AN: Hey Everyone! ShadowPony12 here!
How's it going? How about them recent feels in Ruby? My heart clenched at their back story, with that said BumbleBee is an official pairing, just because that moment between Yang and Blake felt so right.
Anyway, the New Chapter is up and ready to be read! Sorry it took so long college and such really does a number on your creative process.
Though I think for 17000 words it might be worth it.
This chapter is going to be heavy with all OC introductions.
Enough of my Author's Note! Enjoy the story my good friends!
Ch.8
Deep below the surface of Emerald forest, below the caves and below the dirt and rock, a pair of red eyes began to glow, moments after another pair began to glow, than another and another, and so on and so forth. An umpteenth amount of red eyes ran along the dark expanse of the cave.
As if part of a single hive mind, all the creatures roared each one varying from each other.
Gaia and Co.
"Oh… did you feel that?" Yang asked, with a shiver. The other two looked at her with confusion.
"I didn't feel anything." Blake replied simply, her usual calm façade never broken.
"Um… no, no I didn't." Gaia replied unsure, if her shiver meant she was cold or something else…
Yang looked at them, "Are you sure?" Blake and Gaia nodded as they ducked under a low tree branch.
"You sure you're not just cold?" Blake said not looking back at Yang and more focused on where she was going.
"It is getting pretty chilly out here." Gaia crossed her arms and rubbed her arms to warm herself up. Her ear twitched, "Huh, did you hear that?" she created two chakrams and Blake had her blade ready. Gaia wasn't surprised that Blake heard.
"I didn't hear anything." Yang said with a shrug, but was soon pushed out of the way when an unknown creature jumped out of the trees.
"What the… woah!" Gaia flipped back right before a tail smashed into her previous position. In response, she changed her weapons into an assault rifle and fired several rounds at the beast, but the shots merely bounced off the creature's dark fur armor.
"What is that?" Yang exclaimed as the beast shrugged of the bullets and recalled its tail. The beast turned towards Blake.
Blake observed the beast; it was fox like in form with three tails, one of which was the tail that nearly impaled Gaia. It's fur was black with purple highlights connected forming a series shapes, each highlight leading towards the tip of each tail. It's eyes were an odd midnight blue, but no less menacing if they were red.
Each tip of the tail had a purple flame, otherwise known as fox fire. Blake was confused because she's never seen such a creature, even in her times with the White Fang, she has never run into a such a majestic Grimm. The foxlike Grimm was strangely stunning and looked a lot more powerful then it lets on.
"Careful girls, she looks like she's hiding something." Blake warned the other two, Yang nodded and Gaia couldn't help but shake the feeling they're getting into more than they can handle.
Regardless of her personal misgivings, she readied her rifle. She has a feeling if she were to get close the results would end badly.
Blake nodded, "We should keep a distance I have a feeling if we get too close we're going to regret it."
Gaia nodded, "I was thinking the same." She looked over to Yang and saw she was already in a battle stance. "Yang, stick to your shotguns."
Yang rolled her eyes with a smirk, "Yeah, Yeah… I make no promises though!" Ember Cecilia's mode turned to its range ability, if the distinct cocking sound was anything to go by.
Sensing the trio was prepared, the fox creature started to circle them, watching them, and waiting for the perfect chance to strike.
The group followed in suit, they followed the fox's pattern of staying directly across from them. Then Yang rushed…
The fox reacted quickly to the charge and immediately jumped into the air, swinging her tails as she did. She caught Yang on the back sending her to side and launched a fox fire at her. Yang quickly moved out of the way, Blake took her chance and tried to attack the distracted creature with Gambol Shroud in Auto-Pistol mode. She managed to fire off a few shots, but the fox swung her tail and sent a whip of fire at the bullets, completely melting the bullets. The whip of fire kept moving forward which caught Blake off guard, not expecting it to be that effective.
Gaia saw her shocked state and moved in front of Blake, transforming her rifle into a large Kite Shield. The fox's attack was negated since you can't melt Aura. Blake nodded in gratification towards Gaia; she simply waved it off and jumped back transforming them into its previous form.
The fox didn't seem to care they blocked her attack; she turned her head to see Yang firing off several shots from her gauntlets. The fox swung its tail and smacked the shots out of the air, Yang wasn't deterred and rushed her again, but this time she wasn't alone, Blake was running right beside her.
The two collided with the fox in an exchange of blows. Gaia decided her pistols were going to do much so she switched them back into her original plan and started taking pot shots at the fox with a semi-auto assault rifle. Blake made vertical upwards strike, the fox twisted her body avoiding her strike but wasn't able to dodge in time when Yang shot a round at her, but managed to block with her tail. That didn't stop her from being blasted back though, the fox managed to land on its paws effortlessly.
Gaia saw her chance and began to fire round after round at the fox, she merely danced around the shots as if they were moving in slow motion, to her they were though. Gaia cursed under her breath and decided to forego the rifle and switched to a sword and shield. The sword was manipulated in the form of the familiar looking Excalibur; her shield was formed with no defining feature and looked somewhat transparent as it was manipulated purely from dust.
The fox heeded her no mind, and focused her attention on the two currently rushing her. Her tails stood up straight, then came together and formed a beach ball sized fox fire. She pulled her tails back and flung it forward, leaving a purple trail of in the air. Blake and Yang immediately stopped their approached and jumped to the side a few times avoid the attack and the blast radius as it collided it with the floor creating a tower of twisting fire.
Gaia made her way towards the preoccupied fox and did a full shield charge knocking the fox back, before it could recover Gaia kicked her side, making her slide. The fox looked towards its attacker her eyes glowing with her fox fire.
"It seems I brushed you off too early, maybe there is more to your abilities than firing a coward's weapon."The fox spoke in women's voice that would have been attractive if it weren't for the distortion in her voice.
Gaia's eyes widened, she recognized her, "Kira…" her voice held a tone of disgust and fear, hate was heavily evident to and it showed. Her aura surged destroying the ground below her and blasting back several trees. Blake and Yang were surprised by the sudden surge of power and started rushing towards her in an effort to calm her down but the shockwave knocked them back. The fox was apparently unaffected and stood her ground, her gaze never leaving Gaia.
"Oh, so it's you…"Her voice echoed her realization even if she didn't really care, "How are your parents?" She asked in mock concern, "Oops! You don't have any."Her tone became flat and bored, though the jab was clearly obvious.
"KIRA!"
Ladon and Odissia
"So tell me again, how you got a DEATHSTALKER TO TRAIL YOU!" Ladon yelled at Pyrrah and dodged the constant strikes from its tail.
"Uh, well Jaune-" She was cut off by Odissia, "We know! It was rhetorical!" She brought up a quick shield of shadows to block a particularly fast attack.
"Oh… " she rolled to her side to dodge the scorpions stinger. She got ready for another dodge, but was struck by a heavy pressure and stopped in her in her tracks. "What is that…." Odissia took notice of the pressure and the effect it had on Pyrrah and her reaction was instantaneous, she melded in the ground and appeared right under Pyrrah, grabbing her and pulling her through the ground with her and appeared on the tree furthest from the Deathstalker.
"Pyrrah, snap out of it!" She yelled at Pyrrah, snapping her out of her paralyzed demeanor.
She shook her head and looked towards Odissia her shock still clearly on her face, "What was that?"
Ladon than appeared right next to them, "That would be, Gaia."
Pyrrah stared at Ladon in disbelief, "She can't possibly have that much Aura! It's inhumane!"
Ladon barely glanced and said nothing, so Odissia spoke instead, "She does, so deal with it."
"Do you all have that amount?" Her head kept switching between the two, waiting for an answer.
"No, no we don't. The reason she has so much is because of her semblance." Ladon explained, she looked at him in confusion, "What do you mean?"
Ladon ignored her, "Odissia, I'm going to distract the Deathstalker with Pyrrah. " He looked down towards the rampaging Deathstalker destroying everything hoping to find the couple disturbed its slumber.
Pyrrah looked at Ladon with annoyance at not only being ignored, but being volunteered to distract something that could potentially kill them without at least three people. "Odissia, I need you to scout why Gaia is releasing so many Auras, and put a stop to it if you can."
She nodded and melded into the tree, disappearing from view.
"What was that?!" Pyrrah shouted at Ladon grabbing his attention, "You can't ignore me, then expect me to go along with this plan of yours, that I had no say in!"
Ladon didn't care, as his attention was on the safety of his sisters. He knows for a fact Gaia wouldn't release her Aura, unless it was absolutely necessary, still he couldn't shake the feeling that Gaia is in more trouble than she can handle.
"Ladon!" She pulled back her hand and slapped him, he stumbled a bit and looked at Pyrrah with a glare, "Would you listen to me!"
He looked off to the side and noticed the Death Stalker was moving towards the source of the energy, "I will, after we keep that thing from interfering." He jumped off pulled out Python and switched it to its high powered rifle mode and discharged several rounds, each one hitting its mark grabbing the attention of the Death Stalker. Pyrrah growled in annoyance but joined in the distraction effort.
The Death Stalker charged him, until another bit of rounds struck it. It looked up and saw Pyrrah falling towards it with her weapon in sword mode. The Death Stalker looked up and stuck at her with its stinger, but Pyrrah was unaffected by its attempt and spun striking the singer on the side redirecting and landing on its head. She took a few slashes at its armor before jumping off and join Ladon at his side.
"I'm still mad at you." Ladon looked at her and looked away causing Pyrrah to frown. She was about to charge, but was pulled back by Ladon.
"We're not here to fight it, we are here to distract it and keep it away from the surge of power." Pyrrah sighed and nodded shooting more rounds into the armor and jumping back to start running, Ladon doing the same.
Ozpin and Glynda
"Hmm… that's quite the burst of Aura." Ozpin said to himself as he looked on his scroll, but Glynda heard him clearly. She looked on her scroll and switched to the camera Ozpin was on.
"What is that Grimm Ozpin, I don't think I've quite seen that kind before."
Ozpin took a sip of is coffee, "That is not a Grimm... if I remember they are Kitsune Demons, a Faunus Breed of Noble Blood. This should make for an excellent initiation."
