Death Until We Reunite

Her heart pounded in her chest as Hermione shot up in bed drenched in sweat, with wide eyes the room began to spinning around her as her heart pounded in her chest. Hermione's hand reached out and grabbed the bed sheets that covered the empty space of the soft bed besides her.

"I had a dream last night," Hermione said softly as her voice crocked with age, "I just had the same dream just now...we were young again, you where not dead and I was not bedridden...the setting was our favorite spot, the one under the large tree where we sat with our friends next to the great lake while studying...we were so happy but...but..."

Hermione paused, her face turned downwards into a tired frown showing her winkles and true age, tears and sadness along with a deep painful longings shone in her eyes as she slowly turned to look at the empty spot besides her. The room was deadly silent bear all but the loud ticking of the bedside clock counting down more than the time until morning through it went unheard due to Hermione's age gained deafness.

"You kept telling me not to be afraid, that when you passed away from the failed operation that caused you to bled to death you said it was not painful...that it was just like going to sleep..." Hermione said softly as her eyes took on a tender and love filled light to them as she pictured her long time wife sitting next to her with her long fiery red hair and bright eyes so full of life, "You said that it was my time...that we can be together forever with the rest of our friends...that all I need to do is fall asleep one more time."

For a quick second the ghostly image of a much younger red head girl appeared in front of Hermione with a tender welcoming smile on her face before quickly disappearing. Not wanting to fight it any longer and wanting to join her wife Hermione let out a heavy tired sigh as she slowly laid down on the soft bed that she had come to know so well and closed her eyes with a soft smile on her face.

As the morning sun rose and a new day welcomed everyone as they rose from their beds one elderly book loving woman never rose from her bed. Her family left to find her lying unmoving, not breathing, on her bed ghostly pale but with a happy smile on her face void of pain and suffering.
