Yes, this chapter is fairly short. Forgive me for that.

"Well then, since you defeated me, what kind of answers do you want? Oh, but I'll only answer one thing, so you better think carefully about what you want to know. And I'm not guaranteeing that I'll tell you anything. There are some things that I can't even yield to the person who managed to defeat me."

The soft voice of Misaka Mikoto echoed throughout the church. She sat in a pew with an arm on the back and absently flipping a coin in her other hand.

Kamijou sat on the pew across the aisle from her. He had Misaki lying next to him, still unconscious.

"Only one, huh… I guess I really shouldn't mess this up then."

There were so many things that he wanted to ask, but he knew that if he messed up this chance now, then he would find himself back at square one. This was not the time to mess around.

"That's right." Misaka said, nodding to herself. "I respect those with power, so you should be grateful that I'm answering any of your questions instead of calling for backup."

"How about this, then… Will you fight with me?"

"Rejected."

"That was quick."

Misaka laughed lightly, and the boy felt no malice coming from her.

"If I were to defect and join Myth, it would cause calamitous results. I wouldn't want to go disrupt the current balance the world has. However…" Instead of finishing that sentence, the girl shook her head. "Since that was such a stupid question, I'll allow you another chance."

Luckily, Kamijou had already decided on a backup question.

"Will you tell me about yourself? And about the others like you?"

"You really don't know the name Misaka Mikoto?"

"Sorry, but I have amnesia. I can't remember anything past a few months ago. I need information and I need it as quickly as possible. If this is going to turn into an all-out war between Myth and anybody else who has Keys, then I'm going to need to know just who I'm going up against."

Misaka caught the coin and shoved it in a pocket before sighing.

"There are nine of us, of which I am the fourth. Mind you, that does not mean I am the fourth most powerful, but the fourth person to join."

"Join?"

She shook her head as if it really didn't make sense that the boy was clueless on the subject.

"Last Order. We're a loose organization built simply on power and order. We deal with all the serious threats that nobody else could handle."

"Is that something like Broken Light?"

Tilting her head, she sighed.

"So you know about those idiots but not about us? Geez. I said that we're a loose organization. We only come together for threats. For example, if one of us was about to die, nobody else would try to come to their rescue. Same goes for me. I don't particularly like any of the other members."

Kamijou tried to process all of the information. If they were that loosely put together, how could they even trust each other to fight alongside one another?

"After all…" Misaka seemed to be looking off into the distance as she spoke. "Alone, we can be defeated, but together nobody can stand in our way."

Silence engulfed the room for a while and the girl finally stood up.

"Listen. I won't join you, but if you ever need help, I'll be willing to help you once. Of course, it depends on the situation. I won't do anything that goes against Last Order's interests."

"I wouldn't expect anything less." Kamijou nodded and smiled.

After a bit more conversation about if they happened to see each other again in the future, the boy woke Misaki up and led her out of the church.

"Have a safe trip back." Misaka said, giving a small smile and waving them off.

Kamijou stopped and contemplated something for a second before quickly turning back and walking up to the girl. He leaned his head down by her ear and the girl looked ready to strike at him before she heard the words he spoke.

"Do you know… a girl named Uiharu Kazari?"

After whispering that, he took a step back to gauge her reaction. After one look at her face, he assumed that the shock he saw wasn't from the fact that he had whispered in ear.

She looked like she wanted to say something, but shook her head and calmed down. With a sad smile, she spoke.

"I said I'd only answer one question, idiot."

For a minute, Kamijou just looked at her, but finally sighed and accepted defeat on the subject.

As he turned away and put his hand on Misaki's shoulder, preparing to teleport them both away, he said one more thing.

"Visit her grave sometime, Misaka. I'm sure she's lonely. Calculations complete. Activate spell."

A beach sprawled out before the boy, waves slowly coming up and hitting the shore, leaving behind various seashells and whatnot.

"Hah…" Kamijou took out a small black cylinder and stuck it into the sand. "O my most favoured guardian, bless me with your protection. I am your ever loyal servant, who seeks only to appease. Let not any intruder break through your kindness. Calculations complete. Activate spell."

A blue beam of light shot up from the cylinder into the night sky. It spread out a distance up and then slowly faded away. The cylinder slowly sank into the sand until it was no longer seen.

Kamijou quickly vacated the area before the authorities could come and investigate what the light was. As he walked down one busy street towards his apartment, he mumbled to himself.

"That's the last of them. Somebody would need some damn powerful magic to get through those without being detected."

"Is that so?"

