Chapter 7: Rin?
Hana's POV
It has been a while since I was engulfed by the white light. I started to wake up after being out cold for who knows how long. I slowly opened my eyes and looked up to cloudy sky above me. I was trying to remember everything that just happened. I realized I fell down in the well.
"Ouch, that fall really hurt. Glad I didn't break anything," I thought. I got to my feet and started to climb up and out of the deep damp well. It was just lightly drizzling when I was fully out and got to my feet.
"What was that white light? I don't think it was lightening because it would of seriously injured or killed me," I thought. Brushing the mud off myself, I started to walk the path again. I was noticing something was very off after walking for several minutes.
"Where are the trail signs at? I know there was one right around here," I said. I wasn't to worried. After walking for several hundred feet, I heard rustling in the bushes. It startled me a little. I noticed a little squirrel went running along the grass. I had to laugh at myself for getting scared over a little rodent. Soon my heart sank in to my stomach. I heard an animal growling across from the river. The sound made me freeze in fear. This sound was nothing like I've heard before. It sounded big and very mad. I slowly moved in the opposite direction into the trees. I hoped that whatever it was wouldn't cross the river. I moved through the brush of the trees when the sound started to go away. I soon could hear the new sound of fast moving water. I walked out of the trees and came to a stop. I was shocked at what was in front of me.
"Wow," was all I said. I took extra precaution and being very careful I looked down. I saw a very dangerous river with fast moving white water rapids. I watched a huge tree come down the river. I noticed it go on for about another few hundred feet. I watched it go over a massive waterfall.
"I need to be careful and watch my step...," I thought. The sound of the animal was back. This time it wasn't alone. It had friends. I started to walked the path away from the falls. I could still hear the growling and now I heard running paws behind me. I began running myself. I ran as fast as my legs would let me. I turned my head and saw the most scariest thing ever.
"Coyotes? Omg I need to get out of here," I thought. Running with all my might I came to a dead stop. I stood at the edge of a cliff. I turned around and saw that I was surrounded by ten coyotes. I soon heard a male voice in the darkness of the trees.
"My, my what a beauty you are," he called out. I looked in the direction of the forest where the voice was coming from. All I saw were two blood red eyes looking right at me. What the hell am I staring at?. Am I looking at legendary beast of some sort?.
"Ah, to shy to speak? Well maybe when my pack attacks you I'll get to hear your screams," He said. I soon heard him snap his fingers. I watched all ten coyotes in front of me lowered themselves. They were getting ready to pounce when the cliff beneath my feet gave way.
"Ahhhhh" I screamed. I soon fell into the fast moving river.
It felt like a long time when I finally came back up for air. But the white water rapids were to strong for me. I was being drugged under the cold water. I began to panic when I heard the sound of the falls in front of me. I was getting close to the falls when I felt my body getting bashed into everything in my path. I could also feel the gashes opening all over my body. With all my might I wasn't able to grab ahold of anything. I soon went over the misty falls.
Not even few minutes later I managed to get my head up and out of the water. I swam towards a rocky shore shaded by trees. I'm so thankful my father taught me how to swim. I crawled over top of the rocks for a few feet with all my strength. I looked around me and felt my world go dark. While I was laying here I didn't realize I wasn't far from my home. My home from my past memories. As I laid here I could feel the rain picking up and the sound of thunder out in the distance. I soon passed out.
Western Steps
The sky grew dark and gloomy over the Western Steps. Lord Sesshomaru walked out of his office and headed for the kitchen to get his breakfast. He took the longer way around when he stopped in front of Rin's room. He placed a hand on her door. He hasn't entered her room since the day she disappeared ten years ago.
"It's been ten years since you disappeared. I wonder if your still alive. If you are I hope your doing well," thinking to himself. Regaining his thoughts he continued on his way towards the kitchen for his breakfast.
After he ate Sesshomaru began to walk back to his office. Soon he noticed a flash of white light far outside the castle. He eyed it for a few moments. Soon he called for the little green toad.
"Jaken?" Calling for his henchmen. Not having to wait the little green toad came running up. He bowed before his lord before he spoke.
"Yes, milord?" The little green toad asked. Sesshomaru looked down to his henchman.
"Go fetch Au Un. We're leaving the castle to investigate something," Sessohmaru ordered. He then headed towards the front gate.
"Yes milord, I'll be right on it," Jaken said. He headed over to the stalls and walked a few feet inside. Then he called for the two headed dragon.
