A. to anyone who's still with me... I am so sorry, please feel free to bitch and moan to your hearts content cause I have been awful to you guys, gosh it's been like 2 weeks, more?I was planning on posting this on Tuesday but then a lot of stuff happened so... Anyway I know exactly what I want to write and how this story will turn out, it's just getting to time to write it, so from now on instead of trying to update once a week like I was almost doing, I'm gonna try and stick to every 1-2 weeks. That means if I don't update within the next 2 days of posting a chapter then there will be a wait of 2 weeks at the most. Deal? It's kinda the most I can manage at this time, anyway sorry again.
Caroline and Klaus could only stare at each other in shock.
Caroline was not expecting herself to reveal her biggest secret, especially to the man that she had been trying to hide it from.
Klaus was not expecting her to say that.
I mean, yeah, sure he'd been going after he for a while now, and he knew that she knew how he felt about her... But there was no way on earth he expected her to return those feelings.
Kol was very pleased with himself.
He was in the perfect position to embarrass both Klaus and Caroline and he had blackmail material to use on the pair.
"Oh please continue, I'm not even here." He laughed.
Klaus turned to his brother and growled.
"You even think of mentioning this to anyone, that dagger will be back in your chest before you can blink."
"Please brother, if that dagger goes anywhere near me I will be letting the whole world know your little soft spot. Just think what everyone will say!" Kol replied smoothly.
"Well then I suppose il just have to kill all of those people too!" Klaus retaliated.
Caroline exploded.
"You see! This is why I cold never act on even the slightest of feelings! Everything you do is either killing people or destroying their lives!" She cried.
Klaus looked over to a clearly distraught Caroline.
"Love, you should have known that you can't hide your feelings forever." He slightly smirked.
"No but I can attempt to make them go away!" She snapped back.
Klaus momentarily looked hurt and Caroline's expression softened.
"Klaus I'm,.."
"No." He interrupted.
"It's fine, I understand. You don't need to explain to me how someone so pure and good doesn't deserve someone, well, someone like me. But just to be clear Caroline. I would do anything in and out of my power to ensure your safety, even if it means killing everyone you love and care about." He finished, before speeding off not the woods.
Caroline turned to Kol, with a confused look on her face.
"I don't understand." She said.
The original sighed.
He had a feeling Klaus would rather have him leave it but he felt compelled to explain to the girl in front of him.
"Klaus is a very odd person." Kol started uncertainly.
"Look, let's just say that there's a reason Klaus has kept all family at a distance for most of his life." He said.
Caroline looked at him waiting for an explanation.
"Okay so how long has Klaus been around? How much of an ass is he? How many people do you think he's pissed off?" Kol asked.
"So imagine your one of his enemies, and he has hurt you or your loved ones in some way. What would you do?"
Suddenly it clicked.
"I'd want to hurt someone he loved, oh god he doesn't want me getting hurt." Caroline realised aloud.
"Exactly." Kol stated, satisfied that he had gotten his point across.
"Oh god! I feel terrible, I have to go find him." She said running back to the tent.
Back at the tent Klaus sat patiently waiting for everyone to return so that he could get his blood and be gone.
His mind couldn't help but drift back to Caroline.
Had he been too harsh?
He wanted more than anything for her to understand why he could never really be with her, but he felt so guilty.
He looked up, sensing someone heading towards the tent and in rushed Caroline.
She rushed towards him and said "I'm sorry." Before throwing herself into his arms and kissing him.
Klaus felt her in his arms and it felt right, he body moulded and lips moving against his.
This was how it was meant to be.
When he pulled away she was smiling a happy, radiant smile.
"I understand now, Kol helped me to and I'm so sorry for how I reacted. I can take care of myself, I swear. I mean, Elena would flip out like she did with Bekah and Stefan but I suppose we cold keep it a secret. Klaus, please. I just want to be with you." She whimpered.
Klaus looked down at her affectionately.
"Love, there is nothing that I would love more than to be with you and if keeping it a secret is what will make you happy then that is fine with me. I suppose that no one knowing about us would put you in any immediate danger..." He trailed off.
"I feel safe in your arms."Caroline whispered.
Klaus pulled her closer and she nestled her face in the crook of his neck.
"We can make it work." She said.
At that moment the pair heard giggling heading towards the tent and walked out to see a drunken Bonnie being carried towards the tent by an affectionate Elijah.
"We got found, Rebekah said we were the first." Elijah explained looking at the pair with a questioning look.
"Caroline got sick of Myself and Kol bickering and came back so I followed her." Klaus explained smoothly.
Elijah looked thoughtful for a moment and looked at a flushed Caroline before deciding to accept that as an answer.
"How did they find you?" Caroline asked.
"Someone" Elijah started giving Bonnie a pointed look. "Could not keep quiete in her intoxicated state."
Bonnie giggled again before climbing only a camp bed and closing her eyes.
Moments later she was snoring lightly.
Klaus left the tent saying he was going to find Kol and Caroline turned to Elijah.
"I know you like her and from what I've seen she likes you too, but know that if you ever hurt her, original or not, I will find a way to make your life hell.
Elijah looked at the blonde admiringly.
"Believe me miss Forbes I have no intention of letting Bonnie get hurt every again. I also wish to let you know hat Niklaus pretends that he doesn't hurt but he does. So if you hurt him I'd watch your back." He replied.
Caroline blushed.
"How did you know?" She asked.
Elijah smiled warmly.
"I just did, and don't worry I have no intention of telling anyone. Your secret is safe with me."
With that Rebekah and Stefan returned hand in hand chatting to Kol with a silent and slightly awkward Klaus and Damon and Elena trailing behind.
"Okay, klaus explained, Bonnie and Elijah are it." Rebekah said.
"I think the games are over Rebekah." Elijah said gesturing to a passed out Bonnie.
"What happened?" Gasped Elena turning to glare at Elijah.
"The effects of alcohol." Explained Caroline from behind him.
"Oh, sorry." Said Elena sheepishly.
"I think it's time for bed." Said Stefan.
Caroline looked at the three bedroom pods.
"How are we gonna do this?" She asked.
Damon and Elena looked between each other awkwardly.
"Erm, Elena and I won't be sharing a pod tonight." Explained Damon.
Nobody looked surprised.
"I think it's best if we all stay in the main area, i mean there are plenty of blankets, pillows and camp beds to go round." Said Stefan.
Everyone agreed that they were all very sleepy and decided to go with Stefan's plan.
Once everyone had fallen asleep Caroline heard the shuffling of someone leaving the tent.
Deciding to see who it was and what was wrong she followed them outside, only to find the most heart wrenching sight in front of her...
A.N. Ohhh, cliff hanger... What could the sight possibly be ;) please review xxx
