A/N: Hi everyone! So… not within, the next couple days like I promised, but it was still quicker right? I've been updating all day, much to the happiness of my readers and it's going to be my fellow Harry Potter fans I make happy next! Enjoy!

Disclaimer: Oh, if only I owned the Marauders. Unfortunately, they belong to J.K. Rowling.

James POV: Luckily, Madam Pomfrey released me from the infirmary Saturday morning as promised. Although, the day I'd spent there hadn't been boring at all, seeing as Lily had spent most of the day there with me just chattering away. It was getting increasingly difficult not to kiss her.

However, I was glad Lily didn't have to fulfill her promise of staying in the infirmary all day with me today. I doubt it would be very romantic with Madam Pomfrey dithering around almost constantly.

As soon as she'd released me I'd bolted, jumping staircases as they moved in my haste to make it to Gryffindor Tower. Once inside, I ran into the dormitory and started tearing through my trunk looking for something suitable to wear, as it was now the beginning of October.

"Woah mate, what's the rush?" Padfoot's groggy voice came from the bed next to mine. I went red and hardly even turned around to look at him. It was eight o'clock in the morning and here I was making a ruckus. Usually, I'm not even up until ten on a Saturday, so my eagerness must've further confused the already sleepy and confused Sirius.

Even though I was embarrassed at being caught, I couldn't stop my jumpiness. "C'mon Padfoot, it's a beautiful day and we're burning daylight! Wake the others!"

He groaned, already sounding annoyed. "But it's Saturday. We can't head to Hogsmeade for another four hours. Why are we getting up?"

"Because," I said slyly, carefully choosing my next words. "Think of how much more mischief you can cause to the Slytherins if you bombard them all at once at the start of breakfast! You could put a potion in Regulus's milk so that he turns into a rat, and then levitate him all around the Great Hall!"

Hearing that woke him up immediately and he had a hungry look in his eyes. He threw his pillow across the room so that it hit Moony in the head. "Up and at 'em Moony, we've got some Slyhterin's to torture!"

He groaned as well and sat up, hair disheveled and looking fairly pissed off. "Why in the bloody hell are you up right now?" he shouted exasperatedly.

"Well James here was running around the room tearing through his clothes spouting some rubbish about burning daylight and tormenting my brother so naturally when I heard that I just had to wake up and seize the day my dear Moony," Sirius explained it as though it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Remus shot me an amused glance for a split second when he thought I wasn't looking then shook his head at Padfoot. "Well, alright then," he sighed. "But really mates, after today, you really need to let me get my rest. Full moon's next week and we all know I won't be able to sleep then," he said darkly.

We both shuddered on his behalf. Even though we now had our Animagus forms down, we knew how much Remus went through, and none of us could imagine ever being in that much pain.

About thirty minutes later we had Wormtail up and we were all dressed and ready to go eat in another ten.

I noticed Remus slowing down as we made our way down the staircases. Catching the pointed look he was giving me, I allowed Padfoot and Wormtail to fall ahead as I waited for Moony to catch up with me. When he did, he lowered his voice. "So, are you ready for today?"

That question made me grateful that I'd told Remus about my plans with Lily and not Sirius or Peter. They would have torn the mickey out of me with teasing if they knew how nervous I was. "Honestly mate," I said contemplating how to answer. "I've never been this nervous. My legs shake when I think about later, my palms get sweaty and I get a little nauseous. Is that normal?"

He chuckled. "I dunno why you're asking me. Padfoot's the one experienced in the area of females. It's not like I can tell you how not to screw up."

"I suppose," I relented. "But you know Lily. You patrol with her all the time for your prefect stuff. Can't you tell me anything I should or shouldn't do?"

"Actually you're doing exactly what I would tell you to do," he said after thinking for a moment. "If you still acted like that pompous git that put on a front to impress her, I'd have a heck of a lot more advice to give. But it seems you've figured out that's not what you need to do with her, James. All I can tell you is keep being the way you've been. Compassionate, a good listener, helpful, much like you are when one of us has a problem, though you'll never admit it to anyone else," he chortled good naturedly, punching me in the shoulder and I laughed along with him.

"Oh and make sure to be a gentleman and a little romantic, it may help as she always likes to read those kinds of books. Now that, I think you'll have to work on, as you're never romantic or a gentleman when you're with us."

"Very funny," I retorted. "Sure you still fancy Auror as your career path, Moony? Maybe you should be a comedian at Gringotts instead. I hear goblins thoroughly enjoy dry-witted humor."

"I've considered that actually," he said in all seriousness. "But really mate, just be yourself around Lily even though you're nervous. She likes you best that way."

"You think so?"

"She told me so."

"Thanks Moony, it really means a lot that you're helping me," I smiled. "It's just… there's one other thing bugging me."

"What's that?"

"What happens when Snape finds out? What do you think he's going to do?"

A cloud seemed to pass over his face then. "I dunno," but if he ever seems like he's going to be looking for her today, I'll distract him?"

"Are you sure?" I asked, flabbergasted. "If you distracted him how I would, you'd be risking your prefect status."

"It's worth it," he assured me. "Besides, McGonagall would never believe his sliminess if he told her I did it. I'm her favorite student and she hates him."

I chuckled and threw an arm nonchalantly around my friend's shoulders, praying to Godric Gryffindor that he deemed me brave enough to handle today.

A/N: Okay I lied, date is going to end up in the next chapter after all, as it is late here. Do you guys think Snape is going to show up at the date? And will Padfoot and Wormy find out? Questions, questions. Let me know what you think in a review and I should be back by Friday! I love you guys!

Thanks for Reading