"Au Un wake up Lord Sesshomaru needs us," Jaken screeched. Hearing the little green toad Au Un ran out of the stalls before he could get to them.
The trio finally made it to where the light source when the rain picked up. They all looked down the well when Jaken spoke up first.
"What are we investigating mirlord?" Jaken asked. He walked up next to Sesshomaru's side. Sesshomaru ignored Jaken. He could smell a coyote demon hunting a human female several hundred feet in the woods. He didn't care about the human female. She was noting but food to the wilderness. He was pissed off that an unwelcome coyote demon was hunting on his lands. He took off in the general direction of the trees to go after the trespasser and his pack. The little green soon cried out for him.
"Lord Sesshomaru wait for us," Jaken shouted. He and Au Un ran after him.
Sesshomaru made it passed the trees to the cliffs edge. He started running the same path the coyote demon was going after the girl. Getting close to where they were he heard the girls screams.
"Ahhhh" he heard. He sensed she went over the cliff into the fast moving river.
"She won't survive that" thinking to himself. He made it to where their scent grew stronger. But they were gone by the time he got there.
Jaken kept running in the same direction of his lord along the cliffs edge. He then realized Au Un had disappeared and was no longer behind him
"Au Un where did you go you stupid dragon. Come back here at once," he cried out. When Au Un didn't listen he went to find the dragon himself.
Au Un found themselves walking down a steep hill along a rocky riverbed. He smelt a hurt human female near by. They walked for several hundred feet and found the human girl. She was laying along the rocky beach. Being ever so quiet they walked over to the human. They both started to sniff her sleeping form. Picking up her scent they realized who she was. They laid up against her and rested their heads on top of her back. They wanted to keep her warm as the rain kept coming down.
"Au Un...Au Un come back here at once this instant," Jaken cried out again. While he was searching he noticed Lord Sesshomaru walking through the trees. He called out to his lord.
"Milord, that pathetic dragon took off. Now I can't find them anywhere" Jaken said. He ignored him. Sesshomaru continued walking towards the sound of the waterfall. He spoke very quickly.
"Au Un's down by the waterfall Jaken," Sesshomaru said. Both made their way down the same path the two headed dragon took. He already knew why Au Un was down there. But Sesshomaru has no idea he's going to be reunited with someone from his past.
Sesshomaru's POV
We were walking the same path Au Un took. I began to sense the same human female that Au Un was after.
"So she survived the fall? Why would Au Un be so curious about a pathetic human girl?" I thought. Walking along the rocky beach I saw Au Un laying up against the girl. They were trying to keep her warm. Pathetic to try and keep her alive. She'll die soon anyway.
"Au Un let's go don't worry about her. She's nothing but a worthless human," I called out. When they didn't move I went over to grab their reins. I looked down to the girl when something along the girls neck caught my eye. This can't be who I think it is?. I let go of the reins and knelt down. I moved the girls hair out of the way. I saw the bite marks on her neck.
"Rin?" I said. Removing the odd bag from her back. I very carefully turned her over to get a better look at her face. Doing that her scent started to come off of her. I could smell the familiar blood. I wiped her face with my clawed hand being very careful. I didn't want my poison claws to scratch her. I realized this girl was Rin.
"Rin where have you been these last ten years?" I thought. I didn't want that same demon who was hunting Rin to come back for her. I very carefully picked her up bridal style with both arms. I need to get Rin back to the castle to have her injuries taken care of. I looked to her and couldn't figure out how she survived the fall from the cliff. Even from the waterfall. I soon heard Jaken running to my side. He soon got very loud.
"Lord Sessohmaru, what are you doing with that pathetic human girl? Want me to help you get rid of her?" he screeched. I watched as he swung his staff around. I eyed him with anger. How dare he threaten to harm Rin. I raised my voice towards him.
"If you harm Rin with your staff Jaken! I'll kill you," I said aggressively. I placed Rin on top of Au Un's back. Then I went back over and grabbed her bag and strapped it on Au Un. I soon grab their reins and spoke up.
"Lets go before she comes to," I informed them. I walked us back in the direction of my home.
Once back inside my castle I picked Rin back up. I then carried her to the medic ward. I needed to get her medical attention fast. I walked inside were the cat demon who's in charge of the building helped me place Rin on the bed.
"Do want you can for her injuries. She fell from the cliff and also the waterfall. I also have a feeling she may got hit by a few boulders and trees. Have one of your helpers come and get me when you have her fixed up. Then I'll bring Rin to her room," I order. I watched as she bowed to me and spoke.
