Good day readers. I know that this sounds selfish but I would really like it if there were more reviews. Not getting more reviews doesn't really inspire me but don't worry, I'll keep writing for you! If you don't like my stories then there's no problem in telling me what is wrong and tell me how to make it better. This chapter was written by my sister and me.
Disclaimer: Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Zuko's POV
I couldn't believe what I was seeing! Is this a hallucination or is this really happening to me. So many questions were running through my mind. Who is he? Why is he here? Is this real? I looked at him and then I recognized him from Fire Nation history. He is Avatar Roku! I heard Katara ask who he was.
"H-he is Avatar Roku." I whispered back.
Katara and I were in complete shock. Why would he be here? He answered me as if he were reading my mind.
"Hello young ones. I see you have come to my island or as I call it, my place of death."
His place of death? I didn't say anything but Katara asked away.
"Whyare you talking to us? Not to sound rude but why would someone as great as you be talking to us?"
"There is so much you need to know but I don't have much time. You see, when I was still alive I had a friend named Sozin. Years after I found out I was the Avatar, I came back to the Fire Nation not only to marry the woman I loved but I also came to see my best friend. About a few weeks of being in the Fire Nation I found out the Sozin wanted to take over the world. I was shocked but I still answered no. Even when I had said no, I knew he wouldn't just give up that easily. Before I was to leave I found something no one has ever heard of. I called it Sozin's stone. It was a stone that Sozin somehow created, it's to be used to make firebending 10 times more powerful. I knew he would use it on the comet he had discovered where he would be the most powerful firebender in the world. So I took it and hid it forever until now."
He lift an arm and from the ground a glowing red-orange lavish stone appeared. He had it in his hand and gave it to me. I was so confused that he gave it to me. The stone was smooth but instead of a warm feeling it was cool. I could feel it's power inside me already. I bowed to him and asked him why he gave it to me.
"I gave it to you Zuko because I know you won't use it for evil purposes. You of course, have my own blood."
I widen my eyes in astonishment. I looked at him.
"What do you mean?"
"Zuko, you are my great grandson from your mother's side. And even though you are also Sozin's great grandson, I found good in you."
"What should I do with it?"
"I can't say much but give it to the person who is the bridge between the normal and spirit world."
And with that, he disappeared. I was still freaked out, I mean who wouldn't if a spirit came and said that he was your great grandfather then gave you a stone that gives ultimate power to any firebender. This was a pretty crazy night. Katara looked at me as if she knew something that I didn't.
"Zuko, do you know what this means?" She didn't let me respond, she just answered her own question.
"We must give the stone to the Avatar! The Avatar!"
"I thought the Avatar didn't reproduce into the Air Nomads."
"Well, Roku must know what he is talking about. He was the Avatar."
She was right even if the chances were low. I looked at the stone and its glow. Kartara's stare at the stone turned into a gaze. I hid the stone in an inside pocket of my pants in case anybody wants their hands on it. As Avatar Roku had said, we need to give it to the Avatar but there is one problem, who knows where the fuck he is? First thing first, I need to leave the Fire Nation and then I need to find the Avatar. If only I had a map and then we could find our way out of here. I looked for the piece of wood we used before but it was gone! This happened twice and I don't know how much longer I can take this anymore. I asked Katara I she could waterbend an ice platform and take us to the nearest island.
"I'm sorry Zuko but with the lack of food and our low supply of water, I don't think I have enough energy to even make an ice platform." I started to think but my mind was blank.
"But, tomorrow night is a full moon and if we drink my bending water then we could probably make it till then. During the full moon I could try to make a platform and we could get out of here."
The thought of drinking her bending water kind of grossed me out, who knows what else she could have used it for. But it's the only option we have other than stay here and wait to die but then that will mean Azula will be Fire Lord and I would drink ten full bags of bending water than let Azula rule. I was really tired and hungry luckily I wasn't cold. Katara though, is probably very cold. There wasn't any wood on the island to make a fire and we had no blankets.
"Can you make a fire? It's freezing." She said with a shiver.
"There is no wood to make the fire." I could use the heat from my body to warm her but I bet she would rather jump off a cliff than sleep a yard from me.
"Can't you heat us both, I mean, you are a firebender after all."
"I don't thing I can fire bend all night, I must also sleep too."
"I didn't mean firebend I mean use you natural heat." She started to blush. "You know heat us both up for the night." Pretty soon I felt as if I were blushing too. I just nodded but said nothing. We both lay down, we were about a foot apart but we didn't make and contact. Our back faced each other and no one spoke a word. I closed my eye and waited until I was asleep.
Katara's POV
I said the last thing I would say to any firebender. I was so embarrassed but relieved that he allowed it. I was most glad that he didn't try to do anything… funny. Most guys would take this as an opportunity but lucky for me Zuko wasn't like that. Of course Zuko was already asleep in like 5 minutes but I couldn't sleep. I kept thinking about how the Avatar could still be alive, we may have a chance to win this war! I must concentrate on sleeping. I closed my eyes and I could feel the natural warmth of Zuko's body. I feel if I could get a warm blanket and cuddle it. Itwas so soothing that it put me to sleep.
