It was Saturday, so I decided to go for a long swim in the ocean. It wasn't a very far drive and I could tell Charlie that I was going to the library - if he was suspicious and asked why I didn't bring home any books, I could just say that they didn't have a very wide variety.
I had it all figured out.
Charlie had already left for work so I was left making myself lunch for the day - after all, who wouldn't get hungry after swimming for miles?
Once I was sure that I had everything, I went into my truck, trying to contain my excitement.
My favourite thing about swimming in the ocean were the dolphins; they swam over when they saw me, getting close to me and inspecting me. I watched them closely as they swam around me.
I was at the bottom of the water, balancing on the tip of my tail. The two dolphins came to the conclusion that I was one of them and began squeaking to each other and swimming around me even faster that before- this time playfully.
I smiled and began swimming forward - they tagged along. Feeling in a playful mood myself I began swimming even faster - them right behind me - and suddenly stopped, confusing them. It was silent for a moment before they started clicking - which, I was sure, was out of amusement.
They reminded me of the dolphins in Phoenix - I had names for all of them, why not make names for these two, as well?
I thought for a moment before I settled for the names Louis and Ronnie - they just looked like if they were human, they would have those names. I smiled, laughing at myself for giving them such strange names.
The strange thing about my marine-communication power was that I couldn't actually hear what they were thinking, but I could feel their emotions and I would know why they would be feeling those emotions. So it made it very easy to interact with them because I knew exactly how they were feeling and they also knew how I was feeling.
I kept on swimming for a few minutes and mucking around with Louis and Ronnie. I swam on my back, in completely strange directions and even grabbed onto Ronnie's fin and let him drag me along.
With dolphins - or any marine life, really - was where I truly felt that I belonged. I had no cares in the world when I was swimming like this. I felt at peace with everything and everyone. When I was only 'human Bella' I didn't feel that I really fit in because I had such a huge thing to hide - but as a mermaid, I had no secrets.
I decided that it was time to go to the surface for a few minutes because breathing underwater was much more uncomfortable than breathing air. The dolphins knew what I was doing and did the same thing. They catapulted out of the water in synchronization, did a flip and were back in the water within a few seconds.
I immediately wished that I hadn't gone to the surface. In a small - but expensive looking - boat, not far away from the rock I was next to, were Edward and Emmett Cullen.
I couldn't look away, I was mesmerized by their - Edward's, really - beauty. Even if I could hardly make out their faces because of the cloudiness I knew who they were straight away. How could you mistake such beauty?
I wished I could swim over there and talk to them but there were too many problems involved with that. A main one being that at the moment, I was a fish and another, they hardly knew me. They would probably wonder what I was doing if I swam over there.
I crept around the rock to get a closer view of Edward and Emmett but I was still partially under the cover of the rocks. Around their boat I saw some more rocks, closer to the boat than the ones I was that I was at now.
I decided to take the risk. I quickly ducked under the water and swam slowly over to the rocks - if I swam too fast than the water would make too much motion and they would see me. I saw Ronnie swim beside me, clicking joyously because I was back under water. Louis came up not too long after Ronnie did.

Ronnie and Louis settled above the water, next to me. They were wondering what I was doing. Stay quiet. I commanded to the dolphins internally. Everything will be fine, just stay quiet.
Of course, they did the exact opposite. They began clicking loudly, thinking that they were being funny; they both caught Edward and Emmett's attention.
"Hey, Eddie. Look - dolphins," Emmett laughed.
"Oh, really, Emmett?" Edward asked sarcastically, rolling his eyes. "Why did you even drag me out here?"
"Because, little brother, we need to talk - man to man." Emmett put emphasis on the last part of the sentence.
"Yes, okay, but why on a boat?"
"Alice said that there would be dolphins." He pointed his attention over to Ronnie, whose nose was on the side of the boat; he wanted Emmett to give him attention. "And she was right; there are dolphins here." I wasn't sure as to how Alice would know something like that.
"Emmett, there are so many other places that I would rather be right now. I could think of millions of other places that I'd rather be than here."
"Really, I can only think of one place that you would want to be - with Bella Swan."
What? What did Emmett mean?
"Emmett," Edward cautioned.
"Come on, Eddie, I see the way you look at her. I know your falling in... love."He sung the word 'love'.
"Emmett, could we please just leave this."
"Only if you tell me that I'm right about your feelings for her."
Edward sighed, putting his face in his palm. "Okay, Emmett, I... I care or her."
"Not good enough Eddie-boy." Emmett smiled.
"I like her Emmett, I like her!" Edward exclaimed in frustration.
He what?He likedme? As in, likedme? Words couldn't describe the joy I felt at his words.
"Is that all I'm going to get out of you, Eddie?" Emmett asked doubtfully.
"Yes." He answered simply.
"Okay then, let's go swimming."
"What-" Edward started but it was already too late.
Emmett grabbed one side of the boat and tipped it over, throwing both Edward and he into the - cold to them - water.
I'm sure if it was from a distance, it would be funny to watch, but when you are two metres away and you have a tail, you go into panic mode.
I turned away; I could hear the dolphins clicking at me. They were saying goodbye because they knew that I was going to have to leave.
I didn't know where I was swimming to. All I knew was that I had to get away from there.
I wildly turned and was sure that I swam in circles a few times. I swam so quickly that everything that passed me was just a blur of colour.
Suddenly, even in the blur of colours, something caught my attention; a strange shimmer near a bunch of rocks under the water.
I immediately had a flashback to when I first became a mermaid. I had never realized this before, but a strange shimmer had caught my attention then, too.
I swam over the rocks, slowly and carefully, unsure of what was going to be there. I realized that they were not only rocks; it was an entrance to something. A cave, I assumed.
It was about a twenty second swim at the normal 'human' speed until I came to a small pool. I was sure that throughout all my time in Forks, I would have found this pool before -it seemed pretty obvious to me now.
I noticed that the water was pretty dark, even though there was a light that was forming around me now. My head broke the surface of the pool.
I swam right the edge of the pool and balanced on the rocks under the water. I looked around trying to figure out where I was and how to get back.
When I looked up, all that I could see was a big hole about 20 meters up from the pool.
Could this be a volcano? No, no there is no volcano in Forks, I tried to tell myself... could there be? I'm sure that I would have seen it before...
I looked up and saw the full moon. I had completely forgotten that there was a full moon tonight – I tried to look away, but it was too late. I was already under the moon's spell.
Then something much unexpected happened.
