Chapter 8
Deeks had been driving for hours, trying to clear his head so that he could think clearly. At this point he figured it would be safer for them to just go back to ops. He drove to the beach and parked, staring at the ocean.
'Keep her safe, Deeks' Callen's voice rang in his head.
'Always' He thought to himself. She told him not to leave but as he looked at her peacefully sleeping he wondered if leaving was the right thing to do. She wouldn't have to worry about him, slow down for him or even think of his name.
'But I can't just leave her in the car. They could show up at any minute. Maybe I should bring her back to ops and leave her there. Callen and Sam can protect her' he thought, 'but I said I would never leaver her. But I have to protect her. She is the one thing in this world I don't want to live without.'
He got out of the car and sat on the hood of the car. He needed to hear the sound of the waves and smell the ocean.
She woke up not to long after; she sat up and looked out at him. She knows he's on the verge of leaving her. She could always read him like an open book. He always made sense to her. All that talk of never saying what he meant was actually that she knew what he was saying, she just wanted to hear him say it. She tapped on the windshield and he turned to smile at her.
He got back in the car and said, "Morning, Sunshine"
"Morning," she smiled.
He gazed at her, "I love that smile"
She smiled more and looked down, "Why don't we get a hotel room so you can sleep."
"I saw a hotel just up the road. Reasonably priced." He said moving the hair out of her face.
"Let's go then" she sat up.
They put their stuff in the room and lay on the bed. Kensi put her head on his chest as he lay on his back. She could hear his heartbeat, feel his every breath, this was the most intimate moment they have ever had. However, she could hear every noise that arose from his stomach. She smiled, "I'm running to the store to get some food"
"I'll go" Deeks said in a tired voice.
"Shhh, rest. I'll be back in ten minutes" but Deeks had already fallen asleep.
She grabbed her coat and took the stairs to the lobby. She watched everyone she passed, but everyone seemed to be doing something productive. But little did she know, there were two Abushiri members passing by her on their way into the hotel. They didn't notice her, luckily, but they sat in the lobby and waited.
Back in the room, Deeks had felt Kensi's absence and woke up, 'This is the perfect time to go' he thought, 'She'll see that I'm gone, call Callen and be safe in no time. This is the best way to protect her.' Not thinking, Deeks left all of his clothes in the room. He took the elevator down to the lobby.
The Abushiri, however, were tired of waiting. They saw Deeks enter the lobby and almost took him. But they remembered their orders to get the girl first. They will get more information that way. So, after Deeks had left, they asked the desk clerk for the room number of Kensi and Deeks. They posed as FBI agents and got what they wanted. When they arrived to the door, they let their selves in. No one was there. They needed to take Kensi easily, and without a trace so they called their boss who gave them strict instructions for the plan. They took one of Deeks' shirts, cut their hands to make the shirt bloody and put it on the floor. They staged a scene that look like they had taken Deeks. They left a note that said; "If you want to see Mart Deeks again, you will come to this address by 3:00 pm today" They left an address for an old warehouse at the bottom of the note and left the door slightly open. They left quickly and went to the warehouse.
Kensi, not too long after arrived back at the hotel with coffee and food. She took the elevator this time to her floor and walked quickly to her room. She saw the door was open and could see blood through the crack. She dropped the coffee and food, drew her gun and kicked the door open. She checked every room; no one was around. She went back to the main room where she saw the blood and saw Deeks' shirt. She read the note that was next to it, fighting back the tears. 'He's gone. They took him.'
She put the address on the note in her phone and quickly walked out of the hotel. She followed her GPS to the address, but it was going to take her over and hour to get there.
Meanwhile Deeks had walked about 20 blocks east of the hotel when he stopped cold, 'what am I doing' he thought 'I shouldn't have left her that vulnerable.' He sprinted back to the hotel, fearing the Abushiri had found her. He ran into the hotel and up the stairs and into his room. The door was left wide open; he saw his shirt on the floor. The blood drained from his face, fearing it was her blood, and fell to his knees. He put his head in his hands and let the tears spill out of his eyes. He looked up at the ceiling and back down to the floor. He found the note, and realized quickly that it was a trap for Kensi. He knew she would go there without any hesitation. He ran out of the hotel, hoping she had left the car. She did. He quickly got into the car and started driving to ops. He pulled out his burner and dialed quickly.
"Hello?"
"Callen. We have a problem."
Thank you guys for being so patient with me! I've been very busy, but I think the story should be moving along a little bit faster now. Let me know if something is confusing! Thanks again- Tori.
