Chapter Eight: Teddy Bear Dilemma
As the sun slowly rose over the horizon the next day, Coori rolled onto her stomach and subconsciously brought her arm closer to her, as if she was holding a teddy bear. However, there was no teddy bear to speak of within her arm. She let out a slight groan of annoyance to this and began to search for her precious teddy bear.
"Where did you go this time, Mister Fluffy?" Coori asked sleepily as she pushed herself up and crawled to look over the edge of the bed.
She rubbed one of her eyes before looking around the floor for her "Mister Fluffy". The said teddy bear was nowhere in sight. Coori blinked to this before carefully climbing down from the bed and got on her hands and knees to look under it. Much to her dismay, her teddy bear wasn't there either.
Coori let out a small whimper as she got up from the floor and ran out of the room.
"Mommy?" Coori said as she ran into the room her parents were in.
Cooro was still asleep as his daughter climbed onto their bed and started to shake him awake. Senri woke up and looked toward Coori as she did this.
"Daddy!" Coori said once noticing her father and crawled over to him. "Daddy, have you seen Mister Fluffy?"
Senri sweated to this as Coori stared at him with curiosity. He slowly shook his head while shaking Cooro awake.
"Oh," Coori said, pondering a bit. "Well, do you know where he might be?"
Senri sweated more to the question while shaking Cooro more. After a bit, Cooro finally woke up and turned to look at his husband.
"Senri, what's wrong?" he asked as he rubbed his eye.
"Mommy, do you know where Mister Fluffy is?" Coori asked as she looked toward her mother.
Cooro sweated to the question as well as he sat up in bed. Coori continued to stare at her parents as they looked toward one another.
"Um," Cooro said, looking towards Coori. "Well, you see, sweetie, Mister Fluffy….is back at home."
Silence fell upon the small family as Cooro and Senri waited to see what their daughter's reaction would be. A few moments passed before tears started to appear in Coori's eyes.
"Please don't cry, Coori!" Cooro said, "We'll be going home as soon as we have breakfast! You'll see Mister Fluffy soon after that! Promise!"
"But I want to see Mister Fluffy now~!" Coori exclaimed as she began to cry.
Senri got out of the bed and picked up Coori. Coori held onto him and buried her face into his shoulder as he carried her back to her room.
"Come on, Coori, won't you please cheer up?" Nana asked as she and everyone else sat at the table. "At least for your Aunt Nana?"
Coori just sniffled as she poked at her food, still upset about her precious teddy bear being left at home. Cooro, Senri and Husky looked at her with worried faces. Nana, on the other hand, was trying her best to cheer up the little girl.
"I want Mister Fluffy," Coori said, tearing up again.
"You'll see Mister Fluffy soon, sweetie." Cooro said.
"Yes, that's right. You'll see him again as soon as you get home." Nana added.
"But I want Mister Fluffy now!" Coori said before crying again.
"Oh, Coori," Cooro said, getting up and going to hold his daughter.
Coori snuggled into her mother and held onto him tightly. Nana watched this for a bit before getting an idea.
"Coori," Nana began, "you'll be able to see Mister Fluffy sooner if you stop crying and finish your breakfast."
"R-r-really?" Coori asked, looking towards Nana, sniffling.
"Of course," Nana said before looking towards Cooro and Senri. "Right guys?"
"Oh! Of course!" Cooro said, once getting what Nana was trying to do.
Senri nodded his head, making Coori perk up completely.
"Okay~!" Coori said, smiling big.
"Now there's the smile we were missing!" Nana said, smiling as well.
Coori giggled as Cooro set her back in her chair and took his seat again.
This is what happens when Coori realizes she doesn't have her teddy bear.