"Yes milord," she said. I don't know why I have a cat demon in my castle. But they told me she's good at healing injuries. Once the ordered was made I left to go back to my office. I need to find out where Rin has been these last ten years. I could smell her scent of lavenders on my kimono. I missed her scent dearly. Losing my train of thought I went back to my work.
Hana's POV
I was coming to again when I felt a hot damp cloth lay across my forehead. I started to open my eyes slowly to a bright lit room.
"A lit room? Am I in the hospital?" Thinking to myself. My body was hurting so bad that I could hardly move. I saw the color of white in my peripheral vision.
"A nurse is near by? I must be in the hospital," Thinking to myself again. When I could fully open my eyes I managed to turn my head slightly. I needed to speak to her...this...wasn't...a...nurse. What I was staring at looked like a cat but in human form. I was about to scream when she placed her hand over my mouth.
"Miss Rin I suggest you do not scream. We don't need Lord Sesshomaru to come bursting in here now do we," She said. I don't care whoever this Lord Sesshomaru was. The thing that caught my attention was the name she called me.
"Excuse...what did you...you call me?" I asked. I was in so much pain that talking made it worse.
"I called you Rin miss. It's your name is it not?" She asked. I felt her take the rag off my forehead. She placed it back in a bowl of hot water.
"No it's...not...my name...my name...is Hana," was all I could get out. The pain was so intense I wanted to scream.
"Are you still hurting Miss Rin?" The demon cat asked. I was getting annoyed she was calling me that name.
"Yes...I'm...hurting...all...over. Where...where...am...I?" I asked. The cat demon placed the same hot wet cloth on my forehead again.
"Your in the castle of the Western Steps Miss Rin. This place has been your home for over ten years," She said. I was starting to pass out again. I was slowly fading into a deep sleep when the sound of the door opened. Soon I heard a male voice.
"How is she?" a male voice asked. I'm afraid to try and open my eyes. I heard the cat demon talk again.
"She's still in a bit of pain. She woke up and spoke for a few minutes. But she passed back out just before you came in," the cat demon said.
"I see. I'll move Rin now to her room. You can continue taking care of her in there," the male voice said. I soon felt myself being picked up. It hurt when I was being carried. But I kept myself relaxed till we came to a stop. I didn't realize how long I was being carried for. Not even a few minutes later the sound of a door opened. He walked us inside. Then very soon I felt the comfort of a bed underneath me.
"Come get me this time when she is fully awake and dressed," he said. I heard the door open and close again. The cat demon was at my side once again. She placed the same wet cloth to my forehead that I was finally able to fall into a deep sleep.
Sesshomaru's POV
It has been several days since I brought Rin back and she still remains unconscious. When Au Un found her along the rocky shore I thought he was protecting a pathetic human. I told myself she is worthless and will die just like all humans do. But when I realized it was Rin I took back what I said. Rin was the only human I could handle being around. As I sat here I began to think very hard.
"Ten years ago when Rin was just ten, she vanished through the well by a flash of white light. Then she is brought back the same way? It doesnt make sense. She was no longer a child that I remember. She's now a young adult. When she's fully awake I will confront her and demand to know where she's been these last ten years," I thought.
Rin will be heavily guarded while she's here. She will not be allowed to go outside the castle gates. The only one to allow to accompany her outside will be me. I'll have Jaken on stand by if needed. Plus Au Un. I can't take the chance of something happening to her again.
Hana's POV
The pain had finally left my body and I was able to move on my own. I opened up my eyes to a dark room. I think I'm in a place called the western steps. But I can't remember what I was told. Sitting up in bed I looked around.
"This room is a bit dark from the room I was in before," I thought. How long have I been out for? Soon I heard the cat demon talk.
"Good to see your finally awake again Miss Rin. How are you feeling?" She asked me. Was getting tired of her calling me that name.
"I'm feeling okay and please my name is Hana. How long have I been out for?" I asked. I also tried to remind her but she ignored it.
"Well Miss Rin, if your feeling better why don't we get you washed and dressed. You've been asleep for a week," she said. A week? I must of been hurt bad. Getting out of bed she led me to a personal wash room. I found a tub filled with hot water. I watched as she closed a divider behind us. I looked down to take off each layer of my clothes when I realized I wasn't in them anymore. I was in a white blood stained kimono.
"Where are my clothes?" I asked. I looked all over the wash room and couldn't find them.
