Warning: There is quite a bit of cursing and fighting in this chapter. Sasuke and Iruka kick butt and take names. Enjoy and please remember to review, thank you.
"Kakashi I'm not going to say it again! I'm getting tired of this, you know how I feel about this kind of crap, but you keep pulling it. Are you doing this just to get under my skin, are you really that against us going a day without an argument?"
"Well what are you going to do about it? Huh?" Kakashi smirked at the way Iruka opened and closed his mouth in frustration. Finally Iruka settled on glaring and looked away pouting slightly. "Absolutely nothing." Kakashi laughed as he continued to hold Iruka down on the floor.
That morning Naruto and Sasuke were at each other's throats worse than usual which left Iruka a stressed mess. Kakashi had come home to grab something he forgot when he found Iruka still at home just staring off in the living room. The television was off and the door wasn't even locked. So Kakashi took the only action he could. He tackled Iruka to the ground and tickled him until Iruka started begging for him to stop.
"What are you doing home anyways?" It really was cute how Iruka tried to hide his red face. Kakashi reached behind the brunette's head and pulled the hair holder from his hair. Iruka just shivered under him. "I thought you weren't going to be home until sometime around dinner?"
Sometimes Kakashi liked to take moments like these and just take in Iruka's features, he really was handsome. The light scar across his nose just made him cuter in Kakashi's eyes. He absolutely loved the long silky hair that would flow down Iruka's back when he let it down. He was brought from his admiring when Iruka's nudged him.
"I forgot something. A better question is what are you doing here?" Iruka shrugged his shoulders and continued to keep his eyes from Kakashi's face. "Iruka."
Hesitantly Iruka turned to look up and didn't struggle when Kakashi leaned down and placed his lips against his. This has been going on for about a couple years, or something like that. There were more times that Iruka would give in and let Kakashi kiss him or hold him. After a few seconds Kakashi hadn't pulled away so Iruka slipped his arms around the paler neck.
Before the kiss could get much further Kakashi pulled away with a grin. "Will you tell me what's wrong now?" Iruka rolled his eyes but felt a small smile form anyways.
"Nothing's really wrong, I'm just kind of tired. I'm also worried about Naruto and Sasuke, The haven't argued like this in a while, I think this fight is worse than the ones when they were younger." Iruka worried his lip and seemed to be thinking back.
"You always worry about them, and they always fight. I'm sure this time will be just like the other times. They'll argue and then get over it when they come home." Iruka nodded but didn't even seem to have actually paid attention. "What were they arguing about this time?"
"That's the problem, they are both angry and won't talk to anyone. Naruto definitely doesn't act like that. Ever since he was little he's always had a big mouth. If something was wrong he would tell me. Sasuke usually comes to at least one of us and tells us what's wrong but he completely disregards anything I say to him. What could be going on?" Iruka bit on his thumb nail.
Sometimes Kakashi wondered if Iruka had anxiety, but he did understand why he would be upset about the kids not talking to them. "How about tonight we sit them down and threaten not to feed them until one of them says what's going on. That should at the very least get Naruto to loosen his tongue." Kakashi smiled down at Iruka who smiled as well.
"That's a dirty trick, one that will work, but it's dirty." Kakashi shrugged and Iruka let out a small laugh. He seemed to remember something and looked to Kakashi with a serious expression. "I had to call off today because I had an appointment with Sasuke's therapist but today he called and said that he couldn't make it and that he would like to see all three of us and maybe even Naruto." Kakashi nodded at the information. A couple of months ago they had managed to get Sasuke to agree to a counselor. After a while Sasuke had admitted that he did feel a bit better. Iruka continued on.
"Apparently Sasuke has stopped talking to him as well, and the last thing Sasuke had said to him was that he was tired of dealing with Naruto's crap. 'It's not good when someone stops responding because it means they have given up' is what he said. He wants to get down to why Sasuke is acting the way he is." Kakashi narrowed his eyes at Iruka who swallowed.
"Is that why you look like death walked through here; because he said that about not responding?" The guilty look on Iruka's face was enough to confirm it. "They haven't given up an anything. Sasuke acts like this when one of his drawings don't turn out the way he wants them to. Naruto doesn't usually act like that, but I would guess that Sasuke is just rubbing off on him." Iruka nodded thoughtfully and Kakashi jabbed him in the side.
