A/N: Please read and review! Please! This is a desperate author's begging. (Just kidding).
She was blissfully dreaming. The dream seemed to last forever but she never left his arms in that. She was staring into his perfect symmetrically sharp face and that messy hair…What was wrong with her? She no longer minded when James ruffled through his hair. In fact she had been fantasying about that very hair. About running her hands through them and pulling James close to her and…
She never fantasied when she was awake. No. she would never forgive herself. It was always in her sub-conscious state…her dreamy state that she did.
On the following particular morning, Lily was perhaps the most confused person on this whole universe. Her feelings were totally mixed up like: how she had felt about that hug, what she had made of that, the fact that the person in question was POTTER, and how James would have deciphered the fact that she had hugged him back. She was also confused about whether or not to tell Marlene, for she didn't know what she would make of it, and she also doubtful whether James would tell his friends and brag that he had finally cornered the girl who had defied him for good.
Lily never thought this would happen. She always knew that James Potter saw her as a prize to be won and would probably dump her after kissing her. Blast! She hated James potter for everything! Swearing to avoid Potter from now on, she just remembered that she had her first patrolling with him today. She swore loudly. Many people turned to see her astonished. Without a care she proceeded to her classes.
After debating on it for a while, she decided not to tell Marlene. Lily would, anyways, ask James about why he had hugged her last night- not that she had actually indeed- during patrolling.
That day during, History of Magic, Marlene had news for her. And great news it was indeed!
As soon as Lily slipped in next to her friend Marlene asked, "Lils, shall we slip into Hogsmeade today?"
Lily looked at her questioningly. "Why, the Hogsmeade weekend, is just tomorrow. Why not go then?"
"That's… that's because… Oh my god Lily! Jack proposed to me! Can you believe it?" Marlene asked with the big smile.
"Really? And what did you say?" Lily asked curiosity aroused.
"Yes, of course!" gasped Marlene.
"Oh, Marlene! Congrats! I'm so happy for you." shouted Lily.
Some people, including Professor Binns, turned to look at her.
Lily mumbled an apology and spent the rest of the lesson asking her friend about the details of what had exactly happened. After the really boring class, she dragged Marlene to her Heads Dormitory in hope to have some privacy. Thankfully, James wasn't there.
"Tell me everything, Marlene. Every single detail." Lily ordered.
Marlene giggled. "Well, me and Jack were walking along the Hogwarts corridors when suddenly, Filch turned up. Jack had just completed his Quidditch practice and so had left mud all over the floor. To escape from Filch, we both ran and ran till our lives went. We were in the seventh corridor. Exactly when we thought we were well shot of Filch, he came bounding round the corridor. We took a turn and suddenly, we were in a room that was decorated so beautifully."
Lily gasped. "The Room of Requirement! Marlene, Jack proposed to you in the Room of Requirement?!"
Marlene blushed and nodded.
"Oh! I'm so happy for you!" said Lily jumping up and hugging her friend.
"Thanks, Lils." said Mar.
The two friends spent the rest of the day happily.
When night approached, Lily must admit, she was quite nervous. Nervous about the upcoming patrolling she had with James Potter. Potter was late as usual and he joined her fuming face with a cocky grin.
"Shall we leave?" he asked.
Lily merely nodded.
Once they were out into the night, Lily felt very different. She was all alone in a corridor with James Potter! A dark corridor at that! Fighting any emotions she might be feeling, she put as much distance as possible between herself and James.
She stiffly folded her hands across her chest. She was confused, yet again. She didn't want to talk to James this morning. She didn't want to patrol with him at all. But now, with him, she was only waiting for an excuse to start off.
She was angry with James for not talking to her already, and was angry with herself for wanting it. Her stubbornness was the only thing that was stopping her.
She knew James could have easily talked. Though it was hardly a few minutes since, they had started patrolling, probably ten, she felt like it had been an hour already. On the other hand, her conscience reminded her evilly, that other day when she had talked with him, two hours had passed and she felt like they were hardly ten minutes.
