Jaden:*bursts in, very angry* Hey! Who's Angel-of-Anime Mizumi!?

Me:*puzzled* I am, why? You already knew that.

Jaden:*Still angry* No I don't! Why did you turn me into a girl?

Me: Oooohh, your the original Jaden, that would explain a lot. As for why your a girl, I always wanted one of Dark's hosts to be female and since I was hooked on GX and you're the main character, why not?

Original Jaden: I hate you so much right now.

Me: Suck it up, you big baby.

Disclaimer- I don't own GX or D.N. Angel.

Chapter 7: Jaden's Melancholy, Haou Appears, and Daisuke's Bloodline Awakened

The first week after Yubel's kidnaping was torture for Jaden. For two days, she woke up crying from nightmares of Yubel being taken from her. She didn't eat, attend classes, bathe, or talk to anyone, spending her time to look for her missing guardian. Jaden also gave up trying to sleep so she didn't have to face the nightmares every night.

The heist notices from Emiko didn't help Jaden's health either. Whenever Dark performed them, he suffered from Jaden neglecting to take care of herself to the point of him calling the middle-aged woman to postpone any new heists after the teen went 5 days without taking care of herself. The amethyst haired thief cared deeply for Jaden and made sure he rested and ate something so his host/little sister figure didn't die from malnutrition. Unfortunately, whenever he gave control back to Jaden, she would soon vomit whatever he had eaten before.

Ten days after the disappearance of Yubel, Jaden was wandering the forest for any clue of Yubel when she collapsed and lost consciousness. Winged Kuriboh panicked and rushed off to find Jesse, who had transferred into Slifer after the practical exams(A/N: Same outfit when he first appears, just with a red vest and Slifer sneakers. Oh and the shirt is now white, without frills, and the sleeves go to his elbows.). When he found the Crystal Beast duelist, Winged Kuriboh flew around his head, bopping Jesse several times, explaining what happened to the depressed Slifer female.

Turning several shades lighter at the revelation, Jesse told Syrus, who was sitting right next to him in class, to get the nurse quickly and ran off towards the forest. When the tealnette found Jaden, she was pale, dirty, thin as a bone, had bags under her eyes, and had a huge fever present. Syrus and Ms. Fontaine arrived moments later and were shocked upon seeing the normally cheerful brunette reduced to the sickly shell in front of them.

The three rushed to the infirmary to clean the brunette and put her in new clothes before giving her IV fluids and laying her in one of the infirmary's beds. Ms. Fontaine told the two boys to watch the brunette for any changes in her condition while she went to tell the chancellor of Jaden's predicament. Nodding their heads in agreement, the two boys sat right next to the girl's bedside, Jesse holding Jaden's arm without the IV in it and Syrus laying a damp washcloth over her forehead. Five minutes later, Jaden opened her eyes to find herself staring at the ceiling of the infirmary.

"W-where am I?" Jaden asked blearily.

"You're in the infirmary Jay. Jesse found your collapsed form in the middle of the forest," Syrus replied worriedly. The brunette just nodded in head in agreement, remembering that she blacked out. Just then Ms. Fontaine walked back in with both Chancellor Sheppard and Professor Banner in tow.

Upon seeing that Jaden was awake, Ms. Fontaine scolded her. "Miss Yuki, you have a lot of explaining to do! When was the last time you ate, bathed, or slept because you look like you haven't eaten in weeks!"

Jaden lowered her head in shame as she replied, "I haven't eaten in 10 days and the last time I slept was eight days ago." Then looking straight into the school nurse's eyes with tears pouring out of her eyes, she exclaimed, "Please Ms. Fontaine let me go! I promise I'll start taking care of myself once I find her! She's one of my best friends and my guardian! I can't take another day spent away from her. Please, let me find Yubel!" The brunette then started crying from the combined effects of worry for her guardian, lack of sleep, and stress as Jesse wrapped her in a huge hug.

When he heard Jaden exclaim "Yubel," Sheppard froze. Banner noticed this and decided to press Sheppard on the topic. "Chancellor, do you know anything about this 'Yubel' person?"

"No, I don't know anything about this 'Yubel'," Sheppard lied. However, Ms. Fontaine knew the truth and called Sheppard out. "Actually Professor Banner, the chancellor does know what Yubel is. Yubel is a very rare Duel Monster card that rightfully belongs to Jaden, but now one of the Obelisks has it on their person."

