Yes, I'm aware that I haven't updated this story since October, and again I apologize as usual. It is almost done though, I think there will only be about two chapters left. I hope that's not bad news and I'm really sorry again for always taking forever to update.
Before I start, Ganon Lover, to respond to your review, I missed you too and I'm sorry I stopped writing again for a while. Thanks for your really nice review, and I really can't apologize enough. Hope you can forgive me. :)
"So...according to this map," I said, carefully looking at the dotted trail. "We're heading in that direction now." I pointed to the west.
"Alright, but Nal, we've been travelling for hours. Why don't we stop and eat some food?"
"I am pretty hungry..." I considered. "Okay, we'll take a break."
Jake sat down on the hard pavement and took out some containers from his bag. After we decided to venture off, Jake went back to his house and got some stuff, including plenty of food for the way. For that, I was very grateful.
I sat down beside him and we ate some sandwiches.
"So, what are you planning to do after we find this book? When you don't have your powers anymore and you succeed in doing this."
I liked the fact that he used the word "when" instead of "if", like he didn't doubt me for a second. But, I honestly hadn't given much thought to his question. What were we going to do after this? What will the future look like?
"Well," I answered. "I don't know if I ever want to go back there...That place is filled with misery for me. There's nothing there that gives me happiness, except for you. And now you're here with me. That's all I'd ever want. So, as for what we're going to do, I don't know how you feel about this, but I think it would be really nice to start fresh. We could have new opportunities. It would be like a new life for us. If we lived somewhere else and possibly made some friends and didn't have anyone to control us. I'm sorry, I know I'm being really selfish. I can't ask you to just leave your entire life behind forever and change it completely. If that's not what you want, and I totally understand if it isn't, then we can forget about it. Let's do whatever you want."
Jake leaned in and kissed me. "Nal, what you described just now sounds perfect, and I really think we should do it."
I smiled gratefully. "You're amazing, Jake."
After that, we finished our sandwiches and continued to follow the trail. It wasn't very hard, but like the small girl had warned, it did tire us out. That night, even though the floor I was sleeping on was hard and cold and not the slightest bit comfortable, I looked to my side at Jake and for the first time in years, I fell asleep feeling truly happy.
A couple of days later, we finally got there. I was about ready to pass out.
"Oh, Jake, I'm so tired..." My feet were hurting from how much we had to walk. "How much longer?"
Jake smiled at me, though I could tell he was exhausted too. "We're here."
I instantly lit up. "Really?! Oh thank goodness!" I took his face in my hands and kissed him in happiness. "We made it."
His smile got even wider. "I knew we would. Let's check this place out."
We walked closer to the house in front of us. There was a sign right next to it that said: For those who possess the sacred power...Go into the house. There is plenty of food and water, along with a place for you to rest up. Enjoy your stay.
"Um...Nal? What are you doing?" Jakes asked me.
I straightened up and stopped concentrating on the sign. "I was reading the sign!"
He looked at me weirdly. "What sign?"
"The sign right there..." I pointed to it.
He still looked confused. "I don't see anything."
"Oh.." I understood what was happening. "It must be something only people with my power can see."
"Oh, that makes sense. Well what does it say?"
"It's saying that we're allowed to stay at the house and everything we need is in there."
"Well that's great then. Let's go in."
Jake and I walked into the house and looked around. It was a nice place that looked very comfortable and pleasant. The living room had a few couches and a fire place along with a TV. To the right was the kitchen which had fridges and cabinets filled with stacks of food and drinks. There were many options to choose from, which is exactly what we needed after all that travelling. Jake and I dug right in and took out whatever looks good, eating up so much until we were finally full. It was a very good meal and we were happy to know that we were finally at the place we worked so hard to get to.
We got so distracted from how hungry we were that we forgot to pay close attention to the details of the place. There was still an upper floor to it and a basement, but we decided we would look at that later. On a desk, we saw a little paper and when I picked it up I realized it was intended for us.

"Wow Jake! Come look at this! We could actually stay here! And we could be around people who are the same as me...This could be our new life."
Jake kissed me. "Sounds perfect. Let's just stay here a few days though and see what we think."
I couldn't help the huge excited smile on my face. "Alright."
"You want to go see the basement?"
"Yeah, sure." We went downstairs and I saw a desk with a huge book on it. I went over to it and picked up the book, but found myself struggling to carry it because it was so heavy. I put it down. Man, the book was as big as an encyclopedia. It was titled Magic: Jewels.
I opened up the book and saw everything I'd ever wanted. Inside was all the information you could possibly find about this strange power. It explained everything and answered any questions I might have had. I couldn't wait to start reading and find out everything at last. Although it was going to take me a while considering how long the book was.
A few hours later and I was sitting down on a sofa and still reading the book. I yawned and flipped to the next page, starting to have trouble keeping my eyes open.
"Naliana?" Jake called to me.
I looked up at him and smiled. "Yeah?"
"It's getting late, and you look really tired. Maybe you should put the book down for now and go to sleep. You don't need to read it all in one day," he reminded me sympathetically.
"Yeah, it's just that I'm finally getting all the answers to the questions I've been asking myself my whole life. I just want all my curiosity to be over." I looked back to the book and started reading again, which was shortly followed by another yawn.
Jake gave me a knowing look.
"Yeah, you're right. Okay, I'll go to sleep, just after...oh my gosh! This page is all about if you want to get rid of your powers! I'll just read this first, and then I'll sleep."
I eagerly started reading the next page, but it wasn't what I wanted to hear. It went like this: Some people would prefer to be like the others and get rid of their powers, but unfortunately there is no way of doing so.
I looked at Jake sadly.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"There's no way to get rid of this power..."
Jake came to the sofa and sat down next to me. He put his arm around me and let me lean on him.
"It's okay, think about it positively. We can be a part of this community where everyone's like you. You won't be the different one anymore, you'll just see yourself as normal. And no one is gonna take advantage of you because they're all the same as you. It'll be completely different from before."
I smile a little. "Yeah, that's true. I guess it doesn't really matter now. Thank you, Jake."
He smiled back at me tenderly. "No problem." He then kissed me softly. "Now let's put the book away and get you to bed. It's been a long day."
He closed the book then we both got up and went upstairs. Even though it wasn't what I was hoping for, I was still happy with this outcome and lifestyle we were going to have. It was more than perfect, and for that I was truly grateful.
