Chapter 8: An unexpected visitor

Luigi was peacefully awoken by the light chirping of the blue birds that sat in the tree by his bedroom window. The first light of the morning sunrise started to peek through his green curtains, creeping its way across the bedroom floor. He started to sit himself up, but he found it more difficult than usual, chuckling to himself when he realized it was due to the beautiful brunette nuzzled by his shoulder, his arm draped along her side and his hand resting on the small of her back.

He smiled to himself, dancing the tips of his fingers along the dimples on her lower back.

I must be in heaven because I never would've expected to have been woken up to this beautiful sight...

Ever so slightly, Luigi carefully pulled his arm out from under her. Daisy stirred just a little, but the deep, slow breathing indicated that she wasn't close to waking up from something like that. He smiled again, thinking about last night as he searched for his boxers that had been thrown somewhere onto the bedroom floor.

Slipping them on, he tossed on the first pair of pajama pants he could find and tiptoed to the door, slipping his way out without a sound. As he made his way down the staircase he could hear Mario and Peach conversing in the kitchen.

"I'm not sure, love." Mario's faint voice could be heard saying. "Did you look by the pool?"

"I told you already I looked there and I went to her bedroom and she wasn't there!"

Peach turned her head as Luigi entered the room.

"Oh! Luigi! Perfect. I was trying to find Daisy because we had to talk about some plans we were making for the weekend. Do you know where she is?"

Luigi stopped right in his tracks. He gulped. Peach was a little...traditional when it came to relationships. As long as her and Mario had been together before they married, she saved herself for him and that day. Sure they shared a few kisses and maybe some "similar" to what Luigi had experienced last night, but he had a feeling Peach would ring his neck if she knew what Luigi did with her best friend. She was very protective of Daisy.

"Little brother what the heck is wrong with you?"

"I...she.."

Peach raised an eyebrow as him as she sipped her coffee. As she placed the mug on the counter, she stood up and walked up to Luigi.

"Where is she? Is she okay?" Peach asked

"Yeah! Oh yes yes she um...she went to the Mushroom square."

Peaches eyes lit up. "Oh! What a great idea. I think I'll go meet her there!" Peach hurried out of the kitchen.

"Don't wait up Mario!" She exclaimed as she hurried up the staircase.

Luigi breathed a heavy sigh of relief. He wasn't quite ready to be so open with Peach about what had happened last night.

Now I have to figure out how I can get Daisy to town square without Peach noticing...

He turned to make his way to the fridge for breakfast, but his eyes were met with his brothers. His look was mischievous, and Luigi started to feel a little uneasy.

"You know you're a terrible liar, right?"

Luigi raised his eyebrows this time. "What are you talking about?"

"You and Daisy slept together didn't you? She's in your room right now I bet."

Luigi tried to put on a face for his brother, but that stare was burning right into Luigis conscience. No matter how hard he would try sometimes, he was never good at hiding things from his brother.

"We didn't...sleep together. We just...experimented a little. I- -I'm not ready to take things that far just yet. Please don't tell Peach...I feel like I won't hear the end of it. She's gonna turn into mother mode on her best friend..."

Mario had a faint smile on his face. He got immense joy out of picking on his brother, but even he had a line he drew. This was a big deal for his little brother. Luigi so much as held a girls hand growing up for years on end.

"How was it?"

Luigis Eyes grew wide. "W-what?"

"How was it?"

Luigi stared for a moment before bowing his head and scratching the back of his neck.

"It was...gee Mario I don't even know how to...

...it was better than I expected but nothing like I even imagined."

Mario smiled again and gave his brother a pat on the back.

"Just you wait my friend..just you wait."

Daisy was In the shower by the time Luigi came back upstairs. He could hear her humming as stream came through the bathroom door. As tempting as it was to make his way into that shower with her, he didn't want to take things too fast. Despite last night he technically hadn't seen her completely naked, and he wasn't sure if a surprise hello from the shower would be the best or most romantic way to experience that moment.

He started to dress as the water shut off. He walked over to the bathroom door, knocking softly.

"Yes?"

"Daisy, it's me. May I come in? I need to trim my moustache and brush my teeth.

"Of course. Just one second."

He slipped his way in when she gave him the okay.

She had her hair all up in a towel with another one wrapped around her wet body. Little beads of water still dripping from certain parts of her body.

"Listen.." Luigi began. "I got myself in a little bit of a pickle." He chuckled.

"Is that a surprise?" Daisy replied and started to laugh. Luigi rolled his eyes.

"Peach was looking for you when I got up this morning...she asked me if I knew where you were and I kind of panicked and told her you had make your way to Mushroom Square.."

Daisy squeezed the towel around her damp hair one last time before hanging the towel on a nearby hook. She looked at Luigi, highly amused.

"Of all the people you'd worry about knowing that i went down on your and slept in your bed, Peach is the one you're worried about?!" She burst into a fit of giggle and Luigi rolled his eyes.