"Hey! What was that for?" Kakashi just smirked and continued his tickling. "Stop! Kakashi! I-I can't breathe!" Iruka turned on his belly and tried to crawl away but Kakashi kept on him. "Seriously, off!" Iruka turned and shoved Kakashi as hard as he could. Kakashi started to fall backwards and grabbed Iruka which pulled him along for the fall.
Kakashi landed on his back with Iruka sprawled out across his chest. He wrapped his arms around the brunette's waist and blew away the strands of hair that landed across his face. Iruka pushed himself up and gave a halfhearted glare at the lazy smile on Kakashi's face. "Well hello there."
A small blush spread across Iruka's cheeks at Kakashi's flirt, even after all this time he still sucked at the dating thing, and he still wasn't use to PDA. He understood that this was his house and he could do whatever he wanted, but he was still nervous about it even if they were alone. Despite that he felt himself lowering towards Kakashi. Their lips almost touching until a sudden noise caused Iruka to jump. The phone was ringing.
Quickly Iruka crawled over to the phone sitting on the coffee table and answered it. "Yes hello Iruka speaking." Kakashi rolled onto his side to observe the phone call. Iruka confirmed a few things but something caught his attention. "Yes, on Sasuke's school forms I have been added as a trusted guardian. Of course, yes ma'am. When? Alright, I will see you soon." At that point Iruka politely said good bye and hung up.
"So, what was that about? Is Sasuke alright?" Iruka seemed a bit stressed as he turned back to Kakashi.
He took in a big breath and let out in a sharp sigh. "Sasuke was in a fight; surprisingly not with Naruto. I have to get down to the school and deal with it." Kakashi got up slowly as Iruka started running around trying to get ready to go. "They will probably want to suspend him, depending on the situation I may be able to stop that from happening. I hope it didn't get too bad, I hope he isn't hurt."
"Should I come along?" Kakashi asked following Iruka around.
"They asked if you were at work and I said yes. So you're clear for this round of drama." Iruka grabbed a jacket and his keys. He heard Kakashi behind him grabbing some keys as well.
"If he won you should take him out for a treat." Kakashi laughed but Iruka shot him a glare. "Hey that's how I was raised. If I didn't win my fights I got into even worse trouble when I got home." Iruka shook his head but started to wave goodbye. "Wait a minute." Iruka buckled his seat belt and turned to Kakashi who had opened his car door. Kakashi leaned in and kissed him feverishly. Iruka had gasped at the sudden action which encouraged Kakashi to use tongue. He pulled away with a laugh at the red across Iruka's face. "That should do me for the day."
Making his way through the school proved a bit more difficult than expected. As soon as Iruka showed up the bell rang which had kids crowding the halls to get where they needed to go. Iruka tried to stay calm but he had forgotten how frustrating walking down a crowded hallway was. He hadn't even realized that there were so many kids in this county. When he finally made it to the office, almost out of breath, the secretary looked at him with disapproval.
The small petite woman spoke before Iruka could even compose himself to introduce himself. "Sasuke's parent I presume?" Something about the woman screamed 'don't disagree with me' so Iruka just nodded. This wasn't the first time he had been mistaken as Sasuke's father before. Kakashi and him had taken turns dealing with the kids and their schooling. Parent teacher meeting, tryouts, one time they were even forced into a school play. They may as well have joint custody of the kids.
With a small confirming nod she motioned for Iruka to follow her behind the desk and into the back. Iruka followed quietly and entered the room that she pointed at quickly. The first thing he saw was the principle sitting at her desk. She gave a small smile and turned to him in her rolling chair. "Mr. Uchiha, I'm so glad you could join us."
"I am not actually related to Sasuke. You can call me Iruka thank you." Iruka smiled as he looked over to Sasuke. He nearly went into a panic when he saw the forming bruise on Sasuke's cheek and the cut on his lip. He sat beside him and instantly grabbed his chin and examined the damage. The principle cleared her throat and smiled to hide her disapproval at Iruka's attention being focused on Sasuke. She was round in the face and body, so she had the slightest bit of trouble standing from her chair, but she did it with elegance.