She then turned to the brunette and placed a gentle hand on Jaden's shoulder. "Jaden, were you on the roof the day Yubel went missing?" the nurse asked in a calm voice. Seeing that his friend wasn't able to talk due to her crying, Jesse answered for her. "Yes, we were Ms. Fontaine. Jaden and I were the ones playing the music on the roof on the day of the promotion exams. Syrus and Chumley joined in later."

"That means…"

Jesse nodded. "The four of us were the people that left the instruments and sound equipment lying around in fear of being discovered. We were behind the structure next to the stairs when you and four others showed up. We're really sorry. Jay and I wanted to do this as soon as my voice came back to me."

"I see. Well Mr. Anderson, as punishment for your actions that day, you, Mr. Truesdale, and Mr. Huffington will be cleaning all the instruments you used. Miss Yuki would have been punished too, but I believe her punishment already has come in the form of the grief stricken and malnourished state she's in."

"W-wait!" Everyone looked to see Jaden in an even more flustered state. "D-don't punish them for this. W-we were going to c-clean up after the p-p-performance, but we got scared when y-you, the chancellor, and the three others with you came up to the roof. P-plus, it was my idea in the first place."

"But Jaden, it was your birthday, you shouldn't be punished for celebrating or expressing yourself," Syrus protested. Shock flooded through the adults as they heard the statement.

Regaining composure, Ms. Fontaine coughed into her hand and said, "Well that would explain why Miss Yuki looked so feminine that day. It would also explain why we found two gift boxes near the instruments. We left them unopened since opening others gifts is rude." Jaden then started to weakly reach for them when the nurse pulled them away. "Ah, no Miss Yuki, you're not getting these back until you a deemed healthy. Now, I suggest you get a lot of rest."

Jaden's eyes widened in fear as she shook her head frantically. "N-n-n-n-no! I can't go to sleep!"

"Is it a matter of can't or won't Jaden?"

A new voice then came from Jaden's bed. However, only Jesse heard him. "It's a matter of won't Ms. Fontaine. Jaden has been having nightmares on the two days she did go to sleep willingly. I've tried to nourish our body but as soon as I give control back to her, Jaden throws it all back up."

Jesse turned and looked Dark in the eye before relaying all the amethyst-haired spirit said, only tweaking small bits and parts so no suspicion was aroused about the spirit. When Sheppard questioned the tealnette on how he knew what was going on with Jaden, Jesse said he heard Jaden get up several times during the past 10 nights, mostly hearing her vomit. The headmaster of Duel Academy nodded as he accepted the answer given to him.

Jesse then turned to the only female adult in the room and asked, "Um Ms. Fontaine, can I have the gift wrapped with the rainbow-colored ribbon please?"

"May I ask why?"

"I think the contents inside might help soothe Jaden."

"Alright, Jesse. You can give this gift to Jaden. The other one stays in my office, okay?"

He nodded in agreement before receiving the gift. Turning to Jaden, the teal-haired Slifer presented it and said, "Happy Birthday Jaden. I know it's two weeks late, but I hope you like it."

Jaden smiled weakly before tearing the paper carefully and opened the box to find a plush version of Winged Kuriboh and the human version of Yubel. There was also a plush white mage chocobo with the other two. Tearing up slightly, the Slifer brunette hugged Jesse before gathering the plush dolls in her arms and bouncing a bit on the bed.

"I know it's not actually Yubel, but I thought that since you loved her so much, something that looked like her might help comfort you," Jesse explained after being released from the hug, chuckling at the brunette's childish behavior.

Jaden only smiled more brightly before thanking the elder boy. Suddenly, she fell backwards onto the sheets. "Jaden! /Jay! /Miss Yuki!" Syrus, Jesse, and Ms. Fontaine all shouted simultaneously as they all rushed to the Slifer's hospital bed. They all sighed in relief when it was discovered that the 15-year-old girl had fainted in exhaustion and was now asleep.

Turning around, Jesse found Dark, in the same feverish state as Jaden, being supported by the spirits of Elemental Heroes Avian and Sparkman. However, Dark was still conscious and lifted his head a bit to speak to Jesse. "Thanks Jess, she really needs this. Make sure to wake her up only to feed her or let her use the restroom."

"Hey, it's what friends do for each other. How long will Jaden be like this?"

"I not sure myself. Maybe a week or two."

"Okay then, the others and I will look for Yubel while she recuperates."