"It's not funny, Daisy. She's your best friend and she is very protective of you...I respect you both I don't want her upset with either of us. My brother could tell I was lying though..he knows."

"Weedge, as much of a prude as Peach can be, she has no control over my love life. She's just protective because..."

Daisy stopped herself. Peach was the only one who knew about what happened. She trusted Luigi, but she wasn't quite ready to share something like that with him.

"Because..?" Luigi said, cutting off her train of thought.

"Because some silly boy broke my heart in our teen years that's all. She-she holds grudges. What can I say?"

"Ah...okay." Luigi replied. He wasn't positive Daisy was telling the truth, but he wasn't one to pry.

Everyone was showered and dressed. Daisy has made her way to the square before Peach could even finish her makeup. After putting on the 7th dress, she finally came to a decision.

"You know it doesn't matter which one you wear Peach you still look just as beautiful as you always do, right?" Mario said.

Peach blushed but rolled her eyes. "I'm queen now, Mario. It's a difficult decision to make!"

Mario shook his head and chuckled. "Whatever you say, love."

Peach gave Mario a quick peck on the lips before entering the limo and making her way towards Mushroom square. She and Daisy had been wanting to get together to make some plans for the two of them. She also wanted to hear whatever Daisy had to say about Luigi. Peach felt like they were a perfect match.

A crowd a people started to emerge as her limo pulled up in front approached the entrance of the bistro. She could already see Daisy sitting out on the terrace sipping a Bloody Mary. As much as people in town gave Peach a lot of attention, they were always respectful of her time and space. Peach had no problem shaking hands and taking a few pictures, but she was there to spend some time with her best friend and enjoy a nice brunch.

The chauffeur opened her door and out she stepped. People clapped and cheered as Peach gave a polite wave as she strolled through the gate and over to her friend, smiling brightly. Members of the castles protection calmed down the fuss of people, and over a course of a few minutes the townspeople went back to what they had been doing, aside from some of the people also sitting on the terrace who were clearly talking in excitement that they were sitting so close to the queen.

"What an entrance." Daisy teased.

Peach rolled her eyes and chuckled. "Oh please.."

"Bloody Mary?"

"Do you even have to ask?"

Two bloody Mary's in, The girls still had a lot of catching up to do. With all the business from the wedding and with Daisy spending a lot of time with Luigi since then, they hadn't had much time to have their girl talk.

"I'm thinking we have a big yacht party for your birthday!!"

Daisy pauses in the middle of a bite of her eggs Benedict.

"You can be serious?"

"Sure I am! We can invite your family in Sarasaland and I'm sure Rosalina would come as well. I can make a whole list of people."

"Peach that sounds awesome but you don't have to go through all of that trouble, it's not necessary."

Peach shook her head. "Don't be silly. You're my best friend and I'd be more than happy to do this for you!"

"Well...I.."

"Daisy?"

Daisy watched Peachs eyes grow wide in a mixture of fear and anger before she even turned to see who said her name.

She turned in her chair and froze.

Oh no. It's him.

Standing on the other side of the gate surrounding the terrace was a man Daisy hadn't seen since her final school years back in Sarasaland. Darius. His father was King of a kingdom near Daisy's birth place. His father was a tyrant. He was rude, full of himself, and so was his son.

I thought I'd never have to lay my eyes on him.

Daisys look of surprise turned defensive. She clenched her fists, standing up from the table and Peach following suit.

"I think it's time we get out of here, Peach."

"So you don't even have the guts to talk to me, huh?" His low voice said in a keniving tone.

"I'd rather puke out my guts or spill my guts then have to stand here and speak to you." Daisy hopped over the gate and turned to leave. He grabbed ahold of her wrist and she jerked away faster than he could even react to take a hold of her from stopping.

"What is your problem, Daze? Don't you miss me?" He smirked.

"Don't. You. Fucking. Touch. Me." Her voice growled.

The smirk never left his face. He shrugged his shoulders.

"Suit yourself." He went to turn away but spun back and leaned towards her ear. She froze again. Unable to step away.

"Soon enough you'll be wanting me again. You'll be back begging for more. I know you missed me throbbing Inside of you."

Daisy allowed a faint gasp to leave her lips and she bit the inside of her lip, trying to hard to stay strong, to hold back the tears. A flooding of images ambushing her with thoughts of that horrible night. Darius turned on his foot and walked away. Daisy just stood aghast. It took Peach and a couple people on watch for the queen to get her to move and get her into the limo.

They both sat In silence. Daisy felt afraid and filthy. That awful man laid a finger on her, she couldn't shake off how dirty she felt. She stared at the floor of the limo the whole time. Peach made a couple attempts to talk brighten her mood, but daisy wanted no part in it.

As they approached the castle, Daisy was out of the limo before it could even come to a full stop.

"Daisy! Wait!" Peach exclaimed.