"Since we have separated Mr. Sasuke and Mr. Kabuto, Neither have said exactly why they were in a fight. Kabuto's case is understandable, he was knocked out and his face is swollen." She gave a stern look to Sasuke who smirked lightly. "Sasuke can you tell us what happened now that your, uh" She gestured to Iruka unsure.
"My dad." Iruka and the principle's eyes widened and they examined Sasuke who kept his scowl on the principle. "He's my dad, and Kakashi is my father." Iruka just nodded and turned back to the angered plump lady before him.
She almost seemed scandalized as she looked back and forth between Iruka and Sasuke. She realized her mistake of openly showing her opinion when Iruka crossed his arms and rose an eyebrow. Clearing her throat she tried again. "Sasuke, can you tell us why the fight happened? If we don't know then we can't make sure it doesn't happen again."
Sasuke let out a sarcastic laugh and rolled his eyes. Iruka grabbed his ear and tugged a bit to get his attention. Sasuke glared but let out a sigh in defeat. Iruka nodded to get him going. "That ingrate said that I should be ashamed of my wanna be family. Not only am I a lonely orphan, but my guardians are faggots. So I told him he needed to shut his inbred mouth before I knocked him on his ass. He said that he wouldn't be surprised if I turned out to be a disgusting homo and contracted a disease. So I punched him. A couple of his idiotic friends grabbed me and he got a few hits in, but when I got loose his supposed 'friends' took off as I beat the ever loving shit out of him for talking bad about my family and me." Sasuke finished with a smile on his face. Iruka was horrified that any of that was said but felt proud in some strange way that Sasuke would become so defensive of them.
Unfortunately the principle was horrified as well, but not for the reason you think. "That is an outrage; we cannot allow that at our school." Iruka nodded but Sasuke watched with suspicion. "What he said was out of line and not any of his business. You should not have laid a hand on another student though. He could have been seriously hurt, you are lucky his parents don't plan on taking this to court. Sasuke you are the last person I would have expected this kind of conduct from, Kiba or Naruto maybe but not you." She glared at Sasuke who sunk back into his seat. She actually glared at Sasuke. She was interrupted from her reprimanding by Iruka.
"Excuse you?" The plump principle turned to Iruka. "Are you telling Sasuke that he was more in the wrong at this point than the other child that had been bullying him? Or are you scolding him because he needs to be set straight since violence is never the answer." The woman bulged her eyes and turned red, she pointed her finger up and opened her mouth to explain but Iruka interrupted again. "As for your expectancies, I'll have you know Kiba and Naruto are very fine young men, just as Sasuke is. I should know, Naruto is my son" At this tidbit of information her eyes widened in shock. "And Kiba is around enough for me to know that he is a good boy. Maybe a bit mischievous, but hardly a bad kid." Sasuke watched Iruka, who was now standing, and the principle closely.
"Iruka, I"
"Mr. Umino" Iruka corrected hashly.
"Mr. Umino" She huffed, "I will reprimand each student at fault here. As I said Kabuto was out of line in what he said. We have a no bullying policy, but what Sasuke did was physically attack another student over a matter that could have been dealt with in a civilized manner. We could have started covering up his family facts from the other students and-" She was cut off by Iruka holding out a hand to stop her. Sasuke had never seen him so angry.
"Did I just hear you say, you could fix this by covering up Sasuke's home life? As in hiding the fact that his guardians are in a gay relationship from other students?"
"Well yes, that is a way to keep that information away from people that find it disturbing or distracting." She curled her lip around disturbing. "If that is what is causing the violence, then that is what should be taken care of."
Iruka's eyes narrowed dangerously. Sasuke couldn't help the small smile as he watched this argument unfold. "Like you, do you find the fact that I am in a homosexual relationship disturbing and distracting?"
The way she immediately forced her face into a calm appearance and avoided eye contact infuriated Iruka. She gave a false smile and shrugged. "This isn't about my opinion, this is about Sasuke's fight. He hurt that child, how do I know he won't do it again?"
