So, what would happen if Kagome, Inuyasha, Kikyou and Okitoki reversed roles? Well, it would be more strange... Starting all about 50 years ago...
^_^ I like to thank Rumiko Takahashi-san for creating such a wonderful series. And for making the amazing people Inuyasha and his friends are now in the F.A. I only own my own ideas for this story.
Chapter Eight: Separated!
When Kagome regained consciousness, she saw the sun was setting and that Shippou and Myoga had found her. She sat up quickly, the wound opening a little and making her grab it as she sent Myoga flying.
"What do you think you're doing, Kagome?! We just finished bandaging up your wounds! What if you open them up again?" Shippou scolded.
"These ain't nothin. Where the hell did he go...?" She shook to fight the pain down.
"Who're you talking about?"
"Said his name was Minomaru or somethin' like that. Disgusting's what he really is."
"Minomaru? Are you quiet sure about that name, Mistress Kagome?" Myoga asked.
Kagome took the time to look around and her eyes widened, not seeing Inuyasha anywhere as she looked to see the weird contraption he called a 'byecikle' just laying there as Shippou pointed out that Sango and Miroku hadn't returned.
"And no sign of Inuyasha yet, either..."
"That fucker... He must've taken Inuyasha with him!"
"What's that? Inuyasha didn't go back to his world beyond the well?"
Kagome growled lowly. "There's no way he'd go home. Not without running it past me first..." Shippou started whining about how she promised to protect him and didn't seem to be able to do that properly, which made her whack him over the head and fix her kimono.
"And after all I did for you..."
"Why bother? These wounds aren't that bad." She stood up as Myoga hopped back onto the lump she had given him.
"Mistress Kagome, are you quite certain this demon called himself Minomaru?"
"Yup. Why? Ya know something, flea?" She said as Myoga went into a explanation how Minomaru was the only son of Hyoga, who did battle with her mother two hundred years ago. She also learned it was her mother using one of the fangs to seal Hyoga away. Myoga started to walk away, but she grabbed him and brought him to eye level. "Lemme guess. You weren't there either..." When the flea paled, she growled. "You were a coward even back then."
"I only do it because your mother and you are so reckless."
Kagome tied him to her beads and took off after getting her bow back, noticing he left his blade behind, too. She grabbed that as well, making a note to yell at the idiot later. "You wouldn't happen to know where he's sealed away, would you?" When she got the information, her mind went into 'save Inuyasha' mode, her anger growing the closer she got. That bastard will regret it if there was any harm done to Inuyasha, even if he could handle himself.
She fought her way down and brought out her bow, making it flare to life right as she noticed Minomaru going after Inuyasha. "Inuyasha! Outta the way!" She said, bringing the bow around and firing an arrow right at him, making Inuyasha dash out of the way and get to her side.
"I thought you'd never come, Kagome."
"Really? Well, I'm taking Inuyasha back and you're gonna pay." She pointed out and gave him the sword. "Leave that again and you're fucked." Her attention was mainly on Minomaru, however as she began fighting him before she put the bow away, switching to a sword Totosai made her for these situations, using a part of her bow and her fang to balance it out and make it like Inuyasha's sword, but lighter.
The sword had a jagged blade with a pattern made of lightning bolts engraved on it. The guard was formed like a crescent moon, its tips pointing in the same direction as the blade. Totosai gave it the name Zetsubōno, the name meaning despair. It had the same power as the Tetsusaiga, but was able to be used in new moons.
"Aaah. You have brought another fang. Good!" Minomaru said as he rushed her, getting blocked before she swung and hit him hard into a wall.
"That was too easy..." She scoffed before there was a purple tint and Minomaru stood back up. "The hell?! What's going on?"
"I am immortal."
"Mistress Kagome, Minomaru absorbs power from Hyoga, who lies dormant behind him."
Kagome raised an eyebrow. "Hyoga? That giant thing?" She listened to the pun Minomaru made and got ready to attack. "Tell me how to kill him and I'll let ya leave."
"Be reasonable!" Myoga pleaded.
"It's useless. I am invincible." Minomaru said, taunting Kagome into attacking.
"I don't care what demonic energy you have, it ain't gonna stop me from turning you into dust!" She said as she charged up Devil's Sting.
"How bold of you... Let's see you try it.."
"Something's not right." Sango commented.
"Please try and be careful this time, Kagome." Miroku said.
She grinned a little. "Alright, time to pay." The bow and arrow began to glow as she took aim.
"Please, you've got to stop, Mistress Kagome!" Myoga pleaded.
Minomaru lept up and let her see the perfect shot for the Devil's Sting, which she smirked at. "Devil's Sting!" She fired it and sent him into the pillar behind him, breaking it. "Gotcha, bastard."
Minomaru's laugh echoed. "Finally the seal has been broken!"
"Oh no." Myoga cried.
Kagome soon found herself getting blown away from the others, landing hard and barely managing to walk using Zetsubōno before collapsing. "This... Is nothing..."
"Mistress Kagome, we're in great danger here. Let us retreat to the West and recoup our strength."
"You mean run away?" She listened as Myoga explained how long the Hyoga clan had been plotting revenge on her mother. As she did, she slowly sat up before glaring at the tree that had begun growing, growling and holding an arm. She then grabbed Myoga and tossed him over her shoulder.
"What did you do that for?"