Glynda looked at him, "Excellent? How is this Excellent? They are going against an enemy intelligent and powerful enemy! We should recall the students and drive it off."
Ozpin paid her no mind to her outburst, "If it becomes an issue we will handle it. For now have a little faith in our students. If Nymph and Odissia are anything to go by, she should be fine. If not, well let's hope it never comes to that. Though, I think she is in good hands, Odissia is on her way." He took another sip of his coffee, "Regardless have the Medical Staff and Pilots on stand-by for emergency evac of any students."
Glynda nodded, "Will do Ozpin." She walked off to the academy to perform her assigned duties.
"Surprise me, Gaia."
Unknown Duo
"It would seem someone is unleashing a large amount of Dust, Minaka." An emotionless male voice said. He looked to the side after getting no response, "Minaka?" He saw said person's eyes flashing between red and brown.
"Minaka, will you be fine?" said person looked towards the voice, and saw a man in in blank mask, "I'll be fine Zero, let's get moving we have to find Emily and Hatter before the latter kills the others simply cause he's bored." Minaka said carelessly as his draconic tail swished behind him.
"If you say so, but whoever is emitting that amount of Aura is like a beacon for Grimm and other not so friendly entities."
"Let's go." Zero nodded.
Gaia and Co.
"KIRA!"She charged forward leaving a loud boom behind her, simultaneously creating two sleek Katanas that trailed behind her like a bloody trail. The fox formed a purple haze around herself and waited for Gaia to make contact, that was a mistake and she felt it. Gaia slashed at Kira, tearing straight through her haze singing her fur and leaving a small, but painful gash.
Gaia smirked, "Oh you seriously thought that wasn't going to penetrate your haze? Wow, you're slacking off Kira. What happen to 'Miss Almighty', huh!?"
"GAH! YOU LITTLE WENCH! I'M GOING TO SLAUGHTER YOU IN FRONT OF YOUR FRIENDS JUST LIKE I DID WITH YOU AND YOUR ABOMINATION OF BROTHER'S PARENTS!"Kira shouted in outrage, her Aura spiked, healing her wound instantaneously and formed a massive fox fire directly above her. Gaia looked at the huge ball of slowly condensing Aura and dust.
Gaia looked at the massive attack in slight fear, all bravado she once had gone at the sight. "YANG, BLAKE! CLEAR THE VICINITY THIS ATTACK WILL KILL US IF WE'RE WITH IN RANGE!" Yang and Blake who were off to the side immediately took her advice to heart, but Blake stopped, "What about you! You won't make it out in time!"
"Don't worry about me! Now go!" She ordered as her Aura spiked again, pushing Blake and Yang back even more. Though, Blake hesitated to run, this was one of her friends who she cared for even after their less than appealing past, but Blake didn't argue with Gaia commands and ran off, pulling Yang along with her.
Yang was surprised, "Wh-what! Why are we leaving her behind! Go get her your fast, aren't you!" Blake looked back at Yang, her eyes watering with reluctance.
Yang cringed at the pain in her eyes, she could tell this was tough for her and began running with her instead of being dragged.
Gaia watched the two take off until they were out of site before refocusing on Kira, her Aura spiked again. Gaia began to strain her Aura limits, but kept it off her face as not to give Kira the satisfaction.
She scoffed, "You think that measly amount of power is going to save you?!"her voice was arrogant and condescending. Lifting the attack to its climax, "You will burn in a hell specially made for abominations like you and your parents!"was her final insult before jumping in the air and slamming the attack down on Gaia.
"GAIA!"That was the only thing Gaia heard before purple blurred her vision.
Ladon and Pyrrah
"Keep moving!" Ladon shot another several rounds from Python at the Death Stalker. Ladon reloaded for what felt like the umpteenth amount of time. "Damn it! I'm running out of ammo! Pyrrah, how are you faring!"
Pyrrah looked at Ladon exhausted, but put a brave face on, "I'm fine! A little tired, but fine! I'm running out too!" she flipped forward and twisted firing off a couple of rounds from her rifle. She jumped to the side when the Death Stalker's stinger got particularly close, but she wasn't able to avoid the claw that smacked her through the tree breakage. Ladon picked up speed and caught her in mid-air and landed on the ground right outside of the forest.
Ladon took a quick look at his surroundings, it was an open area, mostly grass, but further down he could see some ruins of an old temple. "The Death Stalker knocked her pretty far…" He looked down at the dazed red warrior; he noticed she had some scratches and a couple of cuts that her Aura was quickly healing. He looked back to the ruins and sped to it hoping to enough distance between them and the Grimm to give her enough time to recover. It's times like this he wished Gaia or Nymph was here their healing abilities would be very useful.
Moments after, Blake and Yang came out of the forest, panting with Yang limping a little bit and part of Blake clothes were singed.
Ladon took notice, "What the hell happen to you two?" He questioned as he waved them over.
Blake and Yang took nervous glances at each other, Blake spoke first, "We, uh… ran into a Grimm that turned out to be more than we can handle and Gaia was with-" She stopped as Ladon grabbed her by her shoulders and looked at her with his most serious look, "What do you mean was?" His voice was cold yet concerned at the same time.
Blake was frozen by his tone, so Yang picked up from where she left off, "She was with us when the creature attacked us he called her Kira…" Ladon's eyes switched to an unholy red, but said nothing, "…she looked kind of like a fox and said…" her voice trailed off, not wanting to expand on the subject.
"What. Did. She. Say." His rage slammed against every single word. Yang recoiled at this tone, but continued in a stutter, "Sh-she s-said she k-killed y-our pa-parents…" she didn't get much further as strong gust of wind knocked her over, she looked behind her and saw Ladon burst through the foliage and out of sight.
Ozpin and Glynda
"Ozpin, now would be a good time to intervene. She will be critically injured if not killed by an attack of that magnitude." Glynda replied in her more serious than usual business tone.
Ozpin shook his head, "Watch closely Glynda, you might notice something you haven't before." His cryptic response irked her but heeded his words and watched the video feed; she lifted her brow when she saw it.
Elsewhere
A maniacal laughter could be heard throughout the forest or at least in the immediate vicinity, the source of the laugh was man in a top hat carelessly slaughtering the Beowolves around him, His laughter grew more insane with each kill, "Fabulous! Fabulous Art!" He chanted as he cut down, slashed and tore apart each of the unlucky beowolves that attacked him.
Though there was another who was rubbing her temples in annoyance, "Hatter…" Exasperation littered that one word. Though, the newly named Hatter couldn't hear her over his own insane laughter. Strangely enough, none of the Beowolves attacked or even approached her; they were probably more focused on the lunatic slaughtering their kin.
"This would be so much more fabulous if there was screams of agony! Oh, and fabulous splatters of blood would make this so much more fabulous!" His insane laughter echoed around the clearing, It soon died down and he sat there with almost a depressed look, but was instantly replaced by a rather eerie grin.
Hatter turned towards his partner, "Emily, do you think we will cross paths with the other initiates? I so hope we do!" He said with an insane bout of laughter near the end.
Emily rolled her eyes, "For their sake, let's hope not…" she whispered to herself and walked off. Hatter shrugged and followed after her.
Nymph, Ruby, Weiss
Somewhere in the sky, the sounds of an angry Weiss, a giggling Nymph, and a cheeky Ruby, were heard, "Ruby! How did you even talk me into this!" The reason for her anger? They were atop a raging Nevermore with no way of getting down.
Ruby laughed nervously, though her amusement was clearly more evident. "If this is so funny then you explain how are we going to get down?" Weiss clearly did not see what was so amusing.
Ruby scrunched her face a little as she held onto the Nevermore's feather. Weiss was about to call her out, that she had no idea, but Ruby's faced lightened and spoke with an excitable tone. "We jump!"
Weiss backtracked a little, recoiling at the thought of jumping. They could do it, but the Nevermore wouldn't pass a chance to pick them out of thin air. She didn't get a chance to respond as Nymph seemingly decided to speak, "That's a great idea!" She 'whooped' atop the Nevermore enraging it even more, since it couldn't shake the damn things off it.
It's official, Nymph is insane, at least to Weiss she is. She could not fathom Nymph's vision of a 'good idea' it was all in all a bad idea and she would have spoken up, if it wasn't for the sudden shockwave of power passing through her. Weiss looked to the distance and saw a huge purple ball forming. She looked towards the others and noticed the other two were staring at the same place she was.
Ruby didn't know what to think; she felt several burst of energy and looked to where she thought the source originated from. She was shocked when she saw a massive purple flame above what she could make out, a three tailed fox. Not sure who to ask for info on the creature she simply spoke loud enough for both of them to hear.
"Hey guys, what kind of Grimm looks like a three tailed fox?" Nymph's ear twitched at the mention of a 'three tailed fox' she knew exactly who it was, Kira. Then she felt it, three surges of very familiar Aura.
"Not her…" her voice was low enough so no one heard her. She stood up on the Nevermore and jumped off the Grimm towards her family and Kira.
Weiss didn't know how to properly respond to Nymph's sudden jump and settled for glaring at Ruby, but that was thrown out the window when she saw Ruby missing. She couldn't believe it, Ruby just ditched her, "That little red-" She was interrupted by the screech of the Nevermore and saw it change its course, right towards a freefalling Ruby.
"Oh crap." She pushed off the Grimm, using her semblance to push her faster. Once she felt she was a significant distance she twisted her body and pulled out Myrtenaster and started firing several shots at the Nevermore's face to force it to change course or slow it done a little. She managed to slow it down slightly, but it was still moving on them rather fast. She heard two shots whiz by her each one striking the Bird in the face slowing it down even more. Weiss looked back and noticed Ruby had Crescent rose out and it was smoking.
Ruby smirked at the rounds hitting home, she looked towards Weiss, who was moving closer to her using her Glyphs. Ruby smiled at her partner, though Weiss did not share the same sentiment and Ruby noticed it, her smile turning from amused to nervous.
Weiss was finally next to Ruby she would have scolded her about leaving her like that, but she knew they had more pressing matters to attend to, like the speeding Nevermore for example.
