"BLUEEEEEEE" screamed Green as he enter the narrow alleyway into Blue's home.
Green ran as fast as his legs could take him, ignoring the pain in his stomach as he saw the house in the distance.
"Hello sir, how can I help…?"
"I need a taxi to this address below" interrupted Green as he slammed the piece of paper on the table.
The help desk attendee looked at the piece of paper and then backed at the teenager before picking up the phone and dialing the number to the taxi company. She spoke with the person on the other line for several minutes as Green impatiently tapped his finger on the counter.
"Are you sure this is the right address sir? The company says that this address is not in the town map?"
Green let out an exasperated sigh and grabbed his bags before turning around and uttering a deadly "Forget it". The attendee looked at the boy in shock before hanging up the phone and assisting other customers.
Green had forgotten that Blue's house was hidden away from the rest of the world and critiqued his sense of judgement. His grandfather's words replaying in his mind, "When it comes to Blue, you can't think straight." He punched the stone pillar beside him as he thought back on his grandfather's confession. He couldn't believe that his grandfather had been hiding such an important secret from him and even worst, he couldn't believe that his grandfather would actually try to forbid him from returning. His anger reached the maximum and he punched the stone pillar once more, trying to relieve the stress before a car parked right in front of him.
"Green, What do you think you're doing!?" yelled Professor Ivy as she rolled down the window of her car.
Green looked at the woman and tried to recollect himself. It wasn't like him to throw a fit in public, so he tried to calm himself down. Professor Ivy grabbed his bags and started to load them in the car.
"I never thought you would behave so rashly Green" scolded Professor Ivy as she opened the front door urging Green to sit. "You gave your grandfather a terrible scare"
Green gave her an icy glare, but proceeded to sit in the car. Professor Ivy secretly hid her smile. She couldn't believe how irrational the teenager had become and found his rebellion to be slightly adorable.
"What are you giggling at?" questioned Green as he watched the woman give off a creepy smile.
"Oh, nothing, well anyways, you can rest up at my house and then first thing tomorrow, we'll send you straight back to Pallet…"
Before Professor Ivy could finish, she noticed that Green had gotten out of the car and was sprinting down the sidewalk. She gave out a sigh and proceeded to enter her car and chase after him, but was stopped by the traffic light. She let out an annoyed sigh and waited for the light to turn green, but by the time the light had changed, she had lost track of Green's figure.
Green continued running, he didn't know how far he had been running before he finally reached the marketplace. He stopped for a moment to catch his breath, resting his hands on his knee, as he checked his surroundings. The marketplace was bumbling with people minding their own business, and Green seemed extremely out of place with his soaked t-shirt and quickened breaths. He started to walk around the market place looking for the alleyway that would lead to Blue's house before a pack of suited men bumped into him. The men were carrying a sack, and Green could tell that something alive was in the sack by the way it was moving.
"Hey…."
The men turned around and realized that there cover was blown and they quickly pushed Green and ran towards a parked car. Several civilians looked at the unusual sight but no one dared get involved. Green was surprised by the sudden thrust and quickly got up, before seeing more men come out of an alleyway. It was then that Green realized that the men had come from Blue's house. Green tried to run towards the car, but the men were smarter and started the car's engine and quickly drove off. Green tried to run after them, but the cars speed was too fast for him to catch up and he fell down on the street. By then, a huge crowd had surrounded him as spectators watched the boy get to his knees. Green quickly looked back at the alleyway and ran as fast as he could.
"BLUEEEEEEE" screamed Green as he jumped over the fence.
He quickly slammed the front door of the house open and was horrified at the sight he saw. Broken glass was scattered around the floor, tables and chairs were flipped around, and curtains were teared from the windows. Several of the beer bottles had been smashed and the cabinet doors were permanently detached. There were several articles of clothing and broken dishes splattered across the floor and Green feared for the worst.
"BLUEEEE" Green screamed again as he made his way around the house looking for any signs of life. He dashed into Blue's room to see her room was also in the same state as the rest of the house. Her mattress being lopsided, all of her belongings trashed onto the floor, and several glass shards surrounded the broken glass door within her room. As he opened the closet, he let out a breath of relief as he saw Blue huddled in the corner.
Blue froze when she heard someone enter the house, but when she saw that it was Green who had opened the door, she quickly pulled him into a hug. She cried into his chest, visibly shaken by the aftermath of the mess she was in.