She shakily got to her feet, using her sword to assist. "You're getting annoying. Run then. Can't you feel the danger?! Fuck off, I'm doing this alone." She began walking and squished her retainer, despite him trying to stop her. Her body slowly got to the point where she put her sword away and could run, making her way towards Souta's village, knowing the old man would probably have something to help. She reached a bridge and saw a familiar person. "Hey, Inuyasha." She said, walking over to him. "You kinda look pale. Go back and rest up, okay?" She was stunned when he walked into her arms, which made her blink and close her eyes. "Sorry I didn't get to ya sooner..."
"K-Kagome... get... away..."
"Huh?" She began right before something went through her gut, the force making her see that Inuyasha had impaled her. "Inu...Yasha..." She grabbed immediately after he removed the claws before having to dodge the incoming attacks. "That bastard. He's controlling Inuyasha." She then lept to avoid his shots that came, grabbing the hand. "Snap outta it, ya idiot!" As if heeding her words, the bridge began to snap apart and send her into the river below.
"Die Kagome." Inuyasha's voice echoed with someone else's in it as he shot the things again, making her use her kimono to guard on her way down.
She landed and had to take a few moments before taking off, a flying Inuyasha hot on her heels. "Oh, he's so dead for doing this to Inuyasha! I'm gonna make him pay." Kagome began running towards the Sacred Tree, weaving in and out of trees to try and evade her chaser. She managed to get into the clearing before dodging a few more shots, her knee deciding to act up and making her go down. "Gah." She turned in time to try and block the spiritual blast Inuyasha sent her way, getting flung back into the tree before looking up to see more heading her way, hitting her knee as she then dropped, holding her gut. Blood was trickling out of the corner of her mouth as she saw him form a bow instead of a knife, figuring it was gonna hurt.
What she wasn't expecting was him dropping it and apparently regaining at least his voice. "Ka-gome... Get... away... Please.." As he spoke, he dropped to his knees, fighting the hold as he was forced to try and get the arrow. "I can't... control my body... I can't stop... You gotta... run... before I..."
"Will you shut up? I am so fuckin sick of you and everyone telling me to run. I ain't running." She got up a little before meeting his soulless-looking eyes. "Not without you... I'm not leaving you behind again.." She vowed, showing him how much he meant to her in her eyes before seeing more moths appearing. "Fuck these bugs... They're back." Her eyes never left Inuyasha's, seeing them glow red as he took aim at her, tears showing right as he released the arrow. 'Inuyasha...' She thought as the arrow embedded itself in the same spot Okitoki's knife had so long ago. Her body soon dropped and she was knocked out.
Her mind seemingly watched as Okitoki sent Inuyasha back by force, unable to stop him from doing it. Yet, she didn't see why. She wanted to keep him by her side forever, she made a promise to him that she'd protect him and she couldn't do that with him in his time. She heard Myoga, but was unable to answer back as she kept thinking of all she had been through with Inuyasha. When Myoga drank some of her blood, she stirred as the tree felt warmer. "Inu..yasha.." She opened her eyes. "Inuyasha... is that you?"
"Kagome? How are you? Are you okay?"
"Don't worry... Kinda surprised you're not here, though."
"I... Came back.."
She chuckled softly. "Got scared, didja?"
"NO! I just... I..."
Frowning, she turned concerned. "You just what?"
When she heard his voice, it seemed softer. "Never mind. You're right. Maybe I ran away."
"Stupid. You haven't changed..." She grinned and chuckled lightly.
"I'm not STU- Kagome.."
Suddenly, they were face to face and she smiled gently. "You are here, Inuyasha... So, what've ya been worrying that head about?"
"I just feel so weak and helpless. I even wound up hurting you, Kagome, and I thought you'd be better off if I weren't around." He said, tightening his fists.
"Would you stop talkin like that?" She got to her feet and made it a step before she felt herself falling, getting caught by Inuyasha.
"Don't move... You'll open your wound..."
Instinctively, Kagome pulled him to her in a hug, tightening the hold a little as she spoke. "I need you with me, Inuyasha... Are you that dense? Realize it already..."
"Thank you.."
She found herself still sitting against the tree. "Come back to me, Inuyasha..." What seemed like a few moments, she heard him again. "What's wrong now?"
"The well's covered by roots, I can't get back!"
"Just use the powers of the priest inside ya or somethin, that's what the old man Souta said." She then recovered a little bit and made her way to the well, bringing her own bow out and getting close enough to hit it.
"I don't think ye is up to this, Kagome."
"Your wounds haven't healed yet!"
"Will ya both shut up? My body is built stronger than both of yours, so stand back unless ya wanna get hit." She said, taking aim. Right as she was about to fire, the entire well exploded, burying her under some rubble. "Inuyasha..." She growled from the rubble, tossing it off and glaring.
"Kagome!"
"Did you have to make such a fuckin big entrance?!" She shouted at him.
"Excuse me?! You told me to!"
"I didn't say blow us up in the process!"
"It's not like I planned it this way!"
"Well, ya shoulda known."
"What do ya mean I should've known?!"
"You still shouldn't go blowing us up!"
"You're being unreasonable!"
"No I'm not!"
"Yes you are!"
"Mistress Kagome!" Myoga interrupted their fight and hopped onto Inuyasha's shoulder. "Hyoga's absorbing the souls of every living creature! This is not the time for petty arguments!"
"Don't need to tell me that much!" She said. "Let's go, Inuyasha."
"Right."
Phew... This was fun... But it's not over, yet~ I've gotta get through the entire fight with Minomaru "Hyoga".