Weiss looked over to Ruby, "If we don't stop it or at least slow it down, we're going to have a very painful landing!"
Ruby nodded and focused on the still speeding Nevermore, "Let's do this!" Ruby pointed her Scythe-Sniper at the Nevermore and charged it, Weiss new her shot wouldn't be enough, so she did the next best thing. She activated her Glyph and landed on it with Ruby; switching Myrtenaster to a gold glow she fired a small Gold bolt at the glyph, mimicking the bolt.
Ruby and Weiss began to glow gold, a surge of energy entered their system, and Ruby's bolt took on a pale gold before releasing and fire a beam of the same color right at the Nevermore. The Nevermore wasn't quick enough to avoid and took the full brunt of the attack, the beam exploded launching the Nevermore back into the foliage.
Ruby looked at Weiss with a look of awe as they descended the sky, "Woah, Weiss what was that?!" Weiss didn't respond, she was to focus on landing. She activated several Glyphs below her and Ruby, each one shattering as they fell through, slowing them down each time till they were safely on ground.
Weiss finally replied to Ruby, "My semblance are Glyphs, it can be used as a number of support abilities or offensive abilities. I used a buff glyph combined with gold dust, which was foolish of me since I've never done it before, but we needed a bigger punch as it looked like your attack wasn't enough." Ruby, well a little irked since Weiss didn't think her attack was enough, but that was easily overshadowed by her sheer amazement of her semblance.
"The ability to power up yourself or anyone is a very useful ability to have in a team. I'm glad we're partners Weiss." Weiss recoiled at her declaration, but quickly covered it up with her usual tone, "Of course, anyone would be happy if they were my partner. You got lucky you were the first one I saw." They turned around and saw a huge structure with several pedestals with an unconscious Pyrrah lying on the floor, a singed Blake tending to said red head and a relatively unharmed Yang with some scuff marks on her clothes.
Yang looked at them, "How's it hanging?" She said with a smile and a wave before putting her fist on her waist. Ruby smiled at seeing her sister after her rather enlightening trip under the Emerald Forest and subsequent Nevermore ride above the forest after the strange flash that placed them in its nest in the first place.
Weiss was a little bit worried for Pyrrah, she was unconscious you don't just arrive at the objective and collapse, "What happened to Pyrrah?" Weiss asked, someone of her skillset shouldn't be unconscious.
Blake looked up to Weiss who was standing next to her, "She was struck by a Death Stalker and tosses over thirty feet out of the forest, though Ladon was able to catch her be for she hit the ground. If that would have happened she would be in a much worse condition."
Weiss was surprised that Faunus saved a human, though she really shouldn't he's proved on many occasion so far that he held no ulterior motives same with Nymph. She really needs to sit down and figure this out, all her life all she has seen were Faunus killing and slaughtering humans in public and assassinations attempts on people in her Fathers company. Why would these Faunus be any different? They hate humans; they're just trying to deceive them, right? Her father has showed her numerous amounts of video footage of faunas killing normal humans without remorse and even recorded footage of The White Fang torturing people that were sent to her company for no apparent reason she knew of. Maybe, he was just…
There was an explosion of Aura and trees being launched into the air, Weiss snapped out of her thought process and saw the Nevermore burst into the sky though it looked exceedingly different.
Instead of its solid black feathers, they were grey and its bone armor mask did not only cover its beak, it trailed on to the ridges of its wings and over the exposed torso and was green tinted, if Weiss were to guess it would be the same on the back, the green tinted bone armor also had trails of purple instead of red all across the armor, but the most confusing thing it was surrounded by a Black Haze and emitting a frightening amount of Aura, which should not be possible for Grimm.
Pyrrah bristled, finally waking up before her eyes shot wide open looking towards the Nevermore, "N-no way! That's impossible! It shouldn't have one!" She said in alarm, she wasn't the only one who was distraught Yang, Blake and Weiss were just as surprised as she was.
"I don't get it that should not be possible." Blake said in her usual calmness as she helped up Pyrrah. She looked around, "Hey guys, where is Jaune? He should have been here by now."
No one said anything as they had no clue either until they heard a girlish scream, cheering and a loud, "Nora!" The five snapped their heads towards the forest ridge and saw Jaune and Ren running out panting as they pushed themselves far more than they should, but that wasn't what caught their attention it was Nora who was riding an Ursa like a freaking pony ride. Moments after as they reached the middle of the clearing the Ursa fell face first onto the ground with Nora sliding down its back with an 'Aww… it's over' to her it was a pony ride.
Jaune and Ren stopped several feet away from the now dead, Ursa. Ren panted and looked at Nora, "We're never doing that again." Placing his hands on his knees he took in deep breaths.
Jaune was doing the same, "I agree, never again."
Nora giggled at their predicament, "Okie Dokie Ren~" She disappeared and appeared next to the trio with a giggle until she noticed the pedestals. She disappeared with an 'OOOH!' and appeared by another pedestal with a Castle and she began to sing 'Queen of the Castle' though that was abruptly stopped as well by another explosion of Aura, this time it came from the forest ridge and to their luck the Death Stalker walked out looking different as well.
It to, was covered by a new Bone Armor, though it had a brown tint to it and grey skin. Its stinger, instead of the usual yellow, it was a pulsing caramel which was covered by the armor as well and surrounded by a black haze.
Ren was the first of the three to notice the two twisted Aura's coming from the Grimm, surprisingly Jaune was second and Nora was oblivious to it.
"Pyrrah, why am I getting a horrible feeling from the Grimm?" Jaune asked the fiery warrior, "You are sensing it's Aura and a corrupted soul." She answered as the three newcomers moved to stand beside her.
Jaune looked at her in confusion, "I thought you said they didn't have souls?"
Pyrrah didn't move her gaze from the two approaching Grimm anomalies, "I thought they didn't as well, but apparently they do."
Ren joined in, "Though the Auras seem off, almost artificial." Pyrrah nodded as she felt it to, the others were not as Aura inclined as those two and were confused.
Ruby asked the question on everyone's mind, "What do you mean artificial and how can you even sense that?" The rest nodded or it Blake's case a slight raise of her eyebrow.
"You seem to forget we're more Aura in tuned then you guys, more accurately you did not know that since we just barely met. In fact I thought I was the only one, but it seems I was wrong." He looked at Pyrrah with nod.
"I thought the same." She responded in kind.
Jaune looked at the Death Stalker and the Nevermore before looking back at the group fear heavily evident in his eyes, "Not to interrupt the revelations but those things are picking up speed and heading towards us."
Ruby nodded and stepped up as she noticed it as well, "Our objectives are right here we don't need to fight thses strange Grimm."
Weiss stepped up, "It's better if we made our way back to the cliff." Blake consented to the plan, "If they choose to hunt us down, what then?" Blake mentioned the fears of the group.
Nora popped up next to Ren making everyone jump but Ren, "We break its wings!" She emphasized the suggestion by making a breaking gesture with her fist.
Everyone looked towards Nora than Ren, he looked back with a 'what' like expression, Weiss spoke her mind, "How are you… you know what? I've seen stranger… forget I said anything."
Ren gave an unsure nod, if they were talking about Nora's disappearing and reappearing act, he was used to, I mean everyone has that friend, right?
In the distant Nymph sneezed and shook her head before racing off to the high levels of Aura.
Back to our Protagonists for the time being;
Jaune was fearful at the thought of fighting the Grimm, but was willing to fight if it came to it, "Then we stand our ground and fight it if we can't outrun it." He mustered every bit of bravery in that sentence hoping to keep everyone's fears away even if he can barely control his.
Ruby noticed he put on a brave front for everyone and smiled adding her own courage in the mix, "Jaune is right. If we have to fight it back we'll put our best into it. We came here to be protectors of the people and if we couldn't fend off these two, then what use are we in an academy like Beacon? For now though we should collect our objectives and move to the cliffs, those Grimm are getting awfully close."
Yang smiled at her sister's resolve, she knows the group will be fine after hearing that speech.
Pyrrah was along the same lines, but her attention was more focused on Jaune and how he courageously attempted to bring everyone's fighting spirit despite his own forthcomings. That was definitely an admiral move and was proud to call him her partner.
Ren nodded in approval of their rally and Nora well… Nora will be Nora.
Blake smirked at the show of courage from them; maybe these humans were worth knowing.
Weiss was initially surprised at Jaune's determination even if he has no real fighting talent himself, though she was more affected by Ruby's speech she really believed they could win if they had to fight those two. There was something about Ruby that made her fuzzy and happy, but pushed it down until she figured out what it meant. She was ready to fight if necessary.
Ruby and Jaune looked towards everyone and noticing there was different Aura around them, not the Aura energy but a feeling they emitted a feeling of confidence, one that they themselves had a hand in making, it caused them to smile and look at each other and nod, "Okay lets grab our objectives and move those Grimm will be here any second!" Ruby shouted to the group, they nodded and grabbed their objectives.
Yang walked up to one of the pedestals with a horse and grabbed it immediately, "How about a Pony!" Blake looked at Yang with a roll of her eyes and smirked, "Sure." Yang smiled and walked over towards Blake.
Ren grabbed didn't move seeing as Nora already got their piece, but chose to look around anyways, "It would seem several of the other pieces were taken already."
Weiss nodded as Ruby grabbed a white knight as well, she looked around and noticed everyone has gotten a piece. Once everyone assembled at the front of the ruins the Grimm who seem to be waiting for something to happen finally got their queue in the form of a huge burst of Aura and single guttural voice that resounded throughout the forest,
"KILL THEM AND BRING ME THEIR BODIES!"as quickly as it came it left. Leaving the group shocked by the demonic voice.
This gave the Grimm the apt amount of time to close in and send a hail of attacks; The Nevermore flapped its wings several times releasing huge gust of winds that cut through the air making a whistling sound as it flew towards them, the Death Stalker slammed it's sting into the ground in front of it b=creating several protrusions of earth spikes rushing at them.
