Hello everybody! Wow, it's been awhile, ne? Sorry if you thought I died or stopped writing, I didn't and I'm not. I honestly had some major writers block and couldn't decide what to do next with this story, considering a lot of the conflict was resolved in the last chapter. I did have someone contact me and ask about if Yuki had ever had sex with other cats when she was still a cat. Think of it like this, when Yuki was a cat, she still had the mind of a human so she could tame the normal animal instincts that might usually arise. I hope that cleared any confusing bits up for my readers.

Enough drabbling from me... onwards!

I do not own Naruto or any of the characters. I only own my OC, Yuki. This is purely fan-made.

Chapter Eight

Yuki waited anxiously for Gaara to return home. Several months had passed since Gaara and Yuki had validated their relationship with one another, and things had been going smoothly for the couple.

Gaara had spent the last few months becoming more accustomed to being in a relationship. Even though Gaara knew Yuki's personality well enough, he was still figuring out the small gestures and actions couples usually partook in, such as hand holding. Although, being in an intimate relationship was very new to the both of them, especially Gaara, they both welcomed the new obstacles each day presented itself with.

Yuki quickly realized that days when Gaara spent long hours in the office, she would often find herself with little to do. She determined the best way to spend her time away from her lover was to accomplish all the things she had never been able to learn while she had been a cat.

Reading and writing were her first two hurdles she had to jump. Luckily, Yuki was able to find a small after-school program that was devoted to perfecting the Japanese language.

At first, Yuki had felt awkward. Most of her classmates were young children who were in their early years of grade school. Thankfully, her teacher, Mrs. Ishida, was a very kind older woman who was very eager to help Yuki out.

Yuki soon discovered that even though her classmates were very young, they were surprisingly knowledgeable. Everyone in the class worked hard and helped each other with every day lessons.

The kids quickly grew attached to Yuki, viewing her as an older sibling, and would often call her "Older Sister Yuki", and Yuki grew very fond of them.

Mrs. Ishida stood in front of her small class realizing that time had certainly flown by and it was time to dismiss her students.

"Now, that you all understand and can recognize hiragana, next week we will be learning some different types of symbols known as kanji. Before you all leave to enjoy your weekends, make sure that you pick-up a workbook from my desk and complete it by the next time I see you," Mrs. Ishida said.

"Yes Mrs. Ishida!" the class chimed in unison.

With the go-ahead to retire for the day, each student quickly began packing away their things and hurrying to the front of the room in order to grab their workbook.

"Good-bye Older Sister Yuki! I'll see you next week!"

"Bye-bye Mako-chan, I hope you have a fun weekend with your family," Yuki replied to a small girl who had her jet-black hair in two pigtails.

"I will! My brother is coming home today from a ninja mission, so that means we'll all go out for barbeque!" Mako-chan replied eagerly.

Yuki patted the little girl's head and smiled warmly at her. "Well then, you better get home soon so you can greet him!"

Mako-chan nodded her head in agreement and quickly rushed out the door, but not before waving good-bye to her favorite older student.

"You sure have a way with these kids," Mrs. Ishida said as she appeared next to Yuki who was gathering her belongings.

"Haha, what can I say? They're all so cute and they have so much energy! Gaara often tells me I have too much energy for my own good, so they help me burn it off, that way I don't overwhelm him at home."

Mrs. Ishida smiled at the mention of Suna's kage. "How is Kazekage-sama? My husband told me he's been a bit on edge lately at meetings."

Mrs. Ishida was married to one of the councilmen Gaara often confided with during weekly meetings. They both worked in the same building, so Mrs. Ishida, like Yuki, would often know what to expect from Suna's leader.

"You know, he won't tell me," Yuki pouted. "He's been getting home really late recently, I mean like passed midnight late! I try to stay up for him but a lot of the times I fall asleep, and when I do manage to keep awake, he scolds me for not resting. I tell him I'm worried and that he looks tired, but he just waves it off like it's nothing."

"Well, he does have a very demanding job dear. All you can do is be good to him and help him out as much as possible by showing that you care." Mrs. Ishida smiled gently at Yuki.

Yuki had always liked talking to Mrs. Ishida. Other than Temari, she was really the only other older woman she could talk to about her problems. Recently, Yuki had been going to her more often because she was worried about Gaara and didn't know how to get him to talk to her.

"I'll do my best," Yuki smiled enthusiastically. "After all, caring about people is a specialty of mine."

Mrs. Ishida chuckled at the younger girl. "Kazekage-sama is very lucky to have you in his life."

Yuki blushed at the compliment and laughed awkwardly. "Well, I don't know about that but I mean, uhh- WOW! Is that what time it is? I better get home before it starts getting dark out. I'll see you next week Mrs. Ishida!" And with that said Yuki quickly bolted out of the room.

Mrs. Ishida stared at the door in bemusement, shaking her head slightly. "She really is a special kind of girl," she thought.

The warm desert days were quickly becoming more brisk. Although, Suna's cold months could never rival Yukigakure, the Village Hidden among Snow, it was still chilly enough where villagers would often dress in long pants and jackets in order to stay warm.