"They were destroyed. I took out everything you had in the pockets and placed them in your bag. Now Miss Rin please take off your robes and step in the water before it gets cold," she ordered. Walking over to the mirror I removed my slightly blood stained white kimono. I saw that I had my on bra and underwear. They to had bloodstains on them. But that's not what worried me, my lavender necklace was gone.
"Did you remove my necklace when you removed my clothes?" I asked. I started to get concern. She looked at me like I was crazy.
"No Miss Rin. You had no such thing on you when you were found. Now please let's get you washed," being ever so demanding again. After getting my hot bath I walked back into my room to find my bag next to the futon. Digging through it I grabbed a new bra and underwear. I put them both on. I was gonna grab a new outfit when the cat demon came in. I saw she was holding what looked like to be pink silk.
"Okay Miss Rin lets get you dressed," she said. I watched her unfolded a long silk pink kimono with hints of silver flowers. She helped me put it on and also tied the fabric together. Then she lead me over to a vanity and styled my hair into a tight updo.
"Owww," I thought. They way she styled my hair hurt like hell. How do girls tolerate this pain?. She then pulled me by the hand and walked us out the door. Then she lead me down a long pathway past several buildings. We came to a stop where I saw a sign that read meeting room. She opened the door for me to walk in. She spoke up again.
"Wait here for now. Lord Sesshomaru will be with you shortly," she said. Then she left really quick. The room was very empty. But it did have a few old decorations. There were a few paintings that I learnt about in school. I was so lost in thought when I heard the sound of a steady stream near by. Turning my head I saw that the back door was opened. Hoping Lord Sesshomaru wouldn't mind, I stepped out on to the patio. I saw the most beautiful garden I've ever seen. There were so many different colorful flowers and many different trees that spread out all over. I walked over to a group of flowers and I knelt down before them.
"Such pretty lavenders," whispering to myself. I was so lost in thought when I realized someone was behind me. Standing back up I turned around. I was in shock again when I saw another demon. This demon was different from the cat demon I met earlier. This demon who stood before me had long silver hair and several markings on his face. I noticed he had piercing golden eyes. I was unable to move. He sauntered towards me with a serious look on his face. Standing there I started having a flash back from a dream I once had. I placed a hand to my head and knelt down in pain. The male demon stood in front of me.
Sesshomaru's POV
I was busy with my work when the medic caretaker's aid knocked on my door.
"Yes?" I called out. Another cat demon opened the door and walked in.
"Excuse me milord, but she's awake. She's waiting for you in the meeting room," she said. I didn't respond. I went around her and headed for the building. I opened the door and stood in the doorway.
"She's not here?" I thought. I walked in and I caught her scent going outside. Walking across the room and out on to the patio I saw her. She was kneeling down in front of the flowers. But not just any flowers they were lavenders. Her favorite flower. A few moments later she must of sensed my presence. I watched her stand back up and turned to face me. I could tell she was in shock because she wouldn't move an inch. She's looking at me like she doesn't recognize me. I walked towards her. I watched Rin place a hand to her head and knelt down. I stood right in front of her.
Hana's POV
This flash back I was having was always the same. It was a little girl running through a field of flowers with a little green toad. She was also being followed by two headed dragon. Then the same male voice would call out to whoever Rin was. He would tell her not go to far. She would turn to see two golden eyes coming from the darkness of the trees. She then would call out his name while running to him. Then a bolt of white flashed to where my dream would end. What were these dreams telling me? All I know for myself it was getting pretty annoying. I was still kneeling on the ground when he talked.
"Rin, are you still in pain?" He asked. I was getting pretty annoyed being called that name.
"It's just a headache. My names is not Rin, it's Hana. I don't know why I'm being called that," I said. He didn't respond. I was still kneeling down on the ground when I spoke up again.
"Why was I brought here?" I asked. I didn't care to look up to him.
"I brought you back here because I found you hurt and unconscious. You fell from the cliff and waterfall Rin. While your here, you are not allowed to leave the castle grounds without me with you. I don't need you to disappear for another ten years?" he informed me. Something he said caught me off guard. I stood back up and asked.
"What do you mean by ten years?" I asked. He looked at me with a stern look. I remained still when he answered my question.
"You disappeared ten years ago after a white light engulfed you from a well," he said. I watched as he pointed in the general direction it was in.
"Wait did he say white light?" I thought. I remember a white light shot up from under me when I ran away days ago. The well he is speaking of is the same well I was found in as a child. Standing there, I was still looking in the direction of the well. I started to think very hard.
