A/N I'm terribly sorry for taking so long to update, but I seriously had no idea how to work the story out (I'm still not 100 percent sure.) But here's an update.

not sure if anyone's still interested in reading this, but yeah posting it anyway. Please let me know what you guys think and if you have any ideas on where you'd like the story to go, please let me know. Maybe I'll use some of it.

I know it's not that long, but the next chapter will be longer since all the drama will be starting, anyway hope you guys like it.

and a huge thanks to my beta!

CHAPTER 7

"So, what's going on between you and Myka?" Steve asked H.G. while they were driving towards the airport. It was meant to sound casual but it came out the complete opposite.

"Honestly I'm afraid I don't know and Myka refuses to talk to me. I'm actually pretty sure that everyone knows more about this than I do." H.G. answered him with a desperate sigh.

The two hadn't really had the time to get to know each other better besides the occasional snag and bag, but H.G. had decided early on that she liked the younger man. The first time they met, the younger man had died, she hadn't known him back then but she had felt for him, he didn't deserve to die that day. Luckily they both made it out of that disaster alive, both with the help of some artefacts nevertheless.

"You know I don't want to stick my nose into your business.."

"Please do Steven, because I am out of ideas."

"Myka's mad at you."

H.G. gave Steve a look...

"Right, you already know that. But have you considered that besides angry she might be hurt as well? After Sykes you disappeared completely. And after you went off the grid with the astrolabe you didn't even check in to see how everybody was doing. If I were Myka I'd be hurt and angry too."

When H.G. didn't immediately reply Steve figured he let her have some time to think it all through and they spent the rest of the ride in silence. It wasn't until they were boarding their plain that H.G. said something.

"I'm not really supposed to tell you this. So I'm going to hope you'll ask the right questions if you want to know. And who knows maybe I'll accidentally let something slip..."

"Emma you in there?" Claudia asked while she knocked on the girl's bedroom door. When she didn't receive an answer she knocked again, but that one went unanswered as well.

She figured it wouldn't really hurt taking a look into the room to see if Emma was in there, she just wanted to make sure she was okay. Claudia hadn't seen the girl since she dashed out of the warehouse like she had left something in the oven burning.

"Emma, I don't know if you're in here but I'm opening the door okay, please don't be naked." Claudia said as she slowly poked her head through the door opening.

The room was a complete mess; the floor was full of what looked to be star maps and calendars. The desk was a mess as well. Claudia looked further around the room and she spotted Emma sprawled on the bed, fast asleep with a post-it stuck on her face.

Claudia made her way through the mess towards the bed and gently took the post it from Emma's face and looked at what was written upon it.

There wasn't really anything legible written on it, mostly just scribbles. Although, there was one thing that she could make out, it was a date. Claudia noted that it was 3 days from now.

Claudia tried to put the post it back on Emma's face without her waking up but she failed miserably and the young girl woke up.

"Right, not awkward at all..." Claudia muttered to herself.

Emma sat up to stretch while she let out a big yawn.

"Sorry didn't mean to interrupt your beauty sleep, but I was kinda worried since you stormed out of the warehouse without a normal explanation. So would you like to tell me what all this is about?"

"It's nothing really. I just like stars and stuff you know?" Emma gave Claudia a sheepish look

"And I'm supposed to believe that? Look you were telling me how it could help talking to someone about your future. So don't go bailing on me now! I was actually kinda curious." Claudia said as she sat down besides Emma on the bed.

Emma took a deep breath before she started talking.

"I'm not sure if this will mess up the future or something, but I really don't know what to do. You know how I said that I'm 16... The year I came from is 2030 which means that I'll be born this year right? But this is where the problem begins.

"How can I be born this year when my parents aren't even together?! I did the math and they should really start getting together soon, otherwise I won't even be born."

"Right... I don't really know what you want from me here? Sure it sucks and all that, but it's probably meant to be this way, are you even sure this isn't how it happened? "

"Claudia, my parents aren't even talking to each other..." Emma said with a desperate sigh as she stood up and walked towards the window.

"Right so we come up with a plan, that if they know one another exist right?"

"Yeah they do, it's just I have no idea how to get them to do... well you know... the thing!"

"You can just say sex you know..."

"Yeah well I'd really rather not and believe me you wouldn't want that mental image if you knew either."

"You know we could just get them drunk and hope they'll end up having a one night stand which will lead to you?"

Emma gave Claudia a look.

"Well maybe not, but think about it, it could actually work?"

"Yeah, I don't think so Claude."