The group had no time to react and settled for their fates. The attacks were suddenly stopped by a huge trail of purple flames that smashed right through the attacks and passed the now unshackled group of students. The attack stopped moving a few feet away from them. They looked at the end of it and noticed the flames flickered before being blown away revealing a sight the group would not soon forget.
Ladon had his blade dug into the ground holding him up his attire was destroyed shredded and burned away it random spots, he was panting heavily his skin was red from the intensity of the flames.
Nymph was directly behind him, not in the same condition as Ladon but still in bad condition, part of her top was burned off with part of her cleavage showing, her skirt was burned near the edges with several holes in it, though it revealed nothing. Her arm was probably the worst part it was bleeding again with bandages being completely burned off she was barely keeping herself up.
Gaia was unconscious, she was probably the most revealing her turtleneck was completely burned off and only left a strap around her chest and her shorts were completely burned off leaving her in her green underwear. If she were conscious she probably wouldn't care regardless. Another, part of her skin was black; all in all it looked as if she took the full brunt of an attack.
Odissia was on her stomach slowly lifting herself wincing with each movement, her dress skirt was burned and all that was left was her midnight purple hot pants, same with her torso it showed a midnight purple undershirt that cut off at her stomach part of her skin was charred. Her weapons were strewn around her as she slowly lifted herself up.
"Shit that was painful." Odissia's voice was strained; once she was up she stumbled towards Gaia. "Hey wake up…" She slapped her, "Wake up you damn bimbo…" She slapped her again… "Wake up…. "She fell on top of Gaia her breathing hitched as she fall unconscious too.
"Girls…" He panted, he tried to lift himself up, but failed, stumbling but never letting go of his sword. Nymph was in the same predicament, but she had nothing holding her up and fell to her side, coughing up bits of blood.
"Donnie, break the restriction we can't beat her with it on…" Nymph spoke her voice soft and strained, but determined none the less.
Ladon stared at her and shook his head, "No, that would invite too many unwanted questions and signal enemies to our position if they don't know already from Kira, you and Gaia." He said between each hitch in his voice, struggling to keep is head clear and the black spots out of his vision.
Nymph giggled her bubbly personality making its way through, even with how weak it is, "You know about that, I thought I was pretty subtle."
Ladon rolled his eyes, "Yes, it was easy to feel that much spike. Plus, felt like you really strained trying not to break the restriction."
"Don't tell me you're done already I was just getting started."Kira walked out of the foliage her five foxtails swaying behind her body covered in a purple haze. She walked out noticing all twelve of them were standing well nine of them. She looked towards Ruby and Co with a malicious smile, "Oh! Look what we have here! More people for me to kill."
The group got into a battle stance getting ready to stand their ground, but was very apprehensive doing anything because her body just exuded Aura and Power. For the most part they were all frozen by the amount of power that rolled off her even the previous Grimm did not move in her presence.
Ozpin and Glynda
Glynda was glaring daggers at Ozpin, "Ozpin, that fox already is proving too much for them to handle it nearly killed four of the initiates!" Glynda's professional demeanor gone as she crossed her arms under her chest.
Ozpin didn't bother to look up from his scroll, "What is that young woman doing? Her aura is spiking." Glynda looked at her scroll and saw that Nymph was glowing.
"What the… she shouldn't be standing after an attack like that."
Battlefield
Ladon looked back at Nymph feeling her Aura spiking with a glow coming from her back, the ethereal wings materialized again, but this time they had chains around it. The wings grew in size straining against the chains.
"Nymph…" He watched the wings press against the ethereal chains her wings pulsing as her body began to float her body began to glow and Aura began surrounding her creating a cocoon and burst revealing a different Nymph, Her hair was still the same Aquamarine but they were no longer pigtails they were in a Princess Style Dothraki Braid; The braid traveled the bangs and met at the back of her head and went into a single braid going down into a much bigger braid, two more braids flowed around back just over her ears and disappeared into the thicker braid that went all the way down to her waist. Her Faunus ears shrunk into small aquamarine fox ears that twitched at every little noise. Her eyes became much deeper and more vibrant Aquamarine eyes with a faint glow.
She now wore a black undershirt with an aquamarine leather vest with a pocket on each breast, which also jumped a size, the undershirt ended just above the waist and the vest ended just above her belly button. Silver pauldrons now rested upon her shoulders her right pauldron had the same intricate fairy design as her bow and glowed aquamarine. Her wrists were covered by steel bracers, that also held her symbol of a fairy, but her hands were bare.
Her waist was now covered by small Nevermore feathers that traveled on the side and to the back, just under that were Aquamarine hot pants, she no longer wore stockings and just had Black heeled stiletto combat boots with aquamarine accents on them. She also had a new appendage, actually appendages; two long aquamarine fox tails sprouted out from her lower posterior and began to sway playfully behind her.
Ladon did a double take and made sure he wasn't hallucinating from the massive amounts of damage he endured. His eyes focused, clearing up the fog that built up and realized, no, he was not mistaken. She even grew to Gaia's height, just what the hell happened?
He watched as Nymph hovered above him, her hand glowed and a series of pink beams shot from them hitting everyone in the area except Kira. Speaking of which, she was watching the proceedings with an observant but uncaring eye, because no matter the power up they can't beat her.
Ladon stood up, no longer feeling the damage of their previous fight, he twirled his sword and flared his aura and smirked when he noticed he was at a hundred percent.
Odissia awoke and stood up, expecting to feel pain, but she felt nothing. This was odd; because she was positive she took on a pretty high tier attack. She looked around seeing if everyone else was fine, but didn't look long as the floating Nymph; at least she thought it was Nymph, caught her eyes before anything else.
"Nymph? Is that you?" The floating figure turned to her with a beaming smile, "Yup, yup Dissi~!" In a rare show of emotion she smiled, that was definitely their Nymph.
Her eyes were pulled from her and towards Gaia who groaned as she stood up, "Oh god, what happen? I feel like I just got slammed by a truck at full speed…" she placed her hand on her head rubbing it little before stretching and popping her body, she moaned in an orgasmic like manner, "Oh man… that felt good."
She blinked a few times before feeling a draft, she looked down at herself and noticed she had nothing on aside from panties and bra, now any normal woman would scream and try to cover herself up, but Gaia just shrugged, not giving a damn about modesty.
Yang smiled at this, "See Ruby, she gets it! If you have a body, show it off!" Ruby turned her head away hoping people would ignore how red her face is. Gaia smiled and an air high five to Yang.
That's when they smiled at the same time and yelled, "WE'RE SEXY AND WE KNOW IT! JIGGLE, JIGGLE, JIGGLE!" Thy laughed as they 'jiggled'.
Everyone, including the Grimm and Kira sweat dropped at this. "These fools are the ones I have to deal with?"She sighed in annoyance and disbelief.
Ladon facepalmed with everyone else falling in suit, "Gaia are you fine? You know what forget it you are or you wouldn't be acting like an idiot." His exasperation was clearly evident.
Nymph giggled and Odissia rolled her eyes. Ruby shrunk hoping to hide her embarrassment; Weiss's brow began to twitch, for another reason as she looked down at her remarkably much smaller chest, for pete's sake, Ruby's were bigger and she is fifteen!
Pyrrah made no outward reaction except for a small smile that tugged her lips. Jaune, well, his nose was bleeding along with Ren's but he kept a straight face and quickly wiped the blood away from his nose. Nora just giggled because Nora giggles at everything. Blake, well, she was Blake she didn't give an outward reaction either.
Ozpin and Glynda
Glynda looked at her screen, her face littered with a sort of awe, "Ozpin, is that what I think it is?"
Ozpin nodded slightly, "It is indeed the Oinari Darastrix Bloodline. A mere fragment of it's true power that she has yet to unlock, those chains were not the restriction they placed on themselves it was limiter, a gate if you will to her next level of power. If our studies are correct she's at Level 2 of her bloodline, maybe even further as she had a drastic transformation. The tails are usually the visual representation of their abilities. So I have no doubt she's in her second stage, so she must be powerful to have that kind of change."
Glynda was shocked to say the least, "How many levels are there?" Ozpin looked at her and shook his head, "The earliest recorded history was level 12, but I have no doubt it goes much higher than that. Legends spoke of Kitsune Dragon Warriors that reached as high as twenty even thirty tails of power, but legends are just that, legends. We do not know if they can actually reach that high, but then again all legends are based on some fact…"
Glynda was flabbergasted at the level of tails, but her logical side that it was not a possibility to be that powerful and not go unnoticed and unrecorded in history by the people surrounding them.
Battlefield
The four moved over to where the group with Nymph hovering behind them, "Odissia, Gaia get the artifacts." Ladon ordered. He looked towards Nymph, to the group, than back to Kira, "You guys go. We'll hold back Kira."
Ruby was about to protest, but was stopped by Gaia, "He's right, you should go. We can cover you till you're clear." Gaia moved ahead of the group and stood next Ladon, the artifact tucked away.
Odissia sauntered pass Ruby and co. her piece in hand, "it's work, but we're the only ones who can hold her back long enough for you guys to get clear." She pulled out her twin pistols and hung them lazily on her side.
"Yup~ we're going to have some fun~" Nymph sang as her bow materialized in her hand. Ladon held out his sword and pointed it at Kira.
"Well since Nymph decided to break our restriction, I guess keeping low profiles are out of the question now." He said before his eye started to glow hitting every color of the spectrum, he smirked when he heard the sound of chains shattering. His aura spiked several levels of power and a heavy presence engulfed everyone bringing them to their knees, all, except Yang and Kira. They were relatively unaffected by the oppressive presence.
Gaia eyes began to glow as green haze engulfed her person, sounds of vines snapping and trees cracking filled the ears of everyone present. Another presence filled the air but this one was comforting, motherly almost. The presence lifted those around as if they were safe from all harm. Gaia's veins began to glow brighter than before and series of weapons started circling around, ranging from swords, chakrams and spears. In her hands two magnums spawned.
Shadow tendrils lifted from the ground below Odissia and began to dance around her like the blackest flames from the pits of hell. Her eyes were no longer blue, they started glowing a midnight purple. A sinister blood thirsty presence filled the air around her and the area around her became cold, void of any life. The once vibrant lush green grass that surrounded her was now; brown and crunchy, the dirt was dryer then a desert as if the very life was sucked out of it because in reality… it was.