Yuki casually strolled down the dirt roads of Suna, looking at all the passersby. People watching had always been an enjoyment of Yukis because it was something she did often as a cat. It was much easier for her nowadays because many people didn't stop to stare at her unusual appearance anymore, considering her cat-like features had vanished after Gaara had made love to her.

Yuki blushed at the thought of the couple's first night together, remembering how special it was to have finally found someone who cared for her the way Gaara did.

Yuki was so wrapped up in her own thoughts that she didn't realize where her feet were carrying her and soon she found herself wandering into one of the busiest parts of the village.

Realizing how far she had wandered from her usual path home Yuki sighed in annoyance.

"Yuki? Hey Yuki! Over here!"

Yuki turned her attention to the voice that was calling her name and soon made eye-contact with Kankuro.

Pushing her way through the crowd, Yuki managed to make her way towards the puppet master.

"Hello there Kankuro! What brings you here this evening?" Yuki said happy to see a familiar face.

"Well, I had a bit of free time so I thought I'd go out for a drink. Why don't you join me?" Kankuro said swinging his arm around Yuki's shoulders.

The action had caused Kankuro to diminish the distance between the two and Yuki could blatantly smell alcohol on Kankuro's breath.

"I think you've already gotten a head start on me," Yuki said lightly. She had never really drank before and she honestly wanted to get home in hopes that Gaara would be there.

"Aww come-on Yuki! You've been dating my brother for months now and I can count on one hand the number of times we've hung out. Besides, I know for a fact that Gaara is all cooped up in his office, probably for the rest of the night."

At the mention of this, Yuki's hopes of spending time with her boyfriend quickly evaporated, leaving an empty pit in her stomach.

Shaking off the sadness that threatened to overwhelm her, Yuki glanced at Kankuro. "You know what Kankuro? I think a drink would be wonderful right about now."

"That's the spirit! Come on I know the perfect place!" And with that said, Kankuro dragged Yuki to one of his favorite bars in Suna.

"You know w-what Kan Kankuuuro?" Yuki slurred. "Gaara is such a stick i-in the mud. I've hardly ssseen him these lassst few months."

"Yooouu should tell him hooow you feel Yuki. Gaara doesn't understand rela- *hic* relationships well."

Kankuro took another swig of his drink, promptly draining the glass. He signaled the bartender for another.

Yuki and Kankuro sat side-by-side in a very run-down bar. The pair had similar dopey expressions on their faces and both sported a light pink tinge on their cheeks.

The bartender approached the two and handed Kankuro the bill, rather than another drink. "I think you two've had enough for one night."

Kankuro grabbed the bill from the man's hand. "No- now lisssten 'ere mister. This young lady next to me is goooing throough a rough time and needs ssssome cheering up. How about pouring us one mooore round and we'll be on ooour ways."

The bartender glanced at Yuki, who at the moment was having difficulties staying on her barstool.

"This girl is obviously very drunk. I suggest you pay your tab and take her home."

"Fi-fine!" Kankuro yelled. Slamming a couple hundred yen on the table, he grabbed Yuki by the arm and dragged her out of the bar.

Gaara rubbed his temples in frustration. It seemed like his mountainous amounts of paperwork were never-ending. Each time he looked at the piles on his desk they seemed to have gotten larger, if that were possible.

Slamming his pen on the table, he decided he needed to take a walk to clear his mind.

Stepping outside, Gaara took a deep breath. He began walking in no particular direction, with no particular destination in mind.

He had been feeling very guilty lately, knowing that much of his time was being spent in his office rather than at home. Sure he had more work than usual lately, but something else had been plaguing his mind. Yuki.

His feelings had not changed towards the girl since the night she had changed back into a human, but an uneasiness that Gaara could not explain had overcome him.

Many times he had tried to voice what he was feeling to Yuki, but every time he attempted he could never find the right words and would often end up upset.

It never helped that Yuki would continue to coax him into talking to her, saying things like, "Gaara what's wrong?" and "Why won't you talk to me, Gaara?"

Gaara realized that after wandering around for several minutes, he had ended-up in front of his and Yuki's house. He wondered if Yuki was home.

Thinking about her made him want to be with her. He knew she had been missing him lately and he felt the same. Often times he wished she could just be a cat again so she could sit in his lap while he worked. That thought brought a small smile to Gaara's face.

Running a hand through his hair, he decided that the rest of his work could wait until tomorrow. Right now, more than anything, he wanted to see Yuki.

After leaving the bar, Yuki and Kankuro found themselves stumbling along the night streets. Passing by a liquor store, Kankuro willed himself to remain sober just long enough to go into the store, purchase a bottle of saki, and then quickly rejoin Yuki.

To his surprise though, Yuki was nowhere to be found.

"Oh shit," Kankuro swore internally. "Where the hell is she?"

Gaara searched his house for several minutes before he realized Yuki was not home. Worrying that something bad had happened he began pacing in his bedroom trying to calm himself down in order to think rationally.

