"Any love lost is a sad love lost, we just don't realize it because we are selfish."
The moon was starting to rise and crickets were beginning to chirp. It was the perfect setting, besides the fact that a certain tiger was prowling in the background. The couple sat on a nearby bench as Kuroko sipped on a vanilla shake.
"Isn't it beautiful?" Kise asked happily. "It is," Kuroko replied. Kise could sense the mood tensing and acted swiftly. "Kurokocchi, did you have enough time to think things through?" Kise was being sincere at this moment and the phantom sixth man could tell yet again. "Kise-kun, it was a lovely thought...I just don't know.." Kuroko stopped drinking and looked up at the moon. Kise wasn't surprised by the doubt in his comrade's throat. In fact, Kise was almost used to Kuroko's rejection, almost. He ignored his compliments, rejected his gifts, and refused any form of contact. Yet, Kise knew Kuroko had his soft side. He always paid attention to his true love. He noticed when he grew a few centimeters taller, when his precious pet died, when he learned a new technique, and those smiles when he turned around after Kise had made a move. He knew Kuroko's heart accepted him little by little, that's why he never gave up.
"Kise-kun?" Kuroko suddenly appeared in front of him. Ryouta snapped out of his day dreaming and recollected his thoughts.
"Kise-kun, I just don't know it's so sudden. I have family, school, and teammates...teammates.." Kuroko repeated. Kise's eyes switched just as they had on the day he entered the tiger's territory.
"Oh you mean that oaf Taiga?" Kise snapped. "Whats so good about him anyway? The appearance? I'm a freaking model! Kise screamed. "Is it his basketball? I'm one of the Generation of Miracles! Can He cook? I'll hire every chef for you.. so why huh?You don't think I've done my research? I've seen your stupid games with him..the rookie duo of Seirin. We were partners before you even met that dumb Bakagami! So why is he so much better than me? Why?" Kise's tears reflected the same moonlight he had admired Kuroko in.
Kise wiped the waterfall of tears when suddenly he felt a rabbit's nose. Kise opened his eyes and saw the shorter figure embracing him. Kise was far more surprised than he could realize. "Kise-kun, I'm sorry," Kuroko whispered. "All these years you were always the one to openly love me for who I was. You were the one that could see past my mistakes and imperfections. You can be so silly at times, but I thinks that balances us out,"
"Kurokocchi.." Kise said surprisingly. The mood had lightened. "Does this mean you'll finally go out with me?" Kise said softly and half jokingly. Kuroko looked up at Kise and saw that he was flustered just by that gesture. Kuroko got on his tiptoes and kissed Ryouta's nose. Kise instantly turned red and covered his mouth out of disbelief. "Kise-kun, I'm sorry for all those years I ignored you...I'm sorry I never returned your feelings.." Kise just stared and listened to the boy who was now in front of him. "I'm sorry, but it is not you I love the most..." Kise's tears slowly returned. "Kurokocchi, you're telling me things I already know," he chuckled in a way that hurt Kuroko's heart. "I've always known who you loved the most, but yet I'm still here today like I have been for the past three years." Kuroko looked down knowing exactly who he was talking about. "I can't go to Hawaii with you..." Kuroko changed subjects, and Kise noticed right away and decided to run with it. " I expected that much, but I have a plan B" Kuroko wasn't really surprised and knew he would regret asking, "What is your plan B?"
"I call it, "Lets challenge Kurokocchi to a basketball one-on-one to practically force him to go to Hawaii with me so he can discover his true love for me challenge"" Kise said perfectly as if he had practiced it a thousand times. Kuroko giggled and agreed.
As they walked around the gate that concealed the small basketball court they noticed the bush had a red patch on top and muscular legs. Kuroko, who obviously knew it's identity, gave the red patch a nice hit with his fist. Kagami, who was too busy daydreaming and lost his chance to run, was forced to hide in the bush. Kagami slowly came up and was ashamed that he had been caught eavesdropping. "Kuroko , its not what it looks like (even though it was) I can explain..." Kagami preached. "It looks to me that you couldn't trust me so you decided to listen in as Kise-kun and I had a heart-to-heart discussion." Kagami looked down again in shame, sure Kuroko was missing some major points but he had the basic story. "Kagami-kun, Kise shared some things he probably didn't want you to hear and for that, I cannot forgive you. People need their privacy.." Tetsuya explained. And right then and there Kagami could tell that Kuroko wasn't only talking about Kise, but himself too. He had no right to ask Kuroko about his past with the Generation of Miracles. "C'mon Kurokocchi that's a little harsh don't ya think?" Kise awkwardly said. Kise could tell the two had gotten lost in their own world. "I will forgive you however, if you help me defeat Kise-kun," Kuroko stretched out his hand to the large boy sitting in gloom. Kagami looked up and gave a smile. Kuroko helped Kagami up and exchanged a fist bump. The rookie duo of Seirin was back. Kise ran his fingers through his hair and threw his designer blazer off. "This just keeps getting more interesting," Kise muttered.
