Chapter 8

Authors note: I cannot apologise enough to you guys for taking ridiculously long to update! I've had exams (because my school is annoying and makes you take some of your gcse's in yr 10) and I was like so stressed out! So I'm really trying to find the time to update but I never contemplated just how stressful year ten would be ugh! But any way, I wanted to do an update for you all, so here it is :)

"Oh, Paisley, just the girl I'm looking for!" Simon exclaimed as he saw the girl in the corridor.

"Alright sir?" Paisley smiled as she walked up to him.

"There's inspectors, coming in today, just to make sure that the merger is running smoothly. So don't be alarmed if one stops in for your dance lessons that you teach." Simon explained.

Paisley frowned, "Why would they wanna do that?"

"Because either Christine or myself will casually mention that you - a polite young lady - and your respectful boyfriend, run a lunchtime dance club for year sevens, highlighting just how wonderful the school is."

Paisley laughed slightly, "Give me a second to write that down."

"Just make sure everyone is on their best behaviour."

"I could invite Shannon, the fact that myself and a Havelock student are getting along so well will be proof that the merger is working." Paisley suggested with a smile.

"Great idea!" Simon walked away, feeling pleased with himself.

"Alright Pais?" Lola asked as she walked past Paisley.

Paisley looked around her, "Sorry, are you talking to me? Cos I thought we were mates but then you wanna start shit all the time, and I'm not about that." Paisley glared at her.

"We are mates Pais. It's just Kacey, and the rest of the Barry's that I have an issue with." Sighed Lola.

"You're pathetic." Paisley spat, shaking her head and turning around.

Lola grabbed her arm, "Well what do you expect? Barry framed my brother!"

"You don't know that." Paisley retorted, pulling her arm out of Lola's grasp.

"Well go and ask him; he doesn't exactly deny it!" Lola crossed her arms.

"I've gotta go." Paisley walked past the girl.

Lola sighed and carried on the other way. Barry was walking her way and he gestured for her to follow him. She did and she found herself in a deserted corridor.

"Listen, you've got to stop bugging my sister." Barry said with a cold tone.

A harsh laugh came out of Lola, "I love how Kacey has everyone sticking up for her."

"Watch yourself Lola, Kace knows about me and you, about what we were doing in Havelock." Barry said in a hushed tone.

Lola's eyes widened, "What?! How?"

Barry sighed impatiently, "Don't worry about that. Just stop being a mega bitch all the time otherwise Kacey will blurt it out one day. And when it does come out, I'll have no issue making you look like the slut you are." Barry looked her up and down before walking away.

Lola felt tears sting her eyes but she swiftly regained composure, not allowing the tears to fall.

"So, I'm gonna try and be good from now on cos I can't wait till we can do something together." Kacey smiled at Harley.

"Me too." Harley returned the smile.

"Open your textbooks to Page 38." Audrey was saying from the front of the classroom.

A knock on the door interrupted her, she smiled as an Inspector entered the classroom. "Sorry to disturb you all, I'm just taking a look around all of the classes." The woman said.

"Please, take a seat. The year elevens here are continuing their work about the American West." Audrey explained with a smile.

"You wouldn't mind if I took out one or two of the previous Havelock students and asked them if they're settling in well, would you?" The inspector smiled sweetly.

Paisley noticed how Audrey's already large eyes expanded even further. The teacher licked her lips, "Of course." Audrey croaked.

Audrey knew this was a recipe for disaster; The Havelock pupils would see this as a prime opportunity to name and shame the school, and make Waterloo Road look worse than it already did. A student putting their hand up interrupted her thoughts.

"I hope you don't mind Miss Mcfall, but I'd love to talk to the Inspector about my transition from Havelock high to Waterloo Road."

Lola.

Audrey stared at the girl in shock, yep, definitely a recipe for disaster. Lola was a difficult one to figure out; sometimes she could be a wonderful student whereas other times she could be a right pain in the-

"Lovely, I'll take this polite young lady for now." The Inspector smiled at Lola and the girl gathered her things and walked out of the classroom.

"I wouldn't trust that girl with a fish bowl." Jared muttered.

"Same here." Paisley mumbled back.

"So, have you made lots of new friends here?" The inspector questioned.

"Well I've tried...I guess I'm not the easiest person to be friends with." Admitted Lola.

"I see...and what do you make of the teachers here?"

...But then you wanna start shit all the time

Paisley's words rang in Lola's head. Lola liked Paisley, causing more trouble would only drive a wedge between the two even more so.

"They're great. They give help when it's needed and they push us to do the best we can possibly do." Lola returned the sickly sweet smile that the Inspector comfortably sported.

"Lovely, that'll be all for now. Thank you for your time Lola." The woman stood and shook Lola's hand.

"It was a pleasure." Lola exited the pastoral care office where her little interview was held.

"How's the happy couple eh?" Sneered Hector as Nikki and Vanessa walked down the corridor.

"We're fine." Nikki forced a smile, interlocking her hand with Vanessa's.

Hector just stared at their hands before scoffing and walking off.

"Ooh, someone's green-eyed." Vanessa commented, shaking her head and laughing slightly.

"Especially someone who is meant to be with Sue." Nikki muttered, not intending for Vanessa to hear.

"Wait what? Isn't Sue with Simon?"

"I wasn't meant to say anything; Hector mentioned it not too long ago, probably because he's deluded enough to believe it would make me jealous."

