The events that took place at the school last week had taken their toll on everyone involved, Katrina included. The school had been closed until Monday so the police could effectively search the building for evidence. Scott seemed to have gotten the bad end of the deal because Allison had thought it would be best if they "took a break." Katrina had decided it would be in her best interest to just keep to herself during the mini vacation from school. She was still shaken up from her first shift, even though it was forced, and was dreading the return to school. The reason why? It was to be her first full moon. She was a freshly bitten werewolf, not even a week old, and was to face the draw of the moon.

Katrina was awake about fifteen minutes before her alarm was supposed to go off, just staring at her ceiling, lost in thought. She was worried about how the day was going to play out since she was already feeling different. Katrina wondered if this was how Scott was felt on his first full moon.

"Beacon Hills High School reopens today after its closing. Police are still searching for alleged murderer Derek Hale-" The news anchor on the radio was quickly cut off by a slap of the snooze button. Katrina reluctantly sat up and sighed, running a hand through her hair. Swinging her legs over the side of the bed, she stood and walked towards her closet. Deciding to just take it easy with her appearance, she quickly threw on some black skinny jeans, a white cut off shirt of the Beatles that showed off some of Katrina's newly toned stomach, and her leather jacket. Slipping on her jacket, her thoughts drifted to Derek. She wondered if he was actually dead or off somewhere healing. Thinking of him made her more terrified for what was going to happen tonight since he wasn't around to catch her if she got loose. With a quick shake of her head, Katrina tried to rid herself of the thoughts of Derek Hale. The more she dwelled on him, the more guilt that built up inside of her due to Scott's lie.

Since her car was completely and utterly destroyed by the Alpha when they were at the school, Katrina had no choice but to call Lydia for a ride to school.

"So how exactly did Derek ruin your car?" Lydia peered at her cousin from the corner of her eye as she drove.

"I don't know exactly but it's not going to be able to be restored." Katrina sighed, not liking herself for blaming Derek but didn't let Lydia know that. She turned her view out the window, hoping that if she keeps view away from Lydia, no more questions would be asked.

The entire school was a buzz with rumors about what exactly had happened in the school the previous week. Names had been withheld so the only people who knew who was in the building that night was Katrina, Scott, Stiles, Lydia, Allison, and Jackson. With another shake of her head, Katrina tried to keep her focus on her breathing as she walked down the halls towards the temporary chemistry room. Silently slipping into a seat in the back corner, she managed to avoid being seen by both Scott and Stiles. She closed her eyes and focused on her breathing as Mr. Harris passed out their tests.

"You have 45 minutes to complete the test. 25% of your grade can be earned right now by simply writing your name on the cover of the blue book. However, as it happens every year, one of you will inexplicably fail to put your name on the cover, and I'll be left yet again questioning my decision to ever become a teacher. So let's get the disappointment over with. Begin."

Katrina began answering the questions with ease. The only thing bothering her about this whole test was that the room was way too quiet. This left room for the annoying sounds most people can't hear to be brought upon Katrina's ears. The tapping of a pencil on a desk, repeated clicking of pens, scraping of erasers, the buzz of cell phones on the vibrate setting. Katrina was losing focus fast. "Is this all because of the full moon?" She thought to herself as she turned to the next page. Instead of an academic question, Katrina saw something different written on her test.

Your first full moon is tonight. When the bloodlust takes over, will you…

A. Kill all of your friends?

B. Kill some of your friends?

C. Lydia

D. No one

Katrina squeezed her eyes shut, hoping that when she opened them, the real question would be there.

Will you be able to get control before the Hunters find you?

A. Yes

B. No

C. Probably Not

D. Yeah if Derek was still alive

Katrina began to panic, her eyes searching the room hoping that Scott or Stiles noticed her freaking out. The annoying noises began to wear on her nerves. Scott was in a similar position as Katrina and could hear her begin to hyperventilate from across the room. A flash of black and blonde passed his line of vision as he saw Katrina grab all her things, slam her test of Mr. Harris's desk, and run out the door. Feeling the same as her, Scott grabbed his own bag and ran out after her.

"Ms. Martin! Mr. McCall!"

