do you want another drink?
LAUREL: Yeah, why not?
Laurel smiles as Caroline goes to the bar to order more drinks, Rhona walks in and goes over to sit with Laurel
LAUREL: Oh thank god you're here; she's getting on my nerves
Rhona smiles
RHONA: Nothing new then
FINN: I didn't think you were coming
Ross is breathless
ROSS: Yeah well, I got held up
Caroline walks over to Ross as she waits for the drinks, she smiles at him
CAROLINE: Hello again, Braydon isn't it?
Finn chokes on his drink
ROSS: Eh, hi
CAROLINE: We're just waiting for Caitlin to come and join us actually, was she with you?
Finn looks completely confused
FINN: Ok, I haven't drunk that much, I thought I was still with it, why would she be with him?
Caroline looks at Finn
CAROLINE: Well I saw them the other night, they were on a date
Finn looks amazed as Laurel looks over, also completely confused
LAUREL: What the hell is she talking to him for?
RHONA: Maybe she wants her car serviced before she goes back to Lytham
LAUREL: Yeah, but how would she even know he's a mechanic?
Rhona shrugs
RHONA: Well he's kinda got that look about him hasn't he?
Laurel frowns at Rhona, she smiles awkwardly
RHONA: Maybe she saw him at the garage
LAUREL: Yeah but how could she, he's been away hasn't he? Well I saw him at the bus stop the other day when I went to talk to Caitlin
Rhona looks away knowingly
RHONA: I'm gonna get a drink
Laurel continues to stare at Caroline and Ross
CAROLINE: Well it was nice to see you again, why don't you come and join us?
ROSS: Eh, no, thanks, that's not a good idea, me and Laurel don't really get on, but thanks anyway
CAORLINE: Oh that doesn't surprise me, no-one really gets on with her, it was the same when she was a kid, she was never popular
Ross swigs his pint in frustration
CAROLINE: Anyway, see you later
Caroline goes back to get the drinks as Finn looks suspiciously at Ross
FINN: (whispers) You're seeing Laurel's cousin
ROSS: Oh you got that then?
FINN: Are you insane?
Ross drinks his pint again
Chas hands Rhona a bag of crisps
CHAS: Well I'm off in a minute for a long overdue sit down, Aaron's coming to take over
RHONA: I would hang on if I were you, I think something's gonna happen
Chas looks confused as Aaron comes through from the back; Caroline puts the drinks on the table
LAUREL: What the hell were you talking to him for?
Caroline frowns at Laurel
CAROLINE: Well why shouldn't I? I spoke to him the other night when I saw him
Laurel looks completely annoyed at Caroline
LAUREL: You do know who he is?
CAROLINE: Yeah, he's Braydon
Laurel looks at Caroline as if she's stupid
LAUREL: What?
Caroline sits down
CAROLINE: Braydon, his name's Braydon, are you deaf?
Laurel looks baffled
LAUREL: His name's Ross, the thug who carjacked and terrified me
Caroline stares at Laurel as if she's mad
CAROLINE: WELL HE WAS BRAYDON THE OTHER NIGHT WHEN I SAW HIM WITH CAITLIN AT TEN PIN BOWLING
Everyone looks round at them, Ross buries his face in his hands at the bar as Laurel suddenly starts putting two and two together, she slams her glass on the table and storms over to Ross
LAUREL: The other day when I saw you at the bus stop, you were going away with Caitlin weren't you?
Ross doesn't answer
LAUREL: No, actually, forget it, I wouldn't expect you to give me a straight answer, you couldn't lie straight in bed, I'll tell you what, I'll go and ask Caitlin about that shall I?
Laurel storms back to the table, she grabs her bag and jacket just as Caitlin walks in, surprised by the silence she frowns, looking around as everyone stares at her
CAITLIN: What?
No-one answers
CAITLIN: Oh ok, don't tell me, everyone's seen my sex video on you tube? Oops
Caitlin laughs, she see's that no-one else finds it funny
CAITLIN: Joke, oh my God, has someone died or have I got two heads or something?
Laurel is livid; she walks over to her slowly
LAUREL: No, but you've got two faces though haven't you?
Caitlin looks surprised, frowning
CAITLIN: What you talking about?
Laurel points over at Ross
LAUREL: Look who's popped in for a drink, your friend Braydon from the bowling alley
Caitlin is stunned and panicked as Laurel stares at her as if she wants to kill her
LAUREL: Yeah, you've got a lot of explaining to do young lady