"She's not here. But where else could she be? It's dark, it's late… what if something happened to her on her way home from her reading lessons? Was she ambushed? Or maybe she tripped and is hurt somewhere…"

At that moment, before Gaara could think-up any more scenarios, he heard the front door open.

"Gaara! Gaara! Are you here?!"

Gaara rushed downstairs to find Kankuro slumped against the entrance wall, screaming for him.

"Oh thank Kami you're here. I-I lossst Yuki."

Eyeing up his brother, Gaara quickly realized that Kankuro had been drinking… heavily. "What do you mean you lost Yuki? What were you doing with her in the first place?" Gaara growled a bit forcefully. He was very aggravated about his current situation, but he tried hard to drown out the violent thoughts he was currently having towards his brother.

"L-Look Gaara. I saw Yuki thisss evening and ssshe seemed… I don't know, upset? And I thought maybe she would feel b-better hanging out w- *hic* a familiar *hic* face. Sssso I took 'er out for a few drinks." Kankuro tried his best to keep his thoughts in order, but he could quickly feel himself fading.

"So you got her drunk and then lost her?! How could you be so careless? What if something happened to her? She's a very trusting person Kankuro, someone could have easily taken advantage of her. I can't believe how careless you are! Do you even know how much she means to me?" Gaara stood shaking in fury in front of his older brother, who was very much unconscious. Whether Kankuro had heard Gaara's angry outburst was undetermined, and at the moment Gaara knew that the most important thing was to find Yuki.

Gaara rushed outside, and quickly began running along the streets of Suna. "Shit, I don't even know the first thing about looking for someone. I'm not a tracking ninja. Now calm down Gaara, where are places Yuki actually knows?"

Stopping for a brief moment Gaara pondered his own question. "The Kazekage building!"

Within a blink of an eye, Gaara had arrived at his work building praying that Yuki was somewhere inside.

"Yuki! Yuki!" he yelled as he darted up the steps to the top floor. "Please Yuki, please be here," he whispered under his breath.

Stopping in front of his office door. He hunched over, trying to catch his breath, realizing that he had been basically sprinting the whole time he was searching for Yuki.

As he willed himself to quickly inhale oxygen, he heard small giggle. Then another. Until finally, he heard full out laughter coming from very close to where he was standing.

Realizing the sound was coming from inside his office, he grabbed the doorknob and threw open the door.

To say Gaara was shocked would have been an understatement; although, you'd never have been able to tell by looking at his facial expression.

Prancing around in his office with his important paperwork in her hands, was Yuki.

Gaara watched the girl as the she tossed handful after handful of white parchment paper onto the floor, which already looked as though a huge snowstorm had made its way through the room.

"Yuki? Wha-what on Earth are you doing?" Gaara stammered.

Continuing her task at hand, Yuki chimed, "I hate this awwwful paperwork. It'sss the worssst. When I came here to see y- *hic* you, you weren't here, but these were! A-and I th-thought 'Go away ssstupid paperwork! G-go *hic* away!' and I picked it up and threw it on the floor."

"Yuki stop!" Gaara had quickly crossed the room and successfully grabbed Yuki's arm in order to cease her actions. "You're acting ridiculous. You're drunk, and you're only making things difficult right now."

Breaking free from Gaara's grasp, Yuki threw the rest of the pile in her arms onto the floor. "I-I'm not a druuunk! You're a drunk! I-I jussst wanna see youu again, but I won't when all y-you do isss ssssit around w-with your *hic* papers!"

"Yuki, I said YOU ARE DRUNK not that YOU ARE A DRUNK," Gaara said, emphasizing each phrase. "And just because you want the paperwork gone doesn't mean throwing it on the ground is going to make it go away. If anything you're giving me more work because now I have to pick it all up!" Gaara could feel his usual calm composure starting to slip away.

"Wellll excussse me for wanting t-tooooo spend time with my boyfriend. It'ss like you d-don't *hic* even care about me anymore!" Tears of rage began welling up in the corners of Yuki's eyes, but she willed them back, hearing herself shouting at the red head in front of her.

"Don't care? I was worried sick that you had gotten yourself kidnapped or hurt! Don't tell me that I don't care about you. You're the only person I think about. You're the only person who's made me feel things that I can't even describe. You're the only person I've ever been in love with!" Gaara was practically shouting. At that moment he didn't care if he woke all of Suna, the fact that she said those words had wounded him more than anything he had ever felt in his lifetime.

"Yea right. If yo-you loved me then why am I-I always alone at night? W-Why don't you talk to me? Why don't you *hic* touch me? You kn-know what I think G-Gaara? I-I think you only l-loved me when I was a c-cat. W-When I was a cat you didn't have to d-deal with p-petty human emotions. You *hic* YOU *hic*…" Because of the absolute hurt and anger rising up inside of her, Yuki couldn't bring herself to voice anymore words. Instead she choked back the sob threatening to spill out of her mouth, except it wasn't a sob, it was vomit. And she couldn't choke it back, promptly throwing-up all over the documents laying by her feet, as well as Gaara's shoes.

Phew! There you have it, Chapter 8! I hope you could understand it well enough... I wasn't sure how to write drunk-speech in a well enough way haha.
