Brooke POV

"Are you sure Peyt? You don't have to do this today baby. We can wait. They'll understand if you aren't ready."

She shook her head before I could go on. She was ready for this. She was so determined to do it today. I on the other hand, wasn't so ready. Even if I had told our friends about what had happened, her remedying them would just make it more real. I was so worried something would go wrong. She'd get over stressed, they'd say something to upset her, they'd find out my secret and tell her the truth. No, I couldn't think like that. Everything was gonna be fine.

Trying to silence the torrent of thought in my mind, I glanced back down to meet Peyton's gaze. I could see the excitement there. Sighing, I knew there was no way I'd be able to tell her no. She really wanted to do this, and I'd never stop her from going for what she wants. Not if it will make her happy. I'll just sit by her side and support her. And besides, Nathan and Haley are our friends. They aren't out to hurt her, so I really shouldn't be so worried about this. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

I feel her warm handle wrap around my own that's sitting on the handle if her wheelchair. It brings me back to focus in on reality. I blink a couple of times and focus on her face. She tilts her head and shoots a small smile my way. I can read it in her eyes "it's gonna be okay. I'm gonna be okay. I'm a big girl." I can practically hear her telling me. I try to muster up a smile of my own but fail to make it sincere.

Not wanting her to dig too deep into it, i turn my attention back to the bathroom mirror we are both currently in front of. "So, how do you want your hair? Curly, straight? I could probably manage to tame what you have going on right now into some really pretty waves." I run my hands through the loose curls her hair naturally falls into. She stares at the mirror for a minute before moving one hand up. She winds one strand of hair around her finger and gently lets it go, looking up to meet my gaze through our reflexion.

I nod at her, "curly it is. You know, I think some bigger curls, away from the face would look really good. Especially in this dress. What do you think baby?"

I see her nod, another bright smile on her face. Bending down to collect the curler and a couple of different hair sprays, I set to work. If she was certain she wanted to do this, then I'd make damn sure she felt as beautiful as she looked for it. After all, every bit of confidence helps...

Time skip...

Peyton and I were relaxing on the couch waiting for the Naley team to arrive. She had wanted to be out of the wheelchair as much as possible during their visit. I had fought her on it at first, but we made a deal that she could, as long as she stayed sitting down and used it for when she had to move. I was still leery about her moving positions too much, but she was getting better and less painful. Her good leg was finally not so sore so she was able to stand on it some to help move in and out of her wheelchair.

I glanced down at her as she laid cuddled up into my side. She was dozing off a little, her excitement wearing her out a little. Plus the medicine she had to take daily for her injuries always made her a little drowsy. I pulled her just a little closer to me. "Beautiful," I mumbled out. It was just enough to catch her attention, and she lazily looked up to me, one eyebrow raised.

I moved the arm that wasn't around her waist to rest my palm against her cheek. She cuddled into it, evergreen eyes half lidded in content. "You're beautiful. I love you baby, you know that? And I'm right here if you need me." She nodded and leaned up to kiss my lips lightly. Before she had a chance to nuzzle back into my neck, the doorbell went off. "Coming!" I hollered before slowly moving out from under Peyton. I helped her rest back against the couch cushion before giving her the once over. I fussed with her curls for a moment before moving to smooth out her dress as well as I could with her sitting down. She stopped me by cupping my face in her fingertips and kissing my forehead. Her eyes were calm, spreading the feeling to me. I too kea breath, stealing one last glance at her.

Beautiful low lighted golden curls moved away from her face, framing it. The subtle make up only brought out her naturally beautiful features even more. The yellow sun dress gave her a glow, making her look younger and since it only came down to her knees, it was light and airy. Even all prettied up, I was worried about her being comfortable. I hand picked this dress from my own collection for that very reason, knowing it would be absolutely perfect on my blonde.

Finally moving towards the door, I fixed myself up too. After patting down my already perfectly straight hair one more time, I swung the door open to greet the other couple.

