Chapter Eight

"Hey" She whispered. "I need your help" Hayley said softly into the phone, hoping Rebekah wasn't with Elijah or Klaus at that moment.

"Hello? Hayley I can't hear you" Rebekah shouted in the phone before the line was cut off and Hayley was left alone again, standing outside the club, unaware of where Caroline had gone off to; it wasn't part of their plan to go anywhere tonight.

She sighed, her hand instinctively finding its way to her stomach in a protective stance. "Stupid vampires" She whispered before turning and stalking her way back into the club to find Cami and go home again.

"Well it's nice to see you too Care Bear" Katherine smirked, her arms crossed across her chest as she stood leaning on one hip in front of her, her eyes in a playful mood. Caroline rose to her feet, mimicking the exact stance of Katherine and glared at the girl in front of her.

"Firstly, don't call me that and secondly, what the hell are you doing here?" Caroline spat, looking at the older vampire in disgust. It was safe to say Katherine wasn't her favourite person after she caused the uproar back in Mystic Falls after telling everyone she slept with Klaus.

Katherine laughed. "Well evidently, I know more about the situation, than you apparently do. I'm here to help" She teased, continuing to wind Caroline up.

"Well isn't that lovely. Luckily for us, we don't need your help Katherine. In fact, there's nothing that anyone needs your help with. So go back to hell" Caroline smirked before turning and flashing away, back through the forest.

She gasped, as her back slammed against the tree trunk and she looked into those dark brown eyes, struggling against the girls hold on her shoulders.

"Listen, I know we haven't exactly got on in the past Caroline, but I'm serious this time. I know more about what's going on here than the majority of people do and trust me when I say you're going to need my help" Katherine elaborated, continuing to push the blonde back into the tree, her strength completely over powering Caroline's struggles.

"Are you serious? You killed me Katherine, of course we don't get on and that's exactly why I don't need your help and never will" She growled, looking down at Katherine's hands. Within seconds she'd managed to reach up and twist her hand away, hearing Katherine's yelp as she flung her backwards.

"Now get lost".

Caroline flashed away again and neared the edge of the forest before finally slowing down. She closed her eyes, leaning her back against the nearest tree as she sighed. Was Katherine right? Was there something she needed to be worried out?

"I killed you a long time Caroline and you can't say you prefer that whiney cheerleader to the women you are today. You're powerful, strong and would make one hell of a partner for me" Katherine spoke as she walked up behind Caroline, sensing the eye roll coming from the blonde.

"I know a lot of powerful witches Caroline and despite the fact you've only just found out about this baby, they've known about it for a long time and now it's actually happening they're scared. That baby is a miracle; it's going to be part vampire, werewolf and witch and that is one hell of a combination. The baby will bring danger and death not only to the witches but to us as well. I've seen the vision and trust me, it isn't pretty. I didn't spend over 500 years surviving, to be killed off by a baby. So are you going to help me or what?" Katherine ended up standing in front of her, her eyes glaring showing how her patience levels were falling and she crossed her arms over her chest again, studying Caroline as she waited for a reply.

"What exactly are you planning to do?" Caroline asked, finally leaning up from the tree and staring deeply into the eyes of her enemy.

Hayley sighed, dragging Cami up the stairs as the human stumbled around giggling as she knocked everything out of the way in her path. Hayley sighed, this was not her idea of a fun night and she quite frankly hated Cami, but she couldn't leave her, Elijah and Klaus would kill her.

As she pushed open Cami's door she stumbled forward, pushing Cami down on the bed. She smirked slightly at Cami's drunken moans, the name Klaus coming up a couple of times. Hayley knew she had a thing for him. She pulled off Cami's heels and tore back the duvet allowing Cami to curl up underneath it. Hayley groaned as she pulled the duvet up and tucked it around the now dozing human. She'd never had to look after anyone but herself before and it was safe to say she didn't like it, especially with Cami.

She turned around, ready to go to bed but stopped dead when she looked up to see Elijah standing in the doorway, adjusting the cuff links on his suit as he looked down at the drunken and disorderly girl snoring in the bed, her make up all over her face and her clothes barely on.

"Hayley?" He questioned, looking at her with disappointment, he had trusted her not to get into any trouble when they were gone. "I think you should come downstairs" He spoke, still managing to sound polite as he flashed away.

She closed Cami's door behind her and made her way down to the courtyard, the light breeze blowing against her hair.

"What the bloody hell happened to her?" Rebekah asked as she picked up the broken vases and fallen furniture at the bottom of the stairs.

"It's a long story" Hayley sighed, taking a seat that Elijah offered her.

"Well get started little wolf and tell me where the hell Caroline has ended up as well whilst you're at it" Klaus spat, stalking down the steps having apparently sensed Caroline was currently not there. Hayley noticed Rebekah's recognition flashing in her eyes and she felt guilty, realising that that was the reason Hayley had called her.

"Caroline had been sitting watching your day walkers for three days non-stop. She was figuring out which ones were the ones you assigned to watch her and it didn't take her long to figure out. Cami came in and asked us if we wanted to go out. We were only going to go out for dinner but Caroline wanted to go dancing so we followed her. Half way through the night she flashed off and I managed to catch up to her before she said she had something to deal with and she was gone before I could stop her. Not only that but she compelled the bouncers not to let Cami leave the club so it took me over an hour to finally get her out and back here. I don't know where Caroline is, but she told me to get home safe and that's all she said" Hayley explained, looking at Rebekah when Cami was mentioned in the story, something that didn't go unnoticed by the brothers.