Dark gave a weak nod, but it was Avian who responded. "We appreciate the lengths others are willing to go to look for our friend. Is there any way we could repay you?"

Jesse chuckled, 'Funny, I remember asking Jaden that same question after she saved me.' "Just make sure she gets the bedrest she needs."

This time Dark started to laugh. "Oh man, talk about déjà vu! Didn't Jay say something similar to you about two weeks ago?"

"Yep," the teal haired Slifer responded, popping the 'p.'

"Hey Jesse, who are you talking to?" Syrus asked, confused that the taller boy was, once again, conversing with air.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you Sy," was all Jesse replied before leaving the room to look for the missing card. Syrus shrugged as he and everyone else followed his classmate out the room. Once he saw that no one was around, Dark asked the heroes supporting him to put him next to Jaden's bedside. They complied with his request, sitting him down in a chair next to the vessel of the phantom thief.

"So what's going to happen, now that Jaden is out of commission for two weeks?" Avian asked worriedly.

Dark just sighed as he ran his fingers through Jaden's two-tone hair. "I'm not quite sure myself. I don't have another host. Even if I did, they wouldn't be fast enough to escape if I left them on their own for a while."

Jaden then opened her eyes again. "Mmm, Dark?" she asked in a voice barely above a whisper.

"Jaden you're supposed to be getting rest!"

"I know, but do you think you could get me some water? I'm thirsty."

Dark smiled in relief. "Alright. Luckily there's a small bowl of water next to me so I can take a sponge and have you drink the water from there."

Jaden was then propped up by Sparkman as Dark gave her some water from a damp sponge. As she drank, Jaden noticed Dark's worried expression. "Dark?"

"Mmm?"

"I'm sorry about this. I should have taken better care of myself so you wouldn't have to worry about my well-being and the inability to perform heists."

Dark's facial expression changed to one of sympathy as he looked at Jaden's upset face. "It's alright Jaden. You were worried about Yubel. I'm sure if anyone was in your shoes, they might be going through the same thing."

"Still, I'm sorry." Jaden's face then lit up. "Wait, there is a way for you to still perform the heists!"

"No there isn't Jay! I need a host and they need to be able to run as fast as lightning!"

"Yes there is! Daisuke has been going through the same training regiments as me since he was able to walk! While I'm recovering, you and Daisuke can pull off the heists."

"How can we pull off the heists if we're both spirits?"

"Dark two spiritual beings can become visible if they create a link to fuse themselves together."

"Really!?"

Jaden nodded as she then continued. "Yep, they can, Yubel told me herself. Daisuke will be ecstatic that he will be able to go on an art theft finally. So, do you think you two can do it?"

"Sure thing. I'll call mom and tell her that you caught a virus and ask if Daisuke and I can pull off the heists that were postponed."

"Okay, Avian, can you tell Daisuke that I permit him to form a link with Dark so the heists will go on?"

The wind attribute warrior nodded and flew off towards the Slifer dorm to inform the rose angel of recent events. Jaden then yawned as she was lowered back onto the bed. "Make sure you get tons of rest. Only get up if you feel hungry, thirsty, or need to use the restroom," Dark stated before Jaden nodded and fell asleep again.

Meanwhile, Syrus and Chumley had teamed up to look for their female roommate's missing card and, possibly, her keychain. They had asked the other staff members about the matter, since Sheppard refused to tell them and Ms. Fontaine would be too busy caring for Jaden. While the duo hadn't heard anything about Yubel, Syrus and Chumley did hear about one of the Obelisk Blue girls having a cute sun keychain with the word 'Forever' since the beginning of September. However, there was no name mentioned since the teacher that saw the keychain was looking down at ungraded tests at that time.

Jesse was asking every Obelisk Blue student about any of the students in their dorm recently gaining a new card no one had ever heard or seen of. Unfortunately, either the students didn't know about it or they ignored him because he was in Slifer. Sighing in defeat, Jesse almost ran into Daisuke, who was on his way to see Dark.

"W-whoa there buddy! Where you off to that's causing you to fly like a falcon is trying to capture you and have you for dinner?" Jesse asked after calming down at almost having a heart attack.

"Hey, Jess. Dark called me to talk about something in the infirmary. How's the search for Yubel going?"

"Not good really, but I'm not giving up. Mind if I come with you?"

"Not at all, but Dark might since there's something you don't know about him."

