Chapter 8

Wen had been the only one that didn't sleep during the long flight from Detroit back to their hometown because all what he could think about from the take off till the Landing of their Plane was that one thing: How bad was the medical condition of his father really? One thing was for sure he really needed to put the small differences that he still had with Sydney aside for now at least, because she was definitely as concerned about his father as he was. Holding tightly onto Wen's hand Olivia left the Plane together with Wen shortly after Charlie and Stella, Wen was also thankful for all the support that he had received from the Band because he didn't know if he would make it through this difficult time without them.

A few minutes later the Band finally reached the Arrivals Hall, where they waited for their baggage to arrive but as expected it was quite hard for Wen to concentrate on the baggage claim as he was in the hospital with his thoughts the entire time. Olivia felt a little bit helpless right now as she wanted Wen to feel better, but she didn't know how it would be possible to make this depressing situation a little bit more bearable for him and it kind of bothered her so much right at this moment. She was so much concentrated on her thoughts that she almost missed to grab suitcase but was able to get out of her trance just in time to get it and also thought right at this moment that she just needed to be by his side at this difficult time and give him all the emotional support that she could offer him. As Wen and the rest of the Band had finally got all their baggage they left the Airport, said their goodbyes before they parted ways now and the only two that stayed behind were Olivia and Wen who watched the two Cabs drive away before they got themselves their own cab that would drive them to the hospital.

After a couple of minutes of silence on the drive to the hospital Olivia said: "Do you really think that I should be with you and Sydney in the hospital at your father's hospital bed? Don't get me wrong it's definitely not the case that I wouldn't want to do it, but the whole thing is definitely a family thing and I don't think if I really belong there." Olivia had felt really torn about what to do in this situation that was very new to her, because never before had she been the one to give some emotional support for anybody as emotional situations like this had never been her strong suit. Wen just looked at her for a few minutes and took her hands into his as he said: "Don't be silly Olive, because to me you're already part of my family even if our relationship is still so fresh so of course you belong with me at my side at my father's hospital bed." Instead of saying anything in response she just kissed him on his forehead, being so thankful for the fact that he would always find the right words to say especially in the delicate situations like this one.

Meanwhile Charlie and Stella were thinking about what to do with their free time but like Scott and Mo they also hoped that Wen's father would be okay again very soon: "So maybe we could see a movie together, I'm very confident that there's one movie that we can agree on watching in the cinema."

"That sounds good to me, but we should also check in with Wen from time to time as the Band really needs to stick together in this situation that is so difficult for him to handle and where he needs to know that the rest of the Band also supports him the whole time." Stella replied with a thoughtful look on her face, which was an unusual sight to see as the Lemonade Mouth Guitarist was known as being very feisty the most of the time.

Looking at their intertwined hands for a short moment, she couldn't help but still think how surreal that whole relationship with Charlie still was to her as the Lemonade Mouth drummer had such a different personality than her: He was very shy when it came to flirting with girls but she guessed that this old saying about opposites attract each other was indeed true.

Charlie on the other hand couldn't believe his luck; he indeed had secretly romanticized Stella for quite some time and knowing that she had felt the same way the entire time had made him feel a little surprised but also very happy at the same time even if she maybe wasn't the ideal daughter in law to present your parents to be honest.

But Charlie figured that his parents would get used to her as being the little bit out of the ordinary girlfriend of their son. Meanwhile in the Cab that Scott and Mo shared on their ride home, the Lemonade Mouth Bassist was feeling kind of torn about this unplanned break during the tour: Of course she felt so sorry for Wen, as the doctors were fighting for the life of the badly injured Mister Gifford but on the other side she didn't look forward to see her father again this soon. She had been glad to not be forced to hide her feelings for the man she loved so much this entire time the Band was touring but now this all changed with being back home this early, as her strict father still wasn't ready to give up the whole idea of a arranged marriage for his only daughter. The only good thing was that at least her mother was okay with her daughter going her own way: Choosing the man that she also wanted to marry some time in future instead of letting the Indian tradition rule over every aspect of her life.