Daisy slammed the door, walking fast as she pulled open the castle doors as hard and fast as she could. She was starting to lose her cool. Her body shaking, small sobs escaping her mouth as she tried so very hard to keep the tears from strolling down her cheeks. The pound of the doors hitting the wall were enough to draw the attention of a few toad servants and bring Mario and Luigi into the foyer.

Luigi stopped when he saw Daisy's face, slightly caught off guard. Her jogger over and stopped in front of her, but she kept walking.

"Daisy? What's going on? What's wrong?"

"Leave me alone."

The caring person in Luigi couldn't leave her alone. This was his girlfriend. She was clearly upset, he wanted..no..needed to help. He reached his hand out to take hers a halt her steps.

"Daisy please I-"

She spun around quicker than she jerked her hand away earlier on. "LEAVE ME ALONE!" She screamed, tears flowing down her bright red cheeks. Luigi stopped and pulled his hand away, dumbfounded. Daisy broke out into a run up the stairs and into her own room, slamming the door behind her.

Luigi stood in silence for a couple minutes before he came to his senses. He turned to Peach.

"What happened?" He asked Peach.

"She..ran into someone we knew in school. They used to date. It was very brief. I guess it just upset her..."

"No." Luigi said. "That's a lie. She wouldn't react like that. What did that man do to her?????"

"Luigi, that's really not my place to tell you-"

"Bullshit!" Luigi raised his voice a little. Peach jumped a little at both the volume Increase and the choice of words.

"You clearly know what happened back then! Why can't I?!"

"Don't you dare speak to me like that Luigi Mario!" She responded, pointing a finger in his face. "Just because you all of a sudden feel powerful because you're no longer a scared little wimp who couldn't even talk to a woman doesn't mean you can say whatever you please!!" Her voice faltered a little. At this point, Mario made his way over intervene.

"Okay okay. Both of you please relax. Let's not say something we would regret, okay?"

Luigi turned to Mario. "Peach already did..." he turned and made his way up the stairs, entering his room and quietly shutting the door.

It was tearing him apart that Daisy didn't want to talk to him. All he wanted to do was help her, to hold her in his arms and let her know that it would be okay. He sighed, plopping his head against the pillows. He switched on the tv just to have some noise and stared at the ceiling.

In the other room Daisy was wiping the makeup off of her face. She dabbed her cheeks and eyes with a cool wet washcloth to help with the puffiness. She was angry, and now she felt guilty. She couldn't believe herself for raising her voice at Luigi like that. He hadn't done anything wrong.

I'm such an asshole...

It was long before Daisy settled into her bed and drifted off to sleep. The crying had given her a headache, and the puffiness made her tired. She drifted off for about two hours until a knock on the door awoke her.

A little groggy, she made her way out from underneath the covers to the door.

"Luigi I- -". She began as she opened it. She stopped when he saw who greeted her.

"Mario?"

Mario stood with a beer in his hand, a small smile coming to his lips.

"Hey, I figured you could use one of these. Peach told me it's your favorite. May we talk?"

Daisy smiled. "Of course. She stepped outside the room and made her way downstairs with Mario. They sat in the lounge area, Mario handed her her beer once she sat, cracking open his once he was seated.

"Thank you." She quietly said. He nodded.

"Look Mario I didn't mean to raise my voice at him like that, and in your home. It was uncalled for. I'm sorry..."

"No need for an apology, Daisy. You know I won't pry, it's not my business what had happened today or back then, but I know you should talk to my brother sometime soon. He's stronger than most see, but when it comes to you that man is delicate. You've got a good hold onto his heart..."

Daisy couldn't help but smile and blush. Mario started to continue.

"I never really thought I'd see him look at someone the way he looks at you. I just want you to know how much he cares and he just wants to help. But he's not gonna be the one to approach you at this point, he's afraid of upsetting you again..."

"I know I know...I'll go in a little bit, I don't want him stressing very much longer."

"I'm really happy my brother mucked up the courage to talk to you, Daisy." Mario chuckled. You're the best thing that's happened to him in I don't know how long.

Daisy chuckled as well. She finished the contents of her beer and stood up with Mario, pulling him into a hug.

"Thank you, Mario. That means a lot."

Daisy made her way towards the staircase and Luigi was already on his way down, yawning and stretching as he descended the stairs.

"Oh..Daisy! I.." she put her finger to his lips, shushing him. She pulled it away, placing a kiss on his lip.

"Don't say it...I'm the one that needs to be sorry. I should've never screamed at you."

He lightly stroked her cheek with the back of his hand, wiping a single tear away from her eye.

"You know you can come to me about anything, right?"

Daisy nodded.

"I'm just not ready to talk about it, okay?"

"I understand."

She sealed his lips with one more kiss and smiled.

"What do you say we go get some lunch?? I'm starrrrrving!"

Luigi laughed. "How in the world do you fit all the food you eat into that petite little body of yours?"

She raised her hands and shrugged, making Luigi laugh even more.

"Come on! I want tacos! Tacooooooooooos!" Daisy rubbed her belly and stuck out her bottom lip. Luigi shook his head laughing and followed her out the castle doors.
