Chapter 8: Your Sweet Caress
Lashes batted against cheekbones as Rin slowly allowed for her eyes to get adjusted to the dim lighting. Staring at the familiar ceiling and feeling the soft sheets, which she grew to like quickly, under her. She let out a soft sigh. Still here. She knew that if she got up she would go looking for the devil himself and end up right back in this bed one way or another. The turned to her side toward the balcony. Expecting to see the full sphere of the moon, she saw a silhouette on the face of it. How long had he been standing there? Rin chose to let this be the opportunity to let her eyes have their fill of him...without looking like a pervert.
His lean muscles and strong back faced her under a burgundy button-up paired with black slacks. Simply yet so extravagant. It was like he oozed eminence in everything. The wind danced with his white locks, making the moonlight glisten on it. I should ask where he gets his hair dyed. Does the whole family have the same hair stylist? She recalled the uniqueness of his parents. Maybe it's a new kind of albinism. Wait...
"Rin.." He repeated.
"Don't you 'Rin' me...how can you do that?!...oh no don't you touch me!" She held her arms out in protest when he reached for her. Sesshomaru then grabbed her wrist and pulled her toward him.
"Still." She was growing irritated with this monosyllables speech of his but at least it wasn't her name. She didn't know why but her body looked as though it was following his order. She couldn't move.
Why hadn't she been able to move and why did he act like that? The man she looked at now, thought exceptionally handsome with a unique taste in hair color, looked as normal as anyone else. However, in that moment, it was as if he wasn't even from this world. If she didn't know any better she'd think that he had some secret ship waiting to take her to his planet.
"Staring is not very becoming." A shiver ran down her spine. She made little to no noise when she turned to her side and he made no sign that he was aware that she was awake.
"How did-"
"You're not cold I presume. If so, ask the help for extra sheets" He interrupted as he finally turned to face her. Eyes so bright, they could have easily put the moon to shame. They definitely had the power to still her body in awe. He said nothing after. Only observing her like some experiment, waiting for the next big change.
"I thought staring wasn't very becoming." The corner of his lip twitched slightly but his eyes were filled with amusement, amusement that he was bent on hiding.
"Hn."
"Don't talk much?"
"Never needed to."
"You should."
"Noted."
"Okay."
"..." What know? She had no idea where she was going with that but the silence was growing heavier by the minute.
"I take it that utterance is a necessity for your kind at times like this." My kind?
"Okay...you've made that comment multiple times since my meeting you. Calling me human. Suggesting we are too different. Almost like you're saying we aren't even the same race."
"We are not." At that she sat up. She gave him a look that he couldn't distinguish at all.
"What are you?" His lips parted in shock. He half expected her to rant on his comment or even give him a lesson on human biology yet she asked in such seriousness that it baffled him. "The other night when you got out the shower-"
"I was not myself and you were too exhausted and hurt to comprehend my actions." He stalked to the loveseat at the other side of the room.
"Whether I comprehend or not, if I wanted to make a report to the police about two guys trying to ram me up, what would I show them for evidence? My spotless skin?" His eye twitched at the memory of the alley, he could feel his blood begin to boil. "A simple flick of your tongue and I have the skin of a newborn baby. Now that...I can't comprehend. So tell me, are you some sort of healing vampire?"
Sesshomaru resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Of all of the things, she thought he was a blood-sucking demon.
"No."
"How do I know, I mean it's not like you're going to out right say it. You could be lying." She sent him a glare, coaxing him to tell her what she wants.
"I don't lie. I decide what truths I am obliged to tell. But I never give false statements."
"Am I pretty?"
"No." Rin had to admit, the answer brought a small pang to her heart. "Okay well I guess thats a matter of opinion. Are you older than 35?"
"Yes." What does this man eat?! Fruits grown from the fountain of youth? He didn't look a day over 25. "Is there a point to this interrogation?"
"I just want to know why you have tattoos one day and lose them the next?"
"Tattoos?" His eyes flickered to his bare forearms.
"Yes ya know, markings on the skin. Permanent. Can only be covered by makeup. Ring a bell?"
"I am no idiot, woman. But you must be one if you say I have tattoos."
"I SAW THEM! On your face...you..you had fangs! and your eyes were red! You looked like some...some.."