"He hurt that child like that child hurt him. It wouldn't have happened at all if that little snot nosed brat would have had proper manners put into him, and if your system didn't try to hide away things that you don't find 'normal' it wouldn't happen to anyone. Hiding away a home life, that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!" Iruka threw his hands in the air with a humorless smile. "What if a child is being abused at home, do you hide it because it could be disturbing and distracting? How about if a child is dirt poor and their family can barely afford their next meal? Do you hide that because it's not proper and different from all other families? You make me sick! We have love in our home and Sasuke makes great grades, so there is nothing to hide." Iruka turned and grabbed Sasuke by the arm and began his march towards the door. The principle stood there bewildered and perplexed, trying and failing to grasp at words. Iruka glared at her and added one last thing. "If I hear of you insulting any of your students again like you did to Kiba and Naruto, who is my son, I will go straight to the board of education. I have half a mind to stop their on our way home!" With that Iruka left slamming the door.
He let go of Sasuke and stomped from the office ignoring the wide eyed looks from various teachers and students that probably heard most of that argument. He had missed the smirk on the secretary's face but Sasuke hadn't. He smirked right back and walked behind Iruka with his bruised head held high. He even through a smirk towards Ino and Sakura, he was in a good mood after all.
After they made it to the car Sasuke realized that Iruka just sat there trembling in his seat, the key not even in the ignition. He sat there awkwardly waiting but Iruka just sat there gripping the steering wheel tightly in his hands and his eyes squeezed shut. "She probably thinks you're a hippy. You don't even look like Iruka the fifth grade teacher." Sasuke tried to comfort him, Iruka slowly turned to look at him confused. "You're not wearing a suit, your cloths don't even match, and your hair tie is so loose that it slid down your ponytail so you have strands of hair that got out of it. So if you're worried about getting in trouble, just say that it was an evil look alike or something."
Iruka couldn't hold it back, he laughed. Sasuke glared but it just made him laugh harder as he tried to put the key in the ignition switch. He turned the car on but sat laughing some more. When he finally stopped laughing he pulled Sasuke into a hug. The raven squirmed in his grasp a bit but Iruka held him until he hugged back. "I love you Sasuke, thank you for taking up for the family."
Sasuke nodded and hugged tighter. "They insulted Naruto to." Iruka pulled back to look down at Sasuke who seemed defeated. He examined Sasuke and waited for him to continue. "Well, it was more an insult to me, but they are idiots and accidently insulted Naruto. They said he had been really sulky lately and when they found out that he lived with me they said that he was acting like me. He tried to say that before they knew it Naruto was going to be an emo faggot just like me." Sasuke looked away to glare out the window.
Iruka felt his anger boil up again but he pushed it down and breathed deeply. He let out one last breath before grabbing Sasuke in a hug that he didn't pull away from. "How long has this been going on? How do these boys even know Naruto?" Iruka felt dampness on his shoulder and a slight shake to Sasuke's shoulders.
"They're his friends, he started hanging out with them a few weeks ago. They started this shit at the beginning of the year though. They made it so that everyone calls me an emo fag. I'm not even that emo! I just wear darker colors, not even black. They call me a fag because some of the boys found out about you and Kakashi dating. They are just being idiots though, don't leave Kakashi because of me, I don't want you to leave." Iruka's heart broke in two at the pleading way Sasuke cried into his shoulder.
"I'm not going to leave you or Kakashi I promise. You're stuck with me and Naruto." Sasuke made a sound that sounded like his usual 'Hn' but it was muffled. "So you won that fight, and you were even ganged up on. Like a little super hero. Way to go you, Mr. tough man." Iruka laughed as Sasuke pulled away and rolled his eyes with a smirk.
"What about you Mr. Uchiha Iruka Umino, I thought Mrs. Marlow was going to get smacked down. Did you see her face? She was terrified you were going to ruin her life for sure. She wasn't expecting you to put down every piece of argument she threw at you. You can be a diva sometimes, I feel like you were that white girl in class that could take down the system with a single swish of her hair." Sasuke smirked at the unentertained face Iruka made. He laughed when Iruka flipped his hair back dramatically.
"Well I think Hero Sasuke and Diva Iruka deserve a treat for being awesome. Usually that would mean taking Naruto for Ramen, but what do you want?" Iruka threw the car into reverse and backed out of the parking spot before putting the vehicle in drive and driving off.
"Well, I'm feeling taco's and some white-girl-crack." Sasuke said smirking and turning to lean against the car window.
"Food of the heroes and drink of the Divas it is" Iruka laughed as they made their way to Taco Bell and a Starbucks.