Scott caught up with Katrina in the hallway, grabbing her hand and trying to get her to run to the boys locker room. The faint call of "Mr. Stilinski!" could be heard as the teens rushed down the halls. They passed a girls bathroom so Katrina ripped her hand from Scott's grasp and dashed towards the bathroom. Scott barely registered what happened as he reached the locker room alone.

Katrina sank to the floor and grabbed her hair, trying to gain control of her breathing.

"Kat? Scott? Where are you guys?" The faint calls of Stiles could be heard from outside. His footsteps passed the bathroom she was in when he heard Scott's ringtone echoing in the distance. Katrina was still hyperventilating and dwelling on the pull of the full moon that she was already feeling. Would she actually hurt someone tonight? Maybe even kill someone? What if it was Lydia?

She felt alone, terrified, and completely lost. Her right leg began to bounce as her anxiety rose higher. Footsteps could be heard in the hallway along with male voices, Scott and Stiles.

"Scott, if you were this bad…"

"Oh no, Kat."

"Where did she go? You're the one with the super hearing." Katrina slapped her hand over mouth to silence her frantic breathing. She didn't want to be found

"I can't hear her."

"What do you mean, she ran out before you."

"Either she left or…"

"She can hear us and is hiding incredibly well. You under estimate me Katrina Martin, I am pretty clever too." Katrina could just picture the smirk that was on Stiles face.

Suddenly the sounds of Natalia Kills "Wonderland" filled the girls bathroom, indicating that Katrina's phone had gone off. She frantically tried to shut it off. Once she got it to stop, the boy's footsteps stopped outside of the bathroom she was in.

"Please come out Kat." Scott pleaded with her softly.

"I'm alright." Her response came out extremely shaky as she tried to prove that she was ok.

"Kat…" Stiles voice sounded worried.

"Stop calling me that!" Katrina snapped, digging her hands back into her hair. She began tapping her foot, trying to focus on something.

"Scott, it's hitting her harder than you."

"I can still hear you, just so you know."

"Katri…"

"No, just go!" Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes as breathing became even harder. She was grasping at her chest, hoping to get rid of whatever was making the intake of oxygen hard for her.

"She's getting worse, I'm going in." The door to the bathroom creaked open and Katrina snapped her head to see who it was. Scott and Stiles caught sight of Katrina, who was still having trouble breathing and had small scratches littering her throat and chest. She didn't realize that she had actually started to cry. Scott and Stiles could describe how she looked in one word: terrified. Stiles decided to be brave and grabbed Scott's inhaler from his bag. He crouched down in front of her, wiping a few tears in hopes that she could trust what he was going to do.

"Trust me, ok?" He uncapped the inhaler and slid it between her lips, pressing the button to release the medicine. Katrina felt the puff of medicine go down her throat, allowing her to relax. A shaky sigh escaped her lips as her breathing returned to normal.

"An asthma attack? That's what I was having?" Her eyes flitted between Scott and Stiles.

"No, it was actually a panic attack. It's your first full moon, you're scared." Katrina flung herself at Stiles in a grateful hug. He caught her easily but fell backwards at the initial impact. Stiles was shocked that Katrina was acting so friendly towards him. He looked over at Scott as he could barely hear Katrina mumble thank you into his shoulder. Scott let a small smile grace his lips. He knew that she had a hard time letting people in or just interacting with people in general. The fact that she had no friends made all of that even harder. So for her to willingly hug Stiles like that was a step in the right direction and for her to actually see the pair of them as friends. Katrina was surprisingly comfortable with the fact that Stiles and Scott would do anything to help her; she was not used to depending on anyone or just having someone there after Kyle disappeared. Pulling back from the embrace, she wiped her cheeks and looked up at Scott.

"I'm scared that I'm going to kill someone tonight." Katrina's heightened senses were overwhelming her and she genuinely didn't know what to do.

"God, you and Scott are so negative." Scott held a hand out for Katrina to help her up. Graciously accepting it, she stood and looked at her appearance. Splashing some water on her face and fluffing her hair, Katrina wrapped her arms around the boy's shoulders and led them from the bathroom.

