So I was going to write an actual story of their twilight years, and I do have one started. I may finish it and post it here as well, but I was really feeling like a poem would do it justice. So I hope you like it. I know not all are perfect rhymes, its free style, so just go with it :) Enjoy!
There sat Percy Jackson, rocking away on his chair,
Even though he was old, he still had good hair.
Yes, it was greying and thinning out,
But it was an easy price to pay no doubt.
Throughout the years he wondered in silence,
Would he make it to the years of good guidance?
Surely he had, as he's now passed that stage,
Watched his children grew up into the teenage.
Years rolled around and his love for her grew,
Memories rolled back to when they said 'I do'.
He turned his head from his chair now,
And the only thought he had was, 'Wow'.
She still had her beauty, her smarts, and her heart,
He knew when they married, they'd never part.
Her hair was the one to go white first,
He ensured her that he still looked worst*.
However, her eyes still looked stormy as ever,
Her mind was still sharp and extremely clever.
He gazed at her now relaxing in the sun,
Couldn't believe they'd had a daughter and son,
Who each had their own now running around,
Hearing them crying 'grandpa!' was such a sound.
He felt as though his whole life was complete,
He put his hand to her chest and felt the heartbeat.
Thump thump, thump, it went.
He was happy to say that his years were spent.
She opened her eyes and smiled that smile,
The one that made his heart run a mile.
As they both watched their grandchildren playing,
He made a joke, 'Shouldn't you be crocheting?'
He received a punch in the arm with a cry of 'hey!'
He expected that and got her wet with a spray.
She shook her head and glared at the boy,
'How could such a prank give an old man that much joy?'
'If I'm an old man, you're ancient, let's not forget whose older.'
She glared daggers at him but she only received a smoulder.
A familiar look she had never gotten tired of,
When he looked at her, his eyes were full of love.
Oh how the time flew,
That's when she knew
Everything turned out the way it was meant to.
* Not a perfect rhyme, just go with it.