Jesse only nodded in response as he followed the rose angel to the infirmary. Walking in, Jesse saw Daisuke take his human size and found the amethyst haired spirit holding Jaden's hand, his head on the bed, asleep. Daisuke's cheeks turned a rosy pink upon seeing Dark look so peaceful in his sleep, hoping Jesse won't tease him about it.

Jesse did notice the ruby-haired angel's blush, tapped him on the shoulder, and asked in a very quiet voice, "Dai, do you like Dark?" Daisuke only nodded in confirmation to the question before verbally answering, "Yeah, it's embarrassing, but I have a crush on Dark. I also had a crush on a girl named Risa, but I got over it. So, I guess you can say I'm a bisexual. Please don't tell anyone."

"I wouldn't dream of it Daisuke, your secret is safe with me."

"Thank you so much!"

Dark then started to wake up. "Ngh! What time is it?" Noticing Daisuke and Jesse standing in front of him, he started to blush a little. "Ah! Daisuke, Jesse, what are you doing here?" he said in a flustered tone.

"Wow, the great Dark Mousy, flustered. I thought I'd never see the day it happened," Daisuke said in a smug voice.

"S-shut up Daisuke, you still haven't answered my question."

"Avian said that you had something to tell me and Jesse tagged along."

"I thought Avian already told you."

Daisuke shook his head. "No, Avian said to go to the infirmary where you had something to tell me."

"Oh, um, well you see…"

"Dark it's alright. I already know who you are," Jesse interrupted.

The two spirits turned to the teal-haired boy in shock. "B-but how?" Daisuke stuttered.

"Jaden had told me about Dark during one of her visits to see me. He was asleep in the back of Jay's mind when she told me." Seeing their concerned faces, Jesse gave a small smile. "Don't worry, this secret is safe with me, I promised I wouldn't tell a single soul. Just like Jaden's other secret."

Sighing in relief, Dark regained his usual composure as he said, "Daisuke, Jay said that we have her permission to fuse together in order to perform all the heists that were postponed."

The ruby-haired angel's eyes then became wide as saucers as he asked in excitement, "Really!?" Dark nodded in confirmation and was surprised to see Daisuke come up to him crying and pulling him in an embrace.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you! I always wanted to be part of the family tradition, but due to the fact I'm dead, I couldn't. It didn't stop me from training with Jaden though. I can't wait!"

Dark chuckled at the rose angel's antics before stating, "Well, you don't have to wait long. I called Emiko and told her Jaden caught the flu, but I was going to pull off the postponed heists with you while she recovered. She was pretty ecstatic when she heard her son was going to carry on the Niwa tradition, despite your, ahem, 'condition'. Anyway, we're going to be stealing the Hikari artwork known as Precious Times, Glory Days (A/N: I drew inspiration from Yu-Gi-Oh GX fourth opening, which has the same name.) tonight at 9PM. You think you're ready?"

"I think so, but can we train a bit before the heist?"

"Sure thing. Since this is your first heist, you're going to need all the training you can get."

Jesse then spoke up. "Hey, do you think I can join you? I was the fastest in my class back in middle school and I don't want to get out of shape."

Dark pondered for a minute before deciding. "Sure, but I warn you, it's at a very fast pace. Think you can handle it?"

"I'll do my best."

"Good. Training will start in the forest at noon, so that gives you 15 minutes to get ready. Daisuke and I will see you there."

Jesse nodded and ran off to the Slifer dorm, where he changed into a grey, V-neck tee shirt, navy blue sports shorts, a blue checkered wrist sweatband, and black sneakers. Checking the time, Jesse saw he had 5 minutes to meet up with the rose angel and phantom thief. As he arrived, Jesse found Daisuke dodging all sorts of objects being thrown by Dark.

Noticing that Jesse had arrived, Dark stopped throwing objects and smirked. "I got to admit Jess, that was quick, your seven minutes early. It took you five minutes to get from the infirmary to the Slifer dorms, 1 minute to change clothes, and 2 minutes to get here. Color me impressed."

"Huh, but my clock said…" Jesse paused before coming to a realization. "Wait a minute, my clock must have been two minutes ahead!"

"Never mind about your clock. What matters is that you're here right now." Looking around the area, Dark found what he was looking for, a stopwatch. "Before we start the kind of training Daisuke's doing, let's start off with something simple. Run once around the island's perimeter, excluding the volcano, so we can get a sense of your speed and endurance. That fine with you?"

The tealnette nodded in agreement as he went into starting position. Dark only smirked and said, "Alright then, on your mark, get set…GO!"

