Author's Note:
This is my first Thunderbird FanFiction, so diehard Thunderbird fans, go easy. I also have only watched the 2004 Movie and have watched the magnificent works of Criminally Charmed and Little Miss Bump, also TBMom. So, if character's actions are wrong, I apologize in advance.

The writing style may change. So any first person will be in my OC's 1st Person, while other tidbits will be in 3rd person. There will be a break and then in Italics 3rd Person, but it will be centered around a character. So it will say, 3rd Person Name, only my OC will be in 1st Person.

Disclaimer: I do not own the Thunderbirds, I only own my OC, Kathryn Dwyer Tracy. - There are also specific lines from the movie, so I don't own those either.

- Chapter 8 -

(1st Person - Alan)

I awoke to pain and discomfort. I couldn't tell where I was but as my senses came around I could hear the familiar voices of my brothers. I opened my eyes and noticed the green shade of the room. What room did we have that was green? Oh yeah, Virgil big green bug as Gordon liked to call it. So, judging by the tubes under my nose, I must be in the infirmary.

I try to sit up, but I am stilled by someone's arm. I look at the owner of that arm and recognize the familiar face of my older brother John. He speaks to me, "Virgil hasn't had the time to look at you yet, so he told me to keep you in bed. Dad says we're almost home."

I look to Virgil and notice he busily working over another family member. I look closer and identify the long platinum hair that is falling slightly off the beside. That could only mean it's my sister and twin. In a panic state, I try to get off the bed again. John, even though his arm is in a sling tries to hold me down. My right side burns in protest. I guess being thrown across the room like a rag doll doesn't make anyone feel peachy.

I try again and John holds me down, grunting in pain himself. I notice him using the intercom to the front, "Gordon, I need you here NOW!" My blond hair brother looks back at me, "Alan, you need to rest. I know your worried about Kathryn and so am I, but you need to rest. She's not the only one injured." He seems out of breath and sweating a lot.

I completely ignore him. I need to see Kathryn. I was supposed to protect her!

I hear the door swish open and soon Gordon is in my view, "Alan, look at me." I still stare at where Virgil is working over our sister. Gordon takes his hands and grabs my head, forcing me to look him in the eyes, "You know Kat's going to be fine. Virgil's got her. Now try to rest. It's going to be alright." He lets go of my head and just looks at me.

I am speechless. Is this the same joking, fun-loving, pranking brother I have grown up with? Then I realize, he's right. Kathryn will be fine. My panic state goes away and now I feel weak and really out of breath. Even though there are tubes underneath my nose pushing oxygen into my nose, I can't get a full breath out. My ribs are protesting in any large breath of air.

"Alan?" John questions.

I look towards my brothers and try to speak to them, but I can't even get a word out. My vision soon gets blurry.

(3rd Person - Virgil)

In the infirmary of Thunderbird Two, Virgil is working calmly on his younger sister. Since Kathryn's medicine for her attacks was injected, her other injuries were easier to handle. Once they get to the island and Virgil had Dr. Gardner's help and even Brain's, he would need to get her into surgery. A couple of her broken ribs had split into more than one piece and would need to be fixed. Along with the damage to her back. From what personal scanner the medic had in his hand had told him, her back was severely fractured, but was so much that it would affect her walking. It was just enough of a fracture that is could be fixed. She would be on bed rest for awhile, but she wasn't immobilized. Virgil thanked the guardian angel that watched over his family.

He could hear Alan waking from unconsciousness. The medic had placed a nasal cannula on the young blond because after reading the personal scanner, he oxygen levels were too low. It concerned him. It also concerned Virgil that he couldn't aid his youngest brother because he had to help his younger sister. If Virgil didn't apply the bandages or the brace, her back could become worse.

So, for the time being, he had to focus on his sister. Luckily, when Scott had placed Alan in the infirmary, the pilot had hooked the young blond to a IV and started fluids. He would have to thank his eldest brother for taking those medical training classes. Having more than just him knowing medical knowledge helped in times like this.

Alan struggled more under John's grasp and the medic could hear the door swish open. John had only called Gordon down shortly ago, so hearing how fast the water-loving brother came down, worried the medic even more. The medic could hear Gordon talking to Alan in a tone he almost didn't recognize. How Gordon learned to talk like that, Virgil couldn't believe it.

