Hey! So apparently you guys did not appreciate the ending of Forget You! I can't believe it. I really thought that would have been good closure. :D. Nah, I knew you'd be upset so, here is the other part!
Disclaimer: I don't own anything except the plot
Previously on Forget You:
…As soon as Ally arrived she got ready for bed and was about to fall asleep when there was a knock on the door.
Who could this be at this hour? Trish most likely. Just in case she grabbed a baseball bat that she kept in her closet (long story) and slowly made her was to the door. Hearing the impatient knocking she looked through the peephole, not expecting the person that was actually there. Bringing her hands to her face she whispered one word, or name.
Austin.
If it was anyone else, she could have handled it. Heck, if it was a murderer she probably could have handled it. This was much much worse. Pacing around in front of the door, she was undecided whether or not to open the door. If she opened the door it could lead to welcoming him into their-no- her house, which would lead to talking, which would lead to forgiving and forgiving would lead to other things… And Ally wasn't ready to forgive, let alone anything more.
Deciding to not open the door, she quietly made her way back to the room, but before she made it very far she heard a voice.
"Ally, I know you're there." Austin said leaning this forehead against the door. The truth is he didn't know if she was there, it was mostly just a small hope.
"Ally let me in." He tried again.
"You didn't say the magic word." He cracked a small smile, maybe there was hope for them yet.
"Please let me in?"
"No."
"We need to talk."
"No we don't"
"Ally please" Ally thought she could hear some desperation in his voice, but, she had to be imagining it. He made it pretty clear he didn't care when they broke up.
"Ally-gator it's-"
"DON'T, don't call me that." She cried as she slid down the door onto the floor, holding her knees. A moment passed. On the other side a sigh escaped him.
"Ally, it's raining out here"
"No it's not" The only thing raining was her eyes, and she wasn't about to let him know that.
"Well I'm getting wet." What he didn't tell her was that it was only his face that was getting wet. She didn't need to know.
"Then you must be hallucinating. Because I don't hear it."
"It's not the kind you hear" Austin said, going into the same position that Ally was in. Silence hung thick in the air.
"You performed great today." She sucked in a breath.
"What? You were there?" She whispered, but he went on as if he didn't hear.
"I guess that last song was for me huh?" he let out a wry laugh "Yeah I guess I deserved it after the way I treated you." "Nice touch at the end too. Much appreciated." She brought her head up
"Why were you there?"
"I wanted to see you. You tend to stay out of the line of paparazzi and magazines never really do justice."
"Were you looking for me in magazines? If you wanted to see me why didn't you just come here or ask Trish?"
"Well I kinda figured you'd hit me with the baseball bat, if you still have it, and Trish would probably kick my ass." She let out a small laugh against her will, thinking back to a couple of minutes ago when she thought he was going to come in. She was actually planning to hit him with it. He was glad that he was able to make her laugh, even if it was at his own expense.
"Probably. But you're here now."
"Yeah, as I said I wanted to see you. But after seeing you I wanted to talk to you. You look good Ally, happy. You look happy." With a beat of silence, he realized that he shouldn't have come. He didn't want to be the one to cause her pain, even though she had said, indirectly, that she still loved him. It wasn't the time to say that he did too; you can't say something like that when you're separated by a door. He was about to get up and walk back to his car when he heard a small voice from the other side of the door.
"Thanks… You look good too."
"You haven't even seen me."
"I can imagine. You're the part of the 'most beautiful couple' with-" She found that she couldn't say her name without getting choked up.
"Doesn't mean I'm happy." He mumbled hoping she wouldn't hear, but wishing she would. It was the first.
"What?"
"It's… Nothing." He cleared his throat "So… Will you let me in now?" He began to fiddle with his car keys.
"I- Sorry, but no" She so dearly wanted to let him in and forgive him. But something held her back.
"Yeah, I didn't think so"
"So how have you been?"
And that's how their night went. Ally didn't let Austin in and they both stayed in that cramped position through the night. At around midnight Ally stopped answering, at first Austin thought she was just thinking, or maybe she got upset at him and couldn't bear to speak to him anymore. He felt discouraged but he then heard a soft snore. She only snores when she's really tired, he remembered suddenly. Even though he was glad he came, he realized that he should have come in the day. Getting up, he stretched his arms and legs, which had fallen asleep. Walking to his car he brought out two post-it notes and a pen. Walking back to her door, he reached into his pocket and brought out a small object. He put the post-it note over her peephole and wrote Watch your step and added an arrow pointing down. He proceeded to wrap the object in a, respectably, neon pink post-it and put it over her 'Welcome' mat. Climbing in his car, he reached for his phone and sent a text to Marley.
We need to talk.
A few minutes later he had a response. He knew she'd be up, she told him earlier that she was going to a club with some of her friends.
I think you and I both know that by talk you mean break up. So yeah, we do.
He leaned back in his car. Turning his key in the ignition, he realized that he felt something he hadn't felt in months. He felt free.
She woke up the next morning slumped against the door. She had a nick in her neck and her legs were sore from the position she had them in all night. Standing up, she suddenly remembered that Austin was here. If he was also slumped against the door, she did not want to open the door to find a passed out Austin Moon half in and half out of her front door. Going on her toes to check the peephole, she found that her seeing was impeded by a bright yellow piece of paper. Assuming Austin had to get up to stick it there, Ally opened the door and found empty air. Reaching to take off the paper she noticed "Watch your step" scribbled on it. Looking down she saw a small pink package lying on her 'Welcome' mat. Taking note off the peephole she bent down and picked the small package up. Closing her door once more, she opened the package. In her hand lay a silver key. Widening her eyes slightly she put the key on a table and ran to her purse in her room. Navigating through all her junk, she finally fished out her house key.
Walking back to the table she held the two keys up to inspect them better.
The only difference between them was that hers was connected to her studio key, car key, and a little chain with the letter 'A' hanging from it.
She suddenly realized that she never took away Austin's house key when they broke up.
She suddenly realized that Austin was always able to come inside, but he had asked and never came in.
She suddenly questioned what the 'A' on her keys stood for.
That's a wrap! So was that ending better? :) Thank you to my three reviewers.
Ross's Juliet: Thanks! Now you know! She opened the door and found a key, and a question.