Jesse then took off like a bullet as he ran towards the beach before following the island's edge. Along the way, he found fallen tree branches and medium-sized rocks he had to either run around or jump over. Three-quarters along the way, Jesse started to lose speed, but he still persisted in finishing the course. Ten minutes later, the Crystal Beast duelist made it back to the point where he started running the perimeter, sweaty and gasping for air.

Clicking the 'Stop' button on the stopwatch, Dark whistled. "Wow, now I'm really impressed Jess. You ran 75% of the perimeter before your endurance started to give away, all in twenty minutes and with the obstacles too. In total you took half an hour to run around the island."

"R-really? I-it felt *gasp* much longer than *gasp* that," Jesse managed to wheeze out before he started panting again. Dark just nodded as he gave the out of breath boy a water bottle, which the Slifer gratefully took and gulped down half the bottle. "Ah, that's so much better! So, what's next?"

"Well, we'll have to work on improving your endurance a bit, considering it's already good. So this time I'll have you run around the school building until you drop without any obstacles. Daisuke will be marking down your laps as you pass him, okay?"

"What about you?"

"I'm going to refill your water bottle and check on Jaden while I'm at it."

"Okay, Daisuke and I will get started as soon as we reach the main building."

Dark nodded in agreement as he power walked towards the infirmary. The remaining two then took their time to get to the main building in order to cool off. As soon as they were within 10 feet of the school's doors, Jesse took off running laps.

Alexis was taking a stroll from the Obelisk Girls' dorm to the main building, when a teal blur almost ran her over. The blur then stopped and jogged in place, to see that the girl they almost knocked over was alright.

"Sorry, I didn't see you there. You okay?" Jesse asked as he jogged in place.

"Yeah I'm fine. What are you-" Alexis didn't finished her sentence as she looked into the boy's emerald green eyes. 'Wow, his eyes are so beautiful and looks pretty cute. Wait, what am I thinking? I barely know this guy!'

Alexis was so caught up in her thoughts that she didn't hear Jesse say good-bye and resumed running laps. When she snapped out of her thoughts, the boy was gone. Shrugging her shoulders, Alexis continued on her stroll, unaware two sets of eyes were watching her.

Meanwhile, Daisuke was incredulous. The older boy in front of him had ran for almost three straight hours and accumulated over 30 laps in that time frame. "B-b-b-bu-bu- but how!?" Daisuke stammered.

"How what, Dai?"

Daisuke turned around and found the phantom thief smirking with his arms crossed. "J-J-Jesse just ran 36 laps for three straight hours Dark!" the rose angel exclaimed, causing Dark to choke on his spit.

"What!?"

"I know, right? Only Jaden has ran for that long, and she ran 50 laps before tiring out!"

They would have continued the conversation, when Jesse interrupted. "Hey guys? I think you two should continue training because it's almost 4 o'clock and your heist is tonight at 9." Both spirits nodded at the truth in Jesse's statement as they resumed Daisuke's training.

The green-eyed Slifer then walked back to the Slifer Red dorms in order to take a shower and grab something to eat later on. On his way, he ran into two girls, Jasmine and Mindy. "Um, hi. Is there anything I can help you two with?" Jesse asked nervously.

Jasmine stepped forward and stated, "Yeah, there is. Before we ask though, I'm Jasmine Marigorudo and the black-haired girl next to me is Mindy Hachimitsu."

(A/N: I drew the last names for Jasmine and Mindy from the first letter of their Japanese surnames and the meaning of their first names. Since jasmine is a type of flower and her surname started with 'M', I chose the Japanese word for marigold, marigorudo. Mindy's name was derived from Greek and meant honey, hence hachimitsu.)

"Nice to meet you both, I'm Jesse Anderson."

"Same here Jesse. Anyway what were you doing with Alexis?" Mindy asked.

"Alexis, is that the name of the girl I almost ran into?" Jesse questioned.

Both girls nodded in response. "Yeah, everyone knows she's the Queen of Obelisk," Jasmine commented.

"Really? I've only been attending Duel Academy since Monday of last week, so I wouldn't know."

"Wait a minute that means you're the boy that was rescued on the first day of school!" Mindy exclaimed.

The tealnette chuckled slightly. "Yeah, that was me. Can we not talk about it, it makes me uncomfortable."

"Alright then, but what were you doing with our friend?"