**Later that day***
Half an hour before Iruka was going to go pick up Naruto, Kakashi called and said that he was going to pick up Naruto and bring him home. He had forgotten to get the stuff he needed when he was home and was sent home for being unprepared. Lucky him, his boss was pretty awesome and let him stay and work as much as he could before sending him home early for the day. So Iruka and Sasuke sat in the kitchen looking for something decent to have for dinner.
From the sound of the door opening and closing they could tell the other half of their little family was home. From the stomping they could tell that Naruto was upset. "Sasuke! Where are you Teme!" Naruto appeared in the kitchen and zeroed in on the raven standing by the counter. "What the hell do you call today's incident? I meant seriously what the fuck?"
"Naruto! Language!" Iruka was completely ignored as Naruto continued to make his way towards Sasuke who wore a bored expression and stood his ground.
"I beat the shit out of a kid that disrespected my family." Sasuke narrowed his eyes at the blond who was seething mad.
"Oh please get out of here with your stupid Uchiha pride!" Naruto grabbed Sasuke by the collar and pulled them so that they were nose to nose. "What's wrong with this family, eh? And this isn't about family! Why did you beat up my friend? Did he not agree with you, did he say something that upset your delicate feelings, is that it?" Naruto ranted on, the whole time Sasuke just stood there waiting for him to finish.
Kakashi had a tight grip on Iruka who was three seconds away from beating Naruto stupid for being so aggressive. "Just let them work this out; I have a good feeling about this." Iruka glared at him and squirmed keeping a close watch on the two.
"They insulted us Naruto! They insulted our family, all of us! Even you Dobe! Your stupid 'friends' said you were gonna turn into an emo fag like everyone in the school thinks I am. That's why I fought him, that's why I kicked his ass. I would have kicked the other guys' asses to but they ran off, cowards." Sasuke huffed when he was done. Naruto slowly let go of the front of his shirt, a look of shock and understanding on his face. Sasuke patted down his shirt and glared.
The blond swallowed and took a shaky breath. "W-what did they say about our family?" Naruto was trembling and his fists were held tightly to his side. "Tell me Sasuke! When and what was said?" Before Sasuke could even think about telling him Naruto grabbed is wrist and marched out of the room. Kakashi let go of Iruka and they followed after.
They followed the two towards the front door where Naruto grabbed two jackets and threw one at Sasuke. "Where do you think you're going? Dinner is getting prepared and I know you have homework." Iruka crossed his arms but he didn't honestly care about the homework or dinner.
"I'm taking Sasuke for a walk! We're gonna go visit Rusty!" Naruto yelled jerking Sasuke through the door and closing it with a slam. Iruka shook his head as he fixed the mess of coats and hats that Naruto had made.
"Who is Rusty and why did he need to drag Sasuke onto a walk?" Kakashi asked tiredly placing his head onto Iruka's shoulder and snaking his arms around Iruka's mid-section to pull him closer. He placed a light kiss on Iruka's shoulder and smirked when he felt Iruka freeze for a split second.
"Rusty is a dog that Naruto had when he was much younger. Every time he gets angry or frustrated he takes a walk. Sometimes when he really feels down he will walk all the way down to the old house we use to live at and sit under this really pretty willow tree where we had buries Rusty when he died. He was such an old dog, and Naruto pestered that dog so much, but he played with Naruto anyways." Iruka laughed at the memory and unconsciously leaned into Kakashi's hold. "That house was a great old house but it was falling apart so me and Naruto decided it wasn't worth it to try fixing and moved here."
Kakashi smirked and squeezed Iruka tighter in his grip. "Kakashi what are you doing I can't breathe when you do that."
"I couldn't help it, you looked so happy then, I got happy to. Especially since you were so into the hug. You should be happy like that all the time; It suits you well." Iruka rolled his eyes and broke out of Kakashi's grip. He walked from the little entrance room and started wiping down counters. "Hey Iruka!" Kakashi called not moving from his spot.
"Hm?" Iruka hummed looking through the kitchen door to Kakashi.
There was a mischievous glint in Kakashi's eyes that made Iruka narrow his. "You know, the kids are gone, they may not get back until just before dinner, that's like thirty minutes right? A lot can happen in thirty minutes" Kakashi smirked at the deep red that over took Iruka's face. He didn't even try to dodge as a wet rag landed on his head. He laughed and tossed it back, starting a war of wet rags and drying towels.
