Chapter 8
I ran through the forest after having a quick breakfast of a squirrel, a chipmunk, and a field mouse. I was going to find Link. Odds of him surviving alone out here are slim. I jumped the fence around the back of the temple and caught his scent. It was fresh, he was here recently. I followed his smell to the entrance of the temple. The door was wide open. Oh no. He went in there!
I whined in distress and went in after him. It was easy to track him. Every door along his scent trail was unlocked. I just forced my snout under the door and slid underneath the crushing weight of each door. It was becoming tiring. I ran into a large room and his scent became all jumbled up. Ah! Dangit! There's water in here! That always messes with scents. It spreads them and/or erases them. I also smelt bokoblin in here. I followed the sloppy scent trail to the edge of a platform and looked down. A green bokoblin corpse was floating in the water.
Okay. Good. At least it was dead. That kid could fare better than I thought. I resumed trying to piece together Link's scrambled scent trail. It led to different doors. His scent was everywhere! How was I supposed to find him?! Then I noticed that the door across from me still had a lock on it. Perfect! I'll just wait here for him! He couldn't have gone any further. I laid down and waited patiently. About three minutes later, Link walked out of a room as I anticipated. I jumped up with my tail wagging in excitement.
"Grarf!" I barked at him.
He turned to face me in surprise and took out his sword. My tail tucked between my legs in fright and I took a step back.
"Master Link, it appears the shape-shifting girl has arrived to aide you." I heard Fi explain to him.
"Oh." Link breathed a sigh of relief and put his sword away.
My tail un-tucked and I trotted toward him happily.
"Hey, Evenya!" He laughed and patted my head.
I licked his hand in response.
"Ew." He grimaced and wiped his hand off.
His hand tasted like spider guts. Gross. But it was also delightfully salty. EW THAT'S SWEAT! WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?!
"Well, I finally got the key to that door! And a very disheartening map. I don't know why I thought Zelda would be behind that chained door," He frowned and jumped onto a log, and then onto some vines with which he climbed up to the door.
I followed, but just jumped clear over the log and landed in front of the door.
"Show off." Link grumbled.
I lolled my tongue out with goofy wolf grin in reply. He unlocked the door and all the chains surrounding the door fell. Then we eagerly ran through the door. What awaited us was a big-ass room. Keese fluttered around a big column thing in the middle of the room. Skulltulas dangled from their strands of silk, waiting to prey on whatever walked beneath them. Oh gods. This is hell, isn't it?
I whined and my ears drooped in disappointment. Darn I honestly expected something easier. No fair!
"Well," Link gulped and patted my head, "At least it's not that hard."
I glared up at him and growled. He immediately stopped petting me and looked scared. Then I licked his hand in apology.
"Ew." he grimaced and wiped it off on his pants again. I need to remember to stop that
This whole place was chock full of stupidness. Like evil skeletons that pop up and try to cut your face off. And skulltulas hanging from the ceiling that drop down on you out of nowhere. It took forever, but we finally made it to a huge set of double doors.
"Uh oh, looks like we need a key." Link sighed.
I whined and sat down on the floor. I was too tired to do anything else.
"I'll go find it, you can rest." he smiled and rubbed behind my ears.
I dropped my head to the ground and napped contently. I was woken by the sound of the large double doors opening. I got to my feet right as Link walked inside. Just as I was walking in with him, the doors shut in my face!
I began to panic and bark in distress. I could hear loud noises coming from inside the room. And a voice... Ghirahim's voice! I began barking and scratching at the door, but it wouldn't open. I tried to see if I could turn into a mouse and slide underneath, but the door fit snugly into the wall. I had no choice but to sit here and wait.
I laid down in front of the door sadly and waited. I got hungry, and decided to go find something to eat. A keese swooped down and began attacking me out of nowhere. I snatched it out of the air and shook it around until it was dead. Then I devoured it hungrily. I felt a bit better after that snack and went back to waiting.
I could hear a fight going on inside, then it was silent. I whined anxiously. Could Ghirahim have killed him?! No, I didn't smell much blood. And Ghirahim has a gross fetish with it. I sat as patiently as I could, but I began to get scared. What if he never comes back out?! I felt like crying and began to whimper.
But the doors opened and there he was. I practically attacked him with happiness and he fell over. He took way too long to get out here! I'm going to bite him for that later! But now I'm just gonna lick the crap out of his face!
"AH! AH! GROSS! GET OFF! STOP!" he struggled not to get slobber in his mouth.
I finally pulled myself off of him and let him stand back up. I barked at him and ran around excitedly to release my pent up energy. Then I tired out and we finally left the temple.
MEEP! THAT IS ALL! Short chapter is short... I'M GOING TO POST A NEW CHAPTER OF SAATB NEXT! :D I forgot how much I loved writing it. MERRY CHRISTMAS! :3
