I thought most kidnappings happened by people who knew the victim. Not just randomly picked up off the street. Well, I guess people did that too. To think that it actually happened to me? It was something that I couldn't completely wrap my mind around.
I stared blankly at the shower wall. There was a crack in the tile and I swear a cockroach would come through it at any moment. The water had long since gone cold, but I couldn't bring myself to get out and face those two once more.
Kayden. Oh God, I can't imagine him at this point. I felt like I should be more hysterical. Crying. Screaming. Something to indicate to other people that things weren't right.
I placed a hand on my forehead before cutting off the water. I pulled back the thin curtain and peered out. At least they had the decency to stay out of the bathroom while I was there.
There was a plastic bag sitting on the closed toilet lid. I had the towel wrapped around my body when I opened the bag and began to pull out the clothes. I froze with a grey and white striped sweater in my hand. These were my clothes. The blue jeans. The sweater. They were mine.
I glanced at the door and had the odd feeling in the pit of my stomach that this wasn't just a thrill run. They had to have planned this.
I opened the bathroom door and tossed the towel over the dingy TV. They both stood there and my gaze was yet again drawn to the smaller of the two. He was, to be blunt, incredibly handsome. His frosted blonde brown hair stood away from his face and he had a very strong jawline.
"Are you a part of a mafia or something?"
They shared a look before the smaller one pulled a cloth out of his black jacket.
"Is that all I get?" I was becoming frustrated with the two of them, "More chloroform? Am I always going to be drugged?"
The larger of the two just grinned, "Not always. Once we get back –"
I stepped forward and snatched the cloth out of the smaller ones hands.
"Before I do this," I looked up into his eyes, "I want to at least know who you people are."
"Felix," The larger of the two pointed at himself before pointing at the smaller, "Demetri."
I kept eye contact with Demetri as I lifted the rag up to cover my nose. Black dots began to pop up in my vision before my eyelids grew heavy.
Demetri
I caught her weight as she toppled forward. Her head lolled to the side before I settled it against my shoulder.
"Brave little thing, isn't she?" Felix commented.
I didn't answer. I couldn't answer. It seemed as though he wasn't having quite as much trouble controlling his thirst as I was controlling mine. Which was quite ironic considering his was much more animalistic than I was.
I didn't breathe as I lifted her up into my arms. She made a small groan on protest as I did so.
It was around one am when we reached the Palmer Flying Services Airport. The drug only lasted about two hours and Kara had long since awaken. Kara straightened as we pulled onto the runway.
"Where are you taking me?"
"This would've been so much easier if he had sent Heidi instead of me." Felix groaned.
She stared out the tinted window and at the jet, "No, you can't do this. No."
Before the car had even stopped, Kara had flung the door open and thrust herself from the car. She managed to stay somewhat stable on her feet and sprint off in the opposite direction of the jet.
The driver skid to halt. The tires screeched against the pavement as Felix leapt from the backseat.
Brave little thing, isn't she? I recalled Felix's words as I stepped from the thrumming car. Felix grabbed her by her upper arms and swung her from the ground. She struggled, fought as hard as she could to escape his grasp.
"Easy now, Felix. She's still mortal."
Kara froze at that. Her blue eyes widen as she stared at me, "What are you?"
"Like we said before, doll." Felix continued to drag her towards the plane, "It'll all be explained soon."
Kara
I stared out the window. The jet was pure luxury. Tan leather sofas sat along the walls of the jet with blue throw pillows set carefully on each. Even a damn liquor bar. Although I didn't think these people even drank alcohol. I had a meal set on the rectangular table in front of me, but I couldn't find my appetite.
I took a moment to peer around the cabin before turning back to the window. I hadn't heard them step away, but I was alone.
Mafia. These people . . . or things, whatever they were, they had to be in some sort of mafia. Honestly, who the hell wore suits in the most dreadful of occasions?
Alright, here you go! Next chapter! Finally getting to the good stuff now so keep reading on!
Much Love,