"Yeah. I didn't spend time making those for n-…"

With a glance to his side, he sighed.

"What is it, Kamijou-sama?"

A sigh escaped his mouth and he silently berated himself for not noticing the ninja earlier.

"How long have you been following me, Kuruwa?"

"Since you left your apartment. You seemed so concentrated on something that I just had to know what you were up to? Are you mad?"

Despite asking that, she didn't seem the least bit worried.

Kamijou smiled and held out a white cylinder to her.

"Well, if you were following me, can I assume that you already figured out what I was up to?"

Kuruwa took the cylinder from his hands and examined it. The cold metallic surface showed her reflection.

"I had an idea. The only reason you would be setting up points with those specific placements would be to place a barrier over this island. Should I question why?"

"Maybe. Can you keep a secret for me?"

"Hmph. Who do you think I am?"

Although Kamijou sounded regretful, he started to explain.

"Well, last night…"

"Hah!"

Kamijou shot up in his bed, covered in sweat.

"This… again…?

A quick look around his room confirmed that he was alone… well, besides Othinus who had snuck into his bed. However, he didn't have time to process how he felt about that.

Making sure to not wake her up, he slipped out of the bed and changed his clothes. Making sure to not be seen, he got out of his apartment and started walking down the hallway.

"What's with these dreams? Is this really because of that spell? Then… Agh!"

Kamijou grabbed his head as an intense pain overcame him. His head throbbed and his vision started to blink in and out, his surroundings becoming gradually darker.

He resisted the urge to scream out past his initial reaction.

Falling to his knees, he couldn't comprehend what was happening.

Images started to flash through his vision.

A boy was reaching his hand out to Kamijou and the two started running. Sounds of gunshots echoed all around them.

The scene changed and he saw tanks and helicopters all aimed at him.

In his vision, he reached his left hand out and suddenly darkness overcame the vehicles and they began to burst, metal flying in all directions.

Kamijou managed to mumble a teleportation spell under his breath despite the intense pain.

"Cal…culations complete. Activ…ate… spell…"

In an instant he appeared on top of his apartment building and the pain immediately subsided.

"Ah… hah…"

Breathing heavily, he barely managed to stand. The cool night air felt good on his sweating skin.

"I see. So this is the side effect that you decided to take on."

Before Kamijou could even look around to determine who was speaking, white feathers started to fall all around him, disappearing just before they touched the ground.

And Kakine Teitoku was standing in front of him, seemingly having appeared out of thin air.

"You're…"

"Nice to see you again, Kamijou. Well, I would say that it's nice. I have to admit, I'm slightly disappointed. You didn't save the Key while you were in England. I had high hopes on that point."

"Just who are you? And why are you showing up in front of me again?"

It was obvious that Kakine had other goals than just to aid Kamijou in stopping the Anglican Church from opening the door to the Void.

"Did I not already introduce myself? I suppose I haven't done an actual formal introduction." He stuck his hands in his pocket and gave the boy a smile. "I'm Kakine Teitoku, the second member of Last Order. I see you've already met the fourth, Miko-chan."

Kamijou hesitated, but realized from the nickname and the fact they were talking about Last Order that he meant Misaka Mikoto.

"Of course. I also am aware that you fought with her. The sword you summoned was impressive. Tsukiakari, the Harbinger of Darkness. A sword that was crafted during the Sigil War long ago. It was used to slay the great demon, Valmus. To think that it somehow fell into your hands. I-… Ahem. I guess I'm talking too much."

"I guess it's only a given that you would know so much."

"I suppose. Anyways, I really just came in today to see how you were doing. It seems that the spell is starting to grant you something that you wanted."

Taking a second to contemplate that, he quickly realized what Kakine meant.

"You mean… those really are my memories?"

"They are. The sooner you get your memories back the better. However, there are some that will never come back. The incident that left you the way you are impacted you more than you might believe. The brain cells that held some of your memories were destroyed and, as such, you have a zero percent chance of recovering those. Even with regenerative magic, it's next to impossible."

Kakine paused and walked to the edge of the building. Without a sound, six white wings spread forth from his back, extending at least twenty feet out.

"I've said too much already. I'd stay in contact with Miko-chan if I were you. Soon, she'll have something to tell you. Don't tell that I visited again. We don't need her getting suspicious of me, right?"

Before Kamijou could say his words of thanks or question anything the boy had said, Kakine's wings flapped once and he shot away.

"It's not that I hold any special interest in him or anything… I'm just curious."

Misaka's voice resounded in the church.