The area around Nymph began to grow rapidly, flowers grew from nothing the grass became even more vibrant, everyone around her felt their spirits raise, and their Aura grows stronger. They felt stronger faster and most of all ready, her mere presence rallied everyone.
Kira, however, was unaffected by such spikes in aura because to her, they were abominations specs waiting to be wiped from existence.
Regardless of the show of power, the bystanders, being Ruby and Co. were worried for their fellow initiates' safety.
"You guys don't need to fight her! We can just run and get to Beacon and have the Professors fight them off! We're not ready for someone of this caliber!" Weiss shouted, hoping to sway them from fighting the powerful Grimm in front of them.
The four of them looked back at her, "Normally we would, but now that the Sjach Kepesk know our location it would be pointless to run." Odissia drawled.
"She's right; they will kill anyone and everyone to get to us." Gaia followed up behind Odissia.
Nymph hovered lower, "We can't let anything happen to anyone else."
"Enough people have died because we chose to run and hide behind someone else. We have the blood of many on us, even innocents. I can't let us be indirect cause of more senseless deaths…"
"We have enough on our conscious." They spoke in unison and made their approach to Kira and the two Grimm.
"But-" Weiss was stopped by a hand on her shoulder, Blake's hand to be precise. Weiss turned back to Blake and saw her shaking her head.
"Don't… They've been through a lot more than you know…" Blake explained, Weiss for the first time saw Blake show emotion on her face, regret was heavy along with sadness.
"How do you know?"
Blake's bow twitched, "I traveled with them for a while before Beacon, until we parted on less than friendly terms and I'm still paying for it today…" Her eyes flickered towards the group and back to Weiss.
Yang heard her and remembered the night before and interrupted the two before Weiss could question more, "Look we should get going. We won't have much time until they start fighting."
"I think we should go, though we should take those two Grimm with us they won't be able to fight that giant fox at full force if they had to constantly switch their focus."
Ren nodded, "That would be the most efficient way of dealing with the Grimm."
"Ruby makes a point; it would be unfair to have them fight all three while we run." Pyrrah put her two cents in.
Jaune sighed, "Alright, I was hoping to avoid the fight, but looks like we no longer have a choice in the matter." Jaune's mature fashion caught everyone off guard especially Weiss, Pyrrah was only somewhat surprised, but she was always good at judging people.
Blake piped in, "We should get moving they're already engaging Kira."
They looked towards Ladon and Co. who were dodging Kira's flame and sending their own back at her, confirming her statement.
Everyone nodded, Ruby was the first to move, and she used her semblance to blast past everyone and straight at the Nevermore. Weiss, Blake and Yang followed in suit.
Jaune activated his Aura and channeled it to his legs increasing his speed. Once again, Pyrrah, Ren and Nora were surprised by his control, "Oh… Jaune is moving so fast! Let's catch up!" Nora ran off after Jaune, giggling as she did so.
"NORA!" Ren followed after her, leaving Pyrrah behind, "Wow, I didn't think he could act that mature…" Pyrrah's cheeks started glowing…
"Pyrrah come on!" Jaune yelled from where he was blocking a strike from the strange Death Stalker, Pyrrah shook her head and made way to him, switching her weapon into rifle mode and firing off several rounds as she did so.
The rounds impacted the Grimm, eliciting growls of annoyance from it. Now that the attention of the Death Stalker was sufficiently gained, Jaune made a movement with his hands to the others telling them to move away from the temple clearing, "Nora, Pyrrah keep firing! We need its attention on us! Ren support me! We'll clear out the smaller Grimm as we make way towards the cliffs!" No one questioned his orders as they were too surprised by his sudden shift to Command of the group.
Jaune looked back at the group seeing that they were surprised by this, "Now is not the time! Let's move!" He ran passed the Grimm slashing at several unarmored points, the Death Stalker was easily attracted to the one that caused it pain and took pot shot at Jaune with its stinger. Jaune sixth sense warned him immediately, with a jump and twist he enlarged his shield and blocked the strike with a tilt he managed to redirect all momentum off him and send the stinger into the ground. The Death Stalker growled as it tried to pull its tail from ground, failing every time.
Jaune landed just as the rest of his team arrived, not wasting times with words he took off over the hill.
"Did that…" Ren asked as his voice trailed off, Pyrrah nodded with a smile, "It did."
"Jaune was so cool!" Nora said excitedly, as she followed after Jaune with Pyrrah and Ren in tow.
The Death Stalker raced after the group after successfully pulling out its stinger from the ground. It followed them over the mountain, only to be hit by several grenades from Nora, who was smiling with every successful impact. The Death Stalker shook itself to shake off the damage only to be met by the rounds of a rifle, compliments of Pyrrah.
Up ahead Jaune and Ren were mowing through Beowolves, Ren would shoot the beowolves in the legs and then the head staggering them, Jaune would move in with his Sword and shield, striking them across the face exposing their necks and he would finish them off with his sword. The ones Ren couldn't hit were knocked back with an Aura enforced shield before Ren would stab them through the head with Storm Flower's blade.
Jaune ducked under one of the Beowolves and swept its legs with his sword, dismembering them. The Beowolve fell forward and Jaune swung his sword upwards and cut it in half, turning into ash before it hit the ground. He wasn't ready for a surprise attack and was hit full force and launched into a group of Grimm.
Pyrrah just turned around from hitting the Death Stalker with a few rounds and saw Jaune get tossed by the hidden Omega. "JAUNE!"
Ren just finished off his group of beowolves beforehand, when he heard Pyrrah shout Jaune's name, his head snapped towards Jaune's area and saw him on the ground groaning. Several Beowolves surrounded his prone body ready to strike him down, but a strong wind blew pass him, the next thing he knew, a loud high caliber rifle sounded off and several of the Beowolves had huge holes throughout their bodies and the rest slid in half with Rose petals floating around.
"Hey Jaune, you okay?"
He looked up and nodded, "Yeah, thanks Ruby. I owe you one."
"No worries Jaune."
Pyrrah let out a breath she didn't even know she was holding the moment she saw Ruby offering Jaune a hand up, Ren was on the same boat.
Jaune gripped her hand and was hoisted up and he patted the dust of his body, "Not that I'm ungrateful, why are you here?"
Ruby looked at him and tilted her head in confusion, "What do you mean?"
Jaune shook his head, "I thought you were fighting off the freaky Nevermore with your group?"
Ruby 'o' with her mouth and pointed her thumb back towards the sky, the moment he looked he saw the Nevermore flying overhead with Yang running below it firing shells wherever she can hit, "Woohoo! Hey bird brains you like that!"
Weiss was running ahead of the Nevermore occasionally firing off different dust elements at its beak trying to keep it irritated so it keeps moving. Blake was jumping along the trees, swinging Gambol Shroud by its Ribbon at the Nevermore, constantly using her shadows to get close enough to do so.
They were so focused on everything else that they forgot about the Omega and it was fast approaching the unaware duo.
The Omega's plan was not to be because it was stopped by several shots from what would be a machine pistol, but it wasn't Ren who fired them. The Omega jumped back to avoid the rounds, it quickly scanned its surroundings, but was unprepared when it was struck with the butt of a Naginata making it stumble slightly. The Grimm recovered quickly and looked towards its attacker, but didn't get a chance to it was struck on the snout with a foot. The Omega roared and swung its arm at the unknown assailant, and was successful if the scream of pain was anything to go by.
"Damn it! That huuurrt!" a female voice whined childishly as she stood back up, this caught the attention of Ruby and Jaune's group, Ruby was the first to see the newcomer; She has a pale complexion, probably the palest she's ever seen. Ruby could tell she had a very athletic but still curvy build and to her chagrin, large B-cups. Her hair color was a shade of red and orange to be specific, it was two toned, black and a prominent orange, and her eyes matched her hair which is a surprisingly unique combination. (Think blue green eyes or search it)
She wore a very tight, orange running jacket that shows off her figure, hence how she was able to tell her body type and size. She could see a black, athletic turtle neck shirt peeking from under her jacket and a golden locket around her neck. To further highlight her womanly curves she wore black yoga pants and around her waist was a belt that crookedly hung on her hips with a single holster, it looked like the size of a pencil, a pen maybe? Ruby couldn't confirm, but she knew it was small. Ruby looked towards her arms and noticed that around her right wrist were three golden bands that didn't touch her arm. To finish off her athletic ensemble she wore a pair of orange running shoes.
She didn't get the chance to question the girl's appearance as Death Stalker pushed back Nora and Pyrrha and the Nevermore shook off Ruby's group. This was further authenticated when both groups made it back to their perspective members panting, huffing and looking worse for wear.
"That Nevermore isn't taking any damage like it was before. Whatever that black haze is, it's absorbing all damage directed at it. At most we're irritating it." Blake explained her observations.
"Not to mention that black Haze was eating at your ribbon, it's most likely caustic." Weiss pointed out to Blake, who looked towards her ribbon and it was in fact damaged by the haze.
"Aww… that means I can't punch it." Yang complained with her shoulders sagging.
Pyrrha confirmed Blake's theories, "Same with the Death Stalker, it seems impervious to most, if not all of our low level abilities."
"I don't meant to interrupt our strategy meeting, but the Grimm is coming back around and moving in fa-DODGE!" The Nevermore flapped its wings and fired several feathers. Blake used her shadow to move out of the way, Weiss summoned a glyph below her and Jaune, boosting the both of them out of the way. Ruby used her semblance to avoid each feather that struck the floor. Ren copied Jaunes earlier tactic and channeled aura into his legs making him quick enough to dodge the feathers. Nora, well, she shot the floor launching her out of range, and Yang employed the same tactic. Pyrrha was the furthest from its range and moved out of the way quickly.
Unfortunately they jumped out of the frying pan and right in to the fire, the moment they cleared the Nevermore they were assaulted by a number of earth pillars, to make matters worse the Death Stalker slammed its claw into the ground causing the soil to split open and travel towards Ren, the rupture branching off towards the others in the vicinity.