"I need to get away from here without them noticing. The demon who is standing before me has no right to keep me prisoner here. What the hell is the western steps anyway? I don't remember learning about that in school. This must be one of those Alice In Wonderland type dreams. But I remember the horrible pain I had from being banged up by the river. So was that white light some time travel thing?" I thought. I was thinking to hard when I heard him speak up again.
"Rin, have I made myself clear? You are not allowed to go outside the castle under any circumstances. Do you understand?" He said. Okay. Okay now I was getting fed up being called Rin. Why do I keep getting called that name? I felt my blood starting to boil but I kept my composure.
"Would you please stop calling me Rin. I've said it before my name is Hana. Plus you have no right to keep me within these castle walls. I have the right to leave and I will. I dare you to try and stop me," I said. I was getting ready to walk towards to the gate when I felt my wrist being gripped. I was spun around really fast. I then felt my chin being gripped by the demon. Not this again. All I could see was anger in his golden eyes. What the hell is his deal? I tried to squirm from his grip, but he was to strong.
"If you step outside the castle you will die. If I find out that you go outside this gate and run I will hunt you down myself. I will not be afraid to kill you with my poison claws Rin. You'll be happy to die at my hands than some other demon. It will be quick and painless. A demon less powerful than me will take their time and torture you. They will leave you to die a slow and painful death. There are humans who desire girls like you and they will capture you. They will sell you for your body and trust me you will not like that," he said. I was getting kind of scared. But I'm still going to make an escape if he likes it or not. He finally let go of my chin and wrist when he spoke up again.
"You will join me later for dinner. I will not take no for answer. Jaken will come get you when it's time. After dinner you will tell me where you've been these last then years. When that time comes you are permitted to walk inside the castle grounds. Just remember that I will kill you if you step outside" he said.
I watched as he turned on his heals and left. I slowly sank my knees to the ground and placed my head into my hands. I didn't care if I got this kimono dirty. I was holding back my tears. I didn't want to cry. I seriously need to get out of here and run. I started to hear someone coming towards me and I didn't care to look up.
"Miss Rin, are you hungry? We have a light lunch set up for you in your room," a female voice said. Looking up I saw another demon and I'm not sure what type of demon she is.
"Lunch? When was the last time I ate? I think the last time I had food was when I hung out with my best friends," I thought. Food does sound good right now, but I don't feel like eating anything. I know I won't be having dinner with the demon Sesshomaru. I stood back up so I could reply back to the female demon.
"I'm not hungry. My name is Hana not Rin," I said. She just stared at me. How many times am I going to have to repeat myself about the name.
"But Miss Rin, Lord Sesshomaru asked us to make sure you eat something light," she said. He's gonna be disappointed that I'm not gonna eat. I didn't care either.
"I'm refusing to eat. I will not be joining him for dinner ," I said. I didn't care about eating. The only thing I cared about was to find my necklace. Then I would get the hell away from here. Looking at the demon I don't think she was happy with my answer.
"You cannot refuse an order from your lord. You are to do as you are told. Lord Sesshomaru doesn't take kindly to rudeness from anyone. Especially from a human girl like you," she said. It doesn't matter to me. I rather die from starvation then eat with him. She left without another word to me. I don't care that I pissed her off.
It was a few hours later that I was now back in the same sleeping courters. I still refused to eat what they left me for lunch. I changed out of the kimono and got back into my normal clothes. I was happy they weren't ruined. They were a lot more comfy then the kimono. I even took my hair out of that crazy updo and put it into a ponytail. I was sitting with my back against the wall for a really long time. I wrapped my arms around my knees and hid my face. I noticed the sun has fully set when I heard someone walking toward the room I was in. I didn't care to look or speak if they came in here. Soon the door opened and all I heard was squeaking.
"Rin it's time for you to join Lord Sesshomaru for dinner. What on earth are you wearing? Change out of those clothes at once. Lord Sesshomaru doesn't like tardiness so hurry up," the voice said. I turned to see a little green toad. I refused to move from the order he gave me. I turned my head away but spoke briefly.
"I will not join him for dinner. Tell him I rather starve to death," I said quickly. I was looking across the room when I heard the green toad again.
"You insolent little brat. How dare you disobey an order. You will come with me at once," he shouted. I still refused to move from my spot. I found his voice to be really annoying.
"No I refuse to move. Now leave me alone," I said. I could tell he wasn't happy and I didn't care. Soon I heard him leave and shut the door. I don't take orders from anyone. I really need to come up with a strategy and figure a way out of here.
