NightlyRowenTree your question really bothered me. Thanks!

The reason she is mean:

Today was a good day.

For the first time in a long while I was able to shift smoothly.

It had been a month since the attack and I couldn't walk around Aspen Creek without wanting to kill at least a dozen people.

But today was good.

Today I did good.

The road beneath my feet crumbled away to damp dirt as I traded the houses and cars for trees and grass. The noise of humanity slowly faded.

Decrescendo.

And I could be at peace.

It took me an hour to get to my tree and blanket. The blanket hung solitary in the leafless branches. Taking three large bonds I sprung up into the branches and burrowed myself into the blanket.

The stars twinkled softly as I waited for sleep to befall me.

Closing my eyes I let my mind wander…..a very dangerous thing….

...

"Hazel just listen." My brother growled in his most commanding voice. "Just take the class if you don't like it then you can quit."

Suppressing a smile I shook my head. "I can't afford college its as simple as that."

"What about your filthy rich ex. didn't you get anything from the divorce?" He blew disgustedly retching down to pick up a scattering of pokemon playing cards.

"The marriage was Annulled, you daft idiot!" I spat bending to help him but thinking better of it I righted myself. "Besides college classes will force me to cut back on hours at work."

"If we cut back on my nerdy stuff we should be fine." He muttered almost too softly to hear. My heart warmed.

"You now what if you feel that strongly about it…" I waited till he looked up at me. "Then we will make it work."

"You sure?" He eyes me suspiciously.

"As a matter of fact I will head down to the campise on the way back from work to talk with a counselor."

Grinning toothily he threw the stack of cards he had just picked up in the air…...

...

Uh...my feet were killing me. It was as if lady luck was grinning down on us. After cleaning up the mess that my brother had made I got a call asking me come in three hours earlier to work giving me overtime.

Sitting down heavily at the bus stop I shifted my backpack around in order to get to the clunky outdated phone hidden in the depths of my bag. Just as I got to it. The bright lights of a car flashed head on.

Scrambling to my feet I only had a moment to think before two men in black suites sprang from the car and grabbed me.

A well placed kick to the groin caused the men to back hand me and knock me out…...

...

It was cold and I was naked.

A feeling of absolute terror racked my bones causing shives that intern caused the chains that bound me to clink. The noise sounded like the chiming of a music box.

Wildly looking around my eyes settled on a familiar figure sitting cross-legged on a velvet chair a full blue bottle sitting in his lap.

"Halfway." Solomon laughed the sound echoing of the cinder block walls. "What does that mean?"

"Solomon what are you doing?" I growled refusing to cry even though my body was shaking.

His teeth closed around the neck of the bottle as he ripped the cork free. "I have no idea." He whispered as he took a sip.

"Let me go." I whispered after the silents grew unbearable.

"You know its funny." He chuckled taking another sip. "Our entire marriage was based off of this stuff." Choking he laughed. "And it is absolutely disgusting."

"Why did you do this?" I asked blanked faced.

Solomon surged to his feet clearing the distance between us. "I didn't, you were a gift from some very concerned servants who are no longer living."

He brought his face closer to mine. "But maybe they had the right idea."

His breath smelt strongly of alcohol and blood. "Let's play a game shall we."

Pulling away he brought a knife from his back pocket. "All it takes is some of my blood in exchange of all of yours."

He sliced his neck. "I will take a sip from this bottle, you will take a sip from me, then I will take a sip from you until the bottle is gone."

Coming nearer he brushed my hair away from my neck. "But if you don't take a sip from me by the time the game ends you'll be dead…..sounds fair?"

"Wait! Solomon-," But before I could plead for him to not he knocked back a mouthful of liquor. Pressing his neck to my face I managed to turn my head in time.

"No?" He blinked solemnly. "Oh well." Lunging his mouth latched to my throat as teeth ripped through my skin. He pulled a long steady draw before stepping away. "Round two."

...

Gasping awake I barely stopped myself from falling from the tree. Ripping the blanket free I tumbled down landing softly to my feet. Tearing off my clothes I shifted drawing comfort from my wolf.

Sleep human…I will watch tonight….