"Blue, thank god you're safe" whispered Green as he pulled her into a tighter embrace
Blue let out more sobs as Green gently stroked her hair. "It's okay I'm here now" he whispered in a reassuring voice. Green observed his surroundings and could see small drops of blood on the floor.
"Blue, I need you to tell me what happened",
Blue looked up at him as tears continued to stream down her face, "Th… They… took my stepfather… the… loan sharks"
Green looked at her, part of him was glad that they took her stepfather and left her safely here, but at the same time, he was angry at what they did to Blue all together. "Did they do anything to you?" asked Green as he clutched her tighter
"No, but they took my mother's momentum" cried Blue.
Green gave Blue a small peck on her forehead, trying to calm down the visibly shaken Blue. He leaned against the wall of the closet and let her lean against him until her sobs quieted down. When he knew she was calm he looked at her and gave her a gentle kiss. They sat in that position for a couple of minutes before Green finally spoke.
"Blue, take whatever you can and let's go back to Pallet town"
"But, Green…" whispered Blue wearily, "they took my mother's momentum and it's not right to leave my stepfather to those danger people"
"After everything he's done to you, you're still willing to help him!?" exclaimed Green as he released Blue from his hold.
"Regardless of what happened, he's still a person, and you wouldn't leave someone in a situation like that" responded Blue as her eyes shifted towards her hands.
There was a moment of silence between the two before Green spoke up first, "I understand."
Blue looked up at Green with confused eyes as Green wrapped a blanket around her, "I'll go find him"
"Wh….What" screamed Blue as her eyes opened wide with shock, "Green, that's crazy you'll…"
"Here, take this piece of paper and my cellphone" interrupted Green as he handed Blue the items, "If someone comes back, I want you to go there and call the police"
"Green… you're crazy… wait" exclaimed Blue as she tried to reach out to Green, but he had already gone out the broken glass door.
Blue watched in horror as Green's figure disappeared from her view. She tightly clenched the piece of paper in her hand and dialed the number written done.
"Professor Ivy, CALL PROFESSOR OAK," screamed Blue, "Green has gone crazy"
Green ran towards the direction he saw the car drive towards. He distinctly remembered the car model, as it was not a model many were familiar with. As he entered an intersection, he waited for the pedestrian signal, trying to catch his breath.
"Did you hear?" whispered a middle age lady to another middle aged lady, "a crazy car ran into the intersection!"
"I know, drivers are so crazy today!" responded the other middle aged lady
"I know, the direction it was heading was towards the harbor"
"The harbor! There's nothing but storage rooms and no good hoodlums there"
Green didn't have to guess to figure out what they were talking about and deducted that that was where the loan sharks headquarters were. As soon as the pedestrian signal changed lights, he ran towards the direction of the harbor. By the time Green had reached the harbor, the sun was setting and it was getting darker and darker.
The harbor was extremely eerie with multiple rusted down metal storage facilities and Green could tell why "hoodlums" would easily consider it their hangout spots. Due to the small amount of city lights within the area, it gave off a dark and spooky vibe.
Green quickly ignored the vibe that the harbor was giving him and proceeded to look for signs of the loan shark cars. He quietly wandered around the storage facilities, looking for any clues that might have given away the loan sharks hideout. As he quietly walked around in the shadows, he heard two men talking in a dark alleyway.
"The boss said we give the girl 1 day to get the amount before we take her" said one man
"Heh, she couldn't possible get that amount in one day" responded the other.
"She was pretty cute though, who knows, the boss wouldn't mind to let one of us take a whack with her!" roared the other man.
"Ha! I didn't know you were into that…"
Before the men could continue, Green had knocked both of them out with a piece of metal scrap he found nearby.
"You two piece of trash" he mumbled, but his words fell onto deaf ears and he quickly entered the door they were guarding.
"Please! Please! Spare my life" cried Blue's stepfather.
Green quickly hid behind some nearby boxes the minute he heard Blue's stepfather's voice. He quietly poked his head to witness the scene nearby. There was about three men surrounding Blue's stepfather with three metal baseball bats within their hand. Blue stepfather was beaten and battered, his face swollen from the beatings and dried blood clung to his bottom lip.
"Then I want my $50,000 back by today!" screamed another man sitting in a chair.
Green deducted that this was the man in charge and that the other three men were his lackeys.
"But that's impossible! Where can I get that money in such a short…"
Before he could finish, one of the lackeys slammed the bat into the older man's back, causing him to spit out drops of blood. The man in the chair merely watched with a sadistic smile as the older man quivered in fear before he stood up and grabbed the man by the shirt.