After several minutes I could hear heavy walking coming towards the room. I soon heard the door slam open that it caused me to jump. I turn to my left and met the two golden eyes of the demon from earlier. Without realizing it he gripped my arm and brought me to my feet. He was very angry.
"Rin you know better not to disobey an order. When I tell you to do something you do it. You were order to have dinner with me and you refused to show up. I don't take kindly to that. You'll be coming with me now," he said. I felt him pulling my arm and dragging me outside the room.
"No, I refuse to eat dinner with you or anyone else here. I will not eat while you hold me captive," I said angrily. I felt his grip getting tighter. I knew he was mad but I didn't care. All these orders were bringing back the memories when I was told that I had to marry that bastard Eito. I am a human being and I have the right to put my foot down. We both gave each other stern looks as we were both mad.
"I told you I will not take no for an answer Rin. You will eat with me and that's final," he said.
"No I refuse to take orders from anyone. I stopped taking orders after I ran away...," I said. I should of kept my mouth shut. It's none of his business why I ran away. I soon felt myself being placed up against the wall. Plus my chin being gripped again. I'm getting tired of guys putting their hands on me.
"Rin, what do you mean you ran away?" He asked. I looked to see he still had a stern look on his face.
"It's none of your business why I ran away," I said angrily. I don't even know this guy. I feel like he's going to want to know my whole life story. I could tell he didn't like my response.
"I'm not letting you go till you tell me Rin," he demanded. That's it I've had it.
"I TOLD YOU IT'S NONE OF YOUR DAMN BUSINESS. STOP CALLING ME THAT DAMN NAME. NOW LET ME GO," I shouted. I was getting ready to use my free hand to hit him. I guess he saw my movement. Soon I felt myself being placed on the ground with both my arms above my head. I felt his knee holding both legs into place. I saw him hold his free hand above me as it was glowing green. I was starting to get scared when I saw his eyes go red. He even bared his fangs to me. I felt my heart pick up in speed and my breathing was getting heavy. A few seconds later I was brought back to my feet and I was thrown back into the room. That hurt a lot. I turned to look up at him.
"Don't you ever raise your voice or hand at me ever again Rin. If you don't want to eat then you can starve. Your still forbidden to leave the castle grounds," he said angrily. I watched as he slammed the door. I could tell he stormed off. I sat up onto my knees when I felt the tears steaming down my face. I have never been shoved by a guy before.
My throat really felt dry as I got up and went over to my bag. I pulled off the water bottle and took a few sips of water from it. It felt good to have something in my system. Even though it was just only water. I took a seat on the futon thinking of ways to get away from here. If I do manage to escape, the first thing to do is find my necklace. I just pray someone else doesn't find it. I left my water bottle by my bed just in case I get thirsty again. I laid my head down because I was tired. I soon fell asleep pretty quick.
Sesshomaru's POV
I stormed back into my office in a very foul mood after what Rin almost did. How dare she try to hit me. She was never like this. I came close to using my poison claws to a point I would of killed her. All I know is Rin has changed these past ten years. There is a few big question still on my mind.
"How does she not recognize her own name? How does she not recognize me? She acts like she lost her memory," I thought. Once I cool down, I'll go back to her room and demanded answers from her. Till that time comes I'll continue on with work.
After an hour I headed back towards her room. I still need to know where's she been these last ten years. Once I was near her door I could pick up her slow breathing.
"She must of fallen asleep," I said quietly.
Carefully opening the door I found her fast asleep on her bed. I maneuvered over to her sleeping form and knelt down beside her. I noticed her hair was covering her face that I pulled it back. It looked like she was crying because her eyes were swollen. I've noticed Rin's face has matured over the years. Not wanting to wake her up, I rubbed the back of fingers against her cheek. I noticed how much of a rosy red tint they held. I then moved my thumb to her lips as they felt so soft to the touch. Curiosity got the best of me that I lowered my lips till they hovered over hers. I came close to claiming her lips when I noticed she started to stir in her sleep. I stood up and walked back outside. I shut her door and headed back to my office.
"I can't believe what I almost did," I thought. I told myself I would never be like father and idiot half-brother. I refuse to fall in love with a human girl.
I brought my fingers to my lips as I could almost taste Rin's scent. Her scent was so potent it was also inviting. I wanted to take in Rin's scent even more. I wanted to place my lips upon hers so I could claim her as mine. Coming out of thought I continued on with my work.
