AN: Hey everyone! Sorry this took longer then I thought it would. The last couple months have been horrible. First my grandmother died, then we had to put one of our dogs to sleep, and my cousin's daughter died. It's just been a never ending cycle of bad news. So I had been with my family this whole time. I hope you all understand. My family is doing better now, so hopefully I can write more often again.
Now to reply to reviews.
Xsphinxslady: thank you, glad you're enjoying it so far! I'm planning to eventually make the series a Sookie/Loki/Eric fanfic, so yes there will be some three way action happening.
lostaloneNY: I hope you'll be excited when you get the email for this chapter. Thank you for your kind words.
kvdsouza: wow thanks! It means a lot to hear a reader say something like that.
Also thank you everyone for your kind words. It was hard on our family, but we are healing.
As a side note, I'm working diligently on the new chapter of Own Me so look forward to that soon.
Loki watched as chaos fell over the city of New York from the top floor of Stark Tower. The Tesseract worked like a charm as swarms of Chitari flew from the portal it created. Yes, everything was going according to plan...
Except for the reluctance of his future Queen, that is.
The god still couldn't understand why his faery didn't accept his proposal. Why couldn't she see that his plan was for the best? Midgaurd was in shambles and needed a King to fix it.
'My faery is just to soft of heart.' Loki thought to himself, 'Once she sees my improvements she'll come around to my way of thinking.'
A crash to the side brought Loki's attention back to the present. When he looked towards the sound of the noise, he saw a fallen Chitari vessel and Thor standing by it, mjӧlnir in hand.
"Thor, so glad you survived the fall. You're just in time to see me conquer your beloved Midgaurd." Loki smirked.
The god of thunder faced off with the god of trickery. His face contorted with anger.
"Where is Lady Sookie, brother?" Thor demanded.
"She's safe." Loki replied, "And as I have said before: none of your concern."
"What have you done to her, Loki!?"
"Nothing that she didn't enjoy as well." Loki smirked making Thor glare, "I plan to send for her once I level this fair city to the ground."
Thor snarled and charged after Loki, his hammer slamming into his scepter. The two faced off atop of the tower as the war continued to rage on around them.
At least Sookie wasn't here to see this. Loki knew she cared for Thor, so his death would hurt her.
For a brief second during their battle, Loki wondered what Sookie was doing while all this happened.
Sookie slammed one of the chairs against the window of her room with a cry of frustration, hoping to break the glass and escape. It was all in vain however. If the glass cracked, if would simply repair it's self soon after.
The telepath had been at this for awhile now, but everything she tried seemed to just backfire on her. The window wouldn't budge or break. She even tried to put out the fire so she could go up chimney, but the irritating thing simply lit it's self back up like those trick candles that some people put on birthday cakes.
'Freaken highhanded magical bastard.' Sookie growled in her mind.
With a groan, the telepath lay back on the bed. What was she suppose to do? If she didn't get to New York soon, Loki would take over the world and make her his Queen. She cared about the god, but she didn't want any of this.
She needed to get out of here...
Suddenly there was a knock on the door.
"My lady, are you hurt?" It was a man's voice, "I heard you groan."
Sookie rolled her eyes at 'my lady'. Loki must have told them to call her that.
'Wait a minute...' A idea suddenly came to Sookie's mind.
"I-I think I twisted my ankle." She called out trying to sound like she was in pain.
A man came in. He had a dazed look on his face and not a single thought in his head. Obviously Loki was controlling him.
Sookie continued to look pained as the man came over, kneeling down to check her ankle. Quickly, Sookie grabbed the lamp off the nightstand and slammed it on top of his head, the man falling to the floor.
"Sorry about that, no hard feelings."
Sookie then quickly stood up, picking up her long dress skirt as she took off through the opened door. Apparently only her room looked like a cabin. Everything else looked like a military base.
The telepath quickly rushed down the corridors, trying to find a car, or a jet even. Sure she didn't know how to fly one, but she would figure it out as good as she could. She then took a wrong turn into what seemed to be the operations room since there was a bunch on monitors and mind controlled men.
All of the men stopped in their tracks and looked towards her. Sookie was about to turn and run the other way, but one of the men caught her.
"My lady, we were given orders to make sure you stayed in your room."
There went Sookie's one chance. It was looking grim now, as the guy held onto her arm and lead her back to her room.
On the way there, the guard Sookie had bludgeoned was coming towards them, rubbing the back of his head.
"I'll take her highness back to her room." He told the guard holding her arm.
"No, you failed. I'll take-" The guard began to say, but the other guard rushed up to him and punched him in the stomach, before pulling his head into his knee, knocking the guard out.
Sookie stood there in shock.
"We don't have much time, we gotta go." He spoke to Sookie as he took the knocked out guard's gun and handed it to Sookie, "You know how to use one of these?"
"Yes," Natasha had taught her in fact, "But why should I trust you? Just a few minutes ago you were one of Loki's zombies."
"When you hit me on the head I came to my senses." The guard explained as he lead her to the weapons room. Grabbing a case from the wall. Opening it up, he pulled out a fancy looking bow and picked up a high tech looking quiver. Then he looked back at her, "The name's Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye, I work for S.H.E.I.L.D."