"Damn! Move, Move!" Jaune shouted, as he tried to run out of range of the Death Stalkers attack, the Nevermore was not idle either, it was shooting of constant blast of winds from its wings making it nigh impossible to jump without get blown back down or away.
While they were dealing with their troubles, the newcomer was having difficulties trying to land decent hits on The Omega, she would thrust her weapon the Omega would redirect the attack or dodge it completely, and it in turn would attack, but she would be too slow dodge it and barely manage to block its attacks.
She was panting heavily, the attacks wearing on her and that say a lot for some with her stamina, "Man, your tough! I can't land a hit on you!" She said between heavy breaths and pants, The Omega growled, not really caring it just wanted her dead. It swung and slashed and pushed on till her hand slipped off her weapon and gave the beast the necessary opening to send her flying across the clearing, the constant blast of wind only further making her launch worse as she sped to twice the momentum of the original hit.
She flew through several pillars of rock, each one leaving a cut or scratch on her back and tears on her clothes. She would have crashed through another one but she was picked out of the air by a 6'5" muscular person, if what she was feeling being held is any clue, and a tan complexion. She looked up and saw his dirty blond hair that is styled in a buzz cut and yellow owlish looking eyes.
The man landed a distance away, "Robin, you all right?" He tried balancing a now named, Robin on her feet.
She stumbled for a bit before regaining her balance and nodded. She brought her head back to level the moment her head cleared and took in the man's attire;
The man wore an azure marshmallow vest and shoulder pads connected to a back plate maybe? She couldn't tell, but something had to holding up those shoulder, until she noticed twin leather straps with various pouches made for a variety of item storage, it formed an 'x' on his chest, which was oddly unprotected.
'Definitely a back plate'
Underneath the vest is a black long sleeved shirt, the sleeves clearly visible at the end of them, his hands were adorned with light azure gloves and wristbands. She looked towards his pants and notice that they were a medium shade of blue, covered by shin guards and knee pads.
A shimmer of silver brought her attention to his azure Fleur de Lis medallion that decorated his neck. Just over his shoulder you could see a white quiver with an azure trim.
"Robin, has your brain been knocked out of whack so much that you can't recognize your own partner?" He said amusedly with a chuckle.
"Apollo! When did you get here?! I remember fighting this really huge grey Beowulf for a while, but then I got tired and blam! I was sent flying through the air like a freaking bird! It was so cool! I'm sleepy now…" She wobbled a bit before stabling herself, "Oh… but I can't sleep now. We have to fight off that huge Beowulf thing so the other teams can take out those other really powerful Grimm!" She spoke quickly and just as fast as she spoke she took off towards the Omega again, this time with her partner Apollo.
The two found another duo fighting off the Omega, a pair of twins from the look of it. They were holding their own pretty well against the Omega.
"They must have been fighting together for years." Apollo pointed out, "It would make sense they're twins after all."
"We should give them a hand anyway!" Robin didn't allow Apollo a chance to respond and rocketed straight towards the Omega.
Apollo sighed but smiled and ran after her. Touching base with robin he was able to get a good look at the two brothers. That he assumed they were brothers because, well, they look like freaking twins!
Bringing his thoughts back to the brother on the left; He was extremely pale even more so than Robin or anyone he's seen before, like that white haired chick with the Schnee emblem, she was rather attractive.
Focusing back to the pale man, he could tell the guy had a somewhat skinny build, but athletic at the same time because of how heavy looking his clothes are. They're more than likely made a good full body work out that more or less attested to an athletic build, hence, his earlier observation. He was probably around 6'1 much shorter than himself as he was a solid 6'5, he didn't seem very tall to him, but then again everyone is short to him so it makes his observation irrelevant. He's definitely taller than most people though.
Though the first thing he noticed was the spiked green hair which doesn't match anything that guy wears except for the eyes and shoes.
Speaking of his eyes, it's forest green like his hair. Another oddity about the guy is the fuchsia colored heavy jacket with, 'Is that fur inside it? It's a warm day today, a comforting warm though.' Then he noticed the thick pair of fuchsia pants.
'He must not like cold or something because he's wearing a lot of thick clothing' Looking down, he saw he wore a pair of forest green high top shoes.
Though a really interesting thing about him was the weapon he was swinging at the Omega; it looked like a simple round piece of metal, attached to a chain, which is attached to the handle, a Flail from the looks of it. Every time he swung it there was a loud boom, almost like shotguns shell, buckshot round to be accurate and if the huge gashes on the ground were any indication, a 32-gauge barrel.
He then changed his focus to the brother on his right; they were definitely twins all right, everything about their facial features and body types were the same all the way to their size a tone of skin, their major difference were their opposite color schemes, instead of green hair, eyes and shoes they were Fuchsia.
It would seem this brother wore much lighter clothing instead of the thick jackets and pants like his brother, He wore a Forest green hoodie that covered his fuchsia t-shirt that he can see peeking out of the neckhole and fuchsia pants.
'He definitely doesn't go for style, it looks more towards comfort than anything else… He's a bit of an eye sore.' It would seem like he also wore plain grey light armor, on various points though it covered mostly vital areas, nothing overly big, just enough to protect him.
He looked at his weapon and deadpanned, 'A freaking pitchfork you got to be kidding me, out of all the weapons he could have gotten, and he got the green pitch fork…'
He would have mind ranted longer, but he was shut up when one of the prongs of the pitch fork slid open and starting discharging several dozen rounds per second. He couldn't tell what the round was but he's pretty sure it was a type of Assault or LMG round. He was surprised again when the end of the pole turned into a blade, to which the Fuchsia haired kid blocked an attack from the Omega pushing him back and allowing him to fire off the fast firing pitchfork again.
'Okay, not a useless green pitchfork.'
"Hey, buddy you just going to stand there and stare and look pretty? Or are you going to help us out?" The one on the right said, jumping back from an attack while the green haired twin swung the flail boosting it with a shotgun blast towards the Omega and hitting it directly causing it to stumble, that's when Robin came in and started taking nips at its arms and legs with Naginata, hoping to slow down the overgrown Beowulf.
Apollo was snapped from his observations and smirked arrogantly, "Of course, I just wanted you guys to get your hits before I finish it off!"
The green haired twin rolled his eyes, "Idiot…" that was all he murmured when Apollo moved into the temporarily incapacitated Omega's guard, with single swift movement he removed his twin axes from his back and took a horizontal slash at the Omega's upper Torso, but the Grimm moved back just enough to only gain a gash on its stomach. Apollo followed up with a vertical slash, but that was immediately halted when the Omega's claw came out of nowhere and struck him on the chest making him stumble back several feet.
Apollo looked up and saw that the gash on its stomach was healed along with the nips at his arms and legs.
"How did it heal so fast…?" Apollo was shocked that the gash was no longer there as if he never struck it at all.
The Fuchsia haired twin spoke up, "Hey Tom, we need to find a way to get around that regeneration factor, it's killing us bro! Every time we manage to land a blow it heals almost instantaneously!"
The now named Tom, spoke in irritancy, "Yes, Carson I know… I've been trying to come up with a plan for the past fifteen minutes… We either need a one shot kill or damage it enough to slow its regeneration down, so we can deliver the final blows and kill it, but its skin is an armor itself."
Carson looked at him confusingly, "But we've been cutting him up with our attacks, SO his skin can't be armor." Robin nodded thinking along the same lines as him.
Tom sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose, "The only reason we're able to damage it is because we're subconsciously reinforcing our body and weapons with Aura and we do not have an unlimited amount Aura to continue doing so."
Carson tried to say something, but was immediately shut down by Tom, "Now if you shut and let me come up with a plan, we might be able to kill it."
The Omega roared with a black haze flaring around it and charged the squad, Apollo took a battle stance, "Well make it snappy that Omega isn't giving us any more time to strategize!" He charged the Omega head on, "I'm going to break this bastard's arms!"
Robin smiled and charged with him, "Oh yeah! Time to fight!"
Carson pouted, "Don't start without me! I want in on this to!" with that he charged behind them.
Tom rolled his eyes, "I'm surrounded by morons, but I suppose there are worse partners…" He thought back to the crazed guy with the top hat, he shuddered at the memory, "Okay my best bet would be to observe the battle from a distance."
Choosing to sit back and observe he began collecting data and formulate a plan.
Elsewhere
A giant spiked tail smashed the ground, splintering the earth. The tail was trailed by several white thorns that acted as a defensive offensive armor, connecting to its two toned black and grey body which was also covered by a copious amount of thorns similar thorns to the ones on its tail and solid brown eyes. The unknown Grimm retracted its tail and started swinging it through the air trying to hit the annoying fly in the air.
The fly being Minaka; His hair is black, messy, and spiky, his eyes were brown with black slits with a red tinge that showed a reptilian Faunus Heritage. His upper body is covered by a black trench coat with a tattered bottom and white outlines, and a black V-neck under it that can be seen through the unzipped jacket. He wears black suit pants and black loafers with clips on them.
On his back, is a pair of dragon wings flapping about keeping him airborne as he shot quick streams of flames from his mouth, that didn't seem to be doing much to the Grimm.
In his hands were his weapons he calls Dragon-Shot; they were a jet black in color, they appeared to be pistols if the rounds he were firing were an indicator.
"Emily, see if you can do some damage from down there!" He yelled to a girl with long flowing brown hair, with her hair seemingly reflecting the light… That's probably a testament to how smooth it is her hair reaches to her waist it has two turquoise streaks going down it and with a close enough observation, you could see a pair of hair-bands. Her bangs covered her right eye, only showing her piercing blue left eye that appears to glow within the light.
Her attire consists of a blue sleeveless tang-top, along with an open loose-collared turquoise jacket with the sleeves rolled up. Her tang-top has two zippers, both on her breast, though to some may look very touchable, but it's not recommended for health reasons and if they value their life.
Her pants are black dress-jeans with white sneakers. Wrapped around her neck is a dark blue and black scarf she wears with one end hanging down to her waist in front of her, and the other end doing the same, just behind her, but it's covered by her jacket.