…
I woke up with the sound of Zuko's firebending training. I realized I missed how warm I was last night. I closed my eyes trying to imagine the warm feeling by Zuko´s touch but to my disappointment it just didn´t feel the same. Stop! Katara stop. This is insane. Sure he saved my life but just because he ´transformed´ from being bad to good doesn´t convince me at all. For what he did for what the Fire Nation did is why I have despised them all. What he says or does isn´t enough for what happened to my mother, nothing would be enough. I started to imagine my mother´s face. I bet most of the Southern Water Tribe has already forgotten how she looked like but I will never forget her. I remembered in that horrifying day I looked right in her eyes. It looked like life was dancing in a blue ocean. In that moment it was like she was letting me know how much she loved Sokka, dad, Gran Gran and me. But then I watched as the blue in her eyes was getting pale and the life was slowly draining out. I shed a tear at the thought of that memory. Some people say I look like my mother; I both hate and love the idea. I hate being compared to her; she had her own beauty like no other. Looking like her reminds me that she is always with me. I got up and my stomach started to growl. I was hungry and dirty since I slept on the ashy floor and haven`t showered in sometime. Luckily we had on black cloths so the stains won`t show. Although Zuko wore some red pants under. I went near the sea and looked at my reflection and I was definitely dirty. Instead of washing my face I was going to bath. I made an ice wall incase Zuko ``accidentally`` saw me, it wasn`t that big but enough to cover me. I also washed my clothes when I finished I put my clothes back on and melted the wall. I dried myself. I finally feel fresh and clean. I sat on the sand and breathed in the warm air. I looked at the sea and saw a little fish. If there are small fish here then there must be even bigger fish out there! I swam as far as I could an put my head in the water. Watertribes people can see better under water. I looked and saw a big cat fish nearby. It was close enough to water bend. I came to surface to breathe air and quickly water bended the area where the cat fish was. Thankfully it was still there. I had it trap in some sort of water bubble. It was moving very fast so I had to keep moving the water. I slowly backed up to get near the shore but I kept most concentration in keeping the fish from escaping. I tried to freeze it into a block of ice. It was getting heavy but I was almost at shore. I lifted the ice higher. It was almost completely ice but it was too heavy. I turned it back to water and with all my strength I through it to shore. It was soaring and it made it to shore but Zuko was in the way. The water splashed in his face and the fish was slapping him all over. They were in a fight and it looked like the fish was winning. I found that Zuko getting beat up by a fish was hilarious until I saw the big red marks it was causing. I bended some water and surrounded the fish with it. I used all my strength that I had left and froze the entire thing! I really needed a rest from wasting all this energy. I was very pleased and surprised with what I done. Maybe I don`t need a master waterbending teacher after all. I ran to Zuko.
``Are you okay? `` I said examining his arms like a mother who found out her child got hurt.
``Well, I wasn`t the best moment I`ve ever had but I`m okay. ``
I bended the water around my hands and healed his injuries. Time past and when I was sure the fish was dead I melted the ice and handed it to Zuko to cook it. In about five minutes the fish was fully cooked. In the South pole it probably take about an hour, well… IF Sokka actually catches a fish more than one time a week and maybe even two weeks. Me and Zuko ate until our stomachs were full. There was still some left over and I dried it so it will last longer. Zuko handed me some tea he made with seaweed. Seaweed tea it the worst tea ever made. Why would he bother making it?
``Zuko, no offence but why did you make seaweed tea? I mean everyone knows it`s the worst tea ever. ``
Zuko rolled his eyes. ``I am aware of that but, my Uncle makes the best tea no matter what kind of tea it is. He even taught me how to make it.`` I looked at it and it had a black color. It smelled… burnt.
``Zuko, what did you you to this tea? It has some sort of blackish color.``
``I think… I burned it.`` He almost whispered.
``How can you burn tea!?``
Even if that was probably one of the most ridiculous thing in the world, I was 93-34% that it was true. We looked at eachother and as if we read eachothers mind we decided to dump away the tea. Knows who what could have happened if we drank Zuko`s ´tea`. I just stayed eated hoping I would recover my strength from all that bending. Even if we were full, Zuko still kept training. If it were me, I would have waited at least 8 minutes because doing anything to sudden would end me throwing up. Of course, I might as well train, I mean, my exercises don`t really involve much moving since I made them up. Also, tonight`s a full moon and I would regain my strenght in know time. I got up and headed for the water. I closed my eyes and concentrated, I waved my hand trying to feel some sort of connection. Finally feeling it, I opened my eyes and I started to lift the water. I swayed my hands slowly and feeling pleased as the water copied my movements. I then tried to bend underwater but I only manage to bend water the size of my thumb. There was a fish nearby so I played with it. It was like playing tag, I would bend the water to touch it but it would swifly dogde it. I wonder if I could copy the fish`s movements with the water. Firebenders learned how to bend with the dragons, say who I can`t be taugth by a fish. Even if it`s not the best idea, I would at least learn something. I studied the fish closely, everytime it moved it would be like as it were divided in half. The upper part would completely move one side while the bottem part would move about 2 seconds after.
I thought about how could I `translate` it with my waterbending. In like two minutes I came up with two tecniques. One is I would dogde swiftly like a fish but faster. Another would be where I control two halves of the water not the same way. It sounds complicated to explian but I could clearly imagined it in my head. I looked for Zuko and he was STILL training. He was like obsest with it. But, it`s not really my buisness to care. It was around two in the afternoon so I had plenty of time.
…
Well, it may have took me all afternoon but I finally perfected it. I surprised me because the other moves I`ve invented took me like a months time. I invented a move where you aim for an attack one someone but when the water is close, it suddently goes around that person and hits him on the back. I know it`s not the best move but come on, I am learning from a fish who doesn`t even know what is going on! Before I realized it, night has already fell and I saw Zuko munching on some fish. I looked at the moon and I feel very strong so strong that I could feel so.. so free and be able to de what I want.
``Come one Zuko! It`s time to go!`` For a second I felt like his mother, although when Sokka is around I always feel like a mother.
I made an ice platform and we were off. I loved the feeling of the wind in my face. Time pasted and not a word was said. The scilened stoped when Zuko called me over and pointed off toward a distance.
``We`ve got company.`` he said in a serious tone. I looked at what he was pointing at and I was getting very pale.
Who do you think has found them? Did you like this story?