"Some what?"
"Something from my dreams..." He did not hide his surprise this time. Sesshomaru sat wide-eyed at the woman across the room.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
"Rin?" A voice as soft as a bell broke the silence of the room.
"Yes ma'am?" Rin turned to find his mother at the door. She wore a soft looking white night outfit that accentuated her figure. There was no way this woman is pushing anything older than 30. It still astonished her that a woman that looked almost the same age as her gave birth to this man and still look as she does afterwards. Her current look reminded her of a white witch.
"I've had some maidens arrange one of the guest rooms for you. There is a warm bath and a change of clothes in the bathroom, I believe I guessed your size correctly." She smiled. But Rin knew that smile. Kagome gave her that kind of smile when she asked a favor, yet it was more of a nicely said order.
"She will stay here." Sesshomaru chimed before Rin could answer.
"I'm sure you'd want your room back to yourself, dear. Besides this is hardly enough space for two people." Hardly enough space? You can fit my whole apartment in this room.
"I've slept enough, I will be in the study. She remains here."
"If that is what you wish." She turned to Rin. "I'll have them draw the bath in his bathroom and bring the clothes." She winked and closed the door softly.
"Why can't I stay in another room?" She asked after the footsteps in the hallway ceased. For once, Sesshomaru couldn't think of an answer. It felt like he was supposed to have her remain in his quarters. He paused for another moment.
"It's not necessary."
"Am I not a guest?"
"No you're in my custody as a victim and will remain in my care." His eyes narrowed to slits at her growing defiance.
"Custody? Really... Fine. Victims should be given enough space, and I believe I have womanly needs to take care of." He got up and left the room, not before shooting her a back-chilling glare.
Victim indeed, a victim of his wrath if it were up to him. How could he let a woman...a human woman get under his skin like that. His eyes were like daggers to every worker he passed in the grand hallway, each person shriveling inside as they passed him. One woman holding an orange satin material caught his eye.
"Who are those for?"
"Miss Rin, My lord." She bowed, struggling to hide her trembling. He grabbed the clothing from the poor girls and walked back the way he came, leaving her in a stupor.
As he walked back to his room he looked down at the materials in his fingers. Orange. It suited her, as vibrant and unstable as her. He would have to commend his mother later. Sesshomaru opened the door just as clothing succumbed to gravity's allure and fell the the ground.
"Thank you so much for bringing the clothes. Where can I find another tow-" Sesshomaru had been treated to a view of her well rounded backside yet when she turned around his eyes took in the generous swells of her breast, indent of her waist, and flare of her hips. "Wha...Wi..How..um." Her hands instinctively trying to cover herself while she avoided looking at him. He gave no response as he walked toward her and laid the clothes on the bed, then turned to a chest near the bookshelf and pulled out a towel. Her heart was on a marathon as he wrapped her in the towel. Her breath caught when his thumb brushed against her skin. "I..I could have done it myself."
"Hn." Was all he muttered before leaving the room.
"Ugh, I hate this. Care to explain why you didn't. get. gas." Kagome spat as she plunked leaves from her hair. The sun had feel beyond the horizon at least an hour ago and they were forced to abandon the car much sooner. Kagome detested hitchhiking. Meanwhile it looked to her as if the silver-haired man in fron of her was relishing in her anguish.
"Look I didn't expect it to be this far...or take this long." He rolled his eyes at a sudden shriek from the damsel in distress behind him. "It was a raccoon wasn't it?" Her fear was lost momentarily as a stripped tail disappeared into nearby bushes.
"Normal people would have guessed a snake first."
"Yes but I know you and if it were a snake you would have screamed much louder and you would be in my arms quivering in fear." He turned and gave her a smirk. Her shocked expression quickly dissolved into one of anger.
"I would not." She crossed her arms in a pout.
"Would to." He jabbed.
"Would NOT!"
"Okay. I believe you, just watch your step before you step on that snake by your foot." He mentally counted. one...two...
"AHHH!" Almost like clockwork, Kagome was in his arms with her head buried in his neck, like a quivering babe.
"You wouldn't huh?" His smirk grew wider with every minute that passed. Her gaze wasn't on his smirk though, Kagome was too busy staring at what looked like a cut out from Architecture Digest.