She nodded, "On it Minaka!" She looked to her left towards a man with a rather insane smile and blood red eyes; He wore a white top-hat with all four jacks fanned on the left side. They're held on by the black circle going around the top-hat. He wears a white suit-jacket over a white suit-vest, and has a black bow-tie.
His pants are of course white suit-pants, and his shoes are actually candy cane striped. His gloves are of the same design, and so is his hair. His hair doesn't really have a rhyme or reason giving him the look of a mad man with a fabulous fashion sense.
"Hatter lend me a hand, we need to distract it so Zero can come up with a plan!" She yelled to the Mad-Hatter.
His grin grew, "Oh! I can't wait to make fabulous art from this Beast!"
"Zero how long is this going to take?" Minaka asked a masked man; his mask covers up his entire face, and some parts of the back of his head. The front is shiny and black, and the edges spike backwards. He has grey hair that goes backwards due to his mask, and the edges of it are always black. He wears a buttoned up grey trench-coat, and grey suit pants. He has brown loafers, and grey finger-less gloves.
"Longer, if you keep asking." His voice is monotone, as he tried to observe the beasts attack patterns, formulating a plan to bring down the rather powerful Grimm.
"Well, rush it." Minaka responded carelessly, he tried shooting the beast with his weapons, but once again they were absorbed by the black haze surrounding it, or when he makes it through its too weak to bother it and more or less feel like a minor annoyance to the Grimm.
"Duly noted." He replied, his voice never changing. Minaka paid his response no attention and went back to try and damage the Grimm.
Emily was quickly getting frustrated that she hasn't been able, to land a decent hit on the spiked Grimm. Every time she got close its spikes would burst out piercing everywhere around it. She would try range attacks, but whatever the black haze was, it was absorbing each shot or completely negating it. Her weapon were twin tonfas that are multi transformable, currently she had them in Twin Assault mode and firing round after round at the Thorny Grimm, the shots only served to irritate it. Her shotgun mode would be extremely useful… unfortunately; she couldn't get within five feet to get the necessary amount of stopping power to damage it without being immediately made into Swiss cheese.
"Damn it! Hatter, see if you can get me an opening!" She started running to the Grimm's left waiting for any type of opening; she curved around it, ducking under a swipe it would have attacked her again if it wasn't for the multitude of bullets hitting it on the opposite side of her accompanied by a deranged laugh.
Taking a chance, she ran towards the beast, switching the Bloody Harpies to its twin shotgun mode and slid under the Grimm. She brought up her tonfas, now shotguns and fired several shots into its underbelly, the beast was clearly not ready for such an attack and screamed in pain and started extending its spikes at random intervals forcing Emily to dodge and roll around as she slid under the massive beast, eventually coming out the other side nearly unscathed with only a few scratches stinging around her body.
The thorny Grimm flailed its tail and writhed in pain, the black haze flickering on and off before it completely winked out of existence, the twisted and foul that was emanating off it disappeared along with it.
"Good job, Emily. It seems my mental message got through to you. Now that it's ability to heal and natural reinforcement from the miasmic black dust that was emitting from its resilient carapaces is gone we should be able to kill this beast without worry." Zero spoke as he lifted a brief case that seemed to radiate Aura, "Now I will be able to get Infinity a trial run, considering the tweaks I did earlier today, it should be much easier to control now."
Zero lifting his briefcase he called Infinity, in front of him, and began channeling his aura through the briefcase. A split second later it transformed into a gleaming silver magnum with a blade attached to the barrel, "It definitely takes less now."
Minaka landed next to Zero, "Zero, connect each of our minds with your semblance and relay the plan so we can finish off this thing quickly, the asshole is becoming harder to keep in check. Any longer, I might just lose control and kill you guys."
To any other third parties, it would be extremely eerie to hear how relaxed he said that.
Zero got the hint and activated his semblance connecting all their minds to a central hub he called Sanctuary. 'Minaka, Emily, Hatter are you all connected?'
'Gotchya.'
'Yup.'
'Most fabulous Zero, I can hear your most fabulous voice!'
'Indeed, now onto the plan…'
Ozpin & Glynda
"Hm…" Ozpin looked through his scroll constantly moving from video feed to video feed. 'I don't remember these Grimm ever being this powerful, especially Grimm with ability to use Aura and control over elements. These interferences, while not especially deadly even for this particular group of students, are rather disconcerting.'
Glynda's eyes were constantly switching between the different feeds as well, her worry still clearly evident, "Ozpin, I do not are understand why you refuse to help our students, do you not worry for them? These are Grimm are above their level of combat training."
"No, the only ones I worry for are Ladon's group with their most… unfortunate circumstances, but they have to face this battle… alone. I will not allow cowards into my school." His voice is flat and even during the end of his statement.
"In case you didn't read their bio's from Qrow, they have a habit running from their problems and many have died in their wake. Now I can't completely fault them for the circumstances of their birth, but I can fault them when they refused to fight and let more innocence die." His voice while not as harsh before, still had an edge to it.
"There bio's never mentioned their bloodline and its dangers, but it did mention their involvement with the White Fang and his abandonment of said organization. He was the sole reason why the White Fang dropped in so much power." Glynda recalled as she pulled up their profile.
"It says they were constantly chased by an unknown assailant(s) Qrow was never able to confirm who the assassins were, but he made reference to an old name that hasn't been heard since before the Faunas revolution, the Sjach Kepesk in other words…" Her eyes widened at the translation, "The Shadows' Storm."
"Exactly, an ancient order stemming from the alliance of Dragons and Kitsunes with a single common goal; To hunt and execute Dragon-Kitsune mix breeds." Ozpin's voice was for the most part calm, but for those who knew him then was unbridled disgust in his voice.
Glynda soon realized what his meant, "Are you saying, that if this group the; Shadows' Storm is actively hunting them down and killing anyone who stands in their way." Ozpin didn't give a response, but for Glynda that was all that was needed to answer her question.
"That's even more reason why we should stop the initiation, the fact that they are all holding their own against high level Grimm should be enough for them to be accepted! They even have formed their own teams already! What more could you want Ozpin?" She was angry, rightfully so, In disbelief, no comprehension, but most of all worried. The students have proven themselves so far, but why is what ran through her mind.
Ozpin glanced up from his scroll, his eyes were apathetic, "Your worry is appropriate, but when faced with insurmountable odds, a person's soul is revealed and their burdens are lifted…" He leveled her with a gaze, it wasn't his normal one it was one that held limitless faith in his own students, a faith so powerful that nothing will deter it,
"These young men and women are powerful, every single one in their own right, no matter the odds these students will survive and they will be more powerful than before they went in. After all…" He gave a rare smile, "They are our students." His piece said, he looked back down at his scroll and zoomed in on the final team. Glynda did not say anything she merely looked at her own scroll to also watch the final group.
Ruined Temple
"It looks like there are only two pieces left…" A feminine voice called out, as she walked up the moss covered steps towards their artifact.
"Damn, I knew we were taking too long…" Another feminine voice called out, though her voice a held a hint of superiority. She moved across the floor to one of the many empty pedestals that once held an artifact upon it. She looked around noticing that a ways off the temple vicinity had a long trench extending from the far side of the forest.
"I wonder what happened here…" the first female asked looking towards her partner; she was maybe 5'7 which was only an inch taller than herself, her skin tone was a light peach like her hair though it was more vibrant in color. A burnt orange circlet adorned her head with the color matching her eyes it was an alluring feature..
Her chest was covered by a burnt orange armor piece with an intricate dragon design around it. The armor cut off right above her naval and underneath it is a black Kevlar skintight mesh that masked her entire torso. Her sides had three strips of silver armor on each side. Her curves were not lost in the armor since it followed every single curve revealing a c-cup borderline d-cup chest.
'At least she's attractive under all that armor, can't say the same for her personality…' she mentally quipped, before returning back to her observation.
The most impressive feature to her was what was behind her; a pair of gold wings with the feathers outlined in a shade of purple that fluttered in the slight breeze every now and then that gave off an angelic feel.
Her shoulders have burnt orange stacked pauldrons, following her arms which were covered by silver vambraces that were molded to the shape of a dragons head each pair of eyes held a peculiar set of gems her left one held midnight purple gems with her right socketed with golden gems they shined in the setting sun. Further down she wore triple jointed gauntlets and stretched across her hands towards her fingers, covering them into a look alike of dragon claws.
Her hips contained to sheathes, a purple on her left and a gold one her right, nothing else was visible except the handles that matched her armor. They were placed on upon a burnt orange skirt dragon design armor that showed off more Kevlar mesh. A pair of burnt orange grieves and boots covered her feet and parts of her calf.
"I don't know Indira, maybe a fight." She spoke derisively towards her unaffected partner; she was a little shorter than herself, light brown hair in a side ponytail that defied gravity and curved to her left in an 's' like fashion reaching just below her posterior and a single antennae, hair strand, in front of her hair and reached just above her nose.. Her eyes were burgundy and a light complexion.
Her entire body was covered by a form fitting burgundy open back dress with black accents trailing to make a red, orange, and gold phoenix. The dress left little to imagination as it showed off all her curves. Upfront is a slit right above the chest that revealed an ample amount of cleavage from her high c-cup breast.
At the end of her wrist were two gauntlets, She called The Twin Phoenixes; an eight bladed gauntlet that transitions between three colors red, orange, gold all around the gauntlet.
The two middle blades curve into each other with the two outer blades curving outwards, between the outer blade and inner blade were two more smaller blades, the opposite being an exact imitation, a blue glow emanated from the short blades, while the longer blades were faintly glowing a golden orange.
Near the end of the dress were two vertical slits that showed off her legs and revealed burgundy latex hotpants. Her feet were covered by burgundy tabi shoes with golden accents.
Indira rolled her eyes at her partner's obvious superiority complex, "You're rather feisty aren't you, Aurora?"
Aurora gave her a pointed look, "Whatever… you imbecile. Grab the damn piece and lets' go. We're already late as is…"
Her face gained a mock of dramatics, "Oh no! We're going to fail because we're last! Get over it." She deadpanned.
