Percy sprinted through Olympus, wondering where Annabeth could be; until he remembered the alcove she had shown him on one of her blueprints. It was secluded and out of the way. The perfect place to be if you didn't want to be found. Percy ran until he was just around the corner from the alcove. He could hear her weaping slightly and it tore at his heart. Walking slowly and lightly he walked across the grass and knelt in front of the love of his life. When she looked up at him the tears that were welled in her eyes nearly broke him in two, knowing he put them there.
"Annabeth, please let me explain." he pleaded. He could feel her putting up the walls that took five years for him to bring down.
"How did you find me?" She asked. Percy smiled to himself.
"You haven't learned after all these years?" He asked. "I will always find you, no matter what," he put all of his heart and truth into those words. He was sure she could hear it because more tears flooded her eyes. Percy took this as his chance to explain. "Trust me when I say nothing's going on between Katrina and I. I can't explain I can't explain everything right now and I know you'll be angry, but please, please believe me." All he could do was wait and hope Annabeth believed him. He could see her warring with herself and he was secretly on whatever side didn't push him away. It felt like forever before he heard her whisper,
"I need time." He nodded and before he could stop himself he pulled Annabeth into his embrace. He felt her relax against him.

"I will be waiting," he whispered. "I promise." Before they left the alcove Percy noticed Annabeth's mask laying on the bench. He quickly grabbed it and deposited it in his pocket with his own mask.

Back at camp Annabeth ignored Percy for three days, but he would not break his promise. He never went to close for fearing she would push him away, yet never too far lest she thought he had given up. He spent countless hours at the beach and in the stables, reliving the memories of the two of them together. It wasn't until the afternoon of Christmas Eve that Percy began to put his plan into action.

Right after lunch he hopped on Black Jack and flew to Mount Olympus. The three goddesses he had requested to see were waiting for him in the throne room.

"Lady Athena, Lady Artemis and Lady Hestia. Thank you for agreeing to speak with me," he bowed to each as he said this.

"What is it you would like, son of the sea?" Athena asked. Of course, being gods, they already knew what he wanted. They just wanted to hear him explain it.

"I've made a short scavenger hunt for Annabeth to follow, but it involves her going to her favorite stores. I was hoping you, being gods, could keep them open from five thirty until after Annabeth leaves. I was wondering if you, Lady Athena, could be at stance and you, Lady Hestia, at Ground Support Café?" The two goddesses nodded their approval.

"What do you need me for Perseus?" Artemis asked.

"I need you to help me with making the spot for dinner. I was hoping you could make an atmospheric border like at camp and also make the stars shine brighter than ever before," this was it. If Artemis said no he'd have to move the dinner to a restaurant, but he just wanted it to be Annabeth and him. Artemis thought for a moment.

"I'll do it," she decided. Percy let out a whoop of excitement. All three goddesses stared at him.

"Sorry," he apologized. "Thank you all for doing this." And with that he was out of the throne room and heading back to Camp.

At the special Christmas dinner that night Percy couldn't help, but stare at Annabeth and wonder if she'd like his surprise. He was also excited too because he could finally hold her again. It hurt to be away from her for so long and not knowing when he could go back. After dinner he went and got the necklace and ring from Jake and went immediately back to his cabin to make the clues for the next day. That night Percy barely slept, wondering what the next day would bring.

On Christmas morning Percy awoke and immediately got ready to go to his mothers. Just as he was reaching the bottom of half blood hill he heard Annabeth call his name,

"Percy!" he spun around and was surprised when she threw her arms around his neck. He stumbled slightly, but was able to catch himself so they didn't fall.

"Annabeth," he whispered. He didn't realize it until then, but he had been afraid the past few days. Afraid she would never come back. Afraid he would lose the one thing that mattered most to him. When Annabeth pressed her lips to his, for a moment he was lost in bliss. To him the kiss was over all to soon.

"Merry Christmas Seaweed Brain," she commented.

"Merry Christmas my Wise Girl," he couldn't help but add the "my" in there. He wanted her to know he hadn't given up on her.

"I just wanted to see you before you went to your mothers," she explained. Just that simple sentence warmed his heart. His mother honked the horn at the bottom of the hill, signaling it was time to go. He pecked Annabeth on the lips one last time and uttered a quick,

"Merry Christmas," before dashing off.

A whole Blue Christmas buffet was set out for him when Percy got home.

"Finally!" Paul cried. "I've been waiting to eat forever!" Sally laughed as Paul and Percy ran and dug in to the blue waffles, blue eggs, blue hash browns and a blue berry smoothie to top it all off.

Percy was given a blue iPod, already loaded with his favorite songs, and a blue battery powered Bluetooth speaker. His new present gave him another idea for his dinner with Annabeth. After a quick lunch Percy headed out again.