He also didn't miss the grunt from John as he probably jarred his arm trying to secure Alan.

Virgil wished Gordon had been down here in the beginning. John needs to rest like Alan. When he had got into the infirmary with Kathryn, he could tell his star-loving brother was about to fall on his feet. He ordered the blond to rest in the chair next Alan. Virgil then had to get Kathryn secure on the medical bed. Luckily, once they got to the island, all they would need to do is detach the bed from the wall, since they were the new types of medical beds. Hover-beds.

In all, today was the most hectic day the medic could ever remember.

Virgil returned to Kathryn and after seeing everything he could do then was satisfied. He turned to his older and younger brother trying to help his youngest brother. The medic could hear his younger brother's scanner blaring. He hastily moved toward Alan's bed. After looking at the scanner more closely, he ordered his brother, "Gordon switch the nasal cannula to the mask beside you. Also cut off his shirt. He jarred his ribs too much in his struggle and judging by how he's reacting and the scanner, he must have a couple fractured ribs. Dammit. Well, at least they aren't broken. I can't do anything else for Kathryn right now, so I help you, and don't worry, she's fine. Once I gave Kat her medicine for her attacks, her breathing decreased and helped decrease any of her broken ribs or fractured spine from being injured any further. And no, I will not give any more information." The medic spoke as John and Gordon's eyes widened from the slight given information.

The medic moved to the station right beside Alan bed and grabbed bandages and other medical supplies along with a painkiller. Gordon had finished replacing Alan oxygen supply, so Virgil moved into aid his youngest brother. Virgil administered the painkiller. The medic looked at his injured brother and told him, "It's alright Sprout. Kathryn is fine and just rest."

When first Virgil had looked at his brother, his eyes were hazy and not focused. From the lack of oxygen and pain, Alan could comprehend anything, but as Virgil spoke to him, the young blond had looked at the medic in the eyes, smiled, and then fell into a painless sleep. Virgil sighed in relief and continued.

Gordon finished cutting off Alan's shirt. This had exposed the enormous bruise that raced down Alan's midriff. It ran from his ribs to just above his pants line. The young blond also had small cuts that were bleeding slightly.

Virgil, ignoring the gasps from John and Gordon, began to bandage and clean the wounds Alan had received. Once they were bandaged, the medic wrapped Alan's midriff with a tensor bandage to ease some of the pain. He made sure not to wrap it to tightly.

Just as he finished he could feel his Thunderbird easing into a stop and finally resting. They were on the island.

Virgil moved back to Kathryn and prepared her to be moved. Soon a female in a white lab coat entered the infirmary. She seemed about their fathers age, but still looked young. Her hair seemed long and black, but they couldn't tell because it was pulled back. The young doctor also had bright blue eyes. She spoke to the boys, "I'm Dr. Gardner your father has told you about. You all were young when I treated you all. I have helped you all before when either Kathryn needed a doctor or you all needed one. Especially when each one of you were born. Now Virgil what's the diagnostics on Kathryn?

Virgil, unfazed by familiarity of the doctor, spoke to the woman before him, "I will tell you once we get her ready for surgery. Now, I need you to take her to OR we have in the infirmary. I need to prep Alan." The medic moved toward his younger brother as the female doctor moved toward his younger sister, "He sustained less damage and just needs rest. Luckily, he only has a couple fractured ribs and didn't break any. Gordon, once I have finished prepping Alan, take him to the infirmary." Virgil notices his father enter the infirmary, "Dad, you take John."

John seems to disagree, "I can make it there by myself."

"Yes and you'll probably fall halfway through, now let me help you son," Jeff reassures his son.

John, depleted, agrees with his brother and father.

Virgil turns back toward the doctor, "Now let's get Kathryn patched up."

The young doctor is amazed at how calm the middle Tracy son is responding to his injured family. It impressed Lanora, but also scared her. Was Virgil's calmness just a facade to keep his family calm, when really Virgil was breaking inside? She hoped that wasn't the case. Dr. Gardner and Virgil moved swiftly through the vila and entered the infirmary with Gordon on their tail with Alan. John and Jeff moved slower since John was putting most of his weight on his father. The blond's own injuries finally catching up to him.