"Wha...Wha..Where are we?"
"Hotel Transylvania...just kidding. This is my parents place."
"You mean to tell me you drove your car to dehydration... had me stalk 10 miles... and fend against the nightly critters TO VISIT YOUR PARENTS!" She couldn't believe that he had put her through all of that for something that wasn't even work related.
"Geez even outside your voice makes ears ring." He sighed.
"Why the hell am I visiting your parents with you?" Kagome tried to resist the urge to slap him, for some reason the image of his face flat in the dirt appeared in her mind and it gave her momentary comfort.
"Because you're a great planner." Now she was confused. Her job didn't involve her planning many events other than dinners and ceremonial awards.
"What am I planning."
"A wedding?" Since when did she become a wedding planner? Kagome had dreamt of her own wedding many times before but never did she think she was going to plan someone else's. The most she expected to do as far as others would be to help her sister indulge in the matrimonial glory of picking out dresses. Since there were headed to his parent's home she could only assume logically.
"Awe. Your parents are renewing their vows. That's so romantic."
"No it's not their wedding." Why would they need to go to see his parents if it had nothing to do with him?
"Oh then whose is it?" She asked, walking faster trying to ignore the continuous shuffling in the bushes behind them.
"Mine."
"That was a close on there, aye highness." Sesshomaru stumbled to the seat on the back patio.
"Give back my control." He spat.
"Not so fast, I saved you from making a big mistake there. Now if I gave you control of your body who knows what you'll do." He grunted as he sat down staring at his hands. A tingling sensation danced along his palm and up to his finger tips. "You can still feel it can't you?"
"What is this?"
"You felt it when you brushed against her didn't you, kid?"
"Enough." He snapped as the sensation stopped.
"I guess you can handle yourself...always ruining my fun." Sesshomaru stared at the crescent moon above him. He smirk to himself in amusement, considering the same shape adorns his forehead. Tattoo huh? His thoughts began to drift to the woman of his current undoing.
"Am I pretty?"
"No." He hadn't lied. She surpassed to bound of a simple word such as that. Though he would rather lose an arm than say so, he found Rin to be extremely beautiful. Eyes the color of hazelnuts, framed by dark chocolate locks. The hills and valleys of her body were intoxicating. And yet she was human.
"Something from my dreams..." She had dreamt of him? In his true form? He resisted the urge to let out a sigh. This woman caused more frustration than she was worth.
"Ahem." He stilled at a soft voice. Turning around to find the vixen in the orange night shift. It accentuated her womanly figure almost as if taunting him. This woman's strange beauty would drive him mad. Her body remained unwavering though she felt faint she watched his eyes rove over her. "I'm finished." Rin whispered. "You can go get ready for bed now."
"That won't be necessary." She took that as him brushing her off with a 'just go to sleep".
"I'm not tired." She replied to the unspoken statement as she walked around and sat on one of the other chair on the patio and looked at the night sky. After minutes he spoke.
"Your dream."
"Huh?" she turned to him.
"You dreamt of me." He was answered with reddened cheeks. Perhaps he didn't need to know the details. Yet she nodded, staring into his eyes.
"Since I was a little girl, only I could never see you face I could only see behind you. It was like you were heading somewhere and I was just tagging along behind you. I could only see your long hair and you had ancient clothes on with strong armor and swords." He would do nothing but look at the moon as Rin explained. "Sometimes I'd wake to my boyfriend...I mean ex-boyfriend telling me that I was talking in my sleep. I guess calling for someone...calling for you." His eyes widened slightly but he said nothing.
"Hn.."
"Are you feeling okay, you're sweating." She got up from the chair to stand in front of him. Before he could decipher her actions, she land her hand on his forehead. "You don't have a fever." She stated as her hand slid to rest on his cheek. Her touch left his face tingling.
'It is not my wellbeing that should concern you." He muttered. Before she could respond Rin found herself straddling him in his lap, hazelnut entranced by molten gold.
"SESSHOMARU!" Hanyou...
By far one of the shorter chapters I've ever written, for that I apologize but I didn't want to leave anyone with another story that never finished. It may take a while but the next chapter will definitely be longer. Review if you like, I love reading them.