Aurora glared at Indira and she glared back, "How did I get stuck with an oaf like you!" Aurora shouted allowing her annoyance to be known.
"Man the sexual tension is heavy between you two…" An amused feminine voice called out, there gazes broke and looked towards the front steps again and saw two people;
On the left was a female, the one who apparently yelled out at the two, her grin may also play a factor; She had Purple hair that just reaches to her shoulders, hazel eyes, beach-goer's tan a symbol of a yellow sun shining down on a blooming purple flower on her left arm.
She wore sleeveless leather armor with a form fitting purple tank top underneath it and a bandolier for the various amounts of ammunition she carries around that goes across her chest from her left shoulder
Her right hip held a revolver holster, to which a pair of purplish-blue relaxed fit jeans tucked into black heavy duty combat boots.
Next to her was a guy with short, slick, brownish-blond hair with blue highlights, Icy blue eyes, and a white Stetson. He wore a Dark blue long-sleeved button-up shirt and an open dark-blue long-sleeved duster overcoat carrying his symbol; a light-blue raven flying upwards leaving white contrails behind it, on the back. Moving on, he wore Light blue metal gauntlets with fingerless gloves attached denim blue jeans with navy blue armor on his shins.
The guy snickered revealing his wolf like fangs, Aurora was the first to speak, "And who are you?" Aurora demanded her superiority leaking into her voice.
Indira once again rolled her eyes at her partner's social skills or lack thereof. "Excuse my partner's tone, The name is Indira Phoenix and she is…"
Aurora growled at Indira, but responded introduced herself anyway, "Aurora NAranga." She said curtly.
"A pleasure, my name is Riley Porfiro and this is my partner, Cobalt Thompson." She said with a friendly smile a pointed at the guy next her. The now named Cobalt waved slightly if shyly.
Indira raised a single brow, "He doesn't talk much, does he?"
Riley laughed at her assumption,, "Pfft… yeah right. Once he gets comfortable he'll either be the most entertaining person ever or…"
Aurora scoffed derisively, "I doubt it..." she crossed her arms under chest and looked away.
Riley cleared her throat, "…Or the opposite, completely and utterly annoying." Cobalt blushed at that little fact.
Aurora smirked, "That seems more like it…" She looked at Cobalt in a critical manner, forcing him to blush some more and look away. "He looks like he couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag. The only thing he seems to have going for him is his height, even then he's probably still useless."
"Yeah, yeah Aurora… you really need to get that stick out of your ass. Come on lets go before you scare the poor guy away." She walked away with their artifact, though Aurora was annoyed by her comment she followed anyways.
Indira gave a final look back and shouted, "Sorry about her! See ya guys back at the cliffs!" Aurora didn't even bother to look back.
Riley and her partner moved back up the steps and grabbed the final artifact, "Well her partner is right, she does have a stick up her ass." Cobalt quipped to Riley.
She laughed and smiled, "You got that right… a shame she looked really attractive, even her partner was hot." She grinned and looked at Cobalt, he couldn't help but gulp, "But they still got nothing on my little wolf boy." she shouted as she glomped him and squished him in an anime-esque fashion.
Cobalt started blushing and spoke with a stutter, trying to push her off "R-riley, st-stop that! We're in a combat zone!"
She squished him for a few more seconds and jumped back, "Aw…is my little wolf embarrassed, even though there is no one else here?" She gave him a flirty smirk.
He started blushing some more, "N-no, I-I'm not! It's just that we're in hostile territory still a-nd th-this isn't a-appropriate right now."
She smirked mischievously, "Are you sure~? Your blush says otherwise~."
Cobalt opened his mouth, but no words came out. He tried and tried again but to no avail, Riley just laughed at him. Eventually he sighed in defeat and just walked away towards the direction Indira and Aurora went,
"Aw… don't be like that! I was only teasing!" She shouted laughing and followed after him.
Indira and Aurora
"You really need to learn to shut your mouth!" Indira shouted as she brought up a golden orange shield deflecting a heavy blow from a huge bulky Grimm.. The attack sent her skidding back, but the huge Grimm was not left without damage either, upon collision a burst of flames surrounded by several arcs of lightning discharged against the Brutish Grimm sending it staggering back.
"Hey it's your fault for being so damn annoying!" Aurora fired back; she directed the little sunlight left from sunset and directed it towards the red eyes of the Grimm. And concentrated its UV rays and intensified to not only stun the brute for a moment, but to destroy its eyesight completely.
The Brute roared and began to thrash around from the intensity of the UVs directed at it.
"Ugh… We'll argue about it later! Now keep your UV rays on it so I Can finish it!"
While not particularly thrilled by the idea of being ordered around, she complied regardless. Focusing the rays on the Brute of a Grimm she condensed te rays into a full on beam slowly burning through its armored hide.
Indira was dashing forward trying to smooth right under the flailing limbs, for the ones she couldn't avoid she activated a hard-light to take the brunt of the attack while dishing out her own. She weaved through the limbs and got right under its head, her right gauntlet began to transform; the longer blades retracted and rotated below the wrist forming an unusual open barrel with miasmas of golden orange moving from one blade to another.
The short blades moved together and began to glow a much darker blue. She cocked back her arm and uppercutted the poor beast just as the barrel charged up and fired a solid hard-light round cleanly through its neck, turning it into flakes of hard-light that were immediately absorbed into her gauntlet..
There was short blip sound that grabbed the attention of Aurora who was panting a bit, "What in Remnant was that thing? It was hideous and I seem some extensively disgusting Grimm. It looked like a science experiment gone wrong. While on that note what was that blip sound?"
Aurora walked over to her partner, "It's a device an old friend of mine from Atlas built. Whenever I kill something with my hard-light abilities and they turn into the flakes you just saw and are immediately absorbed by my gauntlets and transferred to this little device."
She pulled out small cellular like device from the slit on her leg, she tapped the screen and a picture of the Grimm they just defeated appeared; The Brute as it were, was a huge black Grimm with midnight purple bone plating that covered the entirety of the arms and back with veins of red, leaving the under belly exposed.
"Another neat feature is the info button; it gives a short explanation of the beast assuming it has information on it." She tapped a question mark and the picture flipped and showed a small paragraph.
"A Grimm that heavily relies on brute strength and its high resistance against Physical and Dust damage, it is extremely stupid, but for what it lacks in intellect it makes up for in raw strength. They are extremely stubborn, fight to kill not wound, wounding will only make it angrier and wilder." Aurora said out loud, but scoffed at the description.
"It's nothing but a primitive beast. No wonder it was killed so easily…"
Indira rolled her eyes, "Yeah, yeah we should-" She was interrupted when several huge bursts of Aura each one more oppressive than the last.
"What the hell!" Indira shouted with Aurora slowly turning towards the direction of the source, which was right over the mountain they were heading to.
Aurora snapped out of her daze, "We need to find out what is going on over there!" Her voice missing its usual superiority.
Indira nodded, but was soon stopped by a mysterious voice, "Rise my child, take this gift and rise from your void of despair." The voice was feminine and powerful, but distorted.
Then a roar.
Riley and Cobalt
"Cobalt, keep up! It came from this way!"
"Alright, I will sheeshe! Shouldn't we be running from huge burst of Aura that is significantly bigger than our own, combined." He retorted as he picked up pace.
"No, it's coming from the same direction those two girls went to." She rebuttable him and picked up pace yet again.
He sighed, "I suppose I can't stop you, let's get there and find out."
They moved across the clearings and through some foliage, weaving and bobbing between trees and over roots, the closer they got, they could hear more and sounds of fighting and battle screeches from an unknown Grimm. The noise was as painful as nails dragging across a chalkboard.
"Agh! My ears!" Cobalt yelled as he dropped to his knees with his white Stetson falling off his head as he grabbed his wolf ears.
Riley stopped her rush and turned around to see Cobalt struggling to get back up, "Oh god you okay?"
He shook his head, "I'm fine, I didn't expect it to affect me so much as it did." He shakily stood up, "Give me moment." He slowed down his breathing, his shake soon calmed itself and he moved forward towards his partner, "Okay I should be fine, let's go."
She nodded and resumed their pace, "If you say so…"
They approached a clearing where the sounds of battle were heavily evident; they broke through the foliage only for Cobalt to be hit by Indira, who was tossed by the massive Grimm before them.
Indira grunted and pushed up off of Cobalt, "Indira! Are you okay?!" Aurora shouted as she ran up to them and crouched down and lifted up Indira.
She nodded, "I'm fine…" She looked towards Cobalt and Riley, "How his Cobalt?"
Aurora looked towards the other duo, "I can't tell, Riley already has him… Riley, is he okay?" She asked with genuine concern in her voice.
Riley was surprised by the genuine concern and simply shook her head in an positive manner, there was another grunt, "I swear I just got hit by a really attractive truck…" He said unknown to the others besides Riley.
Indira gave a weak smile, "Glad you enjoyed my company…" She chuckled when his face snapped up with a very prominent blush.
"I-I uh, um, s-sorry…" He stuttered with his head averted away from them unable to make eye contact with her.
She chuckled once more, "It's fine, but-" her coughed interrupted her sentence.
Aurora chose to finish it off, "Can you help us? This beast is a lot strong than we realized, as you can tell we are not fairing so well…" she gestured to Indira and her own attire.
Now that they finally took the time to notice their state, they noticed all of the scuff marks, tears, and a few bloodstains. They weren't allowed anymore observation than that as the massive beast began to screech that same painful noise.
They looked towards the beast that was flapping towards them…
"What is that?"
The Edge of Emerald
A lone figure stood atop a cliff looking down on Emerald, "It would seem the abominations, have forgone their restrictions now. It would seem Kira's time is at an end… a shame really, I liked her." He grinned as his mask's red accents began to pulse, "This is going to be interesting now…"
HE jumped off the mountain and began to slide down the cliff, "I look forward to our rematch…" that was the last thing he said before pushing himself off the face of the cliff and disappearing into the tree canopy.
The only thing left was the sound of a dark chuckle that reverberated throughout the entire forest.
