Chapter 8: Deafeat

Karin lost consciousness as she was beginning to be torn apart by her father's wind scar. She dreamed about being in Eri's arms and feeling so safe, nothing could get to her, not even Kasai.

"Karin, I need you to get up." He said to her.

"Huh?" She was confused by his words.

"Please, wake up." He asked her again.

Karin suddenly got sleepy and she began to fade away, but instead of darkness, she saw him. Eri looked into her eyes as they opened from her state of unconsciousness. She sat up and looked around.

"What happened?"

"You froze up and almost were killed by the wind scar. Are you okay?" He asked.

Karin looked down and began to realize what was going on currently.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Thank you for saving me Eri."

"You guys okay?" Sora asked landing next to them.

"Yeah." Eri turned to her.

Karin got herself up and looked towards her father battling with the demon Amaya.

"Her barrier seems impenetrable. Your arrow seemed to push it back some though." Sora said.

"I'm going to try again. Can you guys help my father in distracting her?"

Both Sora and Eri nodded in agreement. They ran off into the direction of the fight. Karin grabbed her bow and focused on her inner energy, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

"Hey you dirty wench! If you're so strong, why don't you quit hiding in that barrier and fight hand to hand?!" Sora yelled out.

Amaya turned to her and smiled. "Ah, the daughter of that filthy demon Sesshomaru. I shall end you and your mother!"

Sora took out her sword, a beautifully crafted blade made of a dragon fang. She launched herself towards Amaya attacking her barrier. Her blade being pushed back, she kept at it in hopes of distracting her from Karin.

"Is that all you've got pup?" Amaya teased.

"No, not at all." Sora remarked with a grin.

Her blade touched the barrier and began to glow with an intense purple light. The energy enveloped her barrier and electricity emitted from the fighting energies. Sora kept at it, pushing into her barrier hoping to weaken it.

Karin took the chance and summoned all her energy in forming her arrow of purification. "Please work." Is all she could hope for.

The arrow released itself and shot straight for Amaya. A direct hit at it and the barrier began to dissipate. The arrow pushed through and Amaya turned in horror as the arrow began to pierce her.

Kagura, Inuyasha, and Eri looked in awe as Amaya began to purify. "She did it!" Inuyasha said in surprise.

"What?!" Amaya could not believe what was happening. The arrow pushed straight into her shoulder and she began to feel herself die.

"No! This cannot happen! Not now!" She screamed in horror. All of a sudden a white light came from within her and a bubble seemed to grow and grow until she was unseen to the rest.

"What now?" Eri asked.

Sora jumped back and landed safely at a distance. The white bubble of light that enveloped Amaya disappeared and nothing was left of her.

"Is she dead?" Kagura asked.

"No." Karin said. Angry that she could not get her.

"Dammit!" Inuyasha said in frustration.

"We have to find Sesshomaru. We can get her later." Kagura said and began to run deeper into the fog of miasma. They all followed hoping not to run into more enemies.

Sesshomaru stood before the petty demon that wanted his throne. Kasai smiled. He did think it was impressive that his paralyzing powers didn't effect Sesshomaru.

"I guess I'll just have to fight you and kill you Sesshomaru. You are quite the impressive demon people speak of." He said and lunged himself towards him.

Sesshomaru took out his blade and clashed it with that of Kasai's. "Give up Sesshomaru. Your men are falling for reason able to evade."

Sesshomaru pushed harder into his blade. "I will not let a demon such as yourself take my land. A demon in need of a jewel to defeat me is pathetic."

"Yes, I may be, but what will you risk in order to keep your land? Your life? Your family and friends?"

Sesshomaru glared at him. Kasai smiled a senile smile and looked to the side. In his sight, he saw as his daughter and wife emerged from the miasma.

Sesshomaru followed his look and saw Sora and Kagura accompanied by the others coming their way.

"Are you willing Sesshomaru?" Kasai asked.

He turned a palm at them and a sharp rock formed from the ground and impaled right through Sora's stomach.

"Sora!" Kagura screamed in horror as her daughter's blood spilled all over the ground.

Sora looked at her mother as she cried in fear then looked down at her blood covering the boulder that was buried in her abdomen. It happened so fast she didn't know quite what was going on.

She looked over and saw her father's gaze. Sesshomaru looked with wide eyes at his daughter's body.

"Father!" She yelled out as the rock was pulled away and crumbled back to the ground. She dropped to her knees and held on to her stomach trying to stop the bleeding.

Kagura dropped to the ground and took Sora into her arms. "Sora, no no no!"

Sesshomaru jumped away from Kasai and leaped to his daughter's side.

Sora cried in pain and looked for her parent's hand. Both Sesshomaru and Kagura took hold of each hand and felt her tight grip as she struggled for air.

"Mom, dad…It hurts." She said through gasps.

"Stop. Don't talk. Stay awake Sora." Kagura said sobbing.

Sesshomaru was blinded with rage. He could not contain it. He turned to Kasai with eyes red as blood. His golden irises turned blue and his marks began to grow. He stood up and made his way towards Kasai.

"I'll kill you vermin!" He said in a hoarse voice.

With one swipe of his sword he released his swords full power. The wave blasted towards Kasai. Knowing well he could be killed by this, Kasai retreated in a burst of light.

"Damn you filthy demon!" Sesshomaru screamed out in frustration.

"We have to get Sora back to the village. I can tend to her wounds there with help of my mother." Karin stated.

"Will she make it?" Kagura asked.

"If we're careful." Karin said. She took off her haori and tightened it around Sora's stomach forming pressure around the wound to slow the bleeding.

"Get her on top of Ah-Un. We'll fly back to the village." Karin said.

Inuyasha carefully carried Sora and placed her on top of Ah-Un.

"Just outside the miasma Kagome and the others are waiting for us. Let's go." Inuyasha said.

Everyone began to make their way back to the others. Sesshomaru stood there looking at all the ruins of his fallen comrades and gloomy land.

Inuyasha walked over and stood by him. "Sesshomaru. Sora needs you. Let him have what he wants. We'll get him sooner or later."

Sesshomaru looked at his brother. He was right. He hated to admit that in a way he was defeated. He let him get to what most hurt him. Now, his daughter was fighting for her life.

Sesshomaru nodded and followed Inuyasha after the others back to the village. He would be by his daughter's side until he knew she was okay.

They could see their comrades in the distance. Kagome looked over and saw her husband and daughter appearing into view. She ran over and took Inuyasha into her arms.

"Are you guys okay?" She asked.

She looked over and saw the grizzly view of her niece. "Oh no." She walked over to Sora and examined her wound.

"We have to get to the village now." She said.

"Yeah, let's go." Inuyasha said.

The group took off into flight. Going as fast as possible towards their destination.

As Karin, Kagome, and Kaede worked on tending to Sora's wound, Sesshomaru and Inuyasha sat outside the hut.

"Don't worry. She'll make a full recovery. Karin suffered the same thing and lived." Inuyasha tried to comfort Sesshomaru.

"My daughter is strong. I know she will make it. It bothers me thinking of that pathetic demon being able to get the better of me."

"If we attack with everything and plan this carefully, we can get him." Inuyasha said.

Sesshomaru nodded. He would not let him get away with this. Kasai would die, by his hands even if it killed him.

AN: I know it's been forever and this chapter was short, but I've been working a lot more lately and haven't had any time to write. On a good note, I met Kirby Morrow! It was amazing! Lol Thanks for reading and as always, reviews are welcome.
