I breathed out, lightly touching the door knob before giving a half-turn, bursting in the room with a gust of air and some fragrance I owned.
"What is it, Gumi?" I smiled. "-Chan." I quickly added. Gotta be friendly.
"Miku-chan!" Gumi beamed. "I just..."
She bit her lip, tapping her foot. "I was... Let's talk!"
My eyelids dropped on their own to a extent out of exasperation.
"Talk?" I echoed.
Gumi looked at me worriedly. Dammit.
I gave her a light, carefree smile. "Sure, but..."
Gumi raised her hands, shaking them.
"O-Oh, I know you're upset, you know? I just... I am too."
Yes, I'm upset. Crying. Yep.
I dropped my smile, gazing into the floorboards between the cracks.
"What's even the point, right?" Gumi chuckled softly.
"Huh?" I looked up at her. She smiled sadly, her eyes growing shiny. Though she irked me, her sudden depressive and negative words intrigued me. Oh, this could prove interesting indeed.
"It's hard to continue with lives like nothing happened, but..." Gumi sighed.
"We have to."
I nodded. So this was some pep-talk? Boring.
"So please talk to me when you can, okay? I want to help, y'know?"
Yeah, yeah. Sure you do.
"Of course, Gumi-chan." I wiped my dry eyes and gave a smile that at first glance seems half-hearted.
I made my way to the staircase, waving goodbye. It was quiet. I mean, I get they're "sad" or whatever, but it's weird. I didn't like it.
Wait a second.
An idea lit in my mind, and I skipped my way down the hall, passing my room and every other rooms, the lights blurry as I run past.
This sudden happiness was so exhilarating, it took my breath away. This was perfect, perfect! Why didn't I think this before? Genius!
I skidded to a halt, catching my uneven breath as I approach the door. I caress the nameplate on it, smiling to myself.
I gave a light knock on the door, grinning. Happiness filled my every being.
The door creaked as it opened ever so slowly. Light flooded into the dark room, and who was concealed in that very abyss of darkness... Was the love of my life.
Nothing else matters now.
"Kaito-kun!" I grinned.
It's just me,
He looked at me with foggy, glass eyes.
And him.
He didn't react, he didn't have any emotion. Any trace of human feeling was removed.
...Why isn't it perfect?
"Kaito...?" I drew closer to him. He flinched.
I frowned. Was something wrong? Why was he so different? Who said something to him?
I put my hand on the doorknob, and it looked like Kaito had lost all his breath. His face drained as he blinked quickly, in a panicked manner.
I opened the door slowly and walked in, Kaito backing up right away and falling backwards.
"What is it, Kaito?" I asked, staring into his eyes. His gorgeous, dark blue eyes.
He breathed out, brushing back his hair and blinking hard.
"Pl-ea-se." He whispered. "J-just, leave- leave me alone...!"
My heart stopped and all I could hear was a everlasting ringing my ears.
"...Huh?"
Why?
Whywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhywhy?
I dropped to my knees as Kaito yelped, scrambling to distance himself from me.
I thrust out my hand, grabbing his scarf. He let out a sharp inhale and a gulp, before facing me with tears in his eyes. The face of pure fear. The look in his eyes was terror.
Was that how he saw me?
Did I make him... Afraid?
"Why?" I asked.
Kaito stared at me in shock.
"Why, after everything I've done?!" I cried, holding tighter to his scarf. Kaito gasped tears spilling down his perfect cheeks.
"I've protected you, why? Why don't you understand?! WHY?!"
Kaito was at loss of breath, he clasped his scarf, pulling it from my grasp.
"B-because-!" He swallowed. "You're insane...! You're really-!"
...
...
In...Sane?
I was?
My hands slipped down on their own, and my head made it's way to fall at my shoulders.
Kaito shouted, rushing out of the room. I sat. I couldn't move- I shouldn't move.
If I don't have Kaito, what am I?
I'm just here.
I'm nothing without him.
I need him.
No matter what.
It someone's fault, isn't it?
I can still help him, I can still protect him.
I brought myself to my feet, then ran out the room, head firmly set in front of me.
Kaito.
If I can still catch him, maybe it's not too late. Maybe he'll understand, maybe if I fix everything, he'll think straight, he'll-
"A-ah!"
I looked up, and see locks of pink hair fly into my direction. I spring backwards, and see Luka steadying herself. She looked around and then at me, the colour draining from her face. She gulped visibly, then smiled, a bead of sweat falling by the side of her face.
"M-Miku-san." She said nervously.
"Nice to... See you."
What is even the point of acting?
I stared at her, my eyes piercing hers. She breathed in while backing away a few steps. She nodded even though I didn't say a word. I stared idly at her. She nervously looked away, then back to me.
"S-so, have you seen... Ir- Rin?"
I slowly turned my head to the side, keeping eye contact.
"I have definitely not seen a Ir-Rin." I said pointedly.
"Unless you have someone else on your mind. I wonder who that is, Hm? Someone that you seem almost afraid, no- terrified to mention."
A whimper escaped Luka's lips as she trembled. Ah, how fun.
"Tell me, Luka." I said, almost in a command. "Who where you thinking of?"
I stepped closer towards her.
"If you don't tell me now..." I lifted my hand and lightly touched her neck, still staring into her dilated eyes. "I'll just have to 'find out' later, hmm?"
Luka breathed shakily before letting out a almost croaked laugh.
"O-oh Miku-san, don't be silly...!" She shook as she waved her hands at me, attempting to cover her face. "Just a silly, silly mistake, huh? Silly!"
She nodded forcefully, and darted back into her room. I heard a swift click as the door shut, obviously a sign she has locked the door.
Showing she is in fear.
(A/N I apologise for being so inactive. The next chapter will come shortly, and it will be the last.)
