Pokemon: Emerald, Ruby, and Sapphire

Chapter 8:...And Back Again

Eh...I've neglected this story...again. -_- SO sorry. This chapter WILL be short. -_- Sorry again.

And if you want to know what May-Sapphire did, just go and read Pokemon Ranger. I don't feel like re-writing what she did from her POV.

Happy 4th of July!

Well, enjoy and R&R!

I step off the ship and onto Hoenn soil.

"Finally back in Rustboro," I sigh, and head towards Roxanne's gym. That whole side adventure with the Rangers really messed me up. I need to sign up for the contest as May, and battle Roxanne as Sapphire.

I give myself a once over to make sure I'm wearing Sapphire clothes. After checking everything, I run to the gym. I walk into it through the doors and see Roxanne talking to some of her students, including the bratty kid.

"Hello weirdo teacher," I say with a toothy smile. Roxanne looks up and raises her eyebrow.

"So you're back," she says. "Hardly took you any time at all. Did you get your stuff sorted out?" I nod.

"I'm going to battle you NOW!" I say. "And NO holding back." Throwing out Mudkip's pokeball, I watch as Roxanne sends out a Geodude.

"Rock throw!"

"Mudkip, Water GUN!"

My pokemon manages to push back all the different rocks with quick bursts of water. I dodge all the rocks that fall from the sky by hopping around.

"Are you CRAZY lady?!" I shout. "Yer TRYIN' to kill me!"

"No, you're just a very inexperienced fighter," she says. "Most challengers know not to stay on the field." I growl at her and point forward.

"Use Tackle!"

"Tackle, Geodude!" The two slam into each other, and Mudkip gets dizzy.

"Aw crap!" I moan, and facepalm.

"Mudkip, use water gun to get away!" It obeys my command, but...not entirely.

"NOOO BACK UP MUDKIP!" I yelp as it comes flying my way.

WHAM! I'm slammed into the wall.

"Yowch..." I mutter. "That's gonna leave a friggin' mark..." Sitting up, I put Mudkip back on its feet and point at the Geodude.

"Get close and then attack when it least expects it!" I whisper, and it nods, making its way to the opponent. I tense up apprehensively, and wait for Mudkip to sense the time to attack.

"Geodude, use Rock Throw."

"Mudkip, run now and use Water gun!"

SPLOOSH!

Geodude is slammed into Roxanne. I cover my mouth so that she can't see me smirking, and she sits up.

"You bad challenger girl!" the bratty kid from before says, and slaps my arm.

"DAMMIT!" I yelp. Glaring down at him I pinch his cheek.

"Don't get arrogant you brat," I say. "Your scatterbrained teach is a scatterbrained teacher for a reason." He bites my finger and I cuss.

"SHOOT!" I say, and give him a swift kick on the butt. He shrieks and runs over to the other kids. Roxanne manages to get up and shakes herself.

"Nice attack," she tells me, and returns her Geodude.

"GO Nosepass!"

"Mudkip, use Water Gun...AGAAAAIN!" I cheer annoyingly. Roxanne sweatdrops, and her shoulders sag.

"Why do I get the feeling you're enjoying yourself a little too much...?" I grin at her.

"Because I like beating people up for fun!" I say honestly. Everyone in the room gives me a look.

"Ah...hahaha! JK!" I say, "Let's get back to our battle!"

"Tackle!" Roxanne calls out. Mudkip blasts the opponent back before it can even get close.

"Fuuuuuuuuuuuun stuuuuuff!" I cheer, and wait as Roxanne struggles to her feet and returns her Nosepass.

"I'm going to get bruises..." she murmurs.

"WHIMPY TEACHER!" I jeer, and she glares. I stop, as she walks over holding something out.

"Here's your first badge, the Stone Badge," she says and places it in my hand with a smile. "You may be a little off the charts, but I'm sure you'll be a great trainer." She pats me on the head and I turn red before jumping backwards into a defensive stance.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" I say. "Nooooo TOUCHY." I turn on my heel and walk out. My face is still brimming with happiness as I exit the gym. No one has shown that sort of face towards me as Sapphire.

I feel...special. After quickly changing into my May Clothes, I walk out of a public restroom humming a happy tune.

"May!" I hear, and all fuzzy feelings go away.

Ewww...

I turn around and see Ruby.

"Of course..." I grumble. He catches up to me and we walk side by side.

"Have you entered the contest yet? They are about to close down entries." I freeze.

"Oh shi-!" I sprint down towards the contest hall.

"Wha-HEY!" He chases after me. "What's wrong? Did you forget to register?" I bite back a snarky comment, and resist the urge to slam a sledge hammer over his head while I approach the Hall. I burst through the doors and run into the counter.

"I'm signing up for the contest!" I gasp. The woman at the desk blinks in surprise.

"...Sure.." I smile, and hold out my ID. She takes my Pokedex, and clears my entry.

"All signed up!" she tells me. "The contest will begin tomorrow at 10:00am. Take the time now to practice and polish up your first round routine." I stare at her, then look at Ruby.

"Routine?" Ruby goes bug eyed.

"You haven't made any effort to prepare?!" he exclaims. I almost slap him, but tell myself that May wouldn't do such a thing, and plaster a smile to my face.

"I've been in Almia, so I haven't had time," I say sweetly. "And since you seem to know a lot about contests, why don't you help me understand?" He tilts his head to the side in thought.

"...Sure." I clap my hands together.

"Thank you sooo much!" We head outside, and Ruby tells me to let out both my Pokemon. I release Torchic and Mudkip.

"So a fire and water type duo..." Ruby says with a hand on his chin. "I think we can make a pretty cool performance with them. How about you have them do some attacks that might make sparkles. That's always an easy start." I nod, and point ahead.

"Torchic, change the temperature of your Ember attack, and Mudkip, use small bursts of water," I say. They do, and steam fills the air.

"Now use Water Gun to push Torchic into the air and use you use Ember to hit the ground!" Ruby stares at me, but says nothing.

"Now turn up the heat!" I call, and Torchic's Ember turns into Flamethrowers that dance through the blasts of water in a flowing, and mystical way. I grin.

"This is pretty cool!" I exclaim. "I never knew Water and Fire could do this!" Ruby smiles.

"Nice job, but you need to think of what exactly you're doing, and fix all your timing." I nod.

"And-"

"What is a novice like you doing at a contest like one here in Rustboro?" a snarky voice asks. I turn around to hear who is being such a smart ass when I notice the...hair. I blink in surprise.

I know this person from someplace...but where?

Yeah yeah...you all know who this is. ;) It's kinda hard to get back into writing this story...because I'm writing a different one with a character with a TOTALLY different personality. Oh well. I will try to get back into May-Sapphire's head soon. ^-^
