Chapter 8
"You haven't text me all this week, you haven't looked at me," Chloe told her. "Not since I kissed you," Beca's stomach flipped, face flushed and she kept walking through the abandoned building. "I've been thinking about it, Beca, what if it wasn't an accident?"
Beca stopped dead in her tracks, taking a deep breath and contemplating whether she should turn to face her friend. She mulled it over quickly, not having time to come to her senses alone and figure it out. Chloe's footsteps on the concrete floor became louder, and soon, the older woman was standing right behind Beca. In the three seconds Beca had convinced herself to turn, hurried footsteps echoed around the abandoned room.
"Beca, Chloe?" Aubrey questioned, her breathing faster than usual. Beca thought that perhaps she had seen them both disappear, but dismissed the thought as Aubrey continued. "Where are you off too? We've just finished, surely you guys can relax a little?"
Beca sighed again, this week just hadn't been her week. "I'll stay for a little while," she told the blonde, while coming up with lie to get out of the night earlier. "I can't stay out too early, I promised dad that I would have breakfast with him tomorrow?" As the words left her mouth, she cringed. No one went out early on a Saturday morning for breakfast.
"Hmm," Chloe hummed under her breath, seeing straight through the lie. But Aubrey seemingly accepted the story and dragged the two women back through the abandoned pool house and to the poolside.
Aubrey jumped down, as did Chloe, but Beca stayed up the top, deciding she would much rather just sit on the side, dangling her legs down, and watch the a capella group party their night away. She smiled as she saw Chloe take a drink from Fat Amy's bag, and join Stacie, grinding up against her like she was a pole. This drew the full attention of the group, and they formed a circle around the girls, cheering them on, drinking more. Beca watched as Chloe sculled drink after drink, her dancing becoming raunchier by the second.
She focused hard on the red head. Noticing how as she moved, every shake of her hip, the dark singlet she was wearing hitched higher, flesh showing, before the reverse movement brought it back down. The woman's eyes were shut as she concentrated on a song that she must have been singing in her head. Beca watched as Stacie turned to face Chloe, grabbing her hips and pulling her closer. Beca's stomach dropped, envy swelling. Cursing herself for her feelings, she tried to remain positive.
'It's just the alcohol, Beca.' she told herself. 'Why does it even matter anyway? Chloe doesn't care for me, I shouldn't care for Chloe. I'm not gay,'
Fat Amy's howl of approval brought Beca out of her thoughts, and as she looked back to the crowd, the singlet that had ridden up over Chloe's hip, well, Stacie's hand was running over her pale flesh. Chloe seemingly leaned in, taking Stacie's face, and pushed their lips together. The crowd erupted in approval, almost too loudly, because just as the alcohol-fueled kiss ended, torch light shone through the pool house. Campus Police.
Beca had already jumped up and was ready to run, something she was good at doing, but decided against it. Looking into the pool, her friends had turned off their torches and had pushed themselves against the side of the pool. Judging from the Campus Police, if they stayed on that side and didn't look around, they wouldn't have seen the girls. Beca understood this and quickly jumped down, conveniently next to Stacie. She couldn't hate any of the girls, but she was still envious of Stacie and Chloe.
Voices of the Campus Police grew closer, and as the Bella's had assumed, they didn't thoroughly check the pool. A few minutes passed, and the voices drowned out and the ladies removed themselves from their spot on the wall.
"Guys, I think I might head off, I really don't want to be up much later," Beca told the group, feigning a yawn. "And as I said earlier..." but her sentence was cut short by Fat Amy.
"Yeah, we heard you. Breakfast. Dad. Be gone with you, child!" she told Beca, over dramatising everything. Even Beca couldn't help herself from giggling.
"See you guys at next rehearsal,".
Chloe watched as Beca pulled herself up the ladder at the end of the pool again, a little sad she was leaving, but at the same time, Beca had made no real effort with her over the last week, and she intended to enjoy at least one night.
"Maybe we should call the night quits," Cynthia Rose said, speaking out properly for the first time all night. "Campus police just rocked up, Beca just left. The night's over,". Turning, Cynthia Rose left, Stacie following her. Stacie and Cynthia Rose had opted to get their dorms paired and so it was easier that the two left together, even though Stacie would much rather party.
The night ended on a pretty bad note.
OOOOOOOO
The following morning, Chloe and Aubrey both woke up late, however, Chloe seemed to roll over and go back to sleep, m eanwhile, Aubrey decided she would continue to organise their set, even though it seemed as though she had worked everything out that night. She reached to the desk at the end of the bed, trying not to pull the sheets off her legs. Aubrey succeeded, and leaned back, her back against the headboard, propping her up. Opening the laptop, she opened her email out of force of habit, then jumped on Facebook. She was on a mission, and her phone was too far away from her.
'Beca, what's going on between you and Chloe?' she typed out and hit send.
She wasn't online, so Aubrey didn't expect a reply, but she did expect Chloe to wake up soon again, and she wouldn't let her fall back to sleep, so she settled in watching a few youtube videos.
OOOOOOOO
On the otherside of campus, Beca hadn't really slept at all, she had dozed on and off, dreams coming and going about all sorts of random nonsense. She had gotten up a few times to try read herself into sleeping, instead she had found herself engrossed in a book which she had to tear herself from to even attempt getting sleep. She had even typed out a text message to Chloe, but had never pushed send.
It was nearly midday when she heard her phone ping, alerting her to a new Facebook message. It was Aubrey. Had Aubrey figured out about their kiss? Had she talked to Chloe? Beca wanted to trust her friend but something in her kept her from replying. Instead, she deleted the message, and when Aubrey confronted her about it, she would deny all knowledge.
A/N: Short chapter I know. Didn't really know what to write about. Plus it's late and I'm getting tired.
So yea. Lol. Review...please? :) Goodnight all :D