"Is that so?"

A light female voice reached her ears. The girl who replied to her sat in a pew several rows in front of Misaka.

"It is. There are many things that I wonder about him. Surely, he'll regain some of his memories. And, once he does, I wonder if that will help Last Order or not?"

"Last Order or… you, Misaka-san? I believe that you have a lot of your own plans in mind. Unless you're going to try to tell me that you and the other members of your organization don't work independently?"

This girl was a bit older than Misaka and wore a long, frilly, pink dress. Long blonde hair fell around her.

"Of course we work independently. I'm actually worrying about what some of them might do in preparation for this upcoming meeting."

The girl giggled a bit at Misaka's words.

"Are you going to bring Kamijou Touma with you? I'm sure he would be quite happy."

"That would be giving way too much information away. I'm afraid that somebody else form Last Order though might contact him. If that were to happen…"

The girl giggled and when Misaka looked up to say something, she was no longer there.

"I hope that you also don't make your move yet, Archbishop."

Morning light found its way through the shades over the boy's window and into the room.

Kamijou slowly opened his eyes. Despite having gone right back to sleep after speaking with Kakine, he still felt as if he had gotten no rest at all.

Something heavy was on his arm and he only noticed as he sat up. Looking to his side, Othinus was lying next to him with her arms wrapped tightly around his arm. She was turned over just enough so that much of her weight was placed on his arm.

He couldn't help but smile as he looked at her.

This was just some random girl that he helped. He helped her and she followed him home. However, now he had made himself and the people around him the enemies of many different factions.

"Othinus, wake up." Kamijou spoke gently and poked her cheek.

"Huh…?"

Othinus's eye opened slowly and she sat up. She had slept in one of Kamijou's white buttoned shirts the night before and it was now disheveled along with her hair. Several of the buttons were undone and she was showing off more than she meant to in front of the boy.

"Ah…" Kamijou couldn't help it when his face flushed slightly and he sighed.

"Good morning, Touma."

"Good morning, Othinus. I don't mean to rush you first thing in the morning, but can you please put some clothes on? This is too much for my young heart so early in the morning."

When she looked down at her attire, she blushed profusely and rushed out of the room.

A sigh escape the boy's mouth, but he smiled.

"If only this genuine life like this could last forever."

"I see, I see."

Kamijou turned to the side and saw Kuruwa standing there, nodding with a satisfied look.

"When did you get in here?"

"I've been in here for a while. Don't mind me."

She snickered and the boy just sighed helplessly.

Suddenly a feeling of dread overcame him, just for a brief second and his head shot up, looking past Kuruwa towards the window.

"Somebody broke it…"

"Huh?"

He jumped up and proceeded to get dressed in front of the girl. Whether out of respect or embarrassment, as her face was flushed a bit, Kuruwa turned around while he did so.

"The barrier! Somebody broke the barrier I put up! Kuruwa, we're leaving!"

He slammed open his door, getting the attention of a surprised Othinus and Frenda.

Without bothering to give them an explanation, he sprinted to the front door. After taking a second to disarm his defensive spells on it, he sprinted out.

"Wait!" Frenda grabbed Kuruwa's arm. "What's going on?"

"Somebody broke through a barrier Kamijou-sama has set up. He is going to investigate. I have to go with him."

Frenda reached into a pocket and pulled out a rectangular piece of paper. There was nothing written on either side, but the girl nodded.

"Take this. If you have to use it, tell Kamijou that it was a gift from me."

Kuruwa nodded, shoving the piece of paper into her pocket.

"I'll be back." With that, she sprinted after her friend.

"Ah. Kiyoke sure is beautiful. An island where all the worst pieces of shit in the world gather. I suppose getting to see it again is a privilege. Ah, right, right. I'm here on a mission."

Floating above the city, the speaker, a girl with short blond hair smiled down at the city and licked her lips.

"Oh, little key. Where are you hiding?" A light laugh escaped her lips. "You can't hide from me in my own domain. Oh but, what's this? A friend?"

She mumbled something to herself, the sound lost in the wind.

A wave of green energy rolled forth from her, bathing over the island, but it was gone as fast as it had appeared.

"Ah, yes. This place will make a fine home for me. And you are but a welcome guest in my home, Key."

She began her slow descent toward the city.

So, yeah, I haven't uploaded in a long time. I had kind of lost my spirit for writing these stories. I guess after writing Brought into the Darkness for over a year, it felt weird to pick up other stories. Either way, here you go. If you know who it is, I guess you really did read the novels like I did.