"I was running around the building when I almost ran over your friend. I went back to see if she was alright before I continued. Now, can I please be on my way? I kinda need to wash up."

Both girls nodded in response and let Jesse pass by, who then ran as fast as he could to avoid anyone else.

Back with Daisuke and Dark, the former was running around the main building, dodging any objects thrown at him at a fast pace by Dark. After Daisuke finished training 1 hour later, Dark asked the rose angel to do the same thing the phantom thief had done to him. Said angel complied and trained Dark for the next 2 hours.

After they were done, Daisuke and Dark went to the infirmary to check on Jaden one last time before walking to the Slifer dorm to change into tonight's outfit. Upon entering the room Jaden shared with Syrus and Chumley, the duo made sure no one was around when they fused together. Once they did, Daisuke found out that Dark gave him control of their new body. The crimson-haired angel then crept into the secret room and put on a high-collared, sleeveless shirt with two purple lines that ran off the ends, creating four pieces of ribbon-like fringe, black, detached sleeves that covered three-quarters of his arms, gray cargo pants, and a black version of Jaden's shoes. (A/N: Just think of a black and purple version of the upper half of Len Kagamine's Append outfit for the shirt and arms.)

As soon as he was finished, Daisuke gave control to Dark, who called out "Wiz!" as soon as he stepped outside. By then it was 8:00, giving them an hour to get from Duel Academy to the Azumono Museum, which actually takes 20 minutes to get there by air. So when Dark arrived, he had a lot of time to spare.

Dark decided to spend the 40 minutes of free time he had to visit Riku Harada to inform her of events going on at Duel Academy. When the elder Harada heard what had happened, she asked the amethyst-haired thief to drop by her room after the heist. Knowing that Riku cared for Jaden's wellbeing, Dark agreed before taking off to steal the artwork.

Arriving at the museum, Dark avoided the searchlights that swept the night sky and landed safely on the roof. Cautiously opening a window, Dark jumped inside and gave Daisuke control, while their outer appearance was still Dark's.

When Daisuke entered the room containing the artwork, he found that Precious Times, Glory Days was actually a set of three small statues of a human and what looked to be a Duel Monster or two.

The first statue depicted a young Egyptian pharaoh wearing a knee-length tunic, golden accessories, sandals, a cloak, and an upside-down pyramid with a human-like monster wearing a combination of armor and wizard robes and a huge, serpentine dragon with two mouths.

The third statue depicted an Incan youth in his late teens and a marking on his right forearm standing in the claws of a sleek, bipedal dragon.

The second statue, which had shocked Daisuke and Dark the most, showed a male about thirteen years of age wearing a tunic shorter that the pharaoh's, black shorts, jewelry on the wrists and ankles, sandals, and a cape held in place by a jeweled brooch. Next to the young teen was a humanoid monster with spikes on its upper arms, shoulders, waist, thighs, knees, and feet. His hair looked like a tamer version of Jaden's, yet his facial structure still beheld innocence as he held a helmet with a faceplate on it within his hands.

Meanwhile, Jaden was sweating profusely as she tossed and turned, groaning "Yubel" or "Someone, anyone. Please, help me." from time to time in her feverish state.

In all her years as a nurse, Emi Fontaine had never seen a case like the young, two-tone brunette's as she tried to calm the teen's thrashing. 'The poor girl. It's like she lost a piece of herself when…Yubel went missing," the nurse finished her thought out loud as she paled tremendously at the revelation.

'Oh, if there is a greater power out there, please help Jaden. She's lost someone significant to her and needs somebody to support her spiritually until they're found,' Ms. Fontaine silently prayed as she left the room.

Unknown to her, another presence was already in the room, fulfilling the wish. This was a young teenage boy who is the same height, weight, age, and the same hair colors and style as Jaden, but had golden eyes. "I wish we didn't have to meet under these circumstances, Jaden," the spirit said mournfully.

This statement caused Jaden to regain consciousness. "Mm. W-who are you?" she asked the male lookalike, her voice barely above a whisper.

The boy just gave a sympathetic smile. "I'm Haou, it's nice to meet you, despite the situation we're in."

"How did you know my name, Haou?"

"I'm your twin brother." (A/N: I'm going to stick to the idea that neither of them will know they are the reincarnation of the same person until later.)

"That would explain why you look a lot like me," Jaden weakly chuckled.

"Yeah, but…"

"But what? You weren't born stillborn, were you?"

"N-no, I wasn't! It's just that I was kidnapped when we were only newborns."