"Now, now" smiled the man in charge, "I've been so patient and kind to you these past few years. Don't you think it's about time you pay back my kindness?"
Blue's stepfather shivered as he stared into the head man's soulless eyes. As he embraced himself for another impact, one of the lackeys feel to the ground.
"Dylan! What is going on here!?" yelled the head man.
"I don't know Boss, he just…."
Before the other man could respond, he feel to the ground in a similar fashion as the previous man. At that point, the head man knew that they were being watched.
"We have a little visitor boys" smirked the head man as he calmly sat back down in his seat. The following lackey stood on guard with the baseball in his hand as two more men came out from behind the boxes. Green was hiding behind some barrels with the metal rod in his hand. He was surprised that the two lackeys hadn't noticed his presence but was contemplating how to get even closer. As he saw a couple of boxes closer to the group of men, he felt a pair of hands grab his shoulders.
"Why, looks like we have a little rat within our grasps" said the man as he pulled Green towards the group.
The man continue to push Green into the middle of the group, but Green had faster reflexes and kicked the man in the face. The other men became alarmed and lunged forward at Green while the head man simply smirked.
The men swung their bats at Green, as Green carefully dodged their attacks. Green knew that the men weren't that smart as they were simply swinging their bats at a repetitive pattern, making it easier for him to dodge them. As one of men swung their bats, Green caught the bat, shocking the man, allowing Green to kick the man in the chest and steal his bat. Now armed with a weapon, Green continued to swing the bat at the other man. The third lackey attempted to surprise Green from the behind, but Green had caught hold of his presence and smashed the bat backwards into the man's stomach. The last lackey was startled, but didn't back down and continued to hold his stance as he charged towards Green. Green simply stood in place, confusing the man, but was able to bash his right elbow into the man's upper back. With all the lackeys down, Green gave a death glare at the head man. The head man simply smiled, obviously not concerned by his current position, and raised his hand, trying to taunt Green.
Green could feel his anger raise, but was careful not to fall into his trap. The head man looked at Green, understanding that he was smarter than most people his age, and dropped his smile. The head man stood up from his chair and pulled out a gun and aimed it at Green. Green was startled and lowered the bat. The head man simply smiled and quickly aimed the gun at Blue's stepfather. The old man quivered and begged for his life before the head man shot him.
There was a moment of silence before Green heard the older man moan in pain. Green watched in horror as the head man turned his attention towards him. Beats of sweat fell down Green's face, but his face showed no signs of panic. The head man gave Green a smirk as he eyed his prey. At this point Green eyed his opponent and carefully coming up with plan, but the head man was quicker. The head man whistled, startling Green, as more lackeys popped out from behind the boxes and barrels. The head man smiled and the lackeys started to lunge at Green. Grabbing the bat that he had set down, Green started to attack the lackeys. One by one they started to gang up on him, the more Green fought back, the more they attacked him. Soon he could feel his body tire from the punches and beatings, but Green still wasn't losing as he took out a couple of more lackeys.
As Green beat up the rest of lackeys, a small blue bag slipped out of the lackey's suit. Green realized that it was Blue's mother's memento and quickly grabbed it, but was struck in the back. He feel down in pain and saw more lackeys approach him. Green glared at the head man before covering his body from the kicks of the lackeys. By the time the lackeys were done, Green was also moaning in pain. The head man approached him, smiled and aimed the gun at Green. Two shots were fired and Green could feel his body grow warm as he felt liquid ooze out of him. He heard the head man laugh before hearing shouts from the other lackeys. Green's vision started to blur and he could see figures running away from him and more blurry figures approaching him. His eyes started to close before he heard someone shout out his name, and soon everything turned black and cold.
That was the LONGEST chapter of I Like You More than Anything. Hopefully, this makes up for the lack of updates. The final chapter is upon us.
So lately I have been in a writing mood, so who knows, I Like You More than Anything will probably be finished by the end of this month! (No guarantees, but I'm 90% sure I will have this complete by the end of September) I'm so sorry for the lack of updates because a lot of personal things have been going on in my life and my files for this fanfiction disappeared, so I essentially had to start from scratch, but I hope that this chapter has suffice for the lack of updates.
I would like to thank everyone for the support and reviews, you guys are the best fans and I hope you also check out my other stories! Thank you and don't forget to Review and give me your comments.
