Dee's POV

"Daemon why don't you want to socialize with the other parents and students?" I said.

"What would we talk about? I don't have a job and I don't like kids"

"But there is one cute, amazing little girl that I know you'll love" I said with a smile on my face thinking about Aaliyah.

"I highly doubt that" He said with an annoyed look on his face.

"Daemon I know you're not happy. But don't you think Katy would want to see that you have accomplished something like a job or finish school?"

I saw his eyes flashed as he said very angrily, "Don't talk about Katy like that you don't know her like I do"

"Excuse me, but have you forgotten she was my best friend" I threw back irritated. I was about to say more when all of a sudden I heard a very loud yell.

" !" When I turned around I saw Aaliyah running really fast towards me. I held out my arms to catch her so she wouldn't fall. When I caught her she started giggling.

"Aaliyah come here" I heard someone say. I looked up expecting to see Katy but I just saw this young lady who looked Asian wearing red lipstick and an awesome winged eye look.

"Hi Ms. Black this is my mommy's friend Miranda. She couldn't come because she had to go to work. But don't worry she'll be here later," Aaliyah said while looking up at me and holding my hand. She was wearing the cutest little red dress with a bow in her hair. Katy sure knows how to make her daughter look even more adorable. I looked towards Daemon and saw that he was staring at Aaliyah. He probably saw how much she resembles Katy.

"Hello I'm Miranda as little Aaliyah said. I'm a friend off her mom's. She said she would be here in an hour when her shift is over." Miranda seemed nice I could see why Katy would be friends with her. It might sound selfish but I hope Katy hasn't replaced me. I really miss her and can't wait to see her.

"I'm Aaliyah's teacher Ms. Black but you can call me Dee. There is food and drinks over there and you can socialize with the other adults while the children play," I said trying to find a way for Aaliyah to hang out with Daemon without being rude to Miranda.

"Ok thanks. Aaliyah I'll look for you when your mom gets here. Ok?"

"Ok Miranda" Aaliyah had the cutest smile ever. Miranda starting walking towards the other adults to probably make some small talk. I heard Aaliyah asking something and turned towards her then noticed she was talking to Daemon.

Daemon's POV

I couldn't stop staring at the little girl named Aaliyah. She reminded me so much of Katy. I don't know how that's possible or maybe it's just a figment of my imagination. Probably the latter because even looking into glass of milk reminded me of her. I was broken out of my thoughts when I heard her asking me something.

"I'm sorry what did you say?"

"Hi I'm Aaliyah. Who are you?" She said that with a smile on her face. I noticed that she had really adorable dimples.

"Um my name is Daemon" I said really awkwardly I don't really know how to interact with kids. Luckily Dee came to my rescue.

"This big oaf is my twin brother" She said a smirk on her face. I was about to talk back when I heard the most adorable laugh come from Aaliyah.

"You're really tall mister. Did you know I'm six years old? I can't wait for you and Ms. Black to meet my mommy, she's really pretty. Ms. Black can you play with me because my friends aren't coming. And not to be mean but the other kids are annoying" Wow that kid can talk really fast.

"I'm sorry Aaliyah but I have to watch over all the kids" I could tell she wanted to play with Aaliyah. But unfortunately she was the teacher. I don't know what magical force possessed me to say these next words.

"I can play with you if you want"

"Really Mr. Daemon? You will?" Well I already said it so there was no going back now.

"Yea sure what do you want to do?"

"Can you push me on the swings?" She said with a hopeful look on her face. Then I heard Dee say, "Well I will leave you guys to it. Have fun."

"Bye Ms. Black," Aaliyah said back waving.

"Well let's go to the swings" I said. When I started walking I was startled when she put her hand in mine but I didn't let her see. As we were walking she kept holding my hand and started to do a hop skip kind of thing while humming a song I didn't recognize. Usually children tend to annoy me but Aaliyah was really likeable. I heard her keep mentioning her mom but not her dad. I wonder where he is. Does she even have one? When we got to the swing I had to pick her up because she wasn't quite tall enough to get on her own. After about thirty minutes on the swings with her telling me, "HIGHER, HIGHER, hehehehe" I pulled her off because I was afraid I would push her too high and have her end up falling off. With a bright smile on her face showing those cut dimples again she said, "That was really fun Mr. Daemon!"

"You don't have to call me Mister if you don't want to"

"But my mommy said it was polite to call older people Mister and Misses"

"Well your mommy taught you well but I would prefer if you would call me just Daemon"

"Ok Daemon. Can you read with me now because I'm tired and reading is a lot more fun"

"Sure" I slung her backpack on my shoulder while she took my hand and lead me to a tree and sat down. She grabbed her backpack and I expected her to pull out something like Barbie or Dr. Seuss. I didn't expect her to pull out Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan.

"Um are you sure you want to read this book?" I asked a little unsure if she could understand the words.

"Yes. My mommy got it for me last weekend but I wasn't able to read it until now. She said she liked it when she read it"

"Um ok. Do you want me to read to you?" I wasn't really sure what she wanted me to do.

"No me and my mommy usually read together at the same time. Can you read with me?"

"Yea I can do that."

I was surprised yet again to see that Aaliyah could read almost all the words except a few of the long ones perfectly. I wonder why Dee doesn't put her in a higher grade level. She probably wanted Aaliyah longer because this little girl is so unique.

Katy's POV

"See you later Albert," I said while waving to one of my co workers. I was barely getting off my shift and rushing to get to the picnic. During my break I called Miranda and she told me that Aaliyah was playing with the teacher's brother. It worried me at first but Miranda said that they both looked like they were having an amazing time together. My job unfortunately didn't have a bathroom at the moment because they were getting remodeled, so I had to change in my car. When I was sure no one was around I changed into a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and an off shoulder white knitted long sleeve. Even though it was spring, it was a little cold today. When I turned into the school parking lot I didn't see any picnic and thought they were probably in the back of the school where there was an open field and a lot bigger than the playground for the first graders. When I got to the picnic I saw Miranda and started walking towards her.

"Hey Miranda thanks so much for bringing Aaliyah," I said while giving her a hug.

"Hey no problem Katy you know I would do anything for you and your little girl"

"Speaking of my little angel, where is she?"

"Last I saw her she was by the swings. I would help you look for her but I need to get to the university I have an exam I need to do"

"That's fine. Again thank you. I'll see you later Miranda"

"Bye Katy"

I started walking looking for the swings and right when I turned around I bumped into someone. I couldn't believe who it was. I never thought I would see this person again.

"You?!" He gasped looking right in my eyes like he couldn't believe it.

"It's you," I said.