"You look tired, I think it's time you go to bed" Rebekah spoke up, before anyone else had the chance to interrogate her. "I'll help you" Offering her hand out to Hayley she smiled weakly, eyeing her brothers as she helped Hayley up the stairs, exhaustion evident.

Pushing through Hayley's door Rebekah turned towards her, closing the door behind her.

"What the bloody hell were you and Caroline doing together anyway and did you happen to miss out a chunk of that story Hayley?" Rebekah asked, her eyes wide as she crossed her arms across her chest.

"I told her about Cami. She doesn't trust her either and we could use someone else on our side" Hayley spoke up, glaring at Rebekah. If there was one thing she hated it was being treated like a child.

"Keep your voice down" Rebekah grumbled before she stood up straight and turned her head towards the door.

"Go to sleep" She ordered before turning and flashing out of the room.

"Niklaus did you happen to notice how Hayley's eyes flashed towards Rebekah at the mention of Camille? It wouldn't surprise me that Rebekah and Hayley could be up to something" Elijah spoke first, taking a sip from the glass of blood he had just poured himself.

"Of course I bloody noticed." He spat, also taking a sip from his glass. He looked up at the stairs before he turned towards the entrance to the courtyard, his brows furrowing.

Rebekah flashed down the stairs.

"Elijah, I think it would be nice for you to check on Hayley and take her up a glass of water, she looks exhausted" Rebekah started, noticing how Klaus was also looking towards the door. "Klaus, Hayley said something about Cami wanting to talk to you also, something she wanted to share about the witches" Rebekah offered and she nodded as she watched her two brothers flashing away from her.

She turned her attention back towards the entrance and flashed away without a second glance.

Caroline made her way back to the courtyard but stopped abruptly upon hearing heightened conversations inside. They were back, they'd got back before her and Hayley told them what had happened. Perfect, that was a conversation she was hoping to have avoided with Klaus. She sighed, standing still as she listened to what was being said. She noticed how Hayley didn't mention anything about their talk about Camille and realised that the whole family must have come home, not just Klaus.

Upon hearing Rebekah and Hayley wondering up the stairs Caroline decided it was just not worth the hassle entering the courtyard tonight, she was really not in the mood to face neither Klaus nor Hayley at the moment; she just needed time to think.

She turned; flashing away into the darkened high street, unaware that two originals had sensed her presence.

Caroline had checked into a small, out of the way hotel that was cheap and badly decorated. But it was perfect for staying out of the way for the night. She hadn't got any clothes or items with her at all except her phone and she sighed, slumping down on the bed, her hands running through her hair before she rested her head in her hands, closing her eyes in exhaustion. She'd found out a lot more than she was expecting to and somehow it still hadn't sunk in that Klaus was going to be a father, with Hayley.

Looking up she tensed up.

"What the bloody hell are you up too?" Rebekah asked, glaring at Caroline as she crossed her arms, looking around at the dirty shack of a room.

Caroline sighed, turning away from her and sitting down on her bed, resting her back against the wall. Rebekah softened a little bit as she waited for Caroline's reply. She knew straight away Caroline had found out about the baby.

"I'm not really in the mood for girly chit chat at the moment Rebekah, so if you could please leave me in peace, I'd appreciate it" Caroline spoke, not even bothering to look at Rebekah.

"You know, don't you?" Rebekah asked, her voice softening as her hands fell down to her side. Despite the fact Rebekah and Caroline didn't get on, it was so clear and obvious that there was a strong connection between Klaus and Caroline and everyone noticed it. She knew what it was like to have her heart broken.

"Yep, thanks for sharing" Caroline whispered, resting her head on her knees as she turned away from her. Now she'd actually had to talk about it and it had sunken in she held in the sobs, determined not to let Rebekah see her upset.

"Look, I'm not going to go into that now, that's something that Niklaus needs to talk to you about. But what happened tonight? I know you heard Hayley telling us and I know she told you about Cami. Where did you go?" Rebekah asked, trying to be as caring as possible.

"Just for a walk" Caroline lied, continuing to look away from Rebekah.

"I thought you were smart enough by now to realise you are a terrible liar" Rebekah smirked, noticing how Caroline tensed at being found out.

"Look, I know you're upset and I know I'm not the person you want to be with right now, but I think you should come back to the house, you're not safe out here and god knows why, but I'm a little bit worried" Rebekah whispered, obviously uncomfortable with talking to Caroline in this way, she was used to being a bitch but it was clear that she had never seen Caroline this quiet or dampened. She was always so positive and strong, ready to take on anything.

"I'm fine, I'll see you tomorrow" Caroline grumbled, lying down and turning away from Rebekah, her back facing towards her as she finally let the tears fall from her eyes.

Rebekah nodded, hearing Caroline's quiet sobs despite how hard she tried to hide them from her. She turned, flashing out of the hotel and stopped abruptly.

"You've got some serious explaining to do Nik." She muttered before flashing away and back to the courtyard.

There you go, I hope you enjoyed it and please let me know what you think!