The trio separated as the boys left for the locker room to change for practice. The only reason Katrina was attending Lacrosse practice today was because Lydia was and she was her ride home. Katrina sat down on the bleachers and waited for her cousin.

"So…" Lydia had finally arrived and sat next to Katrina, "You have been hanging out with Scott and Stiles a lot. Why are you doing that?" Lydia's lipstick was smeared above her lip causing Katrina to narrow her gaze at the girl.

"I don't really know."

"How did you end up at the school anyway?"

"Stayed behind in the library after detention on the wrong day." Lying to Lydia was painful but necessary at this point.

"Detention? I know you have your tough loner chick vibe going on but that seems a little extreme. And why were Scott and Stiles still there? Were they in detention too?" Katrina could feel her blood begin to boil.

"LYDIA!" Katrina snapped at her cousin to stop all the questions and because she could feel her shift coming on.

"Your eyes are doing that shifting color thing they do in the sun, making it more sea green today. I like it. We actually have good light over here for once." Lydia noticed and didn't seem to think anything of it. Katrina slammed her eyes shut before her eyes fully turned into their werewolfy glowing blue. She rested her head on her knees and took some calming breaths. A loud crash was heard on the field causing Katrina to snap her head towards the commotion.

"Danny." Lydia noticed what had happened on the field and the pair ran down to see if the boy was all right. Once deeming him to be ok, Katrina returned to the bleachers to sit down. What she was not expecting was Jackson to follow her.

"Hey Katrina, can I talk to you?" Katrina tuned around to face Jackson.

"You never want to talk to me, why now?"

"I want to talk about the other night at the school."

"Everyone keeps saying that, Lydia won't…"

"I mean about what you and Scott did." Katrina's expression grew colder.

"What about it?"

"You guys leaving, I understand why you did it." Confusion flooded her eyes as she stared at Jackson.

"You do?"

"Yeah. Derek was going to kill us and you have already lost someone from your family."

"Destroyed my car too. You would be pissed if that happened to you."

"Yeah, you're absolutely right. I just wanted to say thank you. And that I'm very grateful." Jackson stepped closer to Katrina as he was talking. She eyed him warily as he closed in on her.

"Really?" Katrina narrowed her eyes.

"Extremely, I'll prove it. At least I know you don't have lipstick to mess up" Jackson grabbed Katrina's hand to draw her closer and leaned down to kiss her.

"Hey Kat!" Katrina was snapped out of whatever was drawing her to Jackson at Stiles declaration. She shoved him away and stalked over to Stiles, a deep frown etched onto her face. Stiles gave her a confused look as she approached.

"Everything ok?"

"Just peachy. Jackson thought that he could get me to make out with him and me, I'm guessing because of the moon, only stopped him once you snapped me out of whatever trance it was."

"Well, I'm happy to have gotten you out of Captain Douchebag's clutches. Can't say Scott could do the same as you seeing as he made out with Lydia."

"I noticed. I got angry about it, she noticed my eyes shift but thought we actually had good lighting outside and told me I actually looked pretty for once. I'm somewhat insulted. Am I not pretty Stiles?" Katrina turned to stare him dead in the eye with a pout and sad puppy dog eyes. Stiles began to stutter frantically, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. He turned bright red and grumbled as he noticed the huge sly smirk that graced Katrina's face. She already knew that she was an attractive girl to most boys, not that she would ever admit it. Stiles also knew that she was attractive, she was cousins with the love of his life, they both have the same beautiful genes.

"So, here's the game plan. I know it's your first full moon and all, so I'm going to get you set up and go over and torture Scott as payback. Unless you'd like to be in the same place so I can keep an eye on you too?"

"I'd rather not be around for the bro moments if you don't mind." Stiles proceeded to drive Katrina to her house. He produced a pair of handcuffs and handed them to her.

"Just cuff yourself to the sturdiest thing in your room. Call if you need anything ok?" Katrina gave him a small smile as she went to get out of the car. She turned back to Stiles before she left.

"Thank you for earlier, by the way." With another small smile, she walked up and inside her house.