As Virgil and Dr. Gardner entered the OR, Gordon hooked Alan's bed to the wall slot. He thanked Brains and Kathryn for coming up with these beds. It not only helped in these situations, but also helped on the field. Jeff with John shortly entered after, the father helped his second eldest son to the the infirmary bed near Alan's. Making sure the elder son got some rest.

Time seemed to move by swiftly and in that time, Brains had entered the infirmary to help look after Alan and John. Before Virgil had become the main Tracy doctor and medic, Brains was also trained in medicine, along with science in technology. Along with Brains came Scott, who wouldn't leave Alan. Jeff was torn between each son and Gordon was close to John.

Soon after, Virgil and Dr. Gardner exited the OR. Virgil told his family, "Kathryn's fine. More than a little ruffed up, but still fine. Our biggest worry was her back since when I was first looking at her, I thought it was broken."

"But we looked further and concluded it was a severe fracture. She'll need plenty of bed rest to wait this injury off. Along with the four broken ribs on her right side and three on her left side. One of those ribs, on the right side, had punctured her lung. So, we had to fix it right away. Kathryn will stay on oxygen until her levels return to normal, which knowing her disease, will be a while," Dr. Lanora Gardner finished the stressed medic's diagnosis. "Now, Brains, how are Alan and John?"

The genius looked at the doctor and spoke, "Alan has f…our fractured r..ibs. His bre..oxygen levels are l..ow, so he needs the ma..ask. Along with an IV, since he is dehy.. lack of fluids in his body. John is fort…lucky. His arm was on..nly fractured, but has o..ne fractured rib. I admin…gave John some p..ain killers that also wor..rked as a se..sedative for him to sl..rest."

Dr. Gardner noticed Virgil sag with relief. She smiled and then spoke to the family, "Now, I want all of you to change and rest. I know most of you want to be with John, Alan, and Kathryn, but they need to rest." The doctor could notice the depleted looks in the families features. "Now if you all could leave and change. I'm sure you all don't want any disease getting into this room?"

This perked the families attention. Gordon left first, then came back to get Scott. Brains left since Dr. Garder assured him they would be fine. She also told the genius to be with his son. Brains had smiled at that.

Now the only uninjured Tracy left was Jeff, or so Dr. Gardner thought at first. She looked closer at her old friend and noticed his posture wasn't because of age. The Jeff she knew always had a certain air about him and no it was snooty, but a kind, dignified air. The billionaire would aways sit-up straight, but would always have a gentle aura. He wasn't at all like the doctor knew. The Tracy patriarch was sitting in a chair close to his sons, with his back slightly curved, as if relieving pressure.

The doctor asked her friend, "Jeff, how long were you going to wait to tell me your back is bothering you?"

Surprised, Jeff looked at the black haired doctor, "Am I that obvious?"

Virgil couldn't help but laugh slightly, "Anyone on this island could figure out your back was bothering you. So who do you want poking at you? As John and Kathryn like to call it. Now first, we should put Kathryn next to Alan, I know the first thing they are going to when they both wake up is franticly search for each other."

Dr. Gardner and Jeff laughed. The doctor nodded and helped Virgil bring out Kathryn. They placed her next to Alan and made sure everything was all set. Virgil looked at her vitals, making sure everything was fine.

The doctor looked at the medic and then tapped on his shoulder when he didn't notice her presence, "I want you to change and rest and don't try to use the 'I'm the medic here,' because I've used that before and have passed out because of it. Now rest Virgil, your brothers and sister will need you tomorrow."

Unexpectedly, Virgil left without complaint. He said goodnight to his father and then placed a kiss on top of Kathryn's forehead. Jeff couldn't help but smile at the scene before him. Virgil then left the infirmary to clean and change out his International Rescue uniform.

Dr. Gardner then turned toward her friend, "I want you to go shower, change, and come back. I will look at your back once you return. Then to ease your heart, I will allow you to stay with your children. Hopefully, not in an infirmary bed yourself."
The billionaire father laughed and then left on his way as the doctor ordered. He came back shortly, in pajamas with clean hair.

