Vriska

Skaia is so beautiful. I watch it every night out my small window. Seeing how bright it always is, and how calm and peaceful it is. It makes me sad. I know I'll never be able to be there, so it's a small sadness, but a sadness nonetheless.

I hear a shuffle in Equius' cell. I turn and see him sitting in front of the bars separating us.

"Are you alright?" he asks quietly.

"No..." I say, hugging my knees.

"Me neither. Would you like a song?"

Equius always sings to me when I feel sad. His voice is usually pretty low, but his singing vocal range is very wide.

I nod to him and lay on my side, pressing my cheek to the cold ground.

Equius begins to sing, softly breaking the silence of the sad reality we call life. He sings a song I love to hear, and a song that makes me cry. Hallelujah.

I listen to him sing, slowly falling asleep to his voice.

But a loud clang jolts me awake, and I sit up, Equius stops singing, and there are guards everywhere.

They scream and yell, and soon their voices cut off. No one speaks as a beat of silence passes, then someone walks in front of my cell, cloaked in darkness that covers their face. But their horns... I know who this Troll is...

"Vriska." she says, opening my cell.

I get up fast and run to her, hugging her.

"A-Aradia..." I say, my voice too weak.

"Aradia!" Equius says, now at the front of his cell.

"We're leaving." Aradia says, holding me close.

"Really?" I lean back and look her in the eyes.

"Really." She smiles, moving to open Equius' cell. "You're all coming with me."

"Don't forget Tavros." I remind her.

"Of course. You will have to carry him, if you can."

"I can't..."

"I will." Equius says, already moving to get Tavros from his cell.

"Where are we going?" I ask.

"Skaia."

At first I don't react. I don't believe her. I can't. I mean how could I believe her? I've spent my whole life in a cell. I dreamed of going to Skaia, sure, but I never actually thought that one day I would.

But I start to believe her once we leave. I look around at the dead guards and the broken windows. It's chaos, but we leave it soon enough.

Aradia helps me into a small pod that I assume she came here in, helps Equius strap the unconscious Tavros into the seat next to me, and then we're off.

The ride is bumpy, but I sleep through it. I dream, for the first time in months, about seeing Prospit from Skaia. And flipping it off.

I wake up in the strangest place I have ever seen.

I sit up, blinking through blurry sight, looking around.

I'm in a room by myself. The bed I'm laying in is fluffy and colorful. The covers are quilted, with dark and pale red colors, checkered with black and white, and the most fluffy thing I have ever felt. The pillows feel the same, extremely fluffy, and there are lots of them.

The curtains flutter in the small breeze that blows through the room, the windows open. The curtains are light red, and grey, flowing lazily.

The room itself is all different shades of red and black.

The weirdest thing about the room, and wherever I am, is that it's light. There is a sun shining in through the open window, and it's brighter than I've ever seen.

"Oh, you're up." I hear someone say. I turn my head and look Aradia in the eyes.

"Aradia..." I say, my voice small and tired. "Where am I?"

"Skaia." She crosses the room to the window, drawing the curtains apart and throwing the doors open farther.

I get up and stand next to her, my legs weak.

I audibly gasp at the sight. The rolling hills, the bright sky, the fluffy white clouds, and the clear water of the river flowing along the edge of the hill this house must be on.

"Vriska, what's wrong?" Aradia asks, turning to me.

"Huh?" I hadn't realized that tears had begun streaming down my cheeks, sheerly at the beauty of the place before me.

Then I begin to laugh.

Aradia looks surprised and confused, but I wave it off.

"It's just so..." I pause, catching my breath. "Beautiful."

Author's Notes

This chapter is a bit of a filler chapter. Mostly filler, but it's also important that I say that Aradia isn't just breaking them out for the hell of it, she was on a mission. I could tell you what kind of mission, but you're about to find out in the next chapter so don't worry.

Perhaps I'll do a chapter in Aradia's POV so that we get some background, but for now, I need to work on the next chapter.