Katrina took a quick look around her house confirming that her parents were out for the night and wouldn't be back until morning. She went into her bedroom and took a deep breath. Finding her heater bolted to the floor near her window, she snapped one cuff around her wrist and then around the leg of the heater. Katrina closed her eyes and rested her head against the wall, begging for this night to be over.

As the moon got higher in the sky, Katrina began to feel even worse than before. She was sweating profusely and trying to rip the cuff off her wrist. She sent an S.O.S. text off to Stiles in hopes that maybe Scott was ok that he could come help her. The moon began to shine in through her window and Katrina began to tug more frantically at the cuffs. Her breathing turned into quick pants as the moonlight hit her.

Katrina let out a loud scream as her shift hit her. Her vision turned red and it felt as though her body was on fire. With one last tug of her cuffs, she was free. Katrina fled out the window and into the forest. The beast inside Katrina had been unleashed.

The wind blew threw Katrina's long blonde hair, creating a soft flowing wave as she ran deeper into the woods. She was performing on pure instinct, the blood lust rising to the surface. If she had more control, one could venture as far as to call her a beautiful creature with her bright ice blue eyes glowing as she traveled further.

"Katrina…" She stopped in her tracks. The voice sounded hauntingly familiar but the urge to kill was too strong so she continued running.

"Katrina." The voice was closer and more forceful, almost comforting to the human side of Katrina. She finally stopped and turned towards the sound. Behind her stood another wolf that seemed to resemble Derek. Katrina took a step towards him before remembering the Alpha killed the brooding Hale. She backed away, striking a defensive position. The wolf within her released a warning growl before she launched herself at her opponent. The man braced himself as Katrina collided with him. He swiped his claws across her sides, desperately trying to get her to calm down.

"Katrina focus! It's me!" She just growled and started her next attack. Instead of succeeding in knocking the man over, he pounced back and proceeded to tackle Katrina to the dirt. She let out a huge huff of air as the oxygen was forced from her lungs. The man grabbed both of her wrists and pinned them to the ground near her head. Katrina writhed underneath the man, trapped by his strong hips and legs. The man growled in her face and proceeded to snap her wrists. The pain was too much for Katrina, causing her to shift back into her human form with a bloodcurdling scream.

"I'm sorry Kat, I had to do that. You wouldn't shift back." Katrina slowly opened her eyes and finally saw whom she attacked. She was in a very provocative position with Derek Hale and Katrina felt her face flush at the closeness of the older man.

"Derek? Wh- what? How?" Derek got off Katrina and offered her a hand to gently pull her up, carefully minding the healing wrists. Once fully standing, Katrina launched herself at Derek, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck in a hug. Derek stumbled in surprise of the affection from the normally closed off girl but caught her easily. He returned the hug as he felt tears' dripping down the side of his neck and the shutters of quiet sobs wracking through the small girls body. Derek felt bad for leaving Katrina by herself on her first full moon but he was not going to admit that part of him cared for the two teens he was teaching.

"Sorry, I'm sorry." Katrina pulled out of the hug and softly put her feet back on the ground, stepping away from Derek while furiously wiping the traitorous tears away. Katrina had let the fact that her werewolf mentor was actually alive overwhelm her and now she couldn't look him directly in the eye. She knew that he knew that Katrina wasn't one for showing affection. Twice today she allowed the help of others to cause her tough exterior to slip. Katrina straightened up and took a deep breathe before looking up at Derek; His wolf eyes still glowing just in case hunters got the best of them. Katrina finally knew what her eyes looked like when she shifted; they looked just like Derek's. Derek sighed as he looked at the girl who looked so strong after her rabid attack on him.

"Let's just get you home, hmm? I already brought Scott back before I found you. Honestly we all thought you were ok until Stiles called Scott saying you were missing."

"What happened to me Derek?" She asked softly.

"Exactly what he wants to happen." Derek turned away from Katrina and began to lead the way back to her house.

So sorry for the long delay posting this chapter :( I've been trying to get some things in my life together and haven't been really successful so my writing suffered.

As always let me know what you think about my story. I've already planned out everything through the season 3 summer finale (plus a few other story ideas) so hopefully I'll get on track and have a good amount out before Jan 6th :)