Sookie remembered the name. Natasha often thought of him.
Hawkeye continued to speak as he lead Sookie to the hanger, "I don't remember much, but I vaguely remember taking you from the hover carrier. I assume you work for S.H.E.I.L.D.?"
"Sorta. You could say I'm a consultant I guess."
Clint raised an eyebrow, but then shrugged as he hugged the wall at the entrance to their destination. There were about five armed men. Two were preparing a jet to the side.
"Alright, here's the plan. I'll sneak in and take down as many as I can. You make a break for the jet to the side."
Sookie rolled her eyes, "You're planning to kill them? Most of these men are brainwashed like you were."
"Do you have a better idea?"
"Actually... Have you watched Star Wars before?"
"This is not going to work." Clint whispered under his breath as he held Sookie's arm, leading her into the room.
"Yes it will, stop being pessimistic." Sookie muttered.
An armed guard came over to the pair, Sookie couldn't hear anything from him as well.
"Where are you going with Lady Sookie?" The guard questioned.
"The King has sent orders for his Queen to be brought to him. He demands she be there when he conquers New York." Clint tried to act emotionless. Which he succeeded to do. Sookie believed he was use to this persona. Natasha had a similar one.
"I received no such orders." The guard seemed to not be buying it.
"Are you questioning the King? I'm sure he would like to hear that you're denying him his Queen on this glorious day."
Sookie could feel her heart beating against her chest as the guard stared them down. She could count the beats even. Then after the twelfth beat the guard nodded and moved out of their way.
Once both were on the jet, they let out sighs of relief.
"I can't believe that worked. Some evil henchmen!" Clint was dumbfounded as he started the jet up.
Sookie grinned, "The force was strong in us I guess."
The hawk shot her a look before taking the jet up.
"Where to now? I should take you back to S.H.E.I.L.D. HQ..." Hawkeye began.
"No." Sookie stated firmly, making him look at her, "We have to go to New York."
"Are you crazy?"
Sookie flinched at being called crazy, she hated that word, but she knew Clint didn't mean it like that.
"I think I can stop this. I think I can get through to Loki."
"Get through to Loki? Have you met the guy? He's a psychopath!"
"No he's not!" Sookie shot him a look this time, "He's just confused. His view on life is warped, but it's not fully his fault."
Hawkeye sighed, but shook his head, "I'm taking you back to S.H.E.I.L.D."
"No!"
Sookie slammed her hand on the window of the jet, then suddenly she felt that white heat again. The jet then began shimmering before a blinding light surrounded them. When the light faded they suddenly found themselves almost flying into the Statue of Liberty. Clint quickly turned the plane to miss it.
Both now were in shock.
"What the hell was that?" Clint looked over at Sookie. "Are you Asgaurdian or something?"
"No. Fae actually." Sookie looked at her hand, "And I guess I can teleport."
"Well I guess I have no choice, but to go to New York. Are you sure you want to do this though?" He motioned to the city.
Sookie looked at the chaos before them. The city was in flames, buildings were crumbling, there were aliens everywhere, and smoke filled the skies.
The telepath had seen documentaries about war on TV before, but none of those compared to the real deal. She could hear the thoughts of the people on the ground. Some where in pain, some just witnessed a loved on die, but the fear is what hit Sookie in the gut. It felt like nothing she had ever felt before. She slammed her shields up.
Sookie felt weak. Not just from being bombarded with thoughts of fear and death. Ever since she used her light to teleport them to New York, she felt weakened. Like her energy just went down to a third. She needed to stop this thought. She wasn't going to turn back.
"Yes."
The jet landed on a hospital helicopter pad. Both exited, only to find themselves in the middle of a war zone. Buildings burning and falling down, screaming, explosions, bullets and blasts of energy flying, nothing but destruction and chaos.
There was a large blast above their heads, when they looked up one of the chitari crafts was falling right towards them, about to crash, but before it hit, a large green object jumped in front of Sookie and knocked it away.
Sookie's heart felt like it was about to beat out of her chest, but she smiled realizing who was in front of her. Hulk turned towards her, eyes full of concern.
"Thanks, Hulk."
Hulk grinned down at her, but then picked her up, quickly moving her out of the way of blast from a chitari weapon. The chitari was then knocked back by a red, white, and blue shield, before getting shot in the head by Natasha.
Steve and Natasha ran towards the group.
"Sookie, you're ok." Steve gave a sigh of relief, "We thought the worst when Loki took you."
Natasha was focusing on Clint, Sookie could hear the relief in her head that he was ok as well, but her face remained neutral.
"Why are you dressed like that though?" Steve questioned her new look.
"Never mind that, where's Loki currently?"
"Stark Tower," Natasha answered while raising an eyebrow, "Why?"
"I need to get to him."
Everyone tried to talk her out of it. That it wasn't safe and Thor was currently handling the mad god, but Sookie shook her head.
"I'm the only one who can talk him out of this. I'm sure of it."
"How can you be sure?" Natasha crossed her arms over her chest.
"Because he loves me, and I love him!"
Everyone stared at Sookie in shock.
"There I finally said it, now can someone help me get to Stark Tower so I can try and stop this madness!"