"How did that happen!?"

"I'll explain…"

*Flashback*

Emiko was screaming bloody murder the maternity ward as she started pushing out the incoming child from her womb. Ten minutes later a baby was heard crying as a doctor held it in his arms. Two seconds later Emiko screamed again as a second head came out. Luckily, there was another nurse nearby as she rushed to the couple to prevent the other baby from dying. As both babies started crying, the doctor and nurse noticed the first baby, a boy, had gold eyes while the other one, a girl, had chocolate brown eyes. Also, both babies had a small mop of dark brown hair with a patch of caramel brown on top.

The nurse was first to speak as she and the doctor set the twins on Emiko's abdomen and covered them in blankets and a hat for each of them. "Congratulations you two, their twins, a boy and a girl."

Devin and Emiko smiled as the doctor clamped and cut the umbilical cords, before testing blood types and performing an Apgar assessment. After deeming the newborns healthy, the doctor permitted Emiko to breastfeed them. As the new mother fed her new children, she turned towards Devin and asked, "What shall their names be?"

Devin pondered for a few minutes before he replied. "The boy will be Haou Cerin Niwa-Yuki and the girl will be Jaden Kurayami Niwa-Yuki."

The doctor nodded, filling out the newly named Haou and Jaden's birth certificates. The nurse then took both babies away from Emiko so the young woman could rest. Bundling the infants in blankets, the two hospital staff members took the babies to the nursery and put them in identical baby hospital beds before they left to tend to other patients.

Five minutes after the doctor and nurse left the room, a portal suddenly appeared and a fiend with blades and wings stepped out of it. Looking around the room, the fiend sighed in relief before setting its eyes on Haou. Smirking evilly, the fiend walked towards the infant's cradle, carefully picked him up, and escaped through the portal.

Before it passed through the portal, Jaden used powers she didn't know she had to hide all evidence of Haou's existence by wiping Emiko, Devin, the doctor, and nurse's memory of baby Haou and sending her twin's birth certificate to Yubel before they met for the first time. Haou used his powers to separate his body and soul and temporarily fused himself with Jaden until they got his body back. (A/N: Think of Sora and Kairi from the first Kingdom Hearts game, spoilers, where Kairi's heart was inside Sora.)

"I'm sure you remember the rest," Haou finished sadly. (A/N: Refer to the first part of the prologue.)

Jaden nodded in response before she stated, "Haou, I'm so sorry. I accidentally forgot about you because we were so young when it happened. Although, I always felt that another part of me was missing whenever I saw siblings in public"

"It's alright. If our positions were switched, the conversation would probably be the same."

"Yeah, you're most likely right. So, I'm guessing you have been resting in the back of my mind for all these years."

Haou only nodded as he hugged his twin. "So, where's Dark?"

"He and Daisuke fused together to pull off the heists that have been postponed," Jaden answered truthfully.

"Should have known," Haou sighed in amusement. "So, how are you feeling Jay?"

"Better, like a piece of me has been put back, but I still feel a little empty due to Yubel's disappearance.

"That's understandable." Haou then went to the Slifer cafeteria to make Jaden something to eat. When he came back, he found her about to doze off. Smiling, Haou set the food in front of her. "Here, eat this. I bet you're a little hungry, so I made you some cream of potato soup with a small salad."

"Thank you, it looks delicious," the malnourished girl exclaimed, taking a small bite from the salad and shivered involuntarily at the lettuce hitting her taste buds. Soon, she was finished with both the salad and soup and was drinking a glass of water.

Seeing that Jaden had regained a little color, Haou smiled in relief as he coaxed the girl to rest since she finished the water. "Don't worry, I'll be right here if you need anything. Now rest now, you're going to need all the rest you can get," Haou stated as he saw the worried look in her eyes. Jaden soon complied and fell asleep as her head touched the pillow.

As he listened to her gentle breathing, Haou ran his ethereal hands through Jaden's hair and smiled sadly, fingering the chocobo plush toy. 'One day, I hope to be part of this world and be with my family, even if they don't remember or know me,' Haou thought as he gave Jaden a small kiss on her forehead and returned to the recesses of his twin's mind.

Back with Daisuke and Dark, the duo snapped out of their stupor as Daisuke disabled the security systems around the statues and picked the locks. Carefully shoving the artwork's pieces into his satchel, Daisuke swapped back to Dark and made their escape. Or, at least, tried because waiting for them outside was none other than Krad.

