(Harry's POV)

At six am sharp Harry awoke to the sound of his alarm going off.

Groaning could be heard from the other bed across from him as Ron sat up and looked around groggily. Rubbing his hand up and down his face he looked over to Harry who was already up and preparing what he was going to wear for the day.

"What time is it?" Ron asked whilst suppressing a yawn.

"Six." Harry replied shortly.

Placing his school uniform on the end of his bed. It was the first day of lessons, and not just any lessons, but magic lessons, and he had another several years of magic lessons to go.

Harry could hardly comprehend it, it seemed so surreal, like perhaps the last few days, months even were just a dream.

"Six!" Ron's indignant voice cut through Harry's musings.

"Why did you set your alarm for six!?"

"Because," Harry began, as he started to gather his washing items and uniform, and then start to make his way over to the bathroom, "It's the first day of lessons; this morning when we are in the hall we shall be receiving are time tables for said lessons. The earlier we are there, the earlier we receive are time table, meaning the more time we will have to find out exactly where are lessons are being held."

Ron mouthed the word 'Oh' just as Harry closed the door to the bathroom.

Turning the shower taps on, Harry watched as the bathroom soon filled up with steam from the shower, he could just barely hold back a soft moan as he stepped under the spray of hot water, it was just the thing he needed to wake him up.

Once again he found himself in utter disbelief that this was happening, that he was at a school for witchcraft and wizardry.

Butterflies fluttered about in his stomach, he was both anxious and excited to begin his lessons, there was so much to learn, and not just from the books and teachers but from the other students too, he found them all so... interesting.

"This is where you will spend the next seven years of your life," The head boy said as he showed the boys to their room's. "And unlike the other houses where you would all have to share a room, you'll only need to share with one other persons. So buddy up and I'll take you to your rooms."

Once everyone was in pairs the head boy, who Harry soon learned was named Peauce, lead them up the stairs and a long the hallway on the left side and began to assign each pair a room.

Soon everyone had been shown their room till finally only Harry and Ron remained.

Coming up to the dorm at the very end of the hallway the head boy stopped. Opening the door he gestured for both boys to go inside.

"This is your dorm room now for the next seven years, decorate it however you please, and like I suggested to the other boys, put up some wards to protect your belongings ect ect; also know that the person you have chosen to be paired up with now will be the person you will share with for the next seven years, so try not to get into any fights with each other otherwise life can be quite difficult not to mention awkward, and there is to be no room swapping or even 'buddy' swapping."

Harry couldn't help but think that this was quite an odd set up, why yes it was all good to have your own space and such, but wouldn't sharing a dorm with a bunch of other children your own age help with socialising? Not to mention make them feel more at ease, knowing that they were all in the same situation.

Sure they've all meet before, (at one point or another) but they don't really know each other, even now with the person they've buddied up with, they don't really know each other, they're just aware of each other... hmm this is going to be interesting. Harry thought to himself.

Pulling out one of his notebooks he began to jot some things down, more questions to his ever growing list of enquires and theories... He would have to put some of his theories to the test, and the best way to start? Observe.

Walking through the common room they noticed that there was only a few other students up, most of them older students. Though Harry noted that they looked like they hadn't actually slept yet, just staying awake and studying all through the night. Well that's something to look forward to, Harry thought sarcastically to himself.

There was surprisingly even less students in the dining hall, though there were quite a few students seated at the Ravenclaw table, amongst the few seated he noticed Hermione and Draco were present and both were going over their time tables.

Taking a seat at the middle of the table Harry looked up as Professor Snape came over to them with two time tables in hand.

"Good morning Professor Snape." Harry greeted politely.

Snape just nodded in response and handed over their time tables.

"I expect," Snape began, "You both to be on you best behaviour, remember you represent the house of Slytherin, any bad behaviour will reflect badly on Slytherin... you may also notice that not all teachers will give you... a chance, so if you have any problems then come to me or one of the older students."

Snape eyed both boys almost accusingly before walking back to the head table where the teachers usually say, though very few were currently present.

Ron gave Harry a confused look, "What do you think that was about?"

Harry blinked slowly. Really Ron, really. "Obviously it was a little 'pep talk'-"

"No," Ron interpreted, rolling his eyes, "The stare, he looked at us as if we were about to set fire to the school or something."