"Brooke!" Haley exclaimed, leaning forward to hug me. Nathan gave a tight smile before walking into the house behind his wife. I led them into the living room. Peyton's eyes opened and she leaned up, huge smile on her gorgeous face. I gave her one last reassuring smile before our friends came into her view. "Peyton, Haley and Nathan are here." I announce, trying to help the names stick for her. She had already expressed to me that she was worried about not remembering names and hurting someone's feelings.

Haley stepped forward first. I watched as she froze in between where I stood with Nathan and where Peyton sat.

"Hi, Peyton..." I couldn't see her face, but I could tell by her voice that she was fighting back tears. Peyton lifted her hand to shyly wave. We all stayed like this for a moment, uncertainty almost palpable in the air. Then Peyton made the first move, and me extremely proud of her. She opened her arms and smiled at Haley. I eyed them as our friend rushed forward to hold Peyton in her arms as they hugged each other. I could hear Haley from across the room as she moved to sit next to Peyton, still hold her good hand.

"Peyton, god! I've missed you so much! We have all been so worried about you!" Peyton had an apologetic look on her face as she mouthed something. She removed her hand from Haley's to pat her knee. My nerves hit again, but I was relieved to see Haley just nod her head and go along with Peyton. I sighed, thankful she had remembered to not point out the lack of words to Peyton. I moved to sit on the other side of my secret girlfriend, Nathan following behind me. She glanced my way as I sat down before Nate grabbed up her attention.

Having no reserves, he reached out to embrace my favorite blond. She smiled and returned the favor. "Sawyer, it's good to see you." His voice was thick and when he leaned back and stared at her. I could see a lone tear escape his eye, which Peyton's face scrunched at. She reached and and brushed it away. Haley and I watched the two old best friends reunite, not so hostilely this time. Neither of us were uncomfortable with how close they were. Peyton broke the serious air though by messing up Nathan's hair. We all laughed some.

"Yea, yea Sawyer, I know. Haley says I need to cut it too."

He laughed and moved to sit in the armchair.

We carried on like that for awhile, just catching up. Nate and Haley were both very mindful and only asked yes or no questions, but never once seemed to be treating Peyton any different. I couldn't be happier with how things had went. Peyton had come to be very comfortable with her old friends. She had even allowed Nathan to carry her over to the dinner table and then to bed before they left, still avoiding using her wheelchair around her 'new' friends. The only bump tonight had been when Peyton had leaned over to me at the dinner table to give me a kiss. Without thinking, I had kissed back and then dove right back into the conversation I had been having with Nathan.

It wasn't until I noticed the odd looks Haley and Nathan were shooting at us that I realized what had just happened. I tried not to freak out and stay calm and carry on. It's not like Peyton knew anything was wrong with doing such things in front of everyone, so she just carried on happy as a clam. Just a few seconds passed before Naley shared a look and seemed to carry on as if nothing new had happened. They didn't even react after we shared more kisses, or had cuddled together after dinner on the couch.

After a few hours had passed, the two had stated that they needed to get home to relieve the babysitter. After telling Peyton all about Jamie, they had promised to bring him around next time so she could meet him. I was more than happy to see her so excited and relaxed. We had parted ways and Peyton and I cuddled in the bed after I helped her switch into a nightgown and settle in for the night, getting into my own pjs along the way.

She sighed against my neck as I held her to me, playing with her curls. "You okay?"

She nods into my neck, kissing my collar bone lightly.

"Did you have fun?" Another nod. "So you like them? You'd be comfortable seeing them again and getting to know them?"

This time she leans up to rest her forehead to mine, humming a yes.

"Good, I'm glad you're happy." I tell her in a raspy whisper.

She leans down to kiss me again before nuzzling into my neck again, this time settling down for sleep. I can feel her lips move against my skin, and I actually immediately recognize what. She's saying, having felt her mumble the same words into my skin many times over the years of our friendship.

"I love you too Peyt."

Oooooooooooooo

Hope y'all liked it! Next up, Luke, but will his reunion with the blonde that he used to hold such strong feelings for be nearly as easy going as Naleys? Wait and see!