"Bye mom! Bye Paul! Merry Christmas!" he called over his shoulder.

"Bye Percy! Have fun with Annabeth!" his mom called, but he was already out the door. Once at the park Percy began setting up for dinner by stringing the lights and convincing some dryads to make and serve dinner for them at six o'clock. Just before five Percy met with the three goddesses and gave Athena and Hestia the presents before they went off. Artemis set up the atmospheric shield and magnified the stars before heading back to Olympus. After changing into his suit Percy waited, going over what he was going to say.
He fought his adhd by counting. He got to three thousand before he saw Black Jack beginning to descend and he started to freak out. What took her so long? What if she didn't like my scavenger hunt and went back to camp? What if Black Jack is only here to tell me she's gone? He saw a figure slide off of Black Jack and a look of wonderment come onto her face. Just like that all of Percy's worries vanished, love in the purest form took its place. A small smile crept on to his face as he watched Annabeth walk towards him.

Dinner went off without a hitch, except for the fact Percy was too nervous to say anything. It wasn't until after dessert that the perfect opportunity for Percy to say what he needed to say came up. He reached across the table and gently grasped Annabeth's hand. He took a deep breath before beginning.
"Annabeth, I need to tell you something." She nodded, looking slightly afraid. "You've made the past five years the best of my life and when you became my girlfriend I couldn't believe how lucky I was. I have you, Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena and the most beautiful and brilliant person in the world! You're my girlfriend," Percy stared at their interlocked hands because he didn't want to see anything negative in her eyes. He pulled the masks from his pocket. "You know, at first I didn't understand why Aphrodite gave me the owl mask and you the wave when everyone was wearing a mask that corresponded with their parent, but I get it now. We're one in the same. Whatever is yours is mine, whatever mine is yours and from here on out everything is ours." He looked up. Tears were streaming down Annabeth's face. "And what I'm trying to say is; I love you Annabeth, with all of my heart," he finished. Annabeth stood and so did Percy. All of a sudden Annabeth flung herself into his arms and pressed a long, sweet, hard kiss to his lips that left him breathless and wanting more.
"I love you too seaweed brain," she murmured during the kiss. Percy was over the moon. She loves me back! She loves me back! His mind kept chanting. He couldn't keep the smile off of his face and he stepped away and hit the play button on his iPod. Perfect by Hedley began pouring from the speaker hidden in a tree nearby. Percy held out his hand.
"May I have this dance?" he asked. Annabeth grasped the extended hand and stepped in close.
"And every dance after this one," she told him. His smile grew even more, if possible. The two lovers danced until all of the slow songs on Percy's iPod had played through. As the last song ended Percy took the box with the necklace out of his pocket.
"One of two presents I still have to give you," he told her. Annabeth opened it and gasped. Jake had done an amazing job. The stone Percy had found was the stomach of a silver owl and the owl was holding an emerald trident.
"Oh Percy. It's beautiful," Annabeth breathed. Gingerly Percy took the necklace out and stepped behind Annabeth to put it on her. As soon as he closed the clasp Annabeth gave him a tight hug.
"There's still one more," he whispered to her.
"Percy no. You already got me the necklace and I didn't get you-" he shut her up with a kiss.
"Just you being here with me is present enough. Now close your eyes and hold out your left hand." she did as he commanded and he slid the promise ring onto her ring finger. Annabeth opened her eyes.
"Percy… what… how…?" She stammered. Percy chuckled at the fact his girlfriend was at a loss for words, which never happened.
"It's a promise ring. To signify that I promise to be only yours, to be there when you need me, to be, not only your boyfriend, but your best friend and many more. Annabeth, please look at me," he said softly. Using two fingers he gently turned her head. Looking deeply into her eyes he said the final words of his promise, "I promise to always love you." Tears of joy, or what Percy hoped was joy, streaked down her face. Using his thumbs to wipe away her tears Percy leaned forward and passionately kissed the love of his live. He could taste the saltyness of her tears on her lips and it just made him kiss her harder.
They broke apart, breathless. He led Annabeth a little ways away to a blanket that was spread on the snow sprinkled ground. They laid shoulder to shoulder, hands entwined, comfortable silence descended upon them. Annabeth was the first one to break the silence.
"You said you were going to explain everything that happened at the solstice," she said timidly.
"Katrina was the one who drew the ring. She works at the jewelry store in the mall and it so happens that she's Jake Mason's girlfriend. What you saw at the solstice was that she accidentally backed into me and I caught her," he explained. "Now I have a question for you. Why did you avoid me, even before the solstice?"
"I thought you were going to break up with me," she admitted.
"I'm going to be here for a very long time," he told her. "Whether you like it or not I'm not going anywhere." Just with that sentence their love for eachother expanded tenfold. As they lay there stargazing they both thought the same thing. Best Christmas yet.
