Chapter 8

Leena looked down at her bandaged hand and remembered the incident from a few weeks ago…

The feel of Claudia's razor sharp fangs cutting into her skin

The pull of her mouth

The look of pure unaltered lust

The dark skinned woman still couldn't believe that even after munching through hand, breaking a few tiny bones, the whole situation had turned her on immensely.

H.G couldn't sleep…

The vampire lay in her 4 poster bed, the silk sheets strewn across her naked legs; she couldn't get Myka out of her mind… "Bianca, damn it Helena she isn't Myka anymore, restrain yourself, she's Bianca now" H.G whispered angrily, the mere thought of not being able to be with Myka was enough to kill her all over again. She couldn't bear not to be able to touch those brown curls or being able to trace every little colour in her lover's eyes …

"Ex-lover Helena, get it right!" the Victorians own thoughts told her off.

It was bad enough when the woman was dead and gone; the gaping hole slowly filled with lies and endless victims, but now she knew her partner was alive? It was like being torn to pieces all over again, the useless reassurances and blood; sliding away to reveal the emptiness without her better half… her soul.

"Not your partner either H.G" her mind reminded her snidely, the voice sounding eerily like Charles.

This was too confusing

She needed her lover back, she needed to be whole and as much as she hated to admit it- she needed Bianca…

Her Myka was gone, but her body was still there, her mind too, just not the memories...

Eventually sleep crept up and took Bianca to the land of dreams…

The vampire found herself in a garden coloured only in black and white, standing in the daylight for the first time in all too long.

Bianca rose her hand and let the heat seep into her skin, the warmth comforting for the confused dream walker.

Where the hell was she?

She dragged her gaze away from the white light to see a couple standing a few metres away, the pair talking softly under an old apple tree, its branches heavy with red fruit.

Curiosity ever her worst vice; the vampire snuck forward, hiding in the cast shadow of the tree, her head peeking out from the hiding spot to catch a better view of the couple.

They were both women, one clad with a light grey blouse and tight fitting pants; the other in a white blouse and from her small view Bianca could only see the black and white curls of the woman in front of her.

"Helena what's wrong? You haven't spoken a word all day… have I done something wrong love?" the closer female asked, her face blocked by the wall of curls. Black and white H.G looked up at the female, startled out of revere, her face confused as to what the question was.

The female turned and started towards Bianca's spot under the tree and the vampire cringed, only to be walked right through by herself… wait no, this wasn't her, this was Myka, a very upset Myka-but still the vampires twin. "Myka stop" H.G called from her still position under the tree, halting the other woman just in the shadows of the tree, to the right of Bianca.

"Helena if you wanted this to be over you could have just said… You didn't have to push me away day after day, working on that damn Time Machine or writing your novels. Charles is big enough to write his own material, he doesn't need to you caudle him." Myka stated, her hands high in the air, glaring at a re-stunned H.G.

"Myka what are you talking about? We had lunch just the other day…"

"Oh no Miss Wells, don't even try, the 'other day' you're referring to? Was over a month ago… you haven't spoken to me properly in even longer!"

"I want to know what I have done to offend you or caused you to hate me, you must hate me to treat in this way" Myka accused HG, her now limp arms clenching in anger.

The Victorian's eyes finally clicked to her partner's problem and laughed…

Not a small polite laugh or a chuckle, this was a full on belly laugh, collapsing the woman to the ground, her hand holding onto her stomach, head touching the grey grass.

Myka looked stunned and if possible even more hurt and angry "What Helena? Has my statement amused you?"

"Has my love for you become no more than a game!"

"A puzzle for you to discard after its completion?"

"Tell me!" Myka exclaimed loudly, throwing her arms in the air, her face a darker grey.

The black haired woman looked up at the end of her partner's statement, her body still racking with residual waves of laughter "oh Myka you have it all backwards, I haven't been avoiding you intentionally… I have been working day and night for you" H.G smiled softly and rose slowly from her place in the ground. "You don't want to live at the Warehouse forever do you? As much as we both love Katuranga and Pete, I wanted for us to have our own place, away from the chaos"

Myka's face turned in confusion "what are you talking about? There is no way that your Time Machine could possibly build a house, reconstruct atoms in order to make a whole complete formation, unless you plan on using 'Levasies watch' which I don't think Katuranga would appreciate…"

H.G had slowly made her way in front of Myka during her rambling and effectively placed her hand over her lover's mouth, smiling sweetly at the answering crinkled brow.

"Myka my love, I have been making a rocket…" *following small noise of protest* "a rocket I planned to sell to the highest bidder so as to acquire the money for a home of our own, where we can be us… together with little Christina"

"I want to spend the rest of our days together, be it at the Warehouse or in new cottage, our grandchildren running under our feet" Myka muffled out a small giggle at that " I love you and only you, so please darling…" H.G hesitated for only a moment before sliding down on one knee before Myka, her hold transferring to the Americans hands.

"Will you Myka Bering marry myself? Standing under the glaring beams of the setting sun… in the garden of our new home, darling Christina by our side?"

Myka stood stunned for what seemed like forever

So long was her silence in fact Bianca in her impatience yelled "oh get in with it you ignorant git", slipping into her favoured English victims accent.

"I… I.." Myka gasped, clinging to H.G's hands for dear life, the woman was becoming whiter by the second.

"I think yes is the answer your searching for love, unless I've guessed wrong, which I can assure you I never do" H.G quipped, smiling hopefully up at her other half, knowing exactly what the younger woman needed at that moment.

Her guesses as always right, caused Myka to smile, "yes Helena, I will marry you…"

Then the woman thought for a second "one condition though…" The American finished, smiling shyly at her partner.

H.G in her joy exclaimed "anything Mrs Wells-Bering!", standing up so fast her knees clicked quietly in protest, "Bering-Wells" Myka blurted out before covering her mouth with her hands.

"Pardon?" H.G inquired, her eyebrows raised in disbelief, " Bering-Wells, that is my condition Helena, please?" Myka mumbled through her hands, eyes searching for a reaction other than surprise.

"Of course darling, is that all?" H.G laughed suddenly, jumping up and embracing Myka, looking deep into her eyes, "yes Helena, having you is all I could ever want… or need"

*Click*

Bianca looked off the side to see a pair of gentlemen grinning like school boys, holding up a cooling slide, containing the freshly captured image of the couple.

The women looked over and both broke out into a mixture of surprise and pouts

"Charles!"

"Pete!"

"Well Charles old boy, I'd say now is the time to… RUN!"

"Agreed"

The men took off, closely followed by the Bering-Wells, all of them laughing, the women shouting various threats as to what would happen to the gentlemen in the near future.

Bianca woke up, shivering, her body racking from unshed tears, what had she done? Why couldn't she just be the Myka that H.G wanted?

Or maybe she could be…