"Why not?! We could borrow an artefact from the warehouse to make them drunk and the rest will be history... Well future."

"I'm afraid it will take more than a single artefact to get my mother pregnant."

"Have a little faith little one! Heck we'll even set them up for a little date. I'm totally seeing this!

"Mr and Mrs parents of Emma, having a romantic dinner and then they'll realize their feelings and boom! There you are!"

"Claudia.."

"No! I don't want to hear it. This is going to work, I'm telling you. Let me get my laptop to see what artefact we could use."

"Claudia.."

"Maybe I'll ask Myka to cover for us with Artie.."

"CLAUDIA!"

Claudia looked at Emma with a surprised look; Emma figured she'd probably forgot She was even there.

"Now that I have your attention. We are not setting my parents up on a date to use an artefact on them to help them end up in bed. It's not going to work."

"And why is that Miss I know everything better?" Claudia asked offended

"Because, one: My parents would never fall for that. And secondly, this might be a minor problem, I don't know about you but I figured it was going to be tough getting my parents to sleep together and get my mom pregnant in one go, and maybe I'm just being stupid... but I'm thinking it'll take about two other artefacts to get my mom pregnant since I have two moms..."

"Leena! Good you're here, I was actually just looking for you!" Claudia said as she entered Artie's office.

"What's got you all excited?" Leena asked with a smile as Claudia dragged her into the file room.

"I have a question and it's like really, really important and Artie cannot find out about it ever!" Claudia said with a serious tone

"Alright, I'll see if I can answer it. But just so you know, Artie will probably find out about it anyway."

"I know, but I'm kinda hoping he'll find out until it's too late."

"Well when he does find out, I had nothing to do with this."

"Yeah yeah, fine I promise.

"So here's the thing, imagine two women right? And they like each other a lot. And let's say they want to start a family but they can't because they're two women."

Leena looked confused "Is there something you want to tell me Claude?"

"What?! Me? NO! It's about a friend of mine... Anyway where were we? Right the two women want a child, would there be you know, some artefact that could help them?"

"Let me get this straight, so a friend of yours wants a child with their partner and you're wondering if there's an artefact to help them?" Leena looked even more confused "I didn't know you had friends, other friends outside of the warehouse."

"No they're not exactly friends, meaning I don't know who they are but I have another friend who knows them and kinda really needs that artefact to exist. And I resent that! I have friends, kinda, maybe..." Claudia trailed off "But you're forgetting that we are imagining this couple that wants to have a baby."

"Right so you have imaginary friends who want a baby? And you are wondering if there's an artefact that could possibly help them?"

"Hey! They are not imaginary okay!"

"Why don't you just tell me what's really going on?"

"I can't I swore not to tell anyone!"

"I can't really help you unless I know what we're dealing with, there could be all sorts of downsides if we don't think this through Claudia and you know that."

"Alright but you have to promise me that you won't tell anyone, especially Artie." Claudia said with a serious look

"Alright I promise, now what are we dealing with?"

Claudia looked around to see if anyone had entered the office, when she was certain they were alone she started talking.

"So Emma has a little bit of a problem. This is the year she gets born, but you see her parents they're not really together at the moment... And she did all sorts of math resulting in a certain day when her parents would you know, get together. But her parents aren't actually talking to each other, I don't even know how she knows that, but I'll take her word for it because she actually looks pretty freaked out. And so I came with the idea of getting them drunk which would result into them having a one night stand or something, I know not the smartest idea but I was just trying to help right? And then she goes and says that she has two moms, so she would need another artefact in order for her mom to get pregnant, well at least one of them anyway."

When Leena didn't immediately say something Claudia gave her a worried look.

"There's no such artefact is there?"

"No actually there is, it's in the warehouse but you'll never get it out of here without Artie noticing."

"So what are we going to do?" Claudia asked with a desperate sigh.

"What are you going to do about what?" Both Leena and Claudia jumped as Artie spoke to them.

"Uhm, Pete ate dinner and now we don't have any food so I'm going to have to go shopping and make dinner all over again." Leena said trying to save them.

For a minute Artie looked at them curiously and then he turned and walked towards his desk.

"I just spoke to Steve and H.G. they landed safely and just checked into the hotel, they'll go and check on the lead tomorrow. I also just sent Myka and Pete on a ping in Boone, something about criminals who suddenly confess to their crimes. I need you two to do check up on an artefact disturbance near the H.G. Wells section, something is acting off and I need to know what it is.

"Why are you still standing there? There's work to do people, chop chop!"

So again, let me know what you think!