As soon as Dark left the museum, the white-winged half of The Black Wings charged towards the phantom thief. Fortunately, Daisuke quickly changed places with Dark and threw a black feather in Krad's face, blinding him momentarily. This gave the rose angel enough time to create a duplicate of the artwork and put it in a spare satchel before swapping back to Dark to start yet another game of Tom and Jerry.

When the smoke cleared, Krad started to chase Dark around until he noticed that they were no longer in Azumono. "Where in the world are we!?" Krad shouted in anger and confusion.

However, Dark knew where exactly the two of them were as he gave off one of his trademark smirks. "Welcome to Domino City, the home of many famous duelists like the King of Games, Yugi Moto and where the first part of the Battle City tournament took place Goldilocks."

"G-Goldielocks!? Why you little son of a b***h! I'll kill you for that!"

"Do your worst Krad, but then again, what about this?" Dark then held out the satchel containing the fake Precious Times, Glory Days to his left. Krad suddenly started to pale as he figured what his counterpart planned to do. "Ah, decisions, decisions. What are you going to do about it? Kill me and have the artwork smash into smithereens or save the artwork and miss the chance to rid of me. Your choice," Dark stated as he let go of the satchel and flew off.

As much as he wanted to kill the thief, Krad dove down and caught the satchel, not wanting any pieces of art created by his host's family to be destroyed. Looking around, Krad found no trace of the dark angel's presence. Angry that he lost Dark, Krad flew back to the Azumono Museum, unaware that Dark had succeeded in his task of stealing and sealing the artwork's magic.

As Dark landed on the balcony of Jaden's room, he was met with the sight of Emiko and Daiki already prepared to perform the sealing ceremony. "Good timing you two. All that has to be done is head down to the basement and perform the ritual," Emiko exclaimed happily.

Dark only nodded as they arrived at the basement and took out the statues that made the artwork whole. When Emiko did see the statues, she was shocked about the second statue's appearance just like Daisuke and Dark. Before anyone had noticed though, she regained composure and performed the sealing. Once that was done, Dark said that he had to go back to school before anyone noticed he was gone and quickly left.

Before he left Azumono, Dark dropped by Riku's room to see want she wanted. When he arrived, the elder Harada hugged him and gave him two containers filled with chocolate and custard filled taiyaki, melon pan, konpeito, and sata andagi. (A/N: All Japanese sweets. Trust me, I looked them up on Wikipedia.) "I was going to send these by mail to Duel Academy, but since you're here, these are some treats I made today after school. They're Jaden's favorites," Riku explained.

"Okay, but what was with the hug just now?" Dark asked, puzzled.

"Oh, um, spur of the moment thing. Sorry about that. Although, friends do hug each other, so I guess I consider you a friend," Riku answered truthfully.

Dark only smiled and nodded before he bid the athletic girl goodbye with a hug of his own and flew off towards Duel Academy Island.

When Dark arrived back at Duel Academy, he quickly separated with Daisuke to check up on his little sister figure. He was very surprised when he came in to find an empty tray of food next to her bedside when the nurse had already left for the night. Figuring the nurse laid down the food earlier and Jaden had eaten it little after the food was set down, Dark just shrugged and returned to her mind's recesses.

Unknown to the amethyst-haired thief, Haou and Jaden had finally met after 15 years of separation and the elder twin healed Jaden's soul enough for her to recover normally.

In the Obelisk Boys' dorm, Zane was looking through his deck, when he thought he felt grief and disappointment from his monsters. Shaking the feeling off, Zane looked at the card he acquired two weeks earlier, Yubel. For some strange reason, he thought the card was crying, but before he could do anything else, his PDA went off.

Answering it, Zane was met with the face of his younger brother Syrus. "Sy, what is so important that you need to call me at 11 PM?"

Syrus then relayed the whole story of Jaden, excluding the true gender of the Slifer and the name of the missing card, to the third-year student. By then Zane, while he didn't show it, was shocked and decided to help his brother look for his friend's missing belongings, not knowing he and Alexis have them.

Yup, that's right, I introduced Haou this chapter. The reason he's OOC is because I wanted him to have a nice side, not Jaden be the good and Haou evil. Please no flames and R&R! Also, do you want me to:

A) rescue Yubel before Zane enters the underground duels

B)rescue Yubel after he becomes Hell Kaiser

C) Satorious gets a hand on Yubel and drives her insane with the Light of Destruction?