Harry just shrugged and began preparing himself some breakfast (was this food here when we sat down?) and looked over his time table.

"So it looks like we have Transfiguration first, we'll have plenty of time to find the room. I doubt will be late.

Both boys came running through the doors to the transfiguration classrooms, just over ten minutes late.

"You said we.. wouldn't be late.." Ron panted, doubling over trying to catch his breath.

"It's not.. my fault... we're late.. blame that man, if it wasn't for him... we would of.. gotten here on time." Harry replied back also panting out of breath.

They had ended up going the wrong way due to the moving stairs and of course ended up on the third floor that just so happened to be out of bounds, and who should happen to turn up other than the old caretaker Mr. Filch-a bitter old man if there ever was one-and his cat.

So that's how they found themselves running late to their first class... maybe he should of set his alarm to wake him earlier.

Luck seemed to be on their side it seemed, seeing as the Professor had yet to arrive, just her wand, hat and cat sat upon her desk... hmm was it just him or was that cat staring disapprovingly at them both.

The cat leapt itself of the table, about mid leap said cat turned into Professor McGonagall.

Both Ron and Harry could barely contain there shock, though they somehow managed to, Ron even refrained from saying something possibly (probably) inappropriate out loud.

"I should deduct points for being late to my lesson, however, seeing as its your first day and that I'll let you of with a warning, next time your late points will be taken," Raising her voice a little to address the rest of the class, "That goes for the rest of you as well," Turning her attention back to the boys she added, "Take your seats."

There was a lot more to magic, as Harry quickly found out, than waving your wand and saying a few funny words.

There was so many things you had to do and get right before saying the spell, you had to make sure you were saying the spell correctly, (pronunciation is everything!) you had to make sure you were holding your wand correctly.

Wouldn't it be easier if we just concentrated on what we wanted and point the wand at... whatever or wherever need be, Harry mused to himself, heck do we even really need a wand, it seems more like something that we have that limits what we can do and have to rely far too much, surely we don't need to use a wand as a conduct, yes it makes things a little easier, but it wouldn't necessarily make one good at magic, even if they managed to do 'powerful' spells that other's could only dream of, surely they weren't more powerful than say a wizard/witch that could cast a simple 'accio' spell without their wand.

Now if they could do that and do it silently, that would be impressive.

Harry tapped the tip of his pen-urgh-quill against the blank piece of parchament that was supposed to be filled with notes from his history lesson, however his initial excitement of learning about the history of magic died five minuets after the Professor began talking. The Professor was a ghost, that in itself was enough to make this lesson a little more exciting, however as stated previously Harry was soon proved wrongs, all Professor Binn's did was drone on about the goblin war.

A bell tolled signalling the end of the lesson; no one could leave the classroom fast enough, I'll visit the library and make notes for the history of magic, and next time to bring a history book to the lesson to learn from, I could barely keep myself awake! Harry thought to himself, shaking his head.

Looking over at Ron he wondered if the red head had made any notes on the lesson.

"Ron, did you get anything?"

Ron shook his head no, "I thought you might of gotten something done..." He trailed off.

"Don't worry, we'll go to the library after lessons and take some notes then."

With that both boys, made there way to their next lesson, this should be interesting.

A/N: How was that? I thought it was rubbish, again more of a filler but next chapter is about... well, wait and see, Draco and Hermione will be making an appearance. Please leave a review, and follow and fave this story if you haven't, but if you have thank you for your support, it helps motivate me to keep writing this story.

Special thanks to all those who reviewed: Raicheda-Gives-Ya-An-Idea, Amber Silverwood, Joleigh13, harrytonkslover2216, delenda est c, 'Guest', aspygirlredo and countrylovinfangirl for the reviews!

After reading some of your reviews, I just want to add that yes there will be some Weasley bashing, however obvioulsy not Ron; also Draco and Harry will become friends, the point is Harry is making them all think, its funny how by doing one little thing different could change everything, instead of being with his blood relatives, feeling alone with a need to prove himself, he grew up in a loving family that encouraged him to do what he believed etc, and so that one little thing causes a 'chain-reaction'... just wait and see I guess..

Anyway please R&R~