The doctor then ordered Jeff to sit, just for while she was looking at him, on the fourth infirmary bed. Lanora was almost in shock. How Jeff was able to have a fully packed OR, four infirmary beds, and a fully packed infirmary, surprised the doctor. She had seen many villas and private mansions around the world, being a personal doctor for some the most highly decorated and richest billionaires out there, and the best in-house infirmary she had seen was Jeff's. Then she remembered that Jeff and his boys were International Rescue and would need an infirmary like this to aid the boys when any of them were injured. It made it a lot easier then going to a hospital.

As Jeff lifted his shirt, the doctor could get a good look at his back. It was bruised, but the pain wouldn't last as long as his kids would. She spoke to Jeff, "Well you have some fine bruises back here. Mind telling me how? Doesn't look like anything Thunderbird Five could cause."

The billionaire laughed slightly, "It was from the Bank. The Hood had used his abilities and shoved my body into one of the cages in the vault. I guess my back hit it further then I thought."

"That must have been interesting. Well, for now I am going to wrap your back so it can ease some pain and when the pain is too much, take ibuprofen or celecoxib," Dr. Gardner told Jeff as she started to grab the bandages to wrap Jeff's injuries. She moved back toward the billionaire and began applying the bandages, "Now, I want you to rest, just like everyone else is doing right now. You're not superhuman. I will allow you to stay here with your kids, as long as you rest in a chair or something."

"We have recliners," the doctor looked at him in question, "a couple times Kathryn had become very sick and her breathing just wouldn't return to normal. An attack had cause the weakness and that made it easier for her to catch any illness. Kathryn wouldn't let go of my hand or when I left, only when I told her I would be back, she wouldn't let go of Scott's and even John's. We had to get John from Thunderbird Five and then he would be stuck in her tight grip. I got some recliners, so that the next time she had an attack that bad, the person with her would be comfortable. It was usually me or John and when John wasn't here, Scott. It was hard to see her like that. At times like those, is when it really showed the family how old she really is. Kathryn has helped create some of our greatest inventions for International Rescue."

Lanora had finished wrapping Jeff and he was still talking about his youngest. He even had started to look at the sleeping blonde. Dr. Gardner moved in front of Jeff and gave him a hug. She was one of his and Lucy's oldest friends. Lanora had grown-up with Lucy and was even the maid-of-honor at their wedding and helped deliver all of Lucy and Jeff's children. Lanora was even the doctor that had recognized Kathryn's incurable disease. Along with being the doctor to treat the youngest Tracy. Dr. Gardner had been with the family so much that when Lucy died, she kind of drifted. Alan and Kathryn had only been five at the time. Dr. Gardner was only brought back to the family when one day, she had still been working in a hospital at the time, she received a frantic call from Jeff's oldest, Scott. The teenager said he remembered her number was on the fridge, when they still lived in Kansas, and that his parent's told him to call it when there was an emergency. Kathryn's disease was really bad when she was about four till ten and it was around this time that she had a major attack. It almost killed her too. Lanora had arrived just in-time and this was also around the time that Jeff had snapped out of his workaholic state to save his family.

Dr. Gardner then had been working with the hospital where she worked and was able to figure out a medicine to help once these children had these attacks. It is still used today. Here was this young doctor from a nowhere town in Kansas that had started the search for the cure of this disease. Her talent's were recognized and she soon became the doctor to all the most famous people the world had to offer and that even meant her best friend. Lately, Lanora's work placed her in London, where she owned a nice sturdy villa and that is where Lady Penelope had collected her. Dr. Gardner had been at first surprised to see this well-known aristocrat at her door, but once Lady P spoke of Jeff, Lanora knew something wasn't right. So, that's how she was there on Tracy island. The first time, but she knew it wasn't going to be the last.

The doctor and Jeff broke from their hug and Lanora spoke to him, "Kathryn's going to be fine. It's going to be a bumpy road, but knowing your family, she'll get through it. Now rest you old fool."

Jeff barked a laugh, "Old fool? You're older than me!"

"Yeah, but at least I don't look it," the doctor returned.

The billionaire smiled and then, with the doctor's help grabbed one of the recliners and put it right in-between Alan and Kathryn's beds.

Dr. Gardner gave him a painkiller and as Jeff started to drift, he never believed what was going to happen next.