"Well don't worry, I'm not the sort to create a storm." Vanessa smiled then looked down at hers and Nikki's hands, they were still interlocked. "I'll see you later." Vanessa gently let go of Nikki's hand and walked away, her heels clicking underneath her.

Nikki tried to ignore the tingling sensation coming from her hand. It was like a slap in the face for her to remind herself that this wasn't real, that her and Vanessa were not actually together, that they were only pretending. But Nikki didn't want it to be pretend, she wanted it to be real.

"Shannon, I need to talk to you. Lunchtime?" Paisley asked the girl that break time.

"Depends, are you gonna be a bitch and run your mouth off?" Shannon snapped, raising a perfect eyebrow.

Paisley mentally rolled her eyes. She planted a plastic smile on her face, "I just want to talk. Meet me in the gym, I'll be teaching the year sevens dance."

Shannon nodded then walked away, her chestnut hair blowing wildly in the wind.

"Dumb bitch." Paisley mumbled, scowling at the back of Shannon's head.

"Break time and I've not got in trouble, get in!" Kacey smiled proudly, coming to join Paisley.

"High five to that." Harley laughed, holding his hand up to which Kacey high fived.

"Plus, Lola has backed off and all." Kacey added.

"She's probably realised that she's being stupid." Harley replied.

"Shame that her obnoxious brother doesn't." Kacey grumbled.

"Don't worry about him." Harley smiled, making Kacey smile back.

"Hi," Mason spoke, coming up behind Grace in the library, she visibly jumped at the sound of his voice. "Sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you."

"Mason, what do you want?" Grace smiled genuinely.

This surprised Mason; Kacey's mates always glared at him like he was dog shit. Their heads are so up Kacey's arse, Mason thought.

"Just to say hi," Mason smiled in a boyish charm sort of way. He wasn't stupid, he knew that he was quite privileged in the good looks department. And he knew it had worked when Grace smiled and ducked her head slightly. "What's a pretty girl like you doing alone in the library?"

"She's not alone, she's with me." Jasmine appeared from the other side of the bookshelf, crossing her arms across her chest.

Mason looked Jasmine up and down with a smug expression, he then turned back to Grace, "See you around." He smirked at her before walking away.

"See ya." Grace smiled before laying a glare on to Jasmine. "What's your problem?"

Jasmine smiled innocently and tossed her long caramel hair, "Nothing, he asked why you were alone and I let him know that you weren't." She shrugged.

"Is this to do with Kacey's vendetta against Mason?"

"Vendetta? Why you overreacting babe? You're acting like you wanted to be alone with that creep." Jasmine shuddered for added effect.

"He's not a creep Jas." Grace rolled her eyes.

"You better not be falling for him Grace, he's nothing but trouble." Jasmine shook her head.

"Thanks babe, but as you can probably tell I'm not a baby, so I don't need you, or anyone for that matter, looking out for me." Grace turned on her heel then walked away.

"...Alright so make sure you're on your best behaviour." Paisley was telling her group of year sevens.

"Yeah and remember, if it doesn't sound smart in your head, it most likely won't sound smart out loud." Jared added and Paisley glared at him.

"They're not thick." Paisley rolled her eyes at Jared. She then noticed Shannon, enter through the door. "Guys, Jay will take the warm up, I'll join you in a minute." She smiled before walking over to the girl.

"I'm here, what do you wanna talk about?" Shannon asked.

"Your favourite topic; Kacey." Paisley smiled.

Shannon shook her head, "You're unbelievable." She started heading for the door but Paisley caught her.

"Wait, look I don't want you to think that I'm homophobic or anything, cos I'm not. You just seem like the obsessive type."

"And you seem like the type who has a meddling problem." Shannon arched a brow.

"Yep, so if you have fantasies about you and Kace I guess you should add me to the equation as Kacey's business is my business." Paisley fixed a smile onto her face.

"Great." Shannon scowled.

"I just don't want her getting hurt." Paisley said, linking her arm into Shannon's, making Shannon mentally laugh at Paisley's mood changes.

"If she gets hurt, it won't be down to me." Shannon said seriously.

"Things are going good for Kace right now, you might shake things up a little."

"More so than Mason and Lola? Kacey's mental, in a good way. She doesn't care what anybody thinks, and I like that." Shannon smiled.

Paisley was about to reply when an Inspector entered. Paisley excused herself from the conversation and walked over to the man. "Hi, I'm Paisley. Nice to meet you." She smiled politely and shook the man's hand.

"A pleasure to meet you Paisley. As you're probably aware, myself and some colleagues are just having a look around the school. And your lunchtime club was personally recommended by the head, to be checked out." The man informed her.

"Oh, really? What a surprise, I wish I had time to prepare myself!" Paisley laughed sweetly. "None the less, feel free to ask myself, Jared and any of the year sevens any queries you may have."

"Thank you, but maybe later, but firstly I just want to walk around and get a feel for the club."

"Go ahead." Paisley smiled once more.

"...Okay, I need a volunteer to be in charge of the rest of the warm up...um, ah, Paige! Come up to the front then, and if they don't do it correctly mentally take their names and Pais and I will think of forfeits." Jared then walked over to Paisley.

"Nice call by the way." He spoke.

"Huh?" Paisley diverted her attention from the dancers to her boyfriend.

"Inviting Shannon so it looks like Havelock and Waterloo Road are mixing well." Jared explained.

"Oh it's nothing to do with that," It was now Jared's turn to look confused. "Well you know what they say babe; keep your friends close and your enemies closer." Paisley smiled mischievously.

"And so the meddling begins." Jared sighed dramatically.
